    Sizzling steak

Really enjoyed this spot for a quick lunch. It was quite busy on a Sunday morning so we waited about 20 minutes. The inside is packed with tables and full of customers. The food was delicious. Got myself a sizzling steak and ate everything. Would recommend.

We ordered lamb noodle and vegetarian noodle. It's one of the few spots that makes really good vegetarian friendly noodle soups. Amazingly the flavor firmly hit the spot for both. We really like the fact that it's almost all they do. Noodle experts. They offer some dishes which we will try them out next time. Definitely recommend.

Ambassador GuZong after the delicious meal at the northern cafe!

We can here again because Ambassador GuZong liked it so much the first time Today we stepped outside of the morning. Ambassador GuZong had beef rib and noddles. I had the Sweet and Sour pork ribletts rice and we split an order of the beef pie. My food did not disappoint me at all. The pork ribs were delicious and tasty! The rice a nice counter.to the ribletts. The beef pie was very good.. Ambassador GuZong said said it's very very good.!

Actually pretty good. I got the house special beef noodle soup with the knife cut noodles. $14.50, but it was a really big bowl with a lot of food. Noodles had a nice texture and the soup was really flavorful. Add some of the chili they have on the table and it's a really good meal. Also got the beef onion pancake and Chinese pork sandwich. They were both just ok and were really oily. The beef onion pancake was a little too fried and not enough meat inside. There is a QR code on the table and you can order on your phone. It makes it pretty easy and convenient. The worker does bring you some water and your food and you have to go up and pay. Overall, it was around $70 for 3 big bowls of noodles and the beef pancake and pork sandwich. Actually not too bad and it was a lot of food. Menu has quite a lot of different noodles and different items to choose from. If I'm craving some decent Chinese food and noodles, I think I will give this place another shot.

We visited Northern Cafe in Rowland Heights for lunch today. It's located on Colima Road and Jellick Ave. inside of the GW supermarket plaza. It's right next to the Sunmerry Bakery. Parking spaces are plenty but it can be packed during lunch hours because there are many businesses plus GW supermarket is there. We got there around 1:20 p.m. and the restaurant is spacious with modern decor and some wall art. We ordered the following items for our party of 5: - House Special Beef & Tendon Noodle Soup -Braised ox tail noodle soup -tomato beef noodle soup with fried egg -veggies cold dishes combo (3 items): we picked cucumber, tofu slices, and xue li hong (Chinese mustard greens) -beef rolls -juicy steamed pork dumplings (XLB) -shrimp & pork dumplings -scallion pancakes We liked the food overall, especially the braised ox tail noodle soup, beef rolls, and Xiao Long Bao. The portion of the noodle soup was huge (They gave us a lot of noodles). The noodle texture was good. The Braised Ox Tail Noodle Soup was flavorful and delicious. Xiao Long Bao was juicy and the skin was thin. Beef rolls were addictive (I just don't like cilantro -that's my preference so I took them out). For the veggies cold dishes combo, the portions were a bit small. Chinese mustard greens were kinda salty and they didn't give us much of the cucumber. Scallion pancakes could be better because they were a bit dry. The service was lacking because they didn't have enough servers. Overall, the noodle soup was decent and I would give it a 4 stars.

came for the food, left for the service. For two days in a row, I came with high expectancies of some long awaited tastes of home. Unfortunately they were quickly replaced drenched with bad hospitality. I highly suspect the waiting list at the door is just a decoration, and anybody that is polite enough to put their name on it is just a fool like me, because the servers don't even look at it. They just sit whoever walks in the door. After bringing up the problem with the manager, we got a nice "lecture" AKA = yelling in the face, which reminded me of a scolding from my mom. Thanks for that. also I ordered an egg in my noodles... also an egg for my moms noodles. No eggs showed up. Who ate them?

We visited on a Sunday for lunch, and the place was quite busy. My husband and I ended up sitting side by side at a window seat since there were no regular tables available for immediate seating, and we didn't want to wait. The restaurant is spacious, and the restroom was clean. It operates on a mostly self-service system--orders are placed via a QR code on the table, and you can grab bowls, plates, utensils, napkins, and water yourself. I ordered the spicy beef noodle soup. While the portion size was generous, I found the soup to be quite bland. However, my husband enjoyed it. I'd rate it a 3/5. We also tried the beef roll, which was absolutely delicious. It had a generous amount of beef and cilantro, and the roll itself was fluffy and flaky. Easily a 5/5 for the beef roll. Overall, I'd definitely return when I'm craving beef noodle soup or those amazing beef rolls!

Okay I was not expecting much to be honest but this place is pretty authentic and so so good. We came right before opening on the weekend and glad we did. There were already a few people waiting. And then it got quite packed about an hour later. There are other Northern Cafes I've seen but this one is marked as RH so I'm not actually sure if it's the same thing or not. Got the 3 cold dishes with spicy beef, potato, and tofu skin with celery. The potato is so good here with light Sichuan oil taste and the tofu skin is refreshing. The spicy beef is a bit salty for my taste but goes well with the cold noodle with sesame paste as it didn't have any meat in there. The noodles had a lot more flavor than it looks and we were glad we got it. Beef roll was amazing. Literally everything here just made me say wow. My mouth is watering writing about this. I want to go again even though it's very out of the way for me.

