Landmark Home Warranty sent another company to fix our air conditioner. Their guy tried to fix it, but after he finished, we still had the same problem. He came back, but couldn't figure out why it was still doing the same thing. Decided to call North Mechanical and pay out of pocket to get the problem fixed right the first time. They sent out a young tech the next morning who has only been working for them for a month. After looking over the system for 10-15 minutes he figured out that the new fan had been mis-wired, fixed it and it worked fine. No new parts, so we were only charged for a service call. read more

I'm sorry to hear you're not satisfied with your condenser pad. I believe your existing pad is poured concrete, which is something we do not do; however, we could replace it with a prefabricated pad. They came and fixed our evap and they had to replace our float and belt but it took them four times to get it right. The bill for this was $400.00+ and the float and belt at HD was jut under $50. They overcharged us on this but it took weeks to clear this up and then we had to eat a very high bill...never again. read more

This is a recommendation and endorsement for Andrew Walker of North Mechanical Heating & Cooling. Here is the summary of our endorsement - WOW! Andrew really, really knows what he's doing! We called the North Mechanical main line on the afternoon of Friday, 08/16/24 and described our situation. For about a week the thermostat display would go blank intermittently and inexplicably, and the AC would go off. Then the thermostat display would come back on intermittently and inexplicably, and AC would come back on. We were wondering whether that might be a problem with the capacitor, and perhaps we should keep the AC off for fear of blowing out the whole system (Google search). I told them we understood it was a Friday afternoon, and we were prepared to "tough-out" the weekend (cold showers and floor fans) with the hope of a Monday appointment - it was 94 degrees in the house. They told us they would contact the on-call tech. In less than 45 minutes, Andrew called me back. Andrew asked several detailed questions to get a very good idea of where he would start his assessment of our situation upon his arrival. He was apologetic that he was just about to begin another assignment, but he would make every effort to arrive at our house within 2 1/2 to 3 hours from our phone call without jeopardizing his successful resolution of that client's needs. I replied jokingly, "we understand it's a Friday afternoon, and there are other folks in line ahead of us. For our part, we take a dim view of people, who 'cut ahead in line.' We can wait our turn." Within 2 hours from that phone call, Andrew called to say he had completed his other assignment and was on his way to us. Upon his arrival, he confirmed our earlier conversation and went right to work. He tested our system thoroughly, excluded unlikely possibilities, further tested likely possibilities and then reached his diagnosis. He addressed that diagnosis effectively - we had our air conditioner back! Although Andrew is also congenial, which we appreciate, he is a talented professional. He knows what he's doing, and he won't be diverted from successful completion of the assignment. Maybe the best thing we could say at this point is this. Furnace quit working so I called North and they responded quickly. The tech found the problem and had it working in 1 hour. That's the only good part of this review. The small part that needed replacing couldn't cost more than $20-30 dollars according to someone I spoke with who used to work in the HVAC profession. So 1 hour labor and an inexpensive part cost over $600. I sent an email their way asking for a breakdown of the charges but instead I got an explanation that they charge a "flat fee" so it's more fair for the company but it sure isn't fair for the customer. Needless to say I will never do business with this company again. read more

We originally had our unit installed by George Henry about 3 years ago about 2 years ago we started having trouble. Our compressor would just go off . We called George Henry to come out and look at the unit and they said that they couldn't find anything. They then tried to sell us a hard start kit for about 300.00. Upon further research these are only for units about 10 years or older. We decided to call another company.. North Mechanical and Andrew answered the call. Thanks Andrew! read more

Major disappointment. First, they were supposed to do our job 10 days ago. it took multiple calls to their office to finally get them to do anything after there initial diagnostic visit. In addition, they charged an outrageous service charge just show up the first time. then, as they needed to order a part,they then charged us another service call charge to install. The job took 5 minutes for their tech to do as they just needed to change out a minor part. We used this company 3-4 years ago, and they were great. Very disappointing this time. So we will look for a new heating and cooling company for our future work. Do not recommend at all. read more

This company is the best!!! We moved into an old home that needed a complete remodel but we had to live in it during the process. There was no heat or air conditioning in the home. North Mechanical was the only HVAC company in Payson that would work with us through the process, installing the system so we had heat and cool, and then completing the installation in stages as we progress with the remodeling. WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not use this company. We hired North Mechanical just before Thanksgiving 2015 to install a heater on our home that we had just purchased. We were told by their sales rep that it would take no more than 2 weeks. The job was finally completed in March 2016 and it was not completed properly. We actually had to hire another company to fix their incompetence. We were lied to on numerous occasions. Even the owners did not seem to care about getting the job done. They promised that we could do one year no interest financing, which was a lie. We were told initially the job would be $3,400 and it ended up being over $8,000. It was just the most horrible experience dealing with this company. For your own good please stay away. read more

