We were told about this place from someone who's in the AC industry. Our fridge decided to mess with us and with inspection, it would take a least 2 weeks for parts to arrive. Whatever we had in the fridge and freezer had to be moved around to a spare. Still needing loads of space, we were told about this place for dry ice to help with keeping things cold longer. Didn't know much about it but the staff were all very friendly. Also, not sure what prices for them go for. It was a minimum purchase of 10lb for dry ice I believe. That's about a slab of it. We went with 2 slabs which came up to over 50.00. I don't know if it was worth it. Staff was friendly, explained things about it to us. First off, they are open ALMOST 24 hours (if extra late or early - call to check) - they have very reasonable ($2.50 per pound - 10 lb min.) costs on Dry Ice as well as regular bagged ice. The very pleasant people there will give you advice on the best ice to use, how to use it and will even load into your vehicle. Our refrigerator's compressor unfortunately broke down recently and we had to resort to getting dry ice until we replace the fridge. The only "big box store" near us I know that sells dry ice is Smart and Final, but they only stay open until 10 PM... and just FYI, not all Smart and Final stores carry dry ice. We've gotten ice from these folks before, but we also just happened to be in the NoHo area that night. Very straightforward, no-nonsense folks and reasonable prices for the dry ice blocks ($2 per pound plus tax, minimum of 10 lbs. purchase required). They gave us some good advice too, such as unplugging our fridge to stop the fan and allow for better circulation with the dry ice. Despite the business hours here listed as open 24 hours, I would advise calling them ahead, at least if you plan to do a walk-up late at night. We called them around 11:30 PM and at that time they told us that they would be only open for walk-ups until around 12:30 AM. read more

Sammy showed up walked to the back to see where I wanted the ice and quickly returned to bring the ice and even opened them and placed them in ice chests and coolers we had out he even opened up beer boxes and helped place the beer in coolers. A while ago a close friend of mine had cancer. She chose to do cold-caps which have been known to prevent hair loss, basically a super cold hat to prevent blood flow during chemo (not looking to debate this, that's not the point here). Cold-caps require dry-ice. You have to swap them out frequently during the process of chemotherapy, all while dodging cables, bags, equipment, and helping a sick person, it's rough. So my friend went to Hollywood Ice late one night with her husband and two small children, chemo was due to happen for the first time the following morning, she was flustered and the children were tired, she was quite frankly scared. Regardless of it being late and unexpected the fellow on staff, a big, tattooed, handsome, tough looking fellow, was nothing but kindly and respectful, even going so far as to give a little extra ice as this was our first time and "This way you don't have to worry about wasting some" he said. He told her son how dry ice gets really foggy when combined with water ("But only with your Dad") and how that could be fun. This was one of many trips here throughout chemo, all were good.
