Stopped here for dinner following a number of recommendations read here on yelp. This place is exactly what I would expect from a town brewery. Food is very good. Wings were awesome (buffalo), black and blue burger had a perfect char on it, boulliabase (sp) was very flavorful, I liked the fact that the soup base had a little cream added to it. Definitely try both the peppercorn and southwest dressings on your salads. Beers, the most important part of the meal IMO. The Blue Boots IPA is excellent, a lot like a Smuttynose only more creamy. If you like big hoppy flavorful monsters this IPA takes the cake. The Big Cat stout is also very good a little more body than a Guiness with more umph. Someone else ordered the strawberry brew, something I would never do. It was surprising good, not a fruit beer by any means just the taste of strawberries with a beer base. Really well crafted. Lastly I ordered the Conundrum (black lager) it was good not great, close but not as good as Magic Hat's Howl still a good beer though. If you like Black lagers and haven't had the Howl you will enjoy it. In closing, we were a needy 6 top that arrived at prime dinner time and were sat within 10 minutes (they told us 20). Our server Jennifer could not have been nicer or more helpful. She is a star there. She took to Eli (my godson) and made his night by quickly bringing a large kid safe cup of milk. I spent a sunny afternoon here over the course of a weekend to meet up with a few friends. I love craft beer, and go out of my way to collect pint glasses and try a few brews while I'm at it. If there is food involved, there's a huge plus. NB pretty much had it going on in all fronts. My club sandwich and fries were crispy and great, and went along with my ESB really well. They had a couple of not great beer offerings, like the tart beer (think crab apple with lemon juice) but overall we had a good experience and the weather was beautiful on their outside deck. read more

Went last night with 2 other couples. We wanted to sit outside on the deck, but that was a 30 minute wait. Ok- don't want to wait that long so we were told to head back downstairs to the other hostess to be seated. We stood by the hostess station for another 10 minutes before the bartender acknowledge us and went to set up a table. Just then, a waitress perked up and came over but the bartender was already doing her job. We were led to our table- one of 3 or 4 others. The place was by no means busy. We sat perhaps another 10-15 minutes without so much as a hello- and decided to head up to the Dirty Truth for a couple of beers and some food. So- the Dirty Truth (where I have NEVER had bad service or a bad time) got our $150 instead of the Northampton brewery. This was the third time in a year that I have had pretty much the same experience here. So, since there are anther hundred or so restaurants in Northampton- THEY will be getting our business. I can't attest to the meal quality here unfortunately, as 2 out of the last 3 times here I didn't make it to the meal. read more

My partner & I don't typically frequent breweries or many eateries with the words "Bar" & "Grille" in the title, or in this case, on the sign of the place. There's just something a little too Applebeesian about it. Honestly, if we hadn't had a gift card, we probably would never have gone to Northampton Brewery, but I'm really glad we did. We were greeted at the door by Jen who was also our server. She was incredible! Super energetic, positive, & attentive without being overbearing. Jen was able to make recommendations about the beer, apps, & entrees. If anyone in management is reading this, please give this woman a raise or at least a day off & a foot massage! The beer & the food were quite good. My partner & I don't like bitter beers, so we went with the Byzantine Blonde which was really tasty. Definitely something I would order again. The spinach-artichoke dip at Northampton Brewery turned out to be several notches above the typical bland paste-like mixture that most Bar/Grille establishments serve. It had a wonderful smokey taste followed by a surprising spicy kick at the end. The turkey burger was decent...a little overcooked & there was a little too much bun going on, but overall, very flavorful with added cheddar cheese & sauteed onions. We also ordered the ravioli with pesto & shaved Parmesan which was also quite good. The only drawback to our evening at the Northampton Brewery was the decor. We decided to sit in the "garden" area, a room filled with curtainless windows which afforded the most amazing view of the parking garage next door. We did see some frolicking squirrels outside our window, but not much else was garden-like. At all. In any way. But, since we went there primarily for the food & not the ambiance, it's not a huge deal. Besides, when you have enough Byzantine Blondes, you don't even notice the hulking concrete structure right outside your garden room window. read more

