Back for lunch for the first time in a long time. For a midweek lunch, they were not busy at all; no wait, just walk right in and get seated. Always good to find a place that serves breakfast all day and has traditional comfort foods. Yes, the portions are large, but the prices are high. The seats are hard; having some cushions would improve the comfort level a lot. After 90 minutes, I just could not sit anymore. The service was just OK. After taking our order, the waiter just disappeared. I was finally able to flag him down to pay the bill. From this experience, no need to rush back. It is just borderline acceptable. read more

Ted's Bulletin always delivers--consistent quality and service across all their DMV locations. I've been a regular at TB for a while now, and it never disappoints. We had a lovely brunch at the Reston location and sat outside with our dog. The service really stood out, the server even brought a bowl of water for our pup, which was such a thoughtful touch. I have been to Ted's bulletin numerous times. I have never had poor service there. The ambiance has always been amazing. The food has always been good. Recently, I had their brunch pasta. It was a perfect dish. The sauce was silky, creamy, cheesy, and savory. It was also spicy, which surprisingly complemented the other flavors in the dish. The poached egg was creamy and perfectly cooked. The pasta was al dente and was coated perfectly with the sauce. I highly recommend this dish. The steak and eggs were also lovely. The home fries were nicely crispy on the outside and soft and mushy on the inside. The scrambled eggs were moist. I liked their chimichuri sauce too. One year later and they continue to hit the mark. Nate, who sat me at table 43 was the smile I needed this morning. As I sit here I see him continue to hustle, seating customers. Carlos my waiter had a few tables he was working this morning. But, he was on top of it giving each table the attention they deserved all while hustling. He was very cordial. This visit I opted for the steak breakfast burrito, a strawberry tart, and a blackberry cucumber nojito. Carlos told me it was the TUBS in a burrito, with a little extra special touches. Sold. The kitchen staff were getting the job done. The attention to detail was noticed. The kitchen is open for all to see. What I appreciated was how quit they were. You never really heard them "screaming" out orders ready or talking loudly to each other. Every kitchen is different. But, having an open concept you have to act a certain way. I was very comfortable in my booth seating. My burrito came out pretty fast. I appreciate that the steak was smaller pieces. It's easier to navigate and eat. I was worried it would be long slivers of steak. But size pieces is the way to go for this burrito. The steak had fantastic flavor! It was marinated nicely. My burrito was $17. I think that's pretty fair for what I received. It was large, lots of steak and egg. It's the perfect protein packed meal. My blackberry cucumber nojito was the perfect start to a day for me. I decided I needed something for fun the. The average orange juice or apple juice. It's ok to treat yourself sometimes. Don't feel guilty. I LOVED that they had mocktails. In comparison to our most frequented Ashburn outpost, the interior here feels more cozy and old school rather than bright and modern. Despite a very busy dining and waiting room, the host sat us almost immediately during peak hours at a generously sized booth, a nice touch given we had our infant son in tow. The food here tasted consistent with what we have had at other locations of Ted's. While the food here does not necessarily amaze the palate, it is executed competently and the large menu caters to a variety of tastes with some creative, global touches. My wife always selects the Turkish eggs, which comprise a trio of poached eggs swimming in a garlicky yogurt and topped with piquant chili oil. The dish makes for a light, fresh breakfast with plenty of flavor. I opted for a Sichuan hot chicken sandwich. The cripsy, juicy chicken breast coated in a heavily seasoned chili dunk yielded a surprisingly flavorful bite. Despite the chicken quality, I did not love the sweet American style coleslaw that topped the sandwich nor the limp fries that arrived alongside. Service ran smoothly, as our waitress promptly took our orders, remained available throughout service, and even subbed out my wife's latte for no charge when she found the taste too sweet. Prices here are about $15-20 per entree which is standard for the Town Center and reasonable given portion sizes. Came in for a business lunch on a weekday. The place gets busy at lunch, but we got there before the lunch rush. The menu is loaded with some fun and tasty things, including their amazing breakfast items. I chose their new Szechuan Hot Chicken Sandwich for lunch and it was AMAZING! The heel on the bun was a little too small though and it wouldn't pickup properly without ending up all in my lap (or on the table), so I fork & knifed the sandwich...but WOW, it was amazing! So very tasty and I loved the hot sauce they dipped it in. The slaw on it was also incredible! And those fries were great too! The missing star come from the greeter/hostess station. I called when i was puling up so, like during the pandemic they could be ready to bring my order out. The sigh by the young woman who answered the phone was audible. When I pulled up and called again the eye rolling when answering the phone set her tone. They food was delivered to my vehicle and I drove off. Management might want to share that the front of the house staff serve as ambassadors for the whole experience. One of the best things about this location is the space--it's large enough to comfortably handle a steady weekend crowd. Food was I would say an 8.5 out of 10. I am a Biscuit sandwich snob and I have to say this sandwich left some to be desired. It needed a sauce to really bring all the flavors together. As this was a to-go order as part of their to-go menu, fortunately enough I had some Hot Honey to add to every bite. The biscuit was ~$9 for reference. Service here was ok. There was this waitress at the front that seemed disinterested and disengaged, who also had no clue about the To-Go Menu when I had asked. After showing a social media AD regarding the menu, did only a gentleman who was their coworker - recognize the menu and point me in the right direction. You have to order at the counter next to where the pop-tarts are on display. As these sandwiches are made-to-order, it takes about 15 minutes for them to be made. So it's probably best to just order it online for pickup. Ambiance of this restaurant is nice. It was pretty packed for a Saturday AM - so expect a wait for last minute walk-ins. read more

