I have eaten here for many years and I believe it has changed two or three times. I waited long enough to not eat here in hopes things have changed as far as quality. I have to say I am pleased. The chicken finger and boneless spare rib lunch combo was great. These chicken fingers are like the ones I grew up on. Big piece of chicken with a light breading that holds sweet and sour sauce perfectly. The boneless ribs had the sweet bbq flavor that so many others lack. Some of the big pieces of ribs were a bit fatty. The fried rice was great, especially when you mixed the bbq sauce and ribs into it. The wonton soup that comes with the lunch meal was good. For years, this place was awesome. My family did a ton of business with them. Several years ago they got new owners. We got some bad lunches right after Covid and we stopped going. The rice was an off color, kinda gray and white. The meals were swimming in tons of off tasting syrupy sauces, and nothing tasted right. Stopped at this place for a quick take out meal to avoid cooking at home. We spent around $66. Each combo came with rice and an egg roll. Portion size for each combo was grande. Lo mein noodles were thick and bland. Egg rolls and chicken fingers were way to greasy. I wished they had taken a little more time to drain off hot oil before bagging and plating. It may have made a difference. We ordered 2 wonton soup which was full of wonton, pork and vegetables. However, the soup base was like drinking a glass of water. What happened to the flavor? I've patronized this restaurant for ~15 years, through 3 owners. I usually stop in weekly for lunch (eat-in) and occasionally for dinner (take-out). NO MORE! Last lunch (General Tso's Chicken) was inedible. There was no one in the front of the restaurant so I just left it and walked out. $10 down that drain. Last night we ordered dinner ($45); subgum wonton soup, scallion pancakes, teriyaki sticks, beef with peppers and onions (dinner entree). Teriyaki was rancid! RANCID! Honestly, one of the better Chinese food restaurants we have been to. I think we have 3 trips so far and haven't been disappointed yet.

This will forever be my most favorite Chinese food ever. I have since moved to Chicago but grew up with New Main Moon and nothing will ever compare to it. The portions are BEYOND generous. Honestly, the average person can get 3 meals out of one lunch special. My favorite dishes are the chicken wings, golden fingers (oh my goodness, the best ever), pork fried rice, boneless spare ribs and general Tso's chicken. So, since I was in the area I HAD to get a letter "E" (pork friend rice, general Tso's and a beef skewer). So darn good! I miss it so so much! These folks USED to be great...the lines were long on a Friday or Saturday night. Sadly they were sold and the quality and quantity went straight down. Decided to try New Main Moon and went for an old standby, beef with peppers and onions. I ordered the combination dish with white rice and an egg roll. I also got an order of fried wontons. First, since there was no website, I used the menus from the pictures. Beware that the pictures....and the prices are 7 years old and are higher now. The good news is that portions are large, with a combination dish easily two meals. There was also plenty of white rice. The not so good news is that there was not enough liquid for all the rice! The peppers and onions were barely cooked, still crunchy, but the beef cooked nicely. The dish was just ok, although if it had more liquid and the veggies cooked more, it would have been good. Both the wontons and egg roll were very oily as if the oil they were cooked in wasn't hot enough. I was not expecting the wonton to be so browned and stuffed with some kind of brown meat, so it wasn't for me. The egg roll was greasy but dry at the same time. Man I've moved away a couple years ago and I *still* get the urge to grab some New Main Moon. Every time I head back to Mass, I have to stop here. Yes it is superamericanized stripmall chinese. But it is the *BEST* superamericanized stripmall chinese I've had. Food is always hot and full-flavored. General Tso's is fantastic: crisp and not overly sweet, with just the right amount of heat. They say no MSG, so if that's something that concerns you, it is a plus. Prices are great for what you get, especially their lunch and dinner combo plates. Downside of Seattle: *NO* Northeast USA style chinese places, let alone the awesomeness that is this place. Let's get working on that. read more

Lots of rave reviews for this place but it certainly didn't knock my socks off. In fact, considering that it is really quite the hole in the wall I expected more from the food. While the General Tso's chicken did not totally disappoint--itwas a little sweeter and less savory than I prefer--and the portions were stunningly humongous, the beef and snow pea dish we got was incredibly bland and unremarkable. If you eat here you would probably do well to steer away from any veggie dishes, they do not seem to be New Main Moon's forte. read more

I was out and about, and decided to grab food on the way home. New Main Moon is tucked away in a plaza, next to an Itaian Bakery. The inside of the building was clean, but isn't going to win any awards for decor. Honestly, I liked the handwritten menus on the wall. However, the stray door that was just leaning up against the wall was a little odd. I ordered some chicken and snowpeas as a lunch combo. This comes with soup on the side. First, I tried the wonton soup. The broth was okay. There was plenty of meat floating around. However, that was it. I would have liked to see some chives or anything green in there. The wontons were real soft and overcooked. Next up was the chicken and snowpeas. The peas were good. The chicken wasn't bad, either. The sauce it was drowning in was too thick and sweet. I wish it had some kind of kick. Either that or just anything. It was flat, yet overpowering. I also grabbed an eggroll. It was soft, not crispy on the outside. It could have cooked for a while longer. Overall, none of the food was bad. However, none of it was all that great. It was your run-of-the-mill over-americanized Chinese food. One of the stars is solely based on the size of the portions. I got two meals out of a lunch combo that only cost about $8. read more

This was a good "American style " Chinese take out place , serving food that so many of us have grown up eating. Unfortunately , things have changed somewhat drastically here ... Which is truly unfortunate. The General Tsos chicken and lo mein truly stood out in their menu and were at minimum , bi - weekly staples. Now , the Generals Tsos is hard and tough and the sauce is very poorly done. My beloved lo mein , for this area at least , is limp , oily and pretty much resembles something that you do not want to eat. It looks as bad as it taste .... Truly awful ! To be fair .... they were given several attempts to give what was the norm for them and just simply could not deliver. Out of 5 visits .... All of which were at different days and times .... The food just honestly got worse. I cannot say if this is a staffing change , food Supplier , different management or a combination of things , but the gamble is not worth it.