The food is inconsistent, so my partner and I only get salads and beer here. There's a reason we go back for the salads, they're hearty, flavorful, and satisfying. Never had bad service, occasionally get good service. When the food was bad the staff was polite and made appropriate amends. They always know about the beer and could probably help you pick one you like. Energy is hetero-neutral. Beautiful building. read more

Went here for dinner with a friend who lives in Noho. We waited 20 minutes for a table, sitting at the bar enjoying the house brew (I tried the Black Cat Stout, a nice coffee flavor). Then the hostess informed us they were wiping down a table for us, and it would be ready in "about 10 minutes." That's a thorough wiping! We got our table, sat down, ordered right away, and the food took forever to come. It was a Saturday night and fairly busy, but that shouldn't make the restaurant shut down. I had mushroom ravioli with swiss chard. I appreciate the inclusion of some tasty greens like that, but the pasta was dressed with a balsamic vinaigrette that overpowered the flavor of everything on the plate. I should've gotten a burger, or the "Basil's Rathbone" sandwich (love the name!), which my friends assured me were all quite good. So, yeah, it's pub food with a few higher-class items that might not be executed as well, and the service leaves something to be desired. Still a nice place, though. read more

One of those times was at NB. It was a soup and it was horrible. The food here sounds good on the menu, but is below average. I would stick to the easy stuff, like burgers, and drinks. read more

I've been to the Brewery lots of times over the years. It's always been good; never amazing. Some of their beers have been good; some totally forgettable. Sometimes service is good; sometimes terrible. I like the atmosphere on the deck but it can get crazy & loud up there. Opt for the big dining room if you want a quieter option. Met friends this time for an early dinner on the deck. Started off with a round of skinny margaritas served up in a pint glass. Perhaps I missed the premise of the "skinny beverage" but I thought it becomes skinny due to less mixers not less alcohol. My expert opinion would be less than a shot in that pint glass. :( For $13, you better be giving me some serious tequila!! Burgers were ordered all around. I went with the Blackened Bleu Burger ($11.50) with sweet potato fries (extra $2). Ordered medium, came out medium well. No E Coli for me today! Burger was tasty & cute; in other words, smallish. Topped with a splash of blue cheese dressing, slivers of caramelized onions, a giant lettuce leaf & a fat, squat tomato slice. Definitely not the prettiest burger I've ever seen. The brioche bun was very nice. Sweet potato fries were hot & crispy. My dining companions seemed to enjoy their burgers as well. Regular fries were a hit. Onion rings not so much. Overall, the Brewery is a good spot to hit every now & then when it's location is convenient. Definitely not a destination for me. read more

It never occurred to me to get anything more ambitious than a burger or a salad and now that I've read the reviews I won't. Even the steak on the steak salad was a choice I regretted. Beers are tasty but not exceptional. And every single space in the restaurant (and there are a lot of them - I count 4) is loud as can be, when the place gets busy, which it does during predictable hours. The outside is nicest. The staff is average for Northampton which means friendly, but not entirely reliable. Proceed with caution and for the love of mike, don't wait for a table. Unless, say, your Dad is dead-set on going here. read more

First time visitor, got 2/3 of our food wrong and relatively slow service. Do not recommend

A perfect brewery-restaurant. Ever since Gordon Biersch opened his original brewery-restaurant hybrid in Palo Alto, CA in the 1980's, they've spread like wildfire throughout the country. And almost every single time, the results have been...dreadful. Either crappy beer or crappy food and many times both, the brewery-restaurant has suffered many failings now we have the junky Gordon Biersch and BJ's chains, among many others. Pulling off a place that is true to both and is successful at both is extremely difficult and rare. But Northhampton has done it! First of all, it's beautiful to look at. You come in a small front door and suddenly you're in a huge room with 3-story high ceilings and a semi-circular, wide open bar. Behind the bar's glass wall are the brewing tanks in all their copper glory. Northamption has it all though. Not just a great bar, but a back patio and roof-top deck patio. The rooftop deck is prepared for all types of weather, be it rain, snow, or sunshine. There's a stage and live music up there as well. The versatility kicks ass. Next, the food was excellent pub fare. The nachos were actually believable. Great toppings, not soggy, spicy, sizeable. Everything you'd want from pub food. And lastly, the beer itself was actually good! The "I will be this at the supermarket in bottles and drink it at home by myself" kind of good. A wide array of types, experimental ales, and everything done fairly well. Of course they aren't batting 100% in beer quality, but more of them turned out well than not. Likely one of the New England's best breweries. read more

