    Free parking at Woodbridge Plaza

What a beautiful park in the middle of Irvine! This is technically a private community around a lake where the trail is open to the public. The trail is about a mile long and loops around the lake. It is clean, peaceful, and really scenic! I've seen turtles, catfish, ducks, geese, and other wildlife here. I usually come on the weekends and I have never seen it crowded (not sure how many people know about it). For parking, I recommend parking at the adjacent shopping plaza -- the Woodbridge Village Center. From there, you can walk directly on a (wooden) bridge over to the lake! If you're really ambitious, you can also go south from the shopping plaza and you'll hit Mike Ward Community Park. And if you keep going you'll reach the "south end" of the lake. There are a lot of amenities around the lake (volleyball courts, lagoon, etc.) but they are open to residents only FYI.

North Lake Park is a quiet and peaceful park and lake in the Woodbridge area of Irvine. It's located at the North Lake Tennis Club where The Tennis Academy at Woodbridge is situated. There's a small parking lot. There are grassy areas, benches and tables, and kids playground, and a walking trail surrounding the lake. You can walk over the wooden bridge to get views of the lake that encompasses 25 acres. You'll see tons of ducks walking around and it's a nice place for a stroll or fishing.

Love north lake park! It's my go to for picnics on sunny SoCal days!! Absolutely love walking around the park, looking at the ducks/turtles, and picnic-ing in the shady grass fields. Plus if you go during specific times of the year you'll also see baby ducks!! Highly recommend and is one of my favorite parks locally that I go to once every few months!

Great vistas from any point of the edge. Awesome relaxing spot.

Great get away in the heart of Irvine, California. The views are very tranquile and very well maintained.

This was a great park to walk, sit and see all the beautiful creatures that inhabits it. I really enjoyed the sunny day I spent here. Would absolutely return.

North Lake Park - Irvine, CA This one's a trip. It's technically a private lake, but most locals treat it like public space--until you remember it's not. Two lakes, a couple of private beaches, and the kind of HOA-controlled tranquility that feels like it was plucked out of a 90s family drama. Maybe even late '80s. It's clean, well-kept, and oddly nostalgic for Irvine, which rarely leans retro. The area's changed. Used to hit this spot years ago--back then, more homogeneous. Now it's more mixed: Chinese, Middle Eastern, high schoolers ripping through, retirees walking tiny dogs, everyone coexisting in this perfectly paved loop. The associations still let the public in (kind of), but don't get it twisted--you're on private property. So forget your First Amendment rights if you're trying to shoot portraits or zip through on a scooter. There's a little island, some geese, plenty of dog stations, and the path's smooth for a jog or casual stroll. But it gets boring quick. No trails, no dirt, no surprises. You're locked into the loop, and after a few days, it all starts to blur. Still, if you live nearby and need a polite, HOA-approved breath of fresh air--it gets the job done. Just don't expect nature to get messy.

North Lake Park is a lake park located in Woodbridge, Barranca Pkwy. in Irvine. It is a quiet and peaceful place where you can enjoy beautiful scenery like a scene from a movie. If you walk around the lake, you can see a flock of ducks. They don't run away when you approach them, but rather approach people friendly. It seems like they are asking for food. In addition to ducks, you can also see cranes and migratory birds. It's really nice to be able to enjoy beautiful natural scenery in the middle of the city. Irvine is a really great place to live.

This is a great paved walking trail for those who have knee or ankle issues. The short loop around the lake is 1 mile so it's easy to keep track of the number of miles you are walking. The neighborhood is lovely to look at and everyone walking on the trail is super friendly. There are several ducks and geese around so make sure to avoid their poop and don't feed them either! Parking is very convenient. There is a large shopping plaza that connects to the lake via a bridge so you don't even need to cross the street to get on the trail. I have seen people fishing on the lake if that is your thing. There is also a small playground for the kiddos. One of my favorite walking trails in Irvine!

Lots of benches to sit on and enjoy the lake

Clean, well maintained park with lots of seating around the lake. Love coming here to read on a bench and enjoy the view. Pickleball courts, tennis courts, & beach volleyball.

They just peck at the grass all day. Fun to watch.

Beautiful location located in the Woodbridge neighborhood in Irvine. Great for a short walk, though there's no looping trail around the lake and no convenient way for the public to walk around some of the houses. There are also some recreational facilities like tennis courts and a kids playground. My main concern is that you need to be careful when walking, or else you may step in bird poop. Other than that, it was a great peaceful location for a short walk.

Look at that 6 pound large mouth bass.. caught in 20 minutes (and released)

The park is so beautiful, contrary to popular belief, it's accessible to the public.. The FISH here are huge and they are little fatties they are so easy to catch, throw bread in and once the ducks come they come too since they eat bread. The type of fish here are large mouth bass, look at the picture of my hit husband that caught one. He's caught a lot actually and he releases them after.

