Large site, beautiful surroundings. Only problem was that I couldn't get hot water in the shower!

This was our first time camping here after struggling to get a reservation after many years. We didn't have much of a choice for our campsite, but FWIW, the campsite was still pretty clutch. We were close to showers and bathrooms, and our neighbors on both sides were very polite and pretty quiet (or kept to themselves; not blasting music or being overly loud). We were close to the lake so we were able to walk and check it out. Camp hosts were around to keep the bathrooms clean and to be around for any questions. If you walk around, you might see a camp host selling firewood at their site, which was really helpful so you didn't have to drive all the way to the front to purchase more. Overall, loved our stay. I am not sure if we would camp here again, but still enjoyed our time here. Thank you! read more

Review 63/365 day challenge Updating my review, 2nd time staying at this campground. We enjoyed it a lot 2 years/2 summers ago and returning 08.13-15.25 for another family summer camping trip. We're at Campground # 28 Campground # 27 is accommodating for disabilities. Which was right across from our campground # 28. #27 had majority all pavement in the campsite. Around the picnic table along they have their own water spout for water use. Also located closest to the restroom/showers, has a pavement road leading up to it for easy access. REMINDER there is no washing dishes sink available on these campgrounds nor can you use the restroom sinks to wash anything. There is a sign that it isn't allowed. So make sure to bring your own water! This time around downfall is the electrical plugs in both of the restrooms, weren't working the 2 nights stay we were there. I asked the associates that were driving around daily regards to the power. They told me it's a hit or miss. Sometimes the power isn't working and there's nothing that can be done to fix it. The downfall. Love the Serrano campground since it's not far from the actual Big Bear village. Still definitely recommend it. Really clean & everyone is respecting each other especially at night. read more

You like camping, but don't want to drive 3 to 4 hours away. This campsite is located in the north shore area of Big Bear Lake. Approximately a 1hour, 40 minutes drive from West Covina. Campsite was very nice, clean & very well kept. Campsite host on site. Our campsite was a double site, #32/33, and was wonderfully beautiful. Restrooms & showers located nearby, plenty of shade spots for tent setup. Numerous hiking trails available, short walk to lake for fishing, (purchase fishing license before you arrive) bike riding, and boat rentals are also offered, but kind of expensive. Must reserve sites, 6 months ahead. We'll definitely come back, maybe annually. read more

Nice family campground in Fawnskin side of Big Bear lake. Very friendly host and the restrooms were kept clean. Not too many people were camping here on a Monday night in October, so it was quiet and peaceful. We had a secluded spot under the trees and near the restroom. Fires were allowed in fire ring as well. A bear box is included at each site as well as a picnic table. You must back your vehicle into your site. Great place to take the family tent camping or RV too! Dogs must be on leash at all times. read more

My boyfriend and I came to Serrano campground as a last minute switch after driving all the way up to big bear and finding our intended camp ground closed without warning. What a wonderful campground it was! We got to the campground around 5pm when the person in the payment kiosk was shutting down for the night, and told us they would be back in the morning around 9 and we could pay the 45$/car fee on our way out. There were three main sections for camping, and there were open spots in all section. However, if you want a view of the lake, I recommend making a reservation since those spots were all taken. Regardless, there were lots of very nice spots available without previous reservation. All lots had fire rings and there were quite a few pinecones all over the floor as well as a few water spouts. There were also quite a few handicapped lots that were paved from the car parking spot, around the campfire , and had a paved trail to the bathroom nearby! The handicapped lot also had a water spout. The bathrooms were so clean! Real toilets and sinks with plumbing. There was toilet paper but no paper towels, only air dryers. There were also around 5 showers per bathroom with several bathrooms spread throughout the campground. We didn't use the showers ourselves. Everyone followed the 10pm quiet hour rule, but we could hear the highway from our spot so if that bothers you choose a lot further away from it! From our campground we were able to walk down to the lake and walk around there. There are some bike trails nearby too. Overall it was a fantastic campground that I can't wait to return to! Beautiful, fun, family friendly camping site! It was my first time here with my family and friends total of 12 people two kids. The spots must be reserved before arrival depending on where you set up you'll have big spaces! We set up in 089 Star, big spaces and walking distance to the lake! There were also bathrooms with five showers only a couple steps away from our set up! The showers run hot and cold water they're just a little tricky to work. The bathrooms are always clean, I would see a man daily cleaning the bathrooms and showers, thank you Serrano for still being attentive and clean Overall great campsite, 10 mins from the village, would come again! read more

