After hearing about CrossFit for quite a while, I wanted to learn more about both the facility and their offerings. I was very impressed with what I saw, and I am seriously considering pursuing the possibility of joining. The coaches seem both inspiring and motivating while emphasizing safety. I came to CrossFit NH as a part of my one class per week package with my fitness center membership ($40/mo). The members are really nice and encouraging, but I have had hit or miss experiences with the staff here. Mike and another trainer who is no longer here (Josh) were really sweet and I enjoyed their Crossfit classes. Dax was my first instructor and wasn't as attentive as I wanted someone to be considering that I had said I had been out of shape for a while, but I got through it fine. Overall it was ok, but now that I haven't been here a while I find that I don't miss it all that much, mostly because the staff rotates too much. read more

Currently doing the Cross Fit On Ramp session at CFNH. Great experience so far. Really cool and down to earth instructors, who keep the workouts fun and lively with energetic music. Today's soundtrack included music from house of pain, jay z, etc. The workouts are awesome too. High intensity so you get in, *expletive* some *expletive* up, then leave. It is no exaggeration to writed that CrossFit New Haven changed my life. I joined in July 2018, and saying goodbye to this gym was the saddest part of leaving New Haven in June 2019. The best part of my day was joining my buddies in the 8am class. At first, I was of course impressed by the quality of the space and equipment. But even more important than that were the skill and kindness of the coaches. These are professionals who truly care about you, not just as an athlete, but as a whole person. I always felt respected by their coaching and safe under their watchful eyes. In addition, I cannot speak highly enough of the community that this gym has fostered. They regularly hold communal events for charities and for fun. You should join CFNH tomorrow. You'll be beyond glad that you did. Thank you for everything, guys. I'll miss you terribly. read more

This gym is awesome! The coaches and members are super welcoming, and the workouts make you feel like a badass. The best part is that I can choose to go at the level that I'm comfortable with, but I always feel inspired to challenge myself. They don't tell you that you have to lift a certain amount or eat a certain way, it's all about getting fit in a way that works for you. read more

I joined CFNH about 9 months ago, and I can truly say that it's one of the best parts about living in New Haven. The coaches are friendly and knowledgeable, there's a great camaraderie among the athletes, and the programming is spot on. I really couldn't ask for a better place to work out. There are elite athletes working out among folks just starting out, and everyone gets a tailored workout to match their own fitness level. I think this is a good box with the potential to be a great one. Programming is useful (and challenging), it's a relatively big space, and the athletes are really great people. On the downside, it is more expensive than some other boxes, and you're sort of nickel and dimed. Payment schemes are not as straightforward as some other boxes ( you can pay for 3, 4 or unlimited workouts per week, all at different price levels. But if you do anything other than unlimited, you must 'use it or lose it,' as workouts that you do not 'use' one week will not translate over to the next. This is more stringent than other boxes I'm aware of). While coaches are generally encouraging, it can get really busy in there, so don't expect a lot of personal attention, or to be told when to correct your form, per se. Also, know that you will be responsible for your own well-being as nobody there is going to tell you to slow down even when you should. Overall I am glad I did this, but I think with some adjustments in staffing and business operations, this could be a really elite-level box. read more

When I first got started at CFNH everything seemed great. The people were nice, helpful, and wouldn't stop juicing us up about the sense of 'community' and 'family' we'd be joining after our On Ramp phase. So I finished up onramp and decided to join...that's when I realized it was mostly all smoke and mirrors. I say mostly because there were a few coaches that really did exude the welcoming demeanor I expected,but aside from those few it was relatively cold/stoic interaction with the other coaches, They offered zero flexibility for my membership when having to travel for business and/or vacations, so ultimately I was paying $120/month for no more than 4-6 classes. I'll concede the facility was solid and the workouts were good, but there's no real 'communal' feel as advertised. After the moonlighting phase of on-ramp where they're really just trying to get your several months commitment you're quickly forgotten, become just another contract they have on file, and they don't accomodate any real-life needs for flexibility to ensure it's members get the value out of their money. read more

I've never opened this app to write a review. This one deserves it. Two years of Crossfit @ Crossfit New Haven and I can say with total certainty this is the gym you need to sign up for. I did Crossfit in two other gyms in the west coast--both had cramped spaces, unfriendly people who are annoyed at newbies, and coaches who paid little attention to the needs (and form) of new attendees. A world apart here. A quality, spacious set-up, a friendly and diverse community (in backgrounds, ages, ethnicities), a fantastic, dedicated, meticulous on-ramping before you're released to open classes, and the asset that makes the real difference: attentive, caring coaches who notice where you need to improve, instruct you supportively, and compliment you when you push yourself and improve. This is the kind of Crossfit that builds habits. The kind of place that accompanies you as you strive to be a better you. I've done 2 years of Crossfit because I had this place in my city. I'm moving away, in love with Crossfit as a result of my experience here. I will hold all others to the gold standard that is Crossfit New Haven. You must try it (they even do free trial classes). I have been a member at Crossfit New Haven for two years now and I cannot recommend them enough. I joined because I was looking to get in better shape without going to a regular gym and having to think about what I should work on today. I've never stuck to a workout routine before I started at Crossfit New Haven. I tried another crossfit in the area before finding this place and was hooked from my first visit. Not all gyms are the same and not all instructors are equal. This place has knowledgable and encouraging coaches. I've spent significant amounts of time 5 different boxes, as I've moved around a bit between cities. CFNH is probably my favorite of the bunch. It's a pretty ideal facility--spacious, well lit, and with all the gear you need. What really makes CFNH great is the coaches, though. Not only have I found them all to be extremely knowledgable and helpful (both in terms of working on technique and helping push me through tough WODs), they're also incredibly fun people to be around. While CFNH definitely accommodates all skill levels, it's especially welcoming for beginners, as there aren't that many fire-breathing competitive athletes running around. That said, there are several athletes who do compete locally, which makes for a nice comparison tool. All in all, two big thumbs up! read more

The gym--and coaches, and members--really are this good. A friend joined a couple of years ago and was so positive about the experience that I tried it--and I'm still waking up at 5:15 to get in a WOD before work. It's a supportive, friendly community that sees the potential in everybody, teaches you how to do the moves and lifts correctly--and then challenges you to do things you never thought were possible.