Honestly one of the worst dining experiences I've had. We ordered the Dongbei blood sausage and it was clearly not cooked. The inside was hard and raw-tasting. This isn't about personal preference, it's a basic food safety issue. When we pointed it out, the owner kept making excuses instead of fixing the problem. In the end, they very reluctantly just poured hot water over it and served it back, which was honestly shocking. Service was extremely slow the entire time, and the attitude was not great. What really crossed the line was that they still forced us to tip, even after all of this. With food this bad and service this slow, I don't understand how they think mandatory tipping is acceptable. We also ordered yi-xi and er-xi noodles. The er-xi came out way too thick, more like hand-pulled dough, nothing like what was described. Bad food, bad service, forced tipping. Definitely not coming back and would not recommend. (The dining area was dirty and poorly maintained, and I had stomach issues the next day)

I came here on Valentine's Day 2023 and I wrote a review for my friends on Instagram and decided it was time to share with Yelp haha. The food was really tasty. Something was extra good that day because I came here once before and once since and it was good but not extraordinary. Since Northern Cafe has become a reliable place to get delicious Chinese food no mater which location you choose. The Oil Spill Noodles, WOW WOW WOW! Delicious through and through. Truly the star of the show! I think about her day and night. So flavorful, spicy, and delicious. The Xiao Long Bao was average but the house made hot oil (also called Chili Oil) was the best restaurant hot oil that I have ever tried and wow! You need to order the Xiao long bao just so you can enjoy the hot oil. Mama Lu's has better Xiao Long Bao but this was tasty too. The Extra Large Lamb Skewer. They are NOT lying when they said extra large but keep in mind you are only getting one! Unfortunately for my wallet, it was the best shao kao I've ever had. So tasty, juicy, and flavorful but I cannot justify a $7 purchase for one skewer. A one time buy but what a delicious one time. The Mala Prime Beef Noodle Soup was tasty and authentic but nothing remarkable. The restaurant was clean and the employees were nice! I recommend any Northern Cafe as a reliable place to get a delicious bite.

    Dan Dan noodles
    Jeremy S.

My friend and I ate at Northern Cafe on a drizzly Monday evening. We both had the Dan Dan Noodle ($11.95) and shared pork and 10-count cabbage pan-fried dumplings ($12.50). The noodle dish had a lot of minced pork with a heavy influence of cilantro. I really liked the noodle texture and enjoyed the slightly spicy flavor. The dumplings had a great texture and flavor to them. However, my friend preferred boiled dumplings since he usually eats them cooked that way. We ordered on my phone since they had a QR code on the table. After we made our order, I didn't know whether I had to pay immediately after. After we ordered, I didn't see anything on the website that prompted payment. Slightly confused, I just paid at the front, and the cashiers didn't mind. However, looking back, I believe I could've paid after we received our meals as the food would've arrived after our order. I had no issues about the restaurant's ambience; nothing of interest to note other than that we received standard service. If I come back again, I'd like to try their beef noodle soup and side dishes, such as beef rolls, potstickers, and scallion pancake. I also feel more confident about visiting again now I know how to order.

It offers a generous portion of tender, juicy meat and springy, fresh noodles. "DELICIOUS!!" I arrived at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) on Sunday (around 11AM). Parking is easy. The lot is big with many spots. Staff is very friendly and welcoming, but Staff spoke limited English. Fortunately, pointing at the menu was clear enough. The food took eight minutes and nine seconds. Fast time! As mentioned, the Beef Rib Noodle Soup ($16.50 - Mild) is wonderful! It arrived picturesque and delicious!! However, despite ordering "mild," the food has a very strong heat; I sweat nonstop as I ate. The broth is rich, savory, and spicy. The meat is tender, flavorful, and falls off the bone. And the noodles are hefty, soft, and springy. It's a wonderful, euphoric combination of flavors and textures. Concerning ambiance, No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) is surprisingly spacious with its tall ceiling and relatively clean surroundings. However, its walls and furniture look worn down with time. Some seats even had torn holes. Unfortunately, the music uses radio with constant commercials playing in the background. Fortunately, there's a gender neutral restroom in the back. Overall, I found culinary magic at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights). The food is fresh, generously portioned, and well-prepared. I left full with a bright smile. If you enjoy spicy beef noodle soup, this is a must-try! 5 out of 5!! "GO!!"

I've tried quite a few dishes here and honestly everything has been solid. I usually get the house beef noodle but this time I tried the braised pork noodle. My friend got the hot and sour chaoshou which was also really good. The dumpling skin was chewy and they were packed with filling. It's also nice that you can customize the oil level in your broth. We ordered the pig ears as an appetizer too. I loved the crunchy texture but the flavor was a bit underwhelming. The initial taste was mostly chili oil and then the flavor kind of disappeared. What really sets this place apart is that they make their noodles fresh in-house--you can actually watch them being pulled through a window in the dining room. They also incorporate spices you don't usually find in Chinese cuisine, like cumin, which gave the dishes a really unique and delicious twist.
