I read good and bad reviews for every tree company out there. I had estimates from four different companies. Northeastern was the only one to promise not needing to drive trucks over my lawn, and gave me the lowest quote. Dave was the tech that came to price the job and I double checked they wouldn't need to drive on the lawn. No problem. "We'll cut it up and walk it out on our shoulders." Suzanne was excellent in answering my questions and signing off on the work. Dave showed up on time for both the estimate and the work. With a crew of only 3 I thought this would take forever. The tree was easily over 60 ft tall and I had them clear other areas of fallen wood and brush. They were done in 4 hours. And there was no evidence they were even here! Hands down one of the best experiences I have had in a long time. A tree fell on our house during a violent storm and I was told to call North Eastern Tree Service. They had someone at our property within 5 hours and we were given a quote on the spot. They had a crew out the next morning and they had all the work done in four hours. But the thing you have to keep in mind is the estimator came out on the 4th of July and all the work was done on Saturday the 5th of July. Email sent to North Eastern on 10/8; seeing similar reviews I was compelled to share mine. Hello, I am canceling my agreement with NE Tree Service. I was scheduled to have the work done yesterday, 10/7. I understand that the weather was turning for the worse and I would have understood if the work needed to be rescheduled: however, I did not receive a call/e-mail suggesting a change was warranted. This lack of follow-up had occurred two previous times. I called the office following eight weeks from the estimate date and was told Josh would call me, no call. I called back the following week to make the same inquiry, once again no follow-up. This previous week I spoke with someone on the support staff and was told how busy & short staffed you were. The person who helped me called Josh and scheduled the appointment for yesterday. As such, although I have used NE Tree previously and I certainly understand that based on today's business environment we all need to be flexible, I will not do business with a company that has little regard for my time or lacks the courtesy of communicating with me. The actual job was very difficult because of the tight space and extremely large branches. Definitely recommend. The group of guys that came and trimmed off some larger limbs from a tree in my yard, did so in a timely and safe manner. The branches hung over a fence and my house. They carefully removed the limbs, caused little damage to the lawn (expected), and cleaned up everything nicely before leaving. I did have one small issue, had to do with the log removal, but once I contacted the company, they came back the next day and rectified the issues. So I had had good service from this company in the past. Until now I have had a service tech named Steve who was very good. Unfortunately this time I was assigned Matt. He has been awful. It took him weeks just to leave a quote at my house. This was after many phone calls. Then I was promised he would come to get the work I needed done yesterday or today and he has been a no show. I will believe he is coming when I see him. I may use this service again but definitely do not want him back at my house. read more

We have worked with this company before and received excellent service. So, when we needed a tree removed we called them again. Despite being promised that plywood would be put down, our lawn was left with huge ruts and a flower garden was destroyed. It took 3 weeks to get someone to come out and acknowledge the damage. Three months after a supposed claim had been filed we've had no contact that wasn't initiated by us. Each time we are promised a response and each time we get nothing. We are preparing legal action. I was driving on Route 1 this afternoon. One of your driver's decided to go in the breakdown lane and try to push me off the road right at the merge before the Newport exit in a 35 mile per hour speed zone.. Mind you, there was nobody behind me, and another vehicle on my driver side. I feel this employee is a threat to other drivers on the road. It is very rainy today and the roads are very slick. He then proceeded to speed at over 80 miles per hour on the Jamestown bridge in order for to avoid me seeing his vehicle information which is RI plate# 74479 small white pickup truck. I have put in a request for a call back from a manager, and I certainly hope that I receive one. If not, I will be making a wreckless driving report with the police and provide them your company information. By the way, who the hell puts their dog in the back of a truck in freezing weather? It's obvious this driver has some anger management issues. They driver nearly cost me my life. I can see you have a terrible reputation. I just got off the phone with Beth. Worst company I have ever dealt with and I cannot fathom how they have any more than 1 star. The stump grinder kept breaking down after trees came down so this is what we were left with after they attempted grinding the stumps twice. Those attempts came after several emails and a check for $2000. Later that summer my patio company, fence company have all run into issues with their installs due to the stumps. I was curious if he was on chemicals meant to correct mental problems in Gorillas. Anyway, I found ABOVE AND BEYOND. A bit more money, but a great company. If you can get them to come, they might be good. But they never came, so how would I know? I got a quote from Dave in May. The price was decent. I faxed the signed agreement in a week later. After not hearing back for over a month, I started calling weekly. I got the same answer, "Dave will call you back". About a month later, after still receiving no calls, the lady on the phone said they would contact his supervisor. They were very nice on the phone but apparently they have no power or control over the scheduling. Never heard from the supervisor. By August I had enough and told them to just cancel. Destroyed two fences on my property and the crew wasn't smart enough to lay wood along their entire path so they chewed up and destroyed my side and back yards. The arborist came and gave me a quote to trim some trees in the middle of April. He said they were working about 3 weeks out and I would get a call in no more than 4 weeks to schedule the work. It has now been 7 weeks, no call even after I have called them every day for a week, left voicemails for "supervisors", and been assured by whomever answers the phone that "someone" will get back to me. The owner of this company was nice enough to volunteer his time and equipment to get our owlet back to his mom who had been staying near the nest looking for her baby. Great experience. Got quote last on Thursday and text on Tuesday night that there was a cancellation and they could do it Wednesday. I may have gotten lucky on timing compared to some other reviews - but it worked out for me. Had trees growing from neighbors yard over my house (50' wide lot). Had issues where you would not be able to get equipment under as side yard is fenced. Had two other contractors tell me they couldn't handle the job with the restricted access. No problem. Their 55' bucket was able to reach no problem. Total time was about 2.5 hours and the cleanup was excellent. Would definitely recommend. read more

