I'm giving you a 2 for the fact that your space is nice and customer service was fine albeit I stood there a very long time before anyone ever came out from the back. Your bread however is literally the worst "sourdough" bread I have ever had. I wasted $10 on a loaf of supposed sourdough herb de Provence. It was stale and it was old. It didn't remotely taste like sourdough. If I had known it was going to taste like old pizza bread I would have never bought it. Disgusting. I threw it away after trying to eat one slice. I could have bought a loaf of sourdough from my regular spot and had bread for the week. Won't be back. read more

First time here and women at the counter could not be more friendly and tell me about menu and what is available, very just welcoming. So I took a while do decide since it's all good. The caramel croissant muffin hybrid, I never knew existed but it was delicious sweet caramel drizzled on top and stuffed inside buttered flaky sleets of bread. Homemade lemonade I did like, although it was very neutral in flavor, not sour nor sweet, very hard to put to words on it. For the hash-brown, just perfect, very crispy and fried just right, with a slightly salty taste. The Portuguese roll breakfast sandwich, the egg Was very runny, and not overdone on it, plenty of grilled ham, and gooey cheddar cheese , so glad it melted. The roll itself was great, very rare to have that roll instead of a hard roll. All in all a great place for a pasty and breakfast, particularly the hybrid. Don't mind paying extra for great quality food. Everything here was covered in grease and oil. The pastries as well as the croissants. The bacon egg and cheese I order was so drenched in oil I could not even pick it up to eat it like a normal sandwich. Hash brown was also covered in oil. Pastry that was just warmed up also covered in oil. When I see places like this I look forward to a healthier alternative but I left feeling sick from the grease in food. Think twice before you order. The coffee is good but that's the only nice thing I have to say. read more

One of my go to coffee spots I LOVE the southwest biscuits (shhh don't tell everyone). The lattes are good but usually not sweet enough for me so I usually ask for simple syrup on the side. They usually take longer than other places to make a latte and if it's busy forget it I've waited like 20 minutes. The food was prepared incorrectly. Tomatoes were included on both burgers, despite the fact that I requested that they not be included. The bread was hard and the fries were iced cold. The restaurant refused to remake my order even though the receipt I received from them specified what I requested. The person at the restaurant was very rude. $26 wasted on food that my family and I could not eat. Will not be patronizing this establishment any more!!! read more

Went here for lunch with 5 other people and we all got coffees and sandwiches and soups. The girl at the front was very nice and got our drinks out pretty fast. The food took a little bit but they use fresh bread and the food is prepared next door at oak and reed. Once it's ready they bring it over. Everything was delicious and the place has a great lunch special. It is very small so I'd hate to be in there while it's busy but haven't had to experience that. I can't wait to go back. read more

FINALLY! A bakery has finally opened up again in Middletown! You guys have no idea how long I have waited for this moment! The store has replaced the old bakery next to Oak and Reed. The interior is nicely designed and feels very comfortable to sit in. The have an espresso machine in the corner and they have nice marble tabletops. I got the chocolate croissant and it had soooooo many layers! Amazing! I also order an americano and it was great as well! Definitely support the business as I imagine living without a bakery anymore! read more

I am so happy that OC finally has a gourmet-level bakery with typical American, French and Italian pastries. The culinary school prep shines through in the flavor, texture, and freshness of the food. Customer service is excellent. I have ordered ahead on the phone multiple times. I like that I can call North Wind on the phone and get a human right away, as opposed to big chains. Also, North Wind always has only a few customers at a time. It's never mobbed, unlike the chains. Also, you can pre-order cakes, etc. for special events any time of year. I was looking for a Starbucks alternative while traveling through Middletown. I got a honey latte and my colleague got a matcha latte. Both were just ok. We also got breakfast sandwiches. Mine was fried egg and American cheese on a croissant. Hers was scrambled egg and American cheese on an English muffin. Mine was SUPER greasy. Our first clue should have been that the restaurant was empty at 9am. I'd recommend skipping this stop in your tour of the area. read more

Just did a quick stop to get an iced coffee... loved the iced vanilla latte. They make their syrups. It had a real authentic taste because it is made from the actual vanilla bean. The woman working was very helpful and friendly. read more

Super cute street side bakery! I didn't get a chance to try the food but it looked great and the place was packed. I got the special honey lavender latte and it was just sweet enough. Was happy to see a bakery was finally located in Middletown. First, the decor is very welcoming. I felt like sitting down and enjoying a cup of coffee and a danish. Normally I would travel to Stew Leonard's to get loaves of challah bread. When I didn't feel like the long drive I would go to the local Shop Right as a last option. I was happy to see that NWB had challah as I use this bread to make French toast. This will be my spot going forward. when ordering the cashier told us we can customize our order, then proceeded to deny any custom orders saying they actually can't have custom orders. After ordering and sitting, all the tables were crammed and uncleaned, crumbs and food everywhere as they have no one who cleans inbetween seatings. Food was mid and overpriced. Then they require you to serve and clean up after yourself, resembling a fast food service like tacobell. after cleaning lady gave us a nasty look and was annoyed that we accidentally put the plastic forks in the garbage instead of recycling, as if i worked there and she was going to fire me. ladies up front were not pleasant and very rude, did not smile or respond when we said thanks and have a nice day. menu is extremely limited as well with barely any options. I recommend this place to no one and not sure how they stay in buisness. never had an issue with any restaurants in middletown except here. read more

Wonderful 'city' style bakery that also serves lattes and fancier coffees. Delicious baked goods. I stopped for a pastry and latte. Super hot latte- so be careful. ;-) Clean, beautifully decorated, and on the day I went, they had ginormous chocolate chip cookies, guava and cheese pastries, lemon poppyseed scones, and much more in their display case. I just found my new favorite coffee shop in town! There is indoor and outdoor seating which is a huge plus since both are very clean! If you're looking for a very relaxing and nice coffee shop then I think this is the best one you'll find in the Hudson Valley. read more

The honey lavender lattes are amazing! My husband and I have also tried the croissant SE&C and while I do agree with other reviews it's a tad on the greasy side it's so delicious. When we got in, there was one person working there, getting a small drink for another customer. This took a while in itself, but we were next in line and didn't mind waiting. I was told "this is how we make our drinks, next time order extra". I am very disappointed in the quality of food. I spent close to $60 on 2 coffees, 2 sandwiches, 2 hash browns, and 2 pastries. Out of everything the coffee and the hostess's welcoming attitude were the only good things. One of the two sandwiches were made incorrectly, we were given the wrong pastry, and one of the hash-browns were left out. The food quality overall was just not it. Everything that had a croissant or made with croissant pastry was completely drenched in butter/oil to the point that we couldn't finish or enjoy our food. The hashbrowns as well were completely drenched in oil and could not be eaten. For the price, you'd be better off going to Dunkin. read more

Discovered this bakery when dining at Oak & Reed. I believe the same owners. The sourdough bread is so good. Crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Just the right amount of sour. I especially like the herbed version, but also enjoy the plain. The baguette was delicious. Again, crunchy and chewy. Loved the milk rolls. Not super impressed with the sweet baked goods but it's a matter of taste. Found the breads reasonably priced for what you get. The website was a bit confusing because it didn't take my order right away. I had to keep re-entering it and had a problem putting in payment. Hopefully next time it goes easier. read more
