Colonoscopies are not fun, but they are necessary. Everyone at NPSC made sure that for my third procedure here that I was well taken care of, and the whole procedure seemed effortless and pleasant. Marilyn checked me in at 6:15, making sure all the paperwork was complete and accurate. She was the first person I saw, and she set the tone: friendly, professional, and efficient. Susan took me back into the surgery center at 6:30, checking my vitals and getting me prepped for the procedure. She was pleasant, caring, professional, and thorough. Next, my anesthesiologist (Dr. K?) checked in on me. Like Susan, he was pleasant and thorough, professional the whole time. Bill was next, sorting out and organizing the paperwork, making sure that everything was in order. He, too, was friendly, professional & efficient. He was the one who wheeled me into the room where it happened. Edina was waiting for me. She adjusted my blankets, fluffed my pillow, and inserted my oxygen. She was an angel - so sweet and professional, too. David, friendly and busy, was also in the room, assisting Dr. LaCamera, who asked me questions in preparation for the colonoscopy. And then I was out! I woke up with Rose, who completed my discharge papers after checking my vitals. She was solicitous, professional, and sweet. She walked me to my car, where husband awaited, reminding me to rest and stay hydrated for the next 24 hours. This was an amazing, wonderful, perfect experience, and I am thrilled that I'm back on the 5 year plan (no polyps) and I WILL return here for the people who made this procedure painless and happy. read more

North Pinellas Surgery Center - Outside in the rain at 6AM - Surgeons Near Me - Dunedin, Florida

The nursing staff and surgery center staff at North Pinellas Surgery Center were exceptionally kind, attentive, and professional. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Anoop Goyal, who is a part owner of the practice, was the complete opposite. Dr. Goyal was the physician I had previously seen in his office and the person who ordered my endoscopy and colonoscopy. Despite that, before I was sedated for these invasive procedures, he did not introduce himself, say hello, explain what was about to happen, or have any meaningful conversation with me. When a physician who already knows your case is about to examine your stomach and intestines while you are unconscious, basic communication and reassurance should not be too much to expect. When I woke up from propofol, I was still disoriented and emotional. Dr. Goyal told me that he had taken biopsies but that it looked as though I "probably just have IBS." He provided no further explanation about what he saw, why the biopsies were taken, what they were testing for, or what would happen next. While he was there, I asked him to please ensure that my work note included the previous day, when I had been required to complete the colonoscopy preparation. The prep involved drinking a bowel-cleansing solution that caused constant, urgent diarrhea and made working completely unrealistic. I explained that I had a new job with no PTO and that I could lose my job and health insurance without documentation. His exact response was, "No way," and then he walked away. I left feeling dismissed, uninformed, and unsupported during an extremely vulnerable medical experience. The nursing and surgery center staff deserve recognition for how kindly they treated me, but that does not make up for the physician's lack of communication and compassion. I cannot recommend Dr. Goyal or his practice. If you want a physician who will speak to you before an invasive procedure, explain the findings afterward, and acknowledge the practical realities of medically required colonoscopy preparation, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. Would definitely recommend! I don't remember everyone's names but not a single staff member was unpleasant. They were all very kind and considerate. I'm only 20 but went in for a colonoscopy just to be sure that all was okay bowel/gut wise. I'm lactose intolerant and thought I might also have IBS as I cramp a lot in the abdominal region regardless of what I eat. I'm also in the restroom more than a few times daily which I felt wasn't quite normal. But all was fine and nothing was found to be of any concern. I've taken my son and my husband here for colonoscopies. Everyone was nice and the procedure was quick.

