I've seen this place a couple of times on instagram and decided to give it a try with one of my close friends for her belated birthday dinner. Ambiance 10/10 Very light hearted and intimate. Perfect for a date night, girls night or even a solo date! We got there closer to 7:30 on a Thursday so we didn't need a reservation. It's a little loud but we were still able to have a conversation amongst ourselves. Service 10/10 Our server was so nice and funny. He was very patient with us since this was our first time here. Definitely had good recommendations and was honest about what was good to try. He was super attentive and the food came out relatively quick. Food 12/10 The food was greatttttt!!!!! We started out with the focaccia which was light and fluffy. It paired well with the olive oil and balsamic vinegar dipping oil. I had the spicy rigatoni and my friend had the lasagna. We were very happy with our entrees. My pasta was creamy spicy and very flavorful! Not going to lie should have order another for to-go. For dessert I got the seasonal butter cake which had caramel, bananas and vanilla ice cream. It was fabulous and the perfect way to finish off the night. My friend got the tiramisu and she loved it as well. I need to come back here again to try more food because man.... Everything was great! read more

This place is really good but WAY overpriced. The plates were melamine....sorry way overpriced to serve in melamine. It reminds me a little bit of Vapianos, esp with the open kitchen concept. We went for mothers day. The lady could not find my reservation. i had to show her. but something is wrong with their system because this happened to a friend of mine back in February as well. They ran out of ranch and N/A prosseco. It is okay bc the food was good. We ordered the fried zucca chips. OVERLY SALTED. did not enjoy. The burrata was delicious. I would get that again. The chicken parmesan was delicious. but it was odd it came with mac and cheese ziti or some kind of cheese sauce. Usually you serve chicken parm with spaghetti and sauce? The Bolognese was delicious and same with the chicken pesto. My sister got a arugula steak salad. The steak was really rare and they didnt even ask how she wanted it cooked. the little gem caesar was good but it had way too much dressing. way too much. the dessert was delicious. butter cake was amazing! Drinks: Cocktails were really good but OVERPRICED. $16-$17 dollars for a non fancy italian spot is wild. Ciao Bella was delicious though. This was my first time dining here, and everything was a 10/10! The drinks were amazing, and I really appreciated that they were able to custom make something for us that wasn't even on the menu. Edwin was our server, and he provided truly outstanding service--easily 10/10 customer care. He was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. We ordered the lasagna and the chicken Parmesan, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The food exceeded our expectations. Placed the order online and the pickup process went without a hitch. The eggplant Parmesan was nice and light. No oozing water or sogginess. The pasta didn't have a strong pesto taste. The pine nuts and capers didn't really add a contrasting crunch or flavors. It was rather bland and everything tasted mushy. I found some shreds of chicken that looked and tasted ropey / dry and stringy. My biggest gripe is the portion sizes of the food. As you can see in the pictures, the eggplant Parmesan arrived in a giant container looking like I already ate 75% of it. I understand it's supposed to be an appetizer and such, but it hardly had any sauce or anything beyond what was literally pictured. The pasta situation was the same. Few spoonfuls of mushy pasta and your meal is over. The order came with nothing else. No utensils, no accompanying salads or bread. For a $50 takeaway meal, I expected better than this. Would I order from here again? Probably not. I think the food is overpriced for what it is. There are many nicer Italian restaurants in the area with similar price points that provides better quality of food and value. read more

This was my first time visiting and I definitely plan on coming back with family. The staff were nice and accommodating. Talking to my waiter felt like I was talking to a friend, he was nice, informative, and attentive. The food looked great in the photos and it tasted just as food when I tried it. The pizza had a great balance of spice, sweetness, and smoked flavor. The garlic bread and Scampi were delicious. The red velvet was the cherry on top. The cake had a fluffy interior that wasn't sweet, the strawberry cream on top was where all the sweetness came from. So if you dont want your bite to be too sugary, you have more control on how much sweetness you want with each bit. The place was clean, felt relaxing, and felt like a place I'd visit often for good food and a chill space. Highly recommend them! read more

Visited North Italia with my family for a night out. The restaurant is spacious and can accommodate large groups. Since it is located in RTC, it is nice to walk around while waiting for a table if there is a wait. We started with the calamari which was pretty good. I ordered the house bolognese for my entree. As a pasta lover, I thought it had good flavor but it was not particularly memorable for a house special. Other dishes ordered by my group were decent. Some were better than others, but overall I think there was a lack of consistency between being good and others just being okay. Service was fine. I had a good time and would be open to returning to try other menu items. read more