I would give 0 if I could but let me tell you what happened on Christmas Eve. I was able to book a reservation for 3pm for 5 people. We got to Reston Town Center, it took a few minutes to get thru the intersections waiting for the pedestrians to cross, got a parking spot in front of Capital Burger and proceeded to walk down with my 88 yr old mother only to arrive to find the doors locked. As we were looking in trying to figure out what was going on, a young girl (I'm assuming she was the hostess) opens the door and says, "we're closed, we closed at 3, there's a sign right there"....I asked, why was I allowed to make a reservation at 3 if you were closing at that time? The time I was trying to get in the door was 3:03pm. She responded, "oh, you have a reservation?", I said yes, at 3pm....she then responded, "well, you're late, you had to be inside the door at 3pm" and closed the door and locked it again. I looked at my 88 year old mom, in case you didn't catch that the 1st time, and said what a rude, you know what, this girl was, and we proceeded to walk back to the car. Never, EVER, will I come back to this restaurant. On Christmas Eve, telling me that because it was 3:03pm, which I don't believe that the reservation should have even been taken if 3pm was your closing time, that I could not be served and to have the door shut in my face. You want to close at 3, your last reservation time should be at 2. That's basics. read more

They have plenty of selections to choose from, which was great for someone picky like my daughter lol The waiter did a great job with balancing all of his tables and still being able to check on us. He made sure we had everything and was quick with service. The overall vibe (at least for that day) was very busy, but the manager was walking around to keep tabs on different parties to see who should be leaving next. This helped keep the flow of the foot traffic going and keep the wait time down I've come to this location a few times, and each time it has been a great time. We went for lunch today during weekday and no line at all during lunchtime. It might be due to the cold weather? I usually get the Rueben sandwich. Good amount of meat. Double meat available if needed. The sauce and sauerkraut are good. The accompanying French fries are ok. Other dish pictured is normal eggs, ham, hash brown with toast breakfast item. We thought we were going to a Ted's Bulletin in Cascades, but ended up here instead. Happy mistake as the food was what we were looking for and they have the same menus. The food was tasty, as expected. I stepped outside of my comfort zone and reached for the Duck Confit Hash which wasn't a "hash" in the stereotypical versions I know. It was a mix of the ingredients listed, but in larger pieces. I loved the flavor of the duck and the crispness of the potatoes. I asked for over medium eggs but I think I got the poached or over easy eggs anyway. I was happy to eat this dish without the eggs and ended up removing them mid meal. Unfortunately, that also removed the hollandaise and chives as well. But as I suspected, I did enjoy the dish even without the eggs. My husband, an avid omelet person, was disappointed to not find omelets on the menu; but he was pleased and filled with his Farmer's Scramble. He ended up taking the side of Sausage Gravy and Biscuits home for later enjoyment. The service was friendly but not completely on top of it for a fairly empty restaurant just before lunch. We waited a long time after the waitress graciously gave us extra time to decide what we wanted to order, for her to come back to us. And we also sat for a while waiting for our check to be picked up and processed. My husband had to catch her eye to wave her over. The ambience was cute and reminded me of a place the local office people of days gone by, maybe reporters, maybe politicians, would stop to eat and confer. I've been to Ted's a bunch of times but for some reason never reviewed them. This location is literally across from my office and whenever colleagues are in town we head here for breakfast. The Ted's Tarts are typically my go to along w the cheese grits so I ordered the Big Mark Breakfast since it comes w a Ted Tart of your choice and you can sub cheese grits for the hash browns. My coworker ordered the same except she went w the blueberry cheesecake tart (I went w strawberry). Funny thing is that the pastry dough for the strawberry tart was soooo much more flaky and overall better than the dough for the blueberry cheesecake tart. Additionally the cheese grits were also cold which was odd given that we were dining about 45 minutes after they opened and everything should've been freshly made and hot. Oh and they forgot the cheese on my scrambled eggs but charged me for it. Our lattes were great in addition to our server also being great too. Wasn't the best food experience I've had at a Ted's but I guess it just proves there's a difference between locations and the time of day you dine may also matter. read more

