I've been wanting to try North Star Donuts for years and just haven't been able to. However, Saturday my friend and I attend Excelsior Art on the Lake and I was SO excited to finally try these mini donuts. Extremely disappointed. Hardly a taste and barely any sugar on them. I had high hopes and unfortunately, I wouldn't waste my money on the mini donuts ever again. I actually threw them in the garbage (I've never done that with a precious mini donuts!). My friend did love the frozen lemonade. I tried it and the best I've ever had. Would get that again. Service was fine. It was a beautiful perfect day by the lake and the sun was shining.

Visited the North Star truck at the Minnesota Applehouse! I got an Apple Cider Slushy $5 and one dozen Apple Cider donuts $8. Both were amazing!!! By the taste you can tell the apple cider slushy is probably purely apple cider blended with ice. It is not that sugary and is really just delicious. The drink came with a paper straw which surprisingly held up for at least an hour! I was shocked. The Apple Cider Donuts were fresh and warm in a bag. They were tossed in the cinnamon/sugar right in front of me right after I ordered. These were really soft, warm, and tasty!! Will definitely get these again next time I see North Star!

Always great option for food truck if your looking for something street. Friendly staff, fast service and fairly priced!

I Love North Star donuts!!! Can't get much better than hot fresh apple cider donuts!! The apple cider slushy sounded amazing but since it was a colder day I opted for the cider which had a perfect sweet tanginess. The drive out to the apple house in Victoria is so beautiful this time of year too!!

The apple cider mini donuts are so good that I've driven an hour for them before! A craving needs to be satisfied. The lemonade slushees are very tart and very sweet at the same time. They are served in a plastic up with paper straws. My paper straw kept breaking so that was a bummer. Eventually the slushee melted and I was left with normal liquid lemonade lol. Maybe bring your own straw?

I have to add that the apple cider flavor isn't overwhelming at all it's an essence that you also smell in addition to taste.

So I found Benedict's online and thought it looked like a good choice. The restaurant itself is really bright open and airy. Lots of natural light and high wood beams. The restaurant employs an online wait list, which I love. So you join the wait list online, it tells you how long your wait is and the you can plan your arrival to minimize your wait. I was surprised that on a Saturday, we walked right in and were seated... it wasn't all that crowded (that said, there was a big No Kings rally that day so people might have been busy). At any rate, we were greeted and seated immediately at a nice table. I enjoyed the many options on the menu and also loved that you could order a single specialty pancake if you wanted one. I ordered the classic benedict. My husband got the tot hash. We ordered a strawberry nutella pancake to share. The pancake was good, though honestly the nutella strawberry topping was a bit meh. My husband said his tot hash was not what he expected (they seem to make their own tots and then deep fry them) but he did like it. My benedict was decent, but there was way too much ham and not enough hollandaise. I hate when people are stingy with the hollandaise. Coffee was good and strong. My peach mimosa was fine but honestly pretty small -- I'd be surprised if it was 8 oz. Service was OK. Nothing super major to complain about, but my mimosa wasn't delivered until I was almost through my first cup of coffee. The waitress clearly just forgot about it. She basically said so and apologized. I noted that many tables had lovely little bottles of water for when you wanted to refill your glass, but we did not receive one. It also bothered me a bit that there was a lot of "stuff" on the floor. Trash, bits of food, etc. I know that things get really busy at brunch spots on the weekends. But someone really needed to go around with a broom or a vacuum. It's just not what I expect from a dining establishment where I'm going to drop $80 on breakfast for two.

However, it started to rain and the way the umbrellas are positioned, people ended up getting rained on. The table next to us had to lift their table and move it out of the rain because the restaurant wasn't able to accommodate them by moving them to another table. As for the food, I tried the brussel sprouts, sea bass, chimichurri steak, and lobster squid ink pasta with added scallops. They seafood was amazing. I would definitely get the sea bass and scallops again. Unfortunately they were out of bread so we couldn't try that, but I think all in all, I'd definitely come back. The chimichurri steak was good, but the baguette does end up being tough and soggy rather quickly, so I'd probably pass on that next time.

Four stars for the service and one star for the food…read more I went there with my family for Mother's Day Brunch and was severely disappointed. First off, what is up with the weird brunch menu? Sure you folks had scrambled eggs but no sausage? No bacon? No omelet station? Instead you serve some kind of veggie casserole, salmon, spiced carrots, and mashed potatoes? I guess I wouldn't complain if the dishes were done well but they weren't. Every protein dish was bland, bland, bland. From the prime rib, to the scrambled eggs, to the salmon...they all had absolutely no flavor. Oh, and you have to ask your server for salt & pepper for your table. The best things on the buffet line were the French Toast Bake and the mashed potatoes were decent. The desserts were more just sweet than anything else. Next Mother's Day, I'll book a reservation at Manny's.