This was a pleasant lunch spot after our family ice skating adventure. We took our kids to New York City to skate in Rockefeller and they have been insisting on doing it again. We live in DC and made the trip here since it seemed like a nice spot to skate with plenty of dining options for lunch. Not gonna lie, I was a little overwhelmed by the options for lunch. But we've enjoyed dinner at the North Italia in DC and I have to say this place didn't disappoint. Our server was great and allowed us to taste the wine on the menu before fully committing to the glass. Our daughter loved the pasta while our son chowed down the pizza. The meatballs were fabulous. It was certainly a highlight of the meal. The space is modern and nice. It's also just steps from the ice skating rink. We'd highly recommend stopping here after a day of ice skating. read more

Juxtaposed in the corner-entry area by the central plaza of Reston, you've got ambiance and plentiful parking. The wine selections are moderately extensive here. The foods are delicious. You'll find wide menu selections, and a passionate staff about quality control of the foods. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and checked in on us multiple times! We had a large group of 16. They were accommodating to the size of the party as well as the rate at which we ordered. Since we got some appetizers, I got a salad and the meatballs and polenta as my meal. The calamari was a little chewy but seasoned well and came with a zesty dipping sauce. I really enjoyed my meatballs and polenta. The meatballs were cooked perfectly and covered in a rich tomato sauce. The polenta was very creamy and not overwhelming. I had to try to cacio e pepe martini. It was fun to try- very interesting, however I dont think I would order it again. read more

Conveniently located in rest in town center. I was here to shop and I was lucky to get the reservation for the same day. Reservations can be difficult especially on weekends so better to plan ahead. I had the grilled Bronzino. It came with some veggies and a nice sauce.. It was pretty good. 6.5/10 for me. It had a hit of sweetness bec of which I deducted some points. For desert I had the butter cake. The flavor they had that day was the coconut butter cake with caramel drizzle, and a vanilla gelato. Coconut is not my favorite, but I decided to try it. We came during happy hour and ordered the zucchini chips and couple of cocktails then decided to stay for dinner. The food was incredible, but the service was lack luster. The restaurant was not busy as all, yet we were ignored by the two staff at the hostess station when we arrived, not even so much as a glance or a return hello - so much so that we had to approach the bartender for a table. I was in Reston for a work event and we had dinner at North Italia. This was my first visit to the location in Reston. I had once visited a location in Miami, Brickell District previously. The Miami location was great so my expectations for the Reston location were high. The restaurant decor made me feel like I having a meal I someone's Italian kitchen or market. The staff were great and they were able to accommodate my party of ~20 people over 2 tables. My only issue was that service was slow and getting appetizers, food orders, and drinks between 2 tables with 1 server who was also servicing other tables slowed things down quite a bit. I ordered the braised ribs Marsala. The dish was very good. The ribs were very tender. The portion of ribs/meal was smaller than I would have imagined. As a frequent and loyal customer of the North Italia location in Tysons, we were excited to order from the Reston location for convenience--but unfortunately, it was a huge mistake. We placed a takeout order specifically for our favorite dessert: the butter cake. What we received was incredibly disappointing. Instead of the well-packaged, thoughtfully separated toppings we've come to expect from the Tysons location, the Reston team served everything dumped together in one container. The rich chocolate fudge and berry compote were soaked into the cake, leaving it soggy and unappetizing. To top it off--literally--there was a single, tiny dollop of pistachio gelato, barely enough for one bite. At Tysons, they always separate each topping into its own container, preserving the integrity of the dessert and ensuring it travels well. They also provide a generous, adult-sized scoop of gelato. Reston's presentation was sloppy and careless by comparison. Honestly, I was shocked this was presented to a customer at all. What should have been a treat turned out to be a complete disappointment and a waste of money. We won't be returning to the Reston location again. read more

Came here randomly with my friends and we were promptly seated. First impression was that the inside is really nice and it's set up to have good vibes and be an enjoyable evening. The food is also excellent. White truffle garlic bread especially is very good, I recommend it for sure. Different and tasty. The prices are also reasonable. However I'm deducting 2 stars because the service from our waiter was truly abysmal. I will not name him as I don't want to publicly shame someone as I understand bad days can happen. However just to document the nights happenings, he didn't check on us once, the food took over 35 mins to come out, he forgot the toppings for the pizza like crush red pepper (and never even acknowledged it), took 15 minutes to get takeout boxes and the check. It's one thing to mess one thing up, but a whole another thing to completely forget a table and be unapologetic about it. I would return because the food is good, but be mindful that service might be a toss up. read more

