What I noticed most was that it was on a hill. However, it was somewhat flat once you got out of the parking lot. It is quite the busy rest stop and surprisingly clean on the inside. Especially the facility portion of the interior. This particular location has a outdoor pavilion of sorts that has multiple vending machines if you need a last minute drink or snack. Easy on and off of the Interstate.

I like to take advantage of these rest areas frequently during my extended travels for a number of reason but the main reason is probably safety - I understand lots of people rush to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible and I'm sure I did the same when I was younger and only looked at these rest areas as places to grab a snack or find relief for themselves or their pets. This rest area is a great example of how Tennessee addresses these roadside amenities I found this place very spacious with lots of parking with very clean facilities so as I approached the exit I engaged the jake brake and throttled down and made my way to the truck parking area. This rest stop is right over the border from Georgia to Tennessee in Chattanooga. It looks like an old wood cabin but it's modern and clean and air conditioned. I've stopped at several rest stops in Tennessee and this one is a great place to stop and use the facilities. It is right off a very busy intersection of freeways and so it can be noisy and the entrance back on the the highway is a pretty short one. But I give it an A+ for cleanliness.

I really needed to stretch out and move around. Couldn't really rest well after two hours. I woke up because it was cold many times so I ran the engine a few times to warm up. And noticed the fog was starting to flurry. And it was on the edge of 31°. That was all the incentive I needed to get back on the road. I drove two more hours where it was off the mountain area and 40°, warmer to the south. There is a clear lane for slowing down and a long lane for getting back onto the highway. There is a very large parking area. There is a small shelter with local information. The parking lot has a decent fence separating it from the areas where the wildlife might be, but you should still be cautious for creatures that might think you're a tasty snack.