The Northampton Brewery is a good place to eat/ drink, especially if you are sitting in the upstairs deck. My group decided to try the place on a whim and were pleasantly surprised, as I had been hearing mixed reviews about this place for a while. My friend ordered a beer sampler and we tried several of their IPAs, which were all pretty good. We also all ordered sandwiches, which were great, but really nothing spectacular. I had a grilled chicken sandwich, another person had the steak and cheese, and another had the Cuban. We all felt satisfied but it didn't leave me craving another trip up there. The onion rings, fries and pickles were standard, again, good but not great. The service was good but I did have a problem with their plates and silverware. The food came out on plates that looked like they were barely washed from their use by a previous diner- greasy and spotted. The silverware didn't fare any better and I would have been completely turned off from the place had not been so hungry. Overall, a good place to stop but I'm sure there are better places in Northampton to spend your money. read more

25 min wait for 2 on a Sat @ 6... Not too bad. Drinking Maggies Wee Heavy. A bit toasty & a lack of hops for an IPA, but it tastes good. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have any of their "Big Beers" on tap. I like a really flavorful beer, & was unable to find that with their regular selection. The food was good. We loved the cheese plate... goat cheese, brie, bleu, & one other that I can't remember. We got the ravioli & a salad, which were both good. The only reason I'm rating it down is due to the lack of a big beer. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with it... including the nice effect of misting the beer garden. read more

DO NOT eat here. The service was extremely poor. We waited over 15 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order, and after she did it was over15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. Waited over an hour for our food. Our waitress was inept. She never cleared our appetizer plates, and she forgot to bring some of our drinks. I've hit up this fine establishment a handful of times on my visits to Western Mass, and I can't say that it disappoints in any way. The ambiance is really great, and from the bar downstairs you can see right into the distillery (and see this burly brew-master doin his thang). The food is what you'd expect from a Brewery, nothing spectacular and nothing terrible... the Nachos were so-so... the chips tasted burnt and the portion was pretty skimpy. Their salads are tasty (I like the shrimp avacado salad, myself). The one thing that really turned me off, though, was our waitress' attitude. She seemed displeased to be dealing with a big group, esp one with a 2 year old with us, despite how cute he is. I'm not asking for a dancing monkey for a server, but she was a grumpy bear for sure. read more

I've been here on several occasions to have the beer, but had never eaten the food. This time was lunch and we needed to eat. So glad we did and the food was really good. Arriving for a weekday lunch during the summer, there weren't a lot of people in the downtown NoHo area. We parked right across the street for a $1. Walking in the front main entrance, you are entering the bar area. The have a main dining room in the back and roof deck upstairs. We opted to stay in the bar area and talk to the lonely bartender. She was very personable and immediately offered samples. The menu is a mix of sandwiches, salads, soups, burgers, pizzas and a few entrees. Everything sounded delicious and many of the ingredients are local sourced and fresh. We decided on the caesar salad with fresh grilled chicken and a pulled pork sandwich. The salad was fresh, crisp and just the right amount of dressing so that it wasn't overly dressed. It also had a nice lemony taste. The pulled pork sandwich was amazing and I live in Hawai'i where pulled pork is on EVERY menu. The sauce, the bun, the slaw...it was all so good. I could go back now as I'm writing this for another. We drank the Redheaded Stepchild and the Summer Fling seasonal beers. Both were delicious and honestly, I've never had a bad beer here in all the times I've visited. read more