First, older adults or anyone without private transportation needs to go to another surgery center. They will not let you take an Uber. I wish I had known that before I went to Dr Golub. It doesn't make sense to spend your time and money seeing a doctor whose rules are so restrictive and difficult for old people. The endoscopy went OK but the lack of care and courtesy by the staff was discouraging. The demanding attitude of the assistants who don't know your physical limitations was frightening. I thought they were going to hurt me when they tried to move me so I had to tell them "No." I was bothered by laying on the IV line and struggled to get off the line and got no help whatsoever. The person who was there with the anesthesiologist was rude. The person who got me dressed after surgery was determined to do it her way regardless of my concerns. She could not understand that I needed to balance myself and that I could walk by holding onto a cart for balance. I do have an issue with balance plus two bad SI joints and I had just had IV sedation. But she had to do it her way regardless. She rushed me to a chair to wait for the doctor. Then she got upset when I told her I wanted to look at the letters before I placed them in the bag. She said something like, 'I'm not going to take anything out of your bag.' I need to handle the 10 lb bag myself b/c of the balance issue. She was was wearing a name tag but it was covered by her hair. There was a nice man who said he was a surgical assistant and he got me some warm blankets. He was the only person who cared if I was comfortable. This place is a factory and I was a thing to them. The person who called me with instructions before the surgery, I think it was Nina, was very helpful. I thought this was going to be a better experience based on my interaction with her. read more

I recently had a procedure performed at Baycare's North Pinellas Surgery Center and can not stop raving about the level of compassion, professionalism and caring the entire team showed me and my wife. There was a change in locations for my procedure which I found out the morning of as I went to the wrong facility but as soon as it was discovered everyone went out of their way to expedite my check in, pre-op and movement to the procedure. My blood pressure was elevated due to me rushing to get there (45 minutes late) and the calming and caring atmosphere helped lower my pressure quickly so I could have the procedure completed. At no time was I rushed or a process skipped ensuring I was well cared for and ready to go. I can't thank the staff there enough for their kindness and quality of care received. A special shout out to Nurse Nina who orchestrated everything, a true professional!! Thank you all! The follow up call the next day was a nice touch too, greatly appreciated. read more

The nurses and Dr Devicente are fantastic great bedside manner and customer care. However the front office staff specifically the women who does the billing with blonde curly hair and wears glasses is EXTREMELY rude. My BCBS already explained benefit break down and PT responsibility before I had procedure done and I tried explaining to her and she was very rude explaining how the doctor wrote it and she NEVER bills things incorrectly . She spoke to me as if I were a child and did not know what I was saying she then rudely told me she will go through insurance and then she will bill me then dismissed me from the counter. I do not mind paying towards deductibles and co payments but to treat people that way is uncalled for. read more

It's true, who really wants to be here? The building from the outside looks very old. The inside looks a little better, but not by much. It is very clean, but is far from being state-of-the-art. I didn't care for the front office staff. They were very abrupt. The nurses were very friendly and nice though. They really take care of the patients. There is no privacy in the pre-op or recovery room. So be careful what you say. Although others forget, and that can be quite comical while you wait. read more

If you are good with being herded along like cattle in a drive to be stamped done this is your location!! Let me tell you about my true experience at North Pinellas Surgery Center. Arrived on time to a locked door and a grumbling patent who obviously had same check in as me but no attendant at the door. First thing I come across is angered words by another same time check in patient and the receptionist. Fast forward, same receptionist snaps at door attendant to not bring in next person until she is ready! Sit and wait in a very uncomfortable dated area with VERY stark lights. My name was shouted as next!! No exchange except shown to a bed with a tossed gown (unfolded, is that clean?) and told to change, sign papers. Stone faced anesthesiologist comes in grunts a few questions then acts like I am holding up the line wants to give me extra drugs. Not one bit of personal interaction. Then, throws open curtain so I am now staring at one of the other (opposite sex) 6:30 check in herd. Awkward! Refused extra drugs and was sent away cancelled. My Dr. did not even care to speak to me, I asked to see him and he was busy moving me out for next cow in line. HORRIBLE PLACE! Very impersonal to patients. On June 24, I underwent a colonoscopy with Dr. Steckler. The care before and after was excellent. However, the special care of Betty (before) and Judy (after) was exceptional.