Had an appointment for tuesday @ 8 to 9 a.m. my wife waited for hours and no show. She called this company and the female that answered told my wife that she called and cancelled. So my wife missed a day of work and rescheduled for today. She and i both work so i waited ( 8 to 9 a.m.) about 10 i called and spoke with k____y. She said we did not have an appointment and insisted that my wife called to cancel the day before (which was not true) and did not reschedule. So wether it was k___ys mistake or not she was a bit rude and insisted how wrong i was and said she would call me back. She did call back and trying to be appologetic said some one would be here shortley. They did come as promised and are gone to find a part. Finally, i called work and said i couldn't come in due to this abortion of customer service. My wife and i both missed a day of work. I hope others have had a better experience. read more

We have our RV located in an RV park up in Pine, AZ. Last June(2018), we had trouble with our AC unit and after calling around to different RV repair/service companies we were told they were booked out 2 weeks in advance and one RV repairman near Payson told us Pine was too far to come to work on an RV... Really ? So I called North Mechanical and they said " Yes, not only will we come out the next day but we're certified for Dometic service". (Dometic is a common brand of RV AC units and refrigerators etc). The guy that came was on time, very polite and all around good guy and had our issues addressed quickly. Tuesday 11/13/18 we arrived in Pine to find our propane regulator leaking. I found a regulator at a Payson hardware store and went home and installed it and when I turned the gas back on it began spewing propane out of the vent on the regulator. I thought I had used improper fittings after talking to just about every hardware, propane parts places, RV repair people who were as usual booked solid. Everyone had a different opinion as to why the regulator was doing what it was doing. Now I was confused and compressed highly flammable gas is nothing to mess with so I once again contacted North Mechanical, explained my situation and also I had no heat and couldn't use our cook stove. Night time lows were 20 degrees in Pine and it was a long cold night but Darin North juggled schedules and had a tech out to us that next day. Again, problem quickly solved, another great tech who was very polite, professional and right on time. We have heat and can cook again thanks to North mechanical. Good Job !!!! read more

Go to www.bbb.org and see their "C" rating. I hired them to repair a freon leak in a 4 yr. old heat pump. Their tech used an expensive method of testing -- $1,300 for diagnosis only. I paid because he said "anything else would damage the system components". If I wanted them to repair it, it would be another $1,000-$2,000, plus supplies and tax. I then had another company come out, start from scratch, diagnose AND repair for $600 TOTAL. After I filed a complaint with the BBB, the owner of NM promised me a $600 refund (bribe), but would only pay if I deleted the complaint and bad reviews in advance. The BBB will only "amend" complaints, not delete them (so companies can't buy a clean slate), so I never received any refund. Makes me wonder how many good reviews were paid for. read more

There is a reason why these guys are available when their competitors are booked. They have a history of being dishonest and putting in low quality AC/heating units. They told us our entire unit was shot at one property and needed to be replaced. We got a second opinion; they replaced a small part, and the unit has worked fine for years now. Despite this experience, we decided to give them another chance and called them to replace an old heating/AC unit at another property--only because we wanted a top-of-the-line model, and North Mechanical was the local dealer. We had hardly any problems with the previous unit that was over 20 years old; however, since NM replaced it with a brand new Rheem unit, we have had to call them several times. Sure, some of it is "under warranty," but it still adds up with labor, shipping, etc, and what's the point of putting in a brand new, top-of-the-line unit if it doesn't work as well as an old 20+ year old one?! After the latest service call on this newer unit, we were told it was the blower unit. We asked for a price to have it replaced, but we were told they'd have to check and get back to us. We were on vacation at the time, and had to give up an entire day waiting at the bottom of a mountain in CO to stay within range. We never did hear back from Mike, so we called a competitor who is taking care of the problem for us. Telling customers a entire unit needs to replaced when only a part will suffice, putting in faulty, expensive equipment, then not doing what you say you're going to do is not good business practice in my opinion. We had a different company come to our home to get a estimate to fix our heating and cooling unit. Their estimate was a bit higher then we thought it should be. We found out they work on commission. Don't use a company that works on commission like One Hour. We then called North Mechanical Heating and Cooling, they DO NOT work on commission. Lance was so Professional and explained each and everything in detail. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and trustworthy. Ask for Lance.