Have been coming up this lake for years! I've always loved walking around it. Very peaceful. It seems like it has gotten way more popular lately. It may be that the establishment across the street is more developed now. They have way more shops and outdoor seating facing the lake and even a children's playground. The geese are a bit aggressive and hiss at every passerby when they have babies around (even if the babies are so big you can't tell they're babies) so be aware of where your kid or dog is going. For anyone needing to use a bathroom it seems there is none available to public (the clubhouse is private) so you may have to make the trek across the street to that shopping center.. And even then there are no maps of the stores available. May have to pop into one of the stores.

This is a private park for residents and guests of Woodbridge. Lucky enough to check out this park while visiting friends. The playground is on the lake and is stunning! There is 1 gym feature that doubles for little ones and older kids. There are lots of ducks in the lake and they're not afraid of humans so they come right up to the steps. There's no barricades or fence by the water which to me seemed strange especially if it's right by the playground. That said, the view was amazing. No restrooms.

Last Tues was their ribbon-cutting ceremony inaugurating 8 brand-new public pickleball courts in Irvine. + Tall fences to minimize ball-on interferences. + Many tables and benches to sit around. + Many clean restrooms 1-3mins walk away. + Enough baseline room for retrieving lobs. . Okay sideline room for ATPs. . Wide skill range there, from novices to high-intermediate players. - LONG wait. Since the first day, crowds rushed in to line up for open play. The rack is already full with 30+ paddles. + During middle of the day (lunchtime), it's empty. . Only one rack queue for all 4 (or 8) open-play courts. - Starting yesterday (Fri 2/6/26) the other 4 courts became reservation crts. -- On the first day, it was chaotic. My paddle was first in line. A game ended and someone called next 4 and gave me my paddle. I turned to hop on an open court, but no court was open. I turned back and the queue had already shifted along, so there was no spot at the front for me to put my paddle back. I asked around. One person said he was in the same situation, then he grabbed an open 4-paddle holder to put his paddle back in front of the line. I tried to put mine in, but he kept blocking me out to let his folks put theirs in. I was dumbfounded, disgruntled, distraught. No one cared to help my situation. An Irvine city employee walked by, and I explained my situation to him. He couldn't offer much help. After a few min, I accepted my miserable situation and put my paddle back in the end of the line. I only got to play 1 game that day. - The city employees should've known better. Keep 1 or 2 members monitoring the hectic paddle queue to ensure no one gets cut in line. . Moral of the day: before removing your paddle from the front of the line to hop on the next court, make sure you know which court # you're going to, make sure the ppl there are leaving, make sure the other 3 ppl in your group of 4 are going with you. . Idea: If you do wind up in my situation, and you've already lost your place in line, one thing you can try is grab an empty 4-paddle holder, squeeze it in to the front of the line, and put your paddle in. Offer any 3 random ppl (who are already near the front of the line) to join your 1st-place paddle holder. If people object, explain your sad situation first. If they remain adamant, I guess the mission's a no-go, then you'll end up having to return your paddle to the end of the line. I'm only just thinking of this idea now. Didn't get to try it while I was caught up in the moment. Hope the same thing doesn't happen to you.

Without knowing what it is, I would've guessed this was just an open green space in the middle of Irvine. Little did I know, this place is a whole lot more interesting than that...and a beautiful gem, too! While there are multiples ways in and out of the sanctuary, the main entrance and parking lot is on Riparian right off of Campus Drive (there is a second, smaller lot on the Michelson end of the same street, but the stretch in between is gated off). Regardless of which way you get in, though, among the first things you'll probably notice is how big this place is and how peaceful and tranquil it feels. Walking along the dirt paths through their 300+ acres of foliage and ponds/marshes, it doesn't take long before you start to feel far removed from all of the nearby office complexes, strip malls, and housing communities. As much as we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon walking around, it could've been so much better if we had been better prepared. For one, we parked and entered by that smaller lot, so we missed out on checking out the learning center, Audubon house, visitor center, and the Duck Club. What's more, we also missed out on the butterfly garden and didn't see many birds or wildlife. Part of that could've just been due to the time of year we were here, but it probably would've helped if we had gotten ourselves informed as to what to keep an eye out for! As awesome as the San Joaquin Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary obviously is, perhaps the most impressive thing about it is how it was actually built to act as a water filter, but disguised as a nature preserve. Quite an accomplishment to build something to serve an infrastructural, urban need while still benefiting nature! Even more of a reason to come back on my next trip to spend more time exploring the rest of the preserve, learning center, birds, and butterflies!

The welcome center had a large sign out front advertising it and a big sign saying "open! Visitors welcome"... I was "welcomed", and I use this term loosely, by Barbara. I asked for information about the summer camp and she was very rude to me from the start and very unhelpful. She pointed to a wall with pamphlets and said "maybe there's information there", and then after about 30 seconds began making rude comments to my children because one of them asked to hold my hand "and it was much too loud". He was not being loud... he is 4 and spoke at a normal volume. I tried to quickly look for a pamphlet so we could leave since our presence was clearly not welcome... and when he asked if we could go outside I was again met with more rude comments from Barbara about my children. This is the first time an adult has ever spoken to my children in such a rude way - I was honestly so offended I will never go back there. I was in the visitor center less than 2 minutes but it was long enough to make a last impression and keep me away. I guess I'll look for summer camps else where.
