Dr. Nguyen and his staff practically saved my life! I had been putting off my loose molar and…read moreabscess for several months because my family and I had to travel across the country from NH to AZ to take care of my 94 y.o. father-in-law. My dental condition became so severe that my lower jaw started hurting and the adjacent cheek became very swollen. I was unable to eat or swallow without pain. My husband called several dental offices in the area and his calls were unanswered (these were "dental emergency" phone numbers) until Zoe answered the phone. At first, they were not able to see me, but then she called again and told us they had a cancellation that afternoon (on a Saturday). Dr. Nguyen told me I needed to have the tooth pulled at that time, but my BP was very high. Was told to go back on Monday when my blood pressure stabilized and had the deed done! Dr. Nguyen was very knowledgeable and kind. I was terrified being in a dental chair with my mouth open, hearing the scraping sound of metal against bone. Zoey helped by rubbing my shoulder during the procedure and Dr. Nguyen would stop and inject more pain medication whenever I winced. Opted to have a bone graft for a future dental implant. Diana at the front office was also very pleasant and even remembered my name when I came back to have the stitches removed. So grateful to have found La Cholla Dental!

It's hard to be enthusiastic about a molar extraction but if you must, you will be in good hands…read morewith either Dr. Prokes or Dr. Kaiser. The extraction wasn't fun, although not painful. The pain started a couple of days later. The staff was helpful and available for me more than I could have imagined. And, they stuck with me until I was healed. This review regards incompetent and uncaring treatment by Dr. Prokes at Casas Adobe Oral &…read moreMaxillofacial Surgery on Swan Rd., not La Cholla, but they seem to be the same organization. I had appointment for tooth extraction without sedation on 6/12/26. I had undergone 2 root canal (RC) treatments on the tooth with pain remaining after 2 months. My endodontist said I would need to have a 3rd RC (no guarantee of success) or get the tooth extracted (guaranteed success). I chose to have the tooth extracted and thus the appointment at Casas. I had a referral and also verbally explained to Dr. Prokes what I described above. She seemed confused and left the room to call my endodontist. She came back and said I didn't need any more RC treatments nor a tooth extraction. I was confused but of course happy to hear that, and subsequently left. Turns out Dr. Prokes did not speak to my endodontist, but to customer service who was uninformed. A week or so later, after my last antibiotic cycle had ended, the pain came raging back, and I found out that the tooth next to the originally infected tooth was now also infected. So I have to make the decision to extract them or more RC treatments on both teeth. Part of that decision is the cost of each option. I decided if I extracted the teeth, I wanted to have sedation. Casas said I had to come in again to discuss sedation with Dr. Prokes to get the cost, which I can't get. (My insurance requires provider to submit pre-estimate request to get quote, which takes minutes at most). I made an appointment for July 8, and was told I needed to get referral for the 2nd tooth before then. My dentist told me by email that he had submitted it to Casas on July 1, but Casas on July 3 still hadn't received it. Both my dentist and endodontist are out of the office this week due to the holiday, so I can't get another referral until Monday (my appointment is Wed.). To help with Dr. Prokes' confusion, I wrote a detailed history on all treatment, etc. associated with the 1st tooth and the diagnosis of the 2nd tooth. I explained I wasn't sure yet whether to extract 1, 2 or none of the teeth, but needed the cost info to decide. I got a call from Casas the next day on 7/3 saying Dr. Prokes said to cancel my appointment because I didn't have both referrals. Again I could get the 2nd one on Monday. Also, she wanted to talk to my dentist to make sure I needed the tooth/teeth extractions. This suggests I'm some kind of kook who wants teeth pulled out that don't need to be extracted. Note I have all of my teeth and am 61 years old. From Casas' website, it looks like there are at least 5 other oral surgeons at Casas. None of the others have had timely appointments open in 1 or 2 weeks....only Dr. Prokes has availability. Now I know why.....apparently nobody recommends her to others. I suggest you don't see Dr. Prokes, who doesn't seem to comprehend the English language nor care about her patients. I thinks it's likely that if Prokes had extracted the initial tooth when I went there for that purpose, the infection might not have spread into the 2nd tooth, costing me significant extra costs and substantial pain. How cruel that because of Prokes, I have to start over with RFQ with another facility, as I certainly won't ever go back to Casas. How hard would it have been to just give me a quotation for sedation, especially since I had already been to the facility? Certainly no harm would come of this. No treatment or tooth extraction was going to be performed on 7/8.....just discussion of sedation (and I've had sedation several times in my life) and finally telling me how much it would cost. I understand needing the referral, which I could have had re-sent on 7/6, and certainly well before any tooth extractions would be performed. It's just hard to fathom these stupid rules, and the incompetence and lack of empathy of Dr. Prokes.