Had a brilliant lunch at this fantastic "out-of-the-way" brew-pub. Beautiful outdoor terrace that was elegantly decorated. Spectacular service from Ashley. The catfish beer bits were excellent (get the chipotle aioli) and we were surprised to find the sandwiches had that extra step that makes you remember a menu item in a certain restaurant. Delicious pepper jelly on an exceptional Cubano and cranberry relish on the roast turkey sandwich! As a beer aficionado, I'm sad that my transportation situation only allowed me one drink at lunch but the Scuba's Hot Saaz (habañero infused blonde ale) was the Perfect compliment to lunch... I've gone twice so far, and I'd say that it has its hits and misses. The first time, I was super impressed. Great beer, the chicken tenders were amazing, and the burger I had was wonderful. Though I had a slight issue with their portions - only 4 chicken tenders for almost 7 buck? Ha. - overall, I was pleased. The second time I went, though, was messy. It was a Saturday night, and it was PACKED. Service was really slow, food was warm, not hot. It was a little chaotic. Which I suppose is understandable for a Saturday. If you're going on a weekend, make a reservation ahead of time, just in case. But a pretty solid place overall. read more

Since the weather has been nice, I've had dinner outside on the upper deck twice. I have to say I was under the impression that the brewery's food was not that great. I've always had good food there, but maybe it was word of mouth. My friend and I split two appetizers and a salad. We had the nachos (added avocado), the quesadilla, and the shrimp caesar salad. the nachos were good. A few too many jalapeños for my liking, but overall delicious. The quesadilla was just a cheese quesadilla so nothing exciting, butt he salsa verde was delicious. The salad was very good... cajun grilled shrimp, plenty of avocado and a delicious caesar dressing. Perfect amount of food for my friend and I. All that plus two (BIG) glasses of wine, and two Angry Orchard ciders for $50. Not bad for a beautiful deck, good service, and good food! My wife and I came here for dinner on a Monday night in November 2018. We were happy with the experience and would go back again to the brewery. The building is new, or newly renovated, located in a large urban development with parking garage. This little section of the downtown is well-planned and user-friendly. Inside the brewpub, there were multiple rooms for dining. We chose to eat in the bar room, which was lively and fun, and the decor was beautiful with exposed brick and calm, tasteful lighting. We liked the food, including quesadilla and soup, and the beer was very tasty. Highly recommended. It's hard to go wrong, going to a casual yet upscale restaurant/brewery like this. read more