This is a wonderful campground with plenty of shade throughout, making it easy to find a great spot for your tent. We were lucky enough to reserve a group campsite, which offered ample space for our group of 10. They sell firewood on-site, so you never have to worry about that. The campground is within walking distance to a lake, and there's a bike path nearby. Plus, you're just a short drive away from other activities. The restrooms were as clean as you can expect for a campsite, and while the showers could use some improvement, it's camping--no complaints here! read more

Great family friendly campground! We loved our stay here with our 3 and 6 year olds. Our sites were well shaded and we loved hanging out in hammocks amongst the trees. The sites were well maintained and bathrooms were always clean. There's a trail close to the campsites for a nice stroll or bike ride. The Big Bear Discovery Center just half a mile away. They offer guided walking tours at 11am and 1pm on the weekends where they talk about the trees and animals in the area. Both kids and adults enjoyed the walk. Getting there was a little precarious because there's no crosswalks or side walk. Overall highly recommend! read more

It was my first time visiting the Big Bear area since I was a kid, and my best friend and I planned a three-day group trip with friends. The experience was amazing! The park rangers were incredibly friendly, and the campground was spotless, including the well-stocked and clean restrooms. Huge shoutout to Thomas! We reported a broken tree branch in our campsite that looked like a potential hazard, and the rangers responded immediately. Thomas was not only knowledgeable but also super kind; you can tell the rangers here truly care about the park and their work. On day two, we had a bag of trash that needed to be thrown away at a dumpster farther from our campsite. As we were figuring out how to take it over, a ranger kindly offered to take it for us while he was getting ready to clean the site next to ours after the previous campers had left. It was such a thoughtful gesture! We had such a great time and will definitely be coming back! read more

Campground on the North shore. First of all this place is super clean the camp host do a great job. Bathrooms were clean flush toilets plenty of toilet paper but no paper towels bring your own. Trashcans in the bathroom were always empty. The camp host is cleaning the restrooms first thing in the morning. Showers are free here but the shower heads are little crazy because prepared to get wet. The camp host drive around constantly keeping things tidy and in order. This campground holds a lot of people they have hookups. You can walk to the lake. There is a little store you can rent bikes or e-bike take a trip around the lake or the campsites. Super clean, well maintained camp ground! The sites are big, shaded and quiet. Hot showers that are free and bathrooms are cleaned throughout the day. The staff is sooo friendly. Thomas the camp host is a great guy, we had a long conversation with him about the area when he was driving by. We are going to make it a yearly thing. A beautiful campsite. Pretty accurate with their online descriptions of shady, partly Shady etc. part of our family enjoyed full hookups while the other part enjoyed very spacious tent sites. Showers were a huge bonus! We look forward to coming back again soon! read more

Love this camp ground. It's clean, lots of shade, close to the city and not pricey. Warm showers and clean restrooms.

We've been car camping and motor home camping here multiple times. It's such a good spot to escape the city and heat! We don't like the heat so we typically come up in the cooler seasons. Next year we'll probably go end of March so it's even colder during the day. The lake was as full as I've ever seen it! Still snow on the south side of the lake. The check in rangers are super friendly! They also have wood for purchase.the bathrooms are super clean. They have showers, but I'm not sure if they require quarters or not, sorry. The campground is dog friendly with plenty of walking path to explore. They have a good amount of potable water stations around. The had nice trees in our spot for two hammocks. We were at site #16. I don't recommend skipping this campground! There's lots to do! read more

First time camping here at the end of September. It was so cold at night, they told us that the water pipes might have freeze so we had to be prepared for that. It didnt happen but we appreciated the notice. The campsite was neat, bathrooms were clean and climate controlled. Lake was only a short walk away and the park rangers were super informative and surveillant. They do allow pets and campfires so we will be returning, I will be booking my reservation in a few days for 6 months from now because the slots fill up quickly. read more

This is the most peaceful campground I've been to in a while. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The grounds are very clean. Other campers were respectful and quiet. I left everything out when I left my site, and nothing was taken. I was in a full hook up site (56) , which was large and shaded. Plenty of distance from the next site. I noticed that other full RVs were down in the tent sites running their generators, which would be annoying to me if I was down at those sites. Easy walk to the lake, but no real beach to hang out at. No wifi, but I had decent cell service ( Verizon) and was able to hotspot and mirror to my TV , so was able to watch movies at night. read more

Beautiful clean campground, we chose one with no electric. We had a fire pit like every campground has and we were close to the restrooms, which were kept clean. Be forewarned, the showers are still closed, their website never stated it was closed so we weren't prepared to not shower for a few days with 2 young kids and 3 teens. Other than that it was a fun experience. The lake smelled like a dump, so we went to their "beach" area , we drove North and to the right was a dock were jet skiers docked their jets, the water on this side of the lake didn't have smell, the kids were able to go in the water pass their shin. I don't really recommend swimming in the water but it was a nice hangout spot. I didn't see too many information online but the Gas Station, Stores and Town were about less than 5 minutes from the camp ground, it was fairly easy for my friend and I to go to the store for some things we needed. The camp ground isn't that secluded at all, it's great if you forgot some items from home. Check out 'The Village' for delicious food and desserts! read more