I had previously briefly been a patient of the sister Oro Valley Dental practice (equally awesome!)…read moreand this was my first experience at Orange Grove Dental. And it was for an extraction procedure. Well, I'm writing this about 2 weeks after that procedure. I was happy walking out of the office the day of the procedure, and I'm even happier now with a completely smooth recovery. First of all, the office staff are absolutely OUTSTANDING. I don't know how you could possibly get better customer service. And the waiting area is a very pleasant environment, there's bottled water, and it's very comfortable. Every aspect of interacting with the support staff was excellent - scheduling, reminders, billing, you name it. All done pleasantly and efficiently. Then there was the extraction itself. Not that I'm running any dental procedure races here, but my goodness, I'm pretty sure my procedure - an extraction with a bone graft - was done in under half an hour! Amazing! Dr. Ham explained what he was planning to do, executed on it, I had NO pain whatsoever during the procedure, and get THIS - while yes, they highly encouraged me to take a pain killer the minute I got home, I really didn't feel the need to do so and I have not once taken ANY pain medication AFTER the procedure. Didn't need to, no pain! Sure I may have had some bleeding - expected - the day of the procedure, and had to put some gauze in the vacated spot where the tooth had been, but after that, no more bleeding the next day, and on the road to a smooth recovery. I don't know how I could be any happier with a dental practice. I mean, I bet nobody LIKES going to the dentist, but if you do have to go, this is an excellent place to get your dental work done. I plan to continue being a patient here.

BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! I needed to have some dental work…read moredone. called this office as it was in network of my (insurance plan, more on that later). Went to the first appointment, x-rays and exam, needed a broken tooth repaired , one filling and an extraction. Asked for a quote with my insurance. Was given the quote and everything seemed ok. I paid the first visit $30 which was correct and informed front desk that I would have to do things in stages and proceeded to schedule an appointment for the filling first. A week later I was back for the filling, I was taken right in and they went to work. There was no issue with the work or the staff. Everything went downhill when I went to pay. Ironically the first front office lady that had helped me was not in that day. I was assisted by another person who told me the bill was over $100. I informed her that was not what my quote said nor was in the amount that was stated on my insurance schedule of benefits. Her response: "Oh, well you were quoted incorrectly but since you have a quote we will have to honor it" Darn right, you do! THEN she went on to tell me that my insurance wasn't actually insurance but rather a "dental discount plan". And since it was a discount plan that it didn't cover the area that the filling was done in so it was going to be $20 more. I called my INSURANCE company, explained what went on, and they basically told me that I was scammed by this office, that I in fact DO have dental INSURANCE. I filed an ethics complaint and their practices are currently under review. Interestingly enough on my account for insurance they did file the claim for the initial visit which shows the amount that I should have paid, which was correct. However, For the first procedure, NO CLAIM filed. Someone had a good lunch that day. They called me every three days for two weeks trying to schedule my next procedure. You got me once but WILL NOT get me again.

They handled the confusion in getting my prescription filled in minutes. Extremely kind, courteous, and professional. The Dentists should feel blessed to have them working there. Tried a new place because I was dissapointed in the front office at my old place. I left this place feeling traumatized. As I write this review, weeks later, I still feel emotional. Anger, hurt, and sad should not be words used to describe a customer experience. I had to reschedule my new patient consult once initially as I was told the appointment would be 2 hours and I wanted to make sure I had child care and could get off work. I called today (for a second time) as the appt in November would no longer work for me. It's October 14th. The man seemed irritated and told me they have a policy for rescheduling and was like "well what's the reason"? When I explained I was a single mom and knew for sure I would have help in December when I wanted to reschedule there was no kindness or understanding. I'm not asking for pity, but to have a "policy" about rescheduling a new patient appointment weeks in advance seems unfair. This was by no means last minute or just because. I had valid reasons. It is unfortunate as this is close to my house and seemed to have good reviews through UHC. This person could definitely benefit from additional training.
