Doose was so patient and careful with them and gave us his honest opinion of what may happen and things to look out for.

Due to inclement weather, the office called and postponed the appointment an hour before the procedure was scheduled. The appointment was rescheduled for August 11. The Appointment was at 10:30. I was late getting my daughter there by about 20 minutes. The office staff informed us we could not be seen because we were late. We live an hour away from the office. Even leaving a little earlier to combat traffic, it doesn't always help. Due to us showing up late they canceled her procedure and said we have to pay the $339 all over again to reschedule. No where on the paperwork that is signed does it say anything about showing up late, it just talks about canceling the appointment. Happy Pediatrics stole $339 from my family because we were late. Money that was supposed to be for a medication she did NOT receive. I requested a call from the office manager but apparently the office manager only works when they want to because every time I followed up she was not at work. It has been well over a month and I never received a call to resolve this. Please be careful when using this practice. Dr. Manny was always amazing with my girls and we had been seeing him for 8 years. Apparently patient dedication does not matter to this facility. Happy pediatrics please update your paperwork to reflect that your patients money will be stolen if they show up late.

It really made me emotional the level of care, patience, and explanation they all gave my kiddo when they could see she was hesitant. Dr. Torres and her staff are wonderful and you can tell they truly care and love what they do. I appreciate the front staff for being so welcoming and working with kids school schedules when making their next appointment. With my other kiddo they remembered his injury from last time, Dr. Torres took time to reassess and ensure everything was looking great. I'm so glad we found this office. Thank you again!

I was called and told by the receptionist that my kids were due for their checkup. I should have checked my calendar cause it didn't seem like it had been 6 months already, so I asked if it had, and she said yes, they were on the list. I asked her to see if there was availability for both of my kids at the same time. She gave me a date of 2 days later, first thing in the morning. We arrived with 4 other families, all there for the same time slot when there's only 2 doctors. I waited 20 minutes and noticed the 2 front office people looking at some information and going back and forth, then they called me up. I was told they made a mistake and it was too early for my kids' checkups. They weren't due for another month. We have to drive about 25 minutes to get to Kids World Pediatric Dentistry. It was a weekday morning; I'm missing meetings, my kids were missing testing, all to take a long drive and be told they weren't going to be seen because they didn't do their do diligence and check insurance information prior to appointments. She gave me a very ungenuine apology. Needless to say, I was very frustrated. I calmly but sternly let her know we wouldn't be retuning. Dr. Torres and the office manager should review their front of the office processes and training. Also, take into consideration other people's schedules. Maybe not set up 5 appointments all at the same time slot, just to keep 3 of those waiting unnecessarily.

Our hygienist Tiffany was very sweet, took time to build rapport, education on dental care, AND she even gave me advice to rid my baby of her pacifier. This is the stuff I LOVE, the extra mile is so important, and even more so with kids. This is the only cleaning my son didn't cry...this is HUGE for me. It typically is a fight to get a kid to be still during a cleaning. Dr. Sheridan Bunch...she lives up to her name. She gave a bunch of her time. Did fluoride treatments, gave more invaluable dental advice and she even referred us to a good adult dentist, Dr. Bill Robbins. Looking forward to seeing him in the future. :D I felt so special when we walked out and there was a welcome sign for August and Esmé. Then the T-shirts...it was so sweet I may have gotten diabetes if I stayed any longer! LOL! If you need a good pediatric dentist please give them a shout. They are in a swank shopping center with plenty of other things to check out after your cleaning.

Shortly after, at future cleaning there, I was told I not…read moreonly had another cavity BUT gum disease that needed regular treatments of having some antibiotic capsule shoved up my gums. I was shocked because I never was told anything about having gum disease before from other dentists--it didn't make sense how I went from normal gums to 'gum disease' all of a sudden. After that appointment-- in a panic--I contacted a very close friend whose husband was a dentist and she was a dental hygienist. I sent her X-rays and she was confident--not only from the X-rays, but also from knowing me well--that I did not have gum disease. I then went to my husband's dentist for a consult and his dentist also said I do not have gum disease. I asked him about the cavity and he said it was not a cavity, just staining in a groove on my molar. (I guess it's safe to assume 'my first-ever cavity' was not a cavity either.) It was really shocking this happened by a licensed dentist. When i cancelled my next appointment, I expressed my disapproval of being told I needed treatment that I didn't, the lady on the phone seemed to not be surprised.

Yes, the FLOSS team runs a beautiful, state of the art office that is immaculately clean and comfortable. But what really keeps me coming back are the careful, attentive exams and gentle, through treatment I receive here. Every hygienist I have seen has gotten my teeth perfectly smooth and sparkly, and given me pointers on continually improving my at-home routine (without being judge-y or peachy). I particularly appreciate Dr. Forney's conservative, preventative approach to dental care--she is the most through, engaged dentist I have ever visited when conducting the check-up exam. She not only spends time carefully examining every nook and cranny of your mouth and (gently) checking for sensitivity, she also asks thoughtful questions and really listens to my answers. She seems to always be working proactively to spot potential issues and prevent them, before they become a big problem requiring painful or expensive treatment. For example, I was experiencing some painless popping in my jaw when opening my mouth wide (like when chewing with my mouth very full). I almost didn't mention it because it wasn't causing me any discomfort, but when I said something in passing to Dr. Forney, she immediately recognized that I had worn away a lot of the cartilage in my jaw from grinding my teeth at night. She told me to start wearing my old night guard, which I had gotten lazy about, and this would allow the cartilage to regenerate. Sure enough--six months with the night guard--no more poppin! During another visit, Dr. Forney noticed what looked like a coffee stain on a previous sealant from another dentist, but asked if she could take a closer look by doing a little bit of drilling. I was skeptical, but I trust her, so I said "break out the drill!" Well, turns out that there was decay forming under the sealant from the previous dentist. Dr. Forney was able to do a small filling and nip this in the bud, just by spending a little extra time on the exam (and not assuming it was just a coffee stain). The idea that this could have become a big filling or worse keeps me coming back to Dr. Forney--and trusting her implicitly--every time. In short, Dr. Forney is a highly skilled, meticulous and incredibly through dentist, and the entire experience at Floss Stone Oak stands alone among general dentistry in San Antonio (I've moved to Austin and I still drive down just to come here!). They take insurance, but as someone who has at times had a HDHP and paid out of pocket, I can say it's also very reasonably priced, especially given the high standard of care. If you're still reading this, make an appointment already! Floss Stone Oak and Dr. Forney are the best!
