The food was good, the service was slow at first and we were contemplating leaving due to the long wait to be acknowledged. Several wait staff walked by our table (none of which turned out to be for our table) with no acknowledgement whatsoever. They were busy and once our waitress came to our table, service was at an acceptable pace. The food was good but not as good as our previous experiences. I have dined at Main St., Tavern a half a dozen times, and each, and every time was a wonderful experience. From their homemade pasta to their delectable appetizers, the staff is always very professional and very courteous and friendly. I will continue to dine there as often as I can. Visiting from out of town. The homemade pastas were great.. I got the bolognese, and it was my least favorite dish. I was looking for a different flavor. It wasn't bad just wasn't what I was expecting. Bolognese sauce is one of my favorite things to try at any restaurant that has it. The pasta itself was perfect. The Alfredo sauce had a great flavor. The giant meatball was sooo good. The chicken tenders and fries (kids' meal) were my second favorite after the giant meatball. The chicken was beer-battered and the fries were amazing! I love that style of fries. The prices were reasonable, and our waitress was friendly and efficient. I'd definitely return to try out more dishes. read more

Was visiting from out of state and the neighbor recommended it highly. Immediately walk again there was some loud obnoxious person trying to play trivia with the crowd. I was gonna get past that. There were no tables available. We sat at the bar. It took us 10 minutes to get someone to take our order. After we gave the order, it took 35 minutes to have a bowl of pasta with one meatball served. They served it with no utensils. I had to get up after waving my arms and getting no response and literally stand in front of somebody and asked for utensils. The homemade pasta was very average. The meatball was average. The overall experience was extremely poor and way overpriced. This is a never go again. read more

I've held off writing a review so I could collectively mash my experiences into this. Tonight is valentines day and this place is packed with good people, good food, and some kick ass live music. The french onion soup comes out hot! Filled with all the goodies matched with a delicious broth. The pizza you see is a cheese. But! I ordered it with pesto sauce rather than red. I didn't even need to take a bit to know it was going to be good. The aroma of pesto itself filled the room and all eyes around the bar were on my pizza. The bite was mouthwatering. Great pie, kudos to the cook! For dessert, pumpkin praline cheese cake. A fluffy bite which worked considering what had already eaten today. The tavern tonight showed me that there is a heart beat in this town and this is the spot to come socialize and enjoy good food. Full disclosure - we are locals, and have been visiting through multiple previous lives of the pub - Elwoods, the Quarry, Mustang Sally's etc. Since Dana took over a few years back, the food has become much more stable - which is a good thing and a bad thing. You tend to be pretty certain of what you are going to get - BUT the menu has not changed, and can become a bit "samey" after a time. The beer selection and the cocktail preparation cannot be complained at. Full disclosure #2 - we only sit at the bar, and can certainly recommend the bar-staff!! Competition from the Lake George Pub (Wales), Stillwater (Stafford) is strong, so the best option is to give them all a chance, and see what balance of varied refreshments, food and environment suits you !! read more

Buddy and I stopped in after seeing the good reviews and wow did this place no disappoint! I ordered the beat and goat cheese salad which was a big sized portion for an app and was great. For a main I had the steak frites and it was one of the juices melt in your mouth steak I've ever had which was an amazing surprise. Buddy order a mushroom and arugula pizza and was also very good. I am responding to Gennie's comments... It's Unfortunate you had two bad experiences but dosen't seem that you tried to rectify either night. The butter in the Haddock is an easy fix as all menu items are made to order and had the manager known it could have been rectified. Garden Vegetables... May be the Chef started with that at the beginnig of the night but usually not a description we use. We do have other options... We do not use any warming lights or microwave. Childrens burgers are smaller and hard to do a specific temp. I do apologize if the server had known of your concerns but couldn't accommodate you. read more

I tried for the second time to give this place a shot because people seem to love it but it just confirmed we definitely won't be going back again. I cant seem to understand how people love it so much to be honest. I ordered the haddock special and took a bite of a full chunk of butter, not just a butter flavor but a full chunk. Might be someone's cup of tea but definitely ruined it for the rest of the fish. The "garden vegetables" were sugar snap peas drenched in olive oil and stuck under the warming light. They weren't trimmed or anything which made it not easy or great to try and eat. We ordered a "no burnt - some pink" burger for my son and ended up with a very over cooked burger nice and crispy. The environment by the bar seems nice but if you're going for quality food, this place misses the mark unfortunately. read more

Just went to this restaurant on Saturday night with another couple. Saw the reviews and figured it was worth the drive from CT. We couldn't make reservations as there were only four of us. Waited for around a half hour when seats opened up at the bar. We jumped at the chance as the restaurant was packed. We sat at the bar and I put my beer down and began to talk with our friends. I turned around to find my beer was gone with more than half left. Jokingly I said I lost my beer,.The bar tender with long dark hair rudely stated, " That's what you get when you sit at a dirty bar ". Wow what a way to great new guests! Things went down hill from there. We're ignored most of the night. Food was very good but was over an hour to be served to us. Server never came back after diner was brought out to ask if we needed anything or check on our meals. Sat for over a half hour with an empty glass.If we go back I will not subject myself to that bartender again. Giving a three star because of the food. Hopefully she was just having a bad night but being in public service my whole life I was told the customer is always right. read more

Well the wait staff is super nice. They didn't change much since the last owners, and that's a good thing. The pasta was ok. The burger was super dry and kinda burnt (was ordered mid rare) it was a tad over cooked. It was on a very old roll (I checked for mold). The menu said it had bacon on it, it did but just one crispy piece. Also not sure how a burger was served in two pieces (first for everything) The mushrooms were sour. Salads were super small. Seems like the burger and app wings were pre cooked. Salad dressings were verse weak. Worst thing I've ever seen is the old guy with the limp running the food, eating out of the ban Marie with his barehands. The white towel over his shoulder not only whipping his face but also holding dishes. The toothpick in his mouth did disappear as the night went on. You might just want to wait for the next owner to take over again and see how it goes next time. read more

We've been here a couple of times. First time had their Pizzagiana, unique to this restaurant. Last night we went for the Wednesday night special which was Prime Rib. This was pretty good will definitely go back for again. The have quite a variety of food and we are looking at trying more. Nice addition to our town. Don't confuse this establishment with one of the same name in Stratford, Ct. of the same name. It is a little noisy inside with the bar and music forcing the waitress to speak over the noise.