First person to greet your party is the hostess. In our case, it started off in the wrong direction. The restaurant is busy but there were couple of booths in the back open so we asked to be seated there. We were told they were for larger parties. Strange, I sat there as party of 3 before and we are party of 3. Fine, we got seated in a round table. Shortly after we sat, the hostess took a party of 2 to the booth. Not sure why we were treated differently. The food itself was a mix bag. My wife's grilled Branzino was excellent and my son's Chicken Parmesan was delicious according to him. My Pig pizza was very salty maybe result of the ingredients. The Calamari Fritti was batter in thick coating but the dipping sauces was excellent. The Bombolini dessert reminds me of Beignets. If you are getting ice tea, it does have flavor. I think it say black tea but I got a hint of maybe hibiscus? One final act encounter with the hostess that night was right before our food arrives, they started moving table around and one was moved really closed to our table. We thought they were going to sit someone really close next to us when there are plenty of space in the restaurant. We had to physically move our table to distance ourselves. It turns out they were resetting the table to normal order. I do not understand why that can not be done at the end of the night instead of inconvenience to your guests. read more

I love all North Italias in DC and NOVA. But this location is the closest to giving you real Italy vibes. It is in the most beautifully-adorned corner of the Reston Town Center public square with a fountain and colorful flowers. If you sit outside, it is really the closest experience to being in a cosy and quaint Italian square, known as a piazza, and for people watching: You will be right across the main stage where there is usually something happening over the weekend. The food and drinks are within DMV price range, and you cannot go wrong with their fresh pasta. They have a breakfast menu, vice a dedicated brunch menu, but have classics like salmon avocado toast, breakfast sandwich, and American breakfast. Do recommend for the vibes outdoor. read more

The food is solid - not the best Italian food I've had but decent. I started with the truffle bread - it was delicious but the bottom pieces were soaked in butter to the point that they were soggy. Dinner, party of 2, on a Wed night - conveniently located at Reston Town Center with a parking garage close by (see Tips section for parking at RTC) - North Italia is next to the fountain and across the street from the pavilion/ice skating rink. Reservations accepted - recommend making them (why wouldn't you if you can!) - we arrived at 7P and the place was decently filled. First impressions looking around - IMPRESSED. See my pics. Loved the "open concept" of the entire restaurant with open kitchen visible at the back, large bar area to the right as you enter and a large dining area with some booths and tables admirably nicely spaced out. At night, the place is perfectly lit for a moody, relaxing ambiance - again, impressive. We each tried a specialty cocktail - a Pomegranate Mule and a Sicilian Marg. We both asked for medium ice - when the drinks came to our table they were not filled to the brim (see my pic). Now come on, bartender. Eye roll. You trying to one up the customer and be a smart a$$? Really how much more would it have cost you to fill up the glasses? The Mule was a thumbs-up, nice unique flavor and a refreshing sip - recommend. The Sicilian Marg was a miss. Though it LOOKED pretty in the glass, the taste was underwhelming. A nothing frankly. I couldn't taste the Grand Marnier AT ALL and the whole thing tasted like any other basic marg. Thumbs down. We ordered the Grilled Bread and Good Olive Oil app - know that the bread is heavily drizzled in balsamic. Ditto with the "Crispy" Brussels Sprouts app - DRENCHED in balsamic which overpowered the dish. Thumbs down. For our entrees, we both had fresh pasta dishes - the Strozzapreti (pasta with chicken, roasted mushrooms, spinach and parm cream sauce) and the Lumache Alla Norcina (pasta with fennel sausage in a white sauce). Both $24. Large portion sizes (we each took home leftovers), the dishes came out piping hot and stayed warm in the ceramic bowls they were served in. We were not offered parm cheese or fresh ground pepper as garnishes - a little surprised by that at an Italian restaurant - shouldn't that at least be offered? We did ask our server for parm. Both dishes were delicious and flavorful. WITH ONE (MAJOR imo) DING (read on), the whole evening was a thumbs-up at a restaurant we had both overlooked in RTC but had always wanted to try out. The detractor to our evening was the service - a 1 star ding. I don't think I've ever encountered such passive aggressive service by a server. She was pleasant enough when she first came to our table but shortly after, it was apparent she was trying hard to move our evening along...without **trying** to be obvious. But it was. We were there for a girls-night-out dinner, 2 friends who hadn't seen each other in a while. After we were seated, we took our time to order our first round of drinks. We took time to peruse the extensive menu. We ordered an app first. Then the entrees a bit later. We were enjoying each other's company, wanted to take our time and didn't want to be rushed. Our server either didn't "read the room" or did and didn't care. Maybe she thought she gave the appearance of being present and responsive but, to us, it was obvious her motive was to turn her tables. The way we decided to "deal" with her was to be passive-aggressive back and just ignore her pokes and prods to try to move our dinner along. It was irritating and annoying but we didn't let it ruin the mood. We could have stayed longer to enjoy the evening but, dang it, she broke us lol. We finally caved when she brought to-go containers without us even asking for them. HINT HINT. (The place had pretty much cleared out by that time so it wasn't like there were others waiting to be seated.) Her "reward" was a 15% tip - and that felt generous tbh. Very short sighted by someone obviously inexperienced in the nuances of fine dining service. This behavior I would expect (but still not tolerate) at a Chili's or a TGI Friday's. I MIGHT give North Italia one more chance just because most everything else about our dinner, including the restaurant's relaxed vibe and open ambiance and its close by location, was positive. If I do come back, I would tweak what I order but the food and cocktail menu is so extensive, there is a lot to choose from. But, bottom line, if I'm going to pay big bucks (see my pic of our dinner bill - $130 for 2) for upscale dining in an environment of ridiculously rising restaurant prices where customers have a choice of where to spend their hard earned bucks, impeccable service should ALWAYS be a given. So for that reason, North Italia gets a ding and should be more discerning in their hiring and training of customer-facing staff. (Was reallllly hoping this place might replace (or at least be an alternate option to) my current fave Italian restaurant, Alta Strada, which is further away but for now AS continues to reign supreme.) read more

