My option in traditional medicine was to take pain pills until it was bad enough for surgery. At the end of September I could barely use my arm and the pain was constant. I was desperate and figured what do I have to lose. 3 treatments in, I had regained 50 percent of my mobility and constant pain was gone with only pain in certain movements. After the 5th and final week I was at 80 percent and pain was almost completely gone. I'm now 3 weeks into physical therapy and my therapist is amazed at how quickly my strength and mobility is progressing at each visit, especially for someone my age. The staff was by far the best part of my experience at Pinnacle. During my visits I interacted with every member of the staff. Every one was friendly and professional. The injections I received in my joint can be painful. However, the expertise of the staff ensured it was as pain free as possible. Given what I do and the hundreds of visits to medical facilities over the years, you know if someone is good at their job, especially with long needles. I've had nerves hit, tendons hit, and bones hit. Not pleasant. Given the complexity of the shoulder it is a minefield of pain waiting to happen. The professionals at Pinnacle never made a single misstep. Not one. It was truly amazing. I'd never had acupuncture before and that was an eye opening experience. It was so relaxing. And then there was Tam, behind the front desk. He has a great personality and was always making sure you were comfortable and taken care of. His communication about appointments was excellent sending reminders and making sure you knew what was going on. On each visit I would see multiple staff members and would get text reminders of who I was seeing at what time so I always knew what would happen that day. Unheard of! The entire experience was amazing. The results are phenomenal. I don't know why I waited so long. I don't do reviews so this is a first for me. I never thought I'd be able to use my arm again, so I have to say something. Thank you so much to the staff at Pinnacle. Thanks to you I can continue doing what I love, riding like an idiot. Never written a review for anything before but I just have to encourage everyone interested in acupuncture to check out NSCA. I've had a fair amount of acupuncture in the past and when someone I know recommended this place, I was interested in trying it out. Having only had "private" acupuncture in the past, I was a little concerned about the community nature of it-I don't know exactly what I expected but it was not the incredibly warm, friendly, attentive and beautiful setting Steve and the crew have created. In addition to being a very inviting and peaceful atmosphere, Steve and the rest of the crew (I've had acupuncture from almost everyone there) are very skilled and effective. I went in one day after awakening with severe back pain in my lower spine. I've herniated discs before and was really concerned I'd done it again. Steve examined my back, explained that I was having muscle spasms in certain muscles that attach to the spine, which is what was causing my spinal pain. Steve set me up in the back room on one of their tables, placed needles in various areas and I promptly fell asleep. When I woke, the pain in my spine was completely gone and did not return. I was really surprised and grateful. I've also suffered with chronic tendinitis in my right elbow due to a severe injury many years ago. The last time it flared up, I went to Steve and again after the treatment, felt immediate and very significant relief from the pain and swelling that has been long-lasting. Overall, I can't recommend this place enough. The staff are all very caring and extremely competent. The atmosphere in the clinic is warm, inviting and feels very safe and comfortable. The sliding scale fee structure is great. Even though I have insurance that pays for private acupuncture treatment, I'd much rather go here. FYI - I belive they are now also open on Sundays. read more

Last January, I had one of the worst cases of what I call the "achey breakies" I've ever had. This malady tends to strike during the cold, damp, foggy stretches we enjoy here in Seattle come late fall, winter. "It" invades my neck muscles, knees, joints and more. "It" putrefies my overall disposition as well. I knew I was in trouble when 600 mg of Ibuprofen, multiple slatherings of ointments, stretching, soaking in the tub, and even a stab at heavy drinking did little to help. What did help was beginning regular acupuncture treatments at another community clinic in Seattle. The results weren't sudden, but I enjoyed significant relief over a period of weeks to months. In the beginning, I'd feel worse before getting better. That's not unusual. I began treatments at "North Sea" when they opened up their clinic very close to where I live. I'm not suffering from the "achey breakies" these days, but am trying to recover a rickety swollen knee. I also suffer periodic bouts of burnout from being a caretaker You can tell right away that Steve is a very experienced pro in his field. It's also obvious that he's a teacher as he explains the nature of the points he choosing. He is so skilled at placing the needles, I hardly felt a thing. I think Steve is very intuitive in his work as well. After two visits, I am able to walk farther without my knee swelling. In addition, I feel my coping ability has improved. I really like the space Steve and his wife have put together. There are two rooms to choose from with slightly different color schemes. The chairs are light and easy to adjust for reclining. I'm very grateful that Steve and others are offering these clinics. I'm pretty sure I'd still go the community clinic route, even with a higher income. read more

I have been to over a dozen acupuncturists for chronic pain, sciatica, ear aches, stress, depression, and digestive problems. Steve is hands down, the best acupuncturist I've had the pleasure of working with. I recommend NorthSeaForMe to everyone I know! Steve is knowledgable, friendly, calm/gentle, caring, and funny to boot! I appreciate that he teaches me about the points he is doing, asks questions about my health needs I wouldn't think acupuncture could help with, and is genuinely interested in my well-being. As for the setting, there are multiple styles of chairs to choose from and even a table. The variety of options is really helpful and this is the only community acupuncture place I've been that has a table - which is great for certain conditions. Additionally, it is sliding-scale, pay what you can and they trust you to know! So many places ask you your income or there is an awkward exchange. Not true at all here! As a mom with a toddler, I was on my 5th random cold in as many months. I'd been seeing Steve regularly for another issue, mentioned the cold, and he needled me for it. My cold was gone within 24 hours. Acupuncture continues to amaze me! I chose community style acupuncture because it fit my unemployed budget. I was a little concerned about privacy, but Steve is very conscious about that and it wasn't an issue. Steve has put a lot of attention into the details of his clinic - from the private intake room and drop box for payments to the cozy chairs and blankets. Best community acupuncture clinic i've been to, and I've been to quite a few in different states. I actually ended up being treated by all the practitioners there (they work different days) and had a wonderful experience with everyone. They are so caring and compassionate and really take the time to understand your needs. What's unique about this clinic is they have a little room to talk with you in first before treatment, where other clinics just try whispering by your side. I've had a lot of acupuncture over the last few years and I must say, Steve is a very skilled practitioner. He has a calm presence and is easy to talk to. The needles didn't hurt at all, while still being really effective. The treatment room was comfortable, with nice recliners and a warm temperature. The atmosphere inside is very pleasant, and Dr. Norton takes the time to help you understand your treatment plan and what to expect. The staff are all so friendly, they make you feel immediately welcome. I look forward to my brief chats with Grace, Reylani, and Emma each time, and I don't always love talking to people!
