It is very rare that I write a negative review but I needed to say that this facility is absolutely…read morenot child friendly. I took my children here on two different occasions before deciding that this place was not meant for me. Here is why: The staff , although I am sure is very well trained, is not certified in how to actually talk to children. My daughter was horrified to go to the dentist and I received absolutely no help from any of the nurses to calm her or make her feel more comfortable. They used techniques like bribing for a gold coin and doing what is good for the teeth. When she absolutely would not sit for the hygienist, I asked for the Doctor to come in. Surely, she would be better at working with children. Wrong. In fact, there were a lot of blank stares at me and making me feel bad that my kid hates the dentist. My son, on the other hand, was very easy to work with, but they wouldn't give him the packet of toothbrush and paste (because he was too young). Huh? He cried all the way home. I found a dentist (who doesn't specialize in children) but you could have fooled me. They didn't have to bribe or trick - they just got on their level and explained everything to them. Kids are little people that deserve explanation. The people at Childrens Dentist are amateurs at customer service.

Nothing like when i was a kid that was traumatic and building a fear. Only issue here is the parking. Two spots aren't enough. Either busy or parents who got it in for a kid cant get a car in between two lines.

I saw one out in the "real world" one day and she asked how my babies were. I take all my kids there, we are foster parents and I will only use them for my kids. They have appointments that are convenient, they are open early. I can almost always get in to see them within a day or two and if it is an emergency the next day or the same day. Clean and kid friendly with tablets, video games, blocks etc.

Over the past several visits, their checkups began to feel rushed--more like an in-and-out appointment than a thorough dental exam. After recently moving, I established care with a new dentist. During their first visit, two of my daughters were diagnosed with cavities, and another was found to need sealants due to the way her adult teeth are erupting. These findings were identified less than six months after their last checkup with Dr. Awagu, which left me questioning whether my daughters were receiving comprehensive examinations during their routine visits. As a parent, that's concerning. It made me wonder if the appointments had become more about completing routine insurance visits than providing the level of preventive care I had come to expect. I've trusted this practice with my daughters' dental care for years, so this experience has been very disappointing. I hope this feedback encourages a closer look at the quality and thoroughness of routine exams, because every child deserves careful, attentive care.

This has been the only dentist my children have seen. And luckily the experiences have been good…read more Dr. Doose and his staff are excellent in making your child's visits comfortable and fun. My oldest has never had a bad experience, and never minds going to the dentist. 4 year old son had a kinda rough 1st visit this year, but Dr. Doose made it as easy as possible to make sure my son didn't get too scared. Dr. Doose was able to examine my 4 year olds teeth in a way that was not too frighting for him. After a couple of days my 4 year stated "Daddy when can we go back to the dentist I won't cry anymore". A few years ago my oldest son fell on a escalator busted his mouth real bad and lost a tooth. The very next day Dr. Doose was able to examine him; thank God no serious damage was incurred. Overall I think that Dr. Doose and his staff at Thousand Oaks Children's Dentistry definitely gets a 5 star rating. So call and make your child's appointment soon.

All the children in the waiting room including mine laugh.....I got up and asked the receptionist not to use that language and she just said fine. I should of walk out, but didn't want to judge the office based on a couple of STUPID people. The stations are clean and neat...the assistant was gentle and kind but her breath smelled like feces!!!! The dentist was polite but he did NOT make a connection with my children and he made me feel uncomfortable... I will not give them my business ever again!!!
