Shortly after I wrote my first review, about three weeks into being there, my mom got sick and I was home in Chicago for a while. Coaches asked where I was, asked about my mom when I got back... it sounds simple, but you're not just a body. You really are part of a community. A strong, positive, badass community. I gladly give up spending a little somewhere else to see the strength and progress I have made in the last eight months. Classes are small enough you get really good feedback, I never worry myself or classmates going to get hurt (seriously. I can't think of ONE person being injured. Ask around. That's rare in many other gyms). Come try it out. You'll be so glad you did.

The members are really nice and encouraging, but I have had hit or miss experiences with the staff here. Mike and another trainer who is no longer here (Josh) were really sweet and I enjoyed their Crossfit classes. Dax was my first instructor and wasn't as attentive as I wanted someone to be considering that I had said I had been out of shape for a while, but I got through it fine. Overall it was ok, but now that I haven't been here a while I find that I don't miss it all that much, mostly because the staff rotates too much.

At 60, I was fairly reluctant about trying CrossFit. It can be intimidating. There are lots of…read moreyoung folks in great shape. There are also many folks in not so great shape. I have been going to this gym for 6 months now. It's an incredibly nice group of people. As long as you know your limits, it's an incredible program to get back into or maintain your shape. CrossFit gets plenty of press about injuries, etc. My response is don't push yourself being what you are capable of. Don't do an exercise if you are prone to injury or don't feel comfortable with it. At this gym, no one pushes you to do anything you don't want to. In one session, I pushed myself to do sprints. The end result was I was unable to work out for 2 weeks. I take responsibility for making a stupid decision. I have not made that mistake again. I have knee issues, so I cannot run. They are very accommodating. If there is an exercise I am concerned about, I ask for an alternative; which can be rowing or a stationary bike, etc. The instructor knows me now, of course. If she thinks I can do it, she'll ask me to try. Maureen, the usual instructor, is great. She keeps the workout moving, is very cheerful and is always engaged with the class. She's great! This location is not convenient for me, but Maureen is worth the trip. I highly recommend CrossFit and this gym in particular.

Crossfit Cheshire offers an intimate and personalized experience for anyone. The smaller class…read moresizes are great for those of us who don't love being overshadowed by those who are a lot more experienced. That being said, the coaching staff is top notch - I've been to a lot of other gyms and haven't experienced the caliber of coaching that CFC offers. The schedule is flexible and the members are very warm and welcoming. My favorite part is actually that there really is an inclusive environment and there isn't any clique-like activity here.