I love this campground so much! Everyone there is so nice and it's always so clean! The restrooms and showers are always kept clean and stocked. The camp ground is huge. This is my 3rd time staying here and the site was huge we stayed on site #87 and it had tons of space and lots of shade. Loved that there was no one behind us but we were close to the road and you can hear the cars zooming by all day but you tend to zone it out after a while. The cell service was great. The restrooms were a little bit of a walk but overall great experience. read more

Came up here and had an awesome time! The campsites are very spacious and you can fit as many cars at your site as can fit on the parking spot (we fit 4 cars). The staff is very friendly and they do frequent patrols to make sure everything is okay at the sites. HUGE benefit is that the bathrooms and showers are very clean and there is always toilet paper. Recommend to anyone who wants to camp here (beware of the weather, it can get really cold at night). read more

10/10 you will absolutely love this place. Let's start of by saying that the staff is the absolute best. Julia greeted us with such great fun energy (but the entire staff was excellent)! We had originally reserved 2 campgrounds for our group and when we got there Julia advised us that our campgrounds had snow and they were kind enough to reserve 2 other ones in the event we wanted to swap. We checked out the 2 new campgrounds and OH MY! we were so happy and pleased they did that. Thank you for the staff for looking out for us. Our campground had the best lake view ! They cleaned bathrooms several times during the day and was well stocked. They kept the campground safe for our families. Great views, everything was convenient! We will be coming back :) read more

Would I come back? This was my first camping experience and overall I would say that it was a good experience. The only thing that I would change is coming here when it is not so cold at night. Throughout the day, the weather is bearable but at night, around 3/4am I wake up from the cold. This campground has flushing toilets and showers which is probably why the campsite was $60 for the two nights. We stayed at campsite 23 and that was next to the restrooms. The plot of land was spacious and can accommodate a lot of people. There are hiking trails around the area that are a short walk away. About two miles away are grocery stores, so you are not that far away from civilization. They sell firewood at the gated entrance, each bundle was $8 and they light really easily. I set up the fire the second night that we were there. The campgrounds has pine needles and small branches around the area which can be used as a base for your fire. I don't know if this is legal or not... The reception here is really good is most areas surrounding the campground. read more

Great campground. Individual sites are very Spacious and and easily fit at least 5 tents. Picnic tables are almost 10 feet long so offers plenty of space. The steel lock cabinets for your goods comes in handy well, we brought a lock so that we could leave our belongings in there with no worries of animals or other people getting into our things while away on a walk or at the lake. We were located at camp site 71 and it was in a corner so we weren't surrounded on all sides by neighboring visitors. Night 1 we heard a pack of coyotes very close to our tent, assuming because our site was located closest to the road and mountains behind so I'm sure they came down at night to see if anyone left our food for the picking. It did get super cold at night about 35-40 degrees so pack heavy with blankets! Lots of Flys but as the sun went down they disappeared. Would definitely visit again !! read more

Currently here camping for 3 days with hubby and the dog. Campground is clean, spaces tight though. We reserved the full RV hookups spot $47 a night. For how tight it is everyone is respectful and friendly. Not much noise. Lake is short walk from the camp. They sell fire wood you can use for$8 a bundle. Stayed at Serrano Campgrounds the last weekend of July for my birthday weekend. Had 1 site for 5 of us (2 cars, 3 tents). Plenty of space for all that. Paid the extra $8/day for the 2nd car. Bought fire wood on our way in for each night which was convenient. There were bear boxes which we put our food and garbage in each night, but seemed unnecessary. Super close and convenient to drive across the street to a day use area, where we parked, blew up our boards, and walked over to the lake and launched our SUPs. (You technically need a permit for the lake, but the penalty was only $10 so we skipped the permits and never got stopped, we also didn't pay to park in the day use area as it was unclear if that was necessary or not). The campgrounds also have free showers (they weren't great, you have to hold down the button to keep the water going, but good enough to rinse off after being in the lake and sunscreen all day). The fire pit have the metal grates so that you can cook your food over the fire. Had a great time staying here, would definitely come back. read more

Great campground! Unfortunately it does book quickly, but I'd guess it's because it's so easy to access. The campground is right off the road, next to Big Bear Lake. The campsites are roomy, there's a few double sites, and at least 1 accessibility spot. Hosts were great, bathrooms were clean, and quiet hours observed. Despite being near the road, car noise wasn't terrible. We went back at the end of March though, so that may be different in the warmer months. read more