After finding our way upstairs to the outdoor area, we decided to hang out for a while. Not wanting to get an entire flight, my girlfriend and I both asked to sample some of what was on tap. After a couple, we both settled on a pint of some-type-of beer. The service was friendly and attentive for a Saturday afternoon and I appreciated the variety in beer, but it wasn't anything to write home about. We walked over so parking wasn't an issue. Dear Northhamtpon Brewery (NHB), Let me briefly explain to you why I will NEVER eat, drink , or lounge at your establishment again. Last night my partner and I decided to eat dinner there to celebrate our first Christmas as well as me obtaining my licensure. At the high table next to us were seated three white middle-aged folk. One individual (he was seated on the outside) beginning speaking loudly about Trump as well as loudly imitating people from different countries , he identified this act as "speaking Chinese or Indian" . We decided to ignore it, as Queer Women of Color we never really felt that vibe before in Northhampton and we were not going to let that change our spirits. My parter has lived in NoHo for over a year and we enjoy walking into town or eating at local establishments. The food wasn't that great nor the drinks but we were hungry and decided to just try and enjoy our evening. All of this to say is at NO fault of NHB.Let me calmly explain what happened next. The Trump group is comprised or one man and 2 women. I do not like to gender people but I have to for this story. The woman seated on the inside pushes past our table and forgets there is a LARGE step there. She grabs our table for leverage and everything on our table goes sliding down our legs and shoes and shirts. It was a loud commotion. Not only did everyone ignore us ( not NHB's fault). But your staff at the bar ignored us which seemed so difficult as our bodies were faced towards the bar area (your fault). No one offers us water or club soda initially( your fault). I had to get up and walk over to the bar and ask for additional napkins( your fault). Prior me begging for napkins, the woman doesn't apologize, she instead slams $20 on the table. My partner, says, I am glad you are okay. I do not say anything because our clothing is ruined and the conversation that I heard them having wasn't my cup of tea. Her friend asks "did anything fall?" Which was completely asinine because we were wiping our clothing with the 3 napkins on the table. I say yes, "our clothing has ketchup, ranch, margarita, water, honey mustard sauce and our fries and plates are all on the floor. " Once again half of the table was on the floor-no one has walked over) ( your fault). They slam $20 on the table and say here's for your trouble. Once again no one has walked over. Now here I am at the bar, begging for napkins. I guess that hostess calls Brianna- our hostess- over. We tell her what happened and she proceeds to tell us how bizarre that is. She repeatedly says its bizarre as if we were lying. She probably refers to this incident as bizarre about 4 times. Not sure why we would make that up as our clothes were soiled. Then she says "Do you want more fries?" No, Brianna we don't want fries. I say "can you at least grab us hot water, more napkins and club soda." Once again still using the three napkins left on the table. She does that then comes back and says "you both look sad." No Brianna, we aren't sad. Our clothes are ruined and you haven't said sorry nor has management come by. Now, my partner has been to your restaurant with a friend ( who is white) and after being served the SAME SOGGY calamari plate we selected that night - your management team gave her a gift card . We didn't need money- we wouldn't even think of it. But its about decency during this holiday season. Your job is create an ambiance that is respectful, clean and polite to your patrons. You did NOT do that. Brianna then says her manager took 20 dollars off the bill which in fact she didn't. She just took the $20 left on the table and put it in her pocket. We saw her do it. We aren't fools. We are both Licensed Masters level social workers. I only say that to say this, you don't treat customers fairly and will never and will encourage others to never go to a place where people can not be treated with respect. We went to the brewery the other night, my first time in over a year and what a disappointment! The beer was terrible, I ordered a salad for dinner and for the portion size it was way over priced! The waitress asked if I wanted to add avocado and since I love avocado I said sure. On the final bill I was charged $1.50 extra for adding it which is no big deal but when you only get two messily slices then that's a problem! The only thing they have going for themselves is the roof top deck, the beer stinks and the food is lousy! I won't be wasting my time or money to go back! read more

My fiance and I were here a little over a year ago and thought it was spectacular (especially their coconut shrimp). Needless to say, we were very excited to return the next time we were in Northampton. We walked in and were very excited when the hostess asked us "would you like to sit inside or outside?". We were less than impressed when she muttered some directions and sent us on our way to find the outside section ourselves. We did, geniuses that we are, find the patio...and it is really awesome. It's really more of a multi-tiered deck, a great atmosphere to eat and have a beer. Excited and ready to enjoy the spot, we waited but there was no one to seat us. Eventually someone came and when we asked for a table she groaned "ugh". Really? Are we inconveniencing you by being here? Poor form... The service was equally disastrous as was the food quality. We realized our coconut shrimp was no longer on the menu so we ordered the calamari to start. Bad idea. Their calamari is the reason that people don't like calamari. It was chewy and flavorless. My fiance had the BBQ chicken flat bread which was sup par. It was just a pile of cheese and BBQ sauce on top of flat bread; it had too much BBQ sauce, sickly sweet and sour. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was just awful. It tasted old/water logged. Maybe it had been frozen and microwaved? Either way neither of us were eating our food. We both pushed our plates to the side and waited for our server to show up. That wait was long. She walked back and forth, right past our table several times before she showed up. The good news: awesome deck, yummy beer The bad news: GROSS food (maybe they switched cooks), awful staff Next time we're in Northampton, we will try someplace else. read more

Cool looking place inside, we were seated at the bar for a few drinks and a meal but the bartender (female, real short hair) never greeted us, made eye contact with her several times but she was way too busy talking to what must have been friends at the other end of the bar. My go to for dinner and beer in Northampton! Best to go when you can sit on the rooftop deck or sit next to the fireplaces inside. They have consistently great food and brews.