Recently dined at Ted's for dinner. The food was good, but just have one complaint about my grilled cheese. I paid extra for bacon and when the sandwich came out, bacon was only on one side of the sandwich and the grilled cheese was lacking cheese. It was a very thin layer and all of the cheese wasn't even melted. I did say something to the server and he brought out a plate of bacon to make up for it, but I just expected an ooey gooey thick layer of cheese for that cheese pull to dip into the delicious tomato soup. read more

Blueberry Cheesecake Ted's Tart Blueberry compote inside was good. There wasn't any cream cheese inside which made this falsely labeled. Or maybe I received a fluke one? The flour crust was crumbly. The size for the price was not worth it. Maple Pecan Ted's Tart I liked the pecan middle more than the blueberry. Both would be better if they were made to order or kept warm in the oven. Apple Spiced Pancakes The apple compote has nicely cube diced apples. It was great that it wasn't overly sweet. It just wasn't enough. The dollop of ricotta was good. The pancakes were a good size, the batter was a bit over mixed resulting in a chewier pancake. This stack doesn't come with anything else. I would get this again. Ted's Hash This was very good, even though it arrived lukewarm at best. I Cynivised my order by adding hollandaise sauce and had the eggs served poached. It was fabulous that it had real corned beef with the potatoes. The hollandaise sauce was cold as were the poached eggs. Aside from that it would be an item I would recommend. Mocha Latte Not enough mocha to give it any semblance of a chocolate taste. The espresso tasted burnt. It was just okay. Service Thank gosh they have food runners otherwise we would have never gotten our food. The wait staff is hit or miss. Our server never came back to bring more water, I had to ask the food runner for several items. We even had to ask them runner for our drink order. Of course he hung around quite a bit when the bill was dropped off. That energy should've been like that for the food and other parts of the day, not just watching us for payment. Totally delicious! I had the chicken Diane which was exactly as described on the menu. My daughter had the steak frites and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our cocktails were very tasty and our server, John, was very attentive. Our food came out very quickly on a Saturday afternoon. The last time I went, I got the country fried chicken. Overall, I felt my meal was missing flavor and the mashed potatoes were some of the worst I have had. We had a few Ted tarts for dessert, and those were very good. I liked the strawberry tart the best, it tasted like an early 2000's Pop-Tart (when Pop-Tarts were good). I went to Ted's with a group and it did take 30 minutes after our reservation time to be seated, so this might not be the best for groups to go. The waiter and my friend recommended that I ordered it to go. So, I did. When I got home, I popped it in the microwave for 10 seconds, then thoroughly enjoyed it. The tart was not overly sweet yet very pleasing and craving curbing. Then it was crisp in the right areas. I will most definitely be back whenever I crave a tart. I/we also had the breakfast burrito, the deviled eggs, and the pretzel. For the pretzel, I expected the cheese dip to hit a little better, however, the pretzel was able to stand on its own. The deviled eggs weren't as savory as I imagined that they would be. The breakfast burrito was fulfilling, however, there was just something missing.