Disappointed by this place after having had a really good experience at another location. The server took a little longer to get to us despite the restaurant not being very busy. He greeted us and took our orders and then never returned. Our food was served in a reasonable time and from that point forward nobody checked on us. We had to flag another worker down to have water refilled. And then had to go to the hostess to determine how to pay our bill. Throughout the experience we saw servers and bartenders spending a lot more time milling about, checking their phones and speaking with one another rather than focusing on patrons. Our tip reflected the service we received. The good food brought the rating up to a second star. read more

I love the North Italia in Nashville, so I was thrilled to find one within walking distance of my hotel while in Reston for a conference! The salad that I usually order wasn't on the menu, so I went with the Italian Farm salad. I now have a new favorite entree! We also ordered the truffle cheese bread to share, and it was out of this world. Our waiter was incredible! He was funny and super helpful. The service was fast. Oh man !!! I usually try to not give anyone a rating lower then 3 but this place ; the Reston Location needs serious Customer service Revamping from their corporate office. Right from the front entrance, when we walked in , they gave us a seat near the back near the bathrooms while there were plentiful seats open. When asked , they said they were reserved but at the same time another guest came behind us unreserved and were given the other open seatings. The front reception kept arguing and it was not pleasant! One of the on-site manager Vivianna did come to address the situation with us, that was very kind of her. She said she will send in the other Manager as well to talk to us so that they can address that such a situation does not happen again to another customer; the other manager did come as a formality and just asked us if we needed any water !!! He left without addressing anything. We settled in. They were quick to take the drinks order but the drinks took close to 45 minutes to come and when they did come the server was clumsy in dropping the drinks on the table and didn't care to wipe out the mess ! The appetizer's came in time-lapse of 20 minutes each that was frustrating. All of this just took away the experience of giving the food a genius taste try. The good part is that as the Truffle Bread took 40 minutes to come so they themselves took it out the bill and one of the pasta dishes ordered came out dry and tasteless so the chef redid the dish. I do appreciate them for this gesture. But all in all I doubt we would be returning to the Reston Location. Will give the McLean location a try next! read more

A meal here is always a pleaser! Recently, I met a friend for dinner and we ordered the bread with good olive oil. I usually love this bread, but it sat a little heavier (and a bit too sweet) this time. We did wind up asking for plain table bread too. I had the tuscan kale salad with salmon, and it was really good. Huge portions, fresh ingredients, and good service is a winning combination. read more