We hired Northeastern Tree last year after Irene delivered a severe blow to a large oak tree in our backyard. It was still standing but half of it had come down and everyone we spoke to agreed that it was at the end of its life. They came out right away to give us an estimate. The estimate was far less than the others that we'd received. The catch was that they wouldn't be able to make it out until December of that year. We opted to wait in hopes that we wouldn't get another bad storm that would cause more damage. They were a little late but showed up in early January and removed the tree. The tree was right up against my neighbor's fence so they had to work in my yard and in my neighbor's. There were other structures and trees that they had to work around. They acknowledged that it was a very difficult job but they completed it quickly at the price I was quoted. They weren't able to take the stump all the way to the ground because of the fence so they said they'd be back with different equipment. They were back within the week to complete the job. Overall I was very satisfied with the experience and would definitely hire Northeastern again if I have another tree problem. read more

They came in a timley fashion. They answered my questions and drew me a picture even ! The work was rapidly done and for the exact amount of the estimate. I paid $520.00 to prune two maples and have limbs cut off endangering the house. I admit that at first glance, I felt as if the tree was being cut down entirely. I've used North eastern tree for a few jobs, big and moderate sized. Every job has been flawless, thorough and timely. The last job included a 75 foot maple near power lines, a 60 foot maple, a 50 ft cherry and a trim on several of my neighbors trees. The 2 man crew were there 2 hours after the estimate and the job was done by 5pm that day. This is during the busiest time of the year for tree work. Apparently, I timed it right. All branches were cleaned up. They even raked the lawn clean. Talk about thorough. The previous job was 4, 100 foot pine trees. All ground down to nothing in no time. Their prices are very fair as well. And to add icing to the cake, they have a remote control grinder which I totally geeked out on..SUPER COOL! read more

Came, cut down tree, left logs all over my front lawn for a week before picking up. 3 weeks later and multiple calls... job still not done, waiting on stump grinding. I am in the process of a major lawn renovation, live in NE and have limited windows to spray hydro seed. I cannot keep stalling 2 other professional companies from coming here to do their job. On 4/2/2019, based upon a proposal they supplied to me, I hired them to provide a plant care program for my plants and trees. It was to be a 6 application program. When they hadn't shown up to do the "Early Spring" application by mid-May, I had to call them to get them out here. I was assured that I would not have to bug them to get the future applications done. It is now AUGUST 6, 2019 and they haven't been back for the "Late Spring" or "Early Summer" applications. I just called them and they had no idea why they hadn't shown up, so I fired them. A 100 foot oak fell due to tropical storm Hermine and took out my back deck. I called North-Eastern Tree at 9 am and by 10:30 had a quote. Within 2 hours an army showed up and went to work. Wow! We had multiple quotes and were not sure which company to go with. Dan's bid came in competitively, and we are absolutely 110% satisfied. Our historic home in east side of Providence provided a few challenges with regards to access, but this crew did a fantastic job. They went above and beyond, and we are very pleased. The crew worked very hard, sweating it out under the hot /muggy conditions. We had a cherry, maple, elm all removed in tight quarters done with remarkable precision, in addition to some over arching elm's that were climbed and pruned. Clean up was great, and they completed the job all in one day. Dan even helped us find a way to save some money - as we were able to independently get rid of the wood, saving us the additional day of clean up.
