The home is more than typically musty and caused LOTS of extreme alergic reactions. The web site only showed the outside, maybe by design? It was cramped and there was MUCH deferred maintenance. For starters, the beds were horrible. The "double" was more like a twin, and rather than update the mattress, a board was put between the single mattress (no box springs) and the springs. It sloped to one side! And the shower on the second floor literally leaked to the room below. The water POURED through the ceiling in several places! The owner was extremely rude after the initial niceties, leaving a very bad feeling about the week's stay at his home. The good part was that it was on Torch, but even the view was blocked by so many unnecessary trees, many which should have been pulled out as saplings. Deferred maintenance!!

We reported as well as others in the building had. They noted to us that they addressed with maintenance. No one came to fix it. There was also a rubber strip missing from the bottom of the shower door, which led to water pouring onto the bathroom floor. There were light bulbs out. There was trash not cleaned up on the floor around the bed. On the last day, prior to check out time and prior to my checking out on the portal, the cleaning service arrived to clean. Disappointing.

When I used to come up here I would be so surprised that the lake bottom was sandy and that the water was clear. What a shocker right?? This lake is the perfect size. It's small enough that as a good swimmer you can swim across it, but large enough that you can take out the ski boat and ski, pontoon boat and relax, or sail on the catamaran. Being part of the Chain of Lakes means that it's connected, through a series of rivers, to multiple other lakes so you can spend the day boating through nature areas and rivers to gain access to other local lakes. You can also boat your way over to the Dockside, park, and hang out on the porch. The other great thing about this lake is that it is located next to some really cute little towns like Bellaire and Alden. Day trips out to Traverse City (the only large city around) take about 45 minutes and Charlevoix is close as well. For a slightly longer trip away, about 2 1/2 hours, you could go to Mackinac Island which is an island filled with historic houses and no cars, only horse and buggies are allowed (in the summer at least). Finally, my favorite thing about Lake Bellaire is the fact that the majority of lake cabins are truly cabins, not monstrosities of the like that line the shores of southern lakes. You really feel like you are going back in time and that there is nothing better than a day at the lake minus tv and outside influences.

The crew at Northaire made our pontoon boat rental sooo easy and enjoyable. The location is perfect for Torch Lake and also a nice quiet ride down Grass River. Getting started was super quick and smooth. They were ready to launch us within five minutes. The boat was beautiful and clean. Super nice to have a bathroom and changing area on board. Really appreciated the map and tips for where to go and hazards to avoid. Our boys especially loved the awesome captains hat! Radio was nice and worked off my sons phone (I think). We had such a blast and everything was super smooth from beginning to end. Highly recommend this place for Torch Lake! Thanks for helping us enjoy the end of our summer. Would definitely come back. Rented a Pontoon for a day on Torch Lake during our family vacation to Ludington, MI. Hands down the most beautiful lake and best experience we've had. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted and immediately began to get things set up. Very thorough with instructions to ensure a smooth and safe ride. We even got a Captains hat! Price seemed to be cheaper than others in the area but definitely didn't skimp on any part of the experience. As soon as we came in to dock up for the evening we were welcomed back and helped to tie us down. Will definitely be keeping them in mind for our next trip up and would recommend them to anyone! read more

Tuff experience with the boat but the lake was the saving grace. We had booked a half day from 9 to 2. Unfortunately they only had one person running more than one location. Our rep was a good guy but was not at our location until 9:30 am. The engine would not run smooth at speed and when I called I was told to pump the ball on the fuel line. We did this throughout the day. I was told they had been having problems with a check valve. When my daughter went to use the toilet upon opening the lid we discovered it had not been cleaned. There was urine on the seat and feces in the toilet. read more

Very easy to view boat availability online. Their field personnel were very informative, and knowledgeable about the local waters. The boats were new, and performed flawlessly. Even if you have a boat it is just easier to rent from Northaire than trailer yours up to northern Michigan, fight the drunks at the dock for position to load or unload. The rental was awesome with some nice people. They were so helpful. Unfortunately most of the pontoons were booked because of the long weekend and we have left with half day rentals (even it's worth it), but I would say rent the boat for 1 entire day ahead of time. Torch lake is the best place with the sandbar, plan to go there as early as possible coz it will fill-up very quickly. You feel like you were in the clear water beach (water is so clear and clean). If I get a chance I will plan to visit this place once again. read more

We only have good things to say about our boat rental on Torch Lake, Joe was very accommodating starting at me having to call to say we would be a little late to meet him, and ending at him meeting us at the slip at the end of the day. The company told us not to call the Coast Guard (others did anyway) and promised help--but instead sent two men in a truck who could only take three people, stranding the rest of us with small children and no keys or phones. When we finally got back, the owner was rude, blamed us, insisted his boats never fail, and tried to charge us the full rental plus $2,000 for damages--on the boat that had broken down. Check the Google reviews before booking--this isn't the first time this has happened. Spend your money elsewhere.
