If you're in the Diamond Bar area and craving authentic, comforting Chinese food, Chan Kee is definitely worth checking out. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm and welcoming--nothing overly fancy, just a cozy spot that lets the food speak for itself. The menu has a great variety, but what really stands out is how consistent and flavorful everything is. Each dish comes out fresh, hot, and packed with that classic home-style taste that's hard to find these days. The portions are generous, making it perfect whether you're dining solo or sharing family-style. Service is also a highlight--the staff is attentive, friendly, and makes you feel right at home without being overbearing. Overall, Chan Kee is one of those hidden gems you'll want to keep coming back to. Great food, solid portions, and a comfortable vibe--can't really ask for more.

Came here on a Sunday night to try the ayce $27.75 + $10 includes beers and other drinks. Service was excellent. Food was tasty. Will definitely coming back. Heard they were adding bogo and happy hour options soon Highlights: -Fried chicken wings. Very tasty and crispy - Baked Bolognese. Meaty and cheesy - shrimp wonton. Big and plump Lowlights - steamed fish siu Mai. On the rubbery side - fried oysters. Had a weird taste

We ordered and waited more than 30 min for 2 soups, 2 drinks. Not recommend when crowded. Our second order was chicken kaarage and 1 watermelon juice. Ordered at 1155 AM and now 1243 and still not ready. I asked and they said it got backlogged while everyone else that ordered after me got it first. 48 min. Is that acceptable to you? For one fried chicken and one juice?

Sometimes I can overlook the service a little if the food was just out of this world. I can't remember if I saw this on a food vlog or just spotted it on Yelp, so I bookmarked it. We were in the Walnut area and our other restaurants were closed on a Monday, so it was perfect timing to try Chan Kee. Never ever being here, I didn't know what to expect or how they operate. They had a sign on their procedure, but it was not prominent to me that I didn't notice it. When we walked in, it seemed as you just seat yourself and they had menus on the table. They had a lunch specials menu and breakfast all day menu. We took a minute to look at the menu and once decided I went to the staff member and he pointed me to the counter where they had the Kiosk's which I thought the guy would ask me if I needed help or had any questions. Nope, no customer service at all. I had a difficult time trying to find the things I want on the kiosk, it turns out the lunch specials were done and the all day breakfast is not available all day. So the guy gives me a different menu and the options were a bit different. Finally got my order in after 20! Minutes and I'm glad it didn't ask me for a top option. I was happy to see that they have a small sign that says No Tipping Please. Definitely not. Got our orders in a timely manner, but we had to pick it up at the counter. We ordered the Porridge, the pork chop bolognese with spaghetti and deep fried oysters. Fortunately for Chan Kee, the food was not terrible. The porridge was a little thick, but it was flavorful. Not sure if I'd come back but they do have other items worth trying and now that I know how to order and how they operate here, I would consider it if I'm here on a day my other restaurants are closed.

Nice Cantonese restaurant specializes in good congee and rice roll ( cheung fun ) Our favorite is the crab congee / abalone congee. Very flavorful. Their cheung fun is smooth and soft, just like the ones in Hong Kong Currently they are offering all you can eat option for $23.75, so you can try as many different kind of Cantonese food as possible. They have a premium option for $31.75. Thank you for the friendly service Cecilia!

I've been eating here for quite a long time. And I noticed that it's slowly gone downhill, especially after the remodels. It's unfortunate because this was our favorite congee spot. Today I ordered thousand year old porridge with pork. I will have to say this place does give a lot of toppings/protein. They also have combo meals which it did come with quite a lot of food for a porridge, side of noodles and a drink for about 12 Ish dollars . I ordered for takeout so I'm not sure if that makes a difference but shortly after I got my order, I was going to eat, and I opened it and there was a bunch of brown old smelly lettuce on top.. I was like how could they even think about serving this to anybody? It even had a bad odor. Writing this review, I see the old photos that I had posted for this place and that was when the food was good. But now with this spoiled lettuce, I'm not sure if this is a one time mistake but the food quality has definitely also gone down so I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon.

They've expanded the restaurant. It's much bigger now with more seating and I believe expanded their menu as well. The menu is so confusing. By the time you finish ordering, you end up ordering all kinds of things thinking it was with your meal. The girl who helped us was really nice but we had way more than expected. We thought all the side things came with the main (I.e. pan fried pork chops... then she gave an option to order rice but ended up being a side of fried rice etc). The food was ok. Idk, maybe I was just confused but you can go try for yourself. lol

Great place to have Hong Kong styled breakfast/lunch. Huge menu with so much to choose from. Ordering from the kiosk was overwhelming... thankfully the server helped me navigate and ordered my usual She was patient and friendly. The restaurant is clean and has plenty of seating. It is a self serve place (pick up and return trays) The food is yummy with great portion especially the porridge I like all the different combo variations With the new menu, I'll have to come back and try other items.

This place has really great porridge, everything else that we had which was the wonton noodles and rice rolls were OK nothing special. I would come back to eat their porridge, though, they have a nice container that keeps it really hot, large portions, and lots of sides that you can add to the porridge. I also like their Hong Kong milk tea. I thought it tasted great and they have a lot of options you can do such as less milk, more milk, less sugar, etc. Their prices are average to high for the type of good, it was $50 for 3 dishes (one combo) and 2 milk tea. I will say the ordering system was hard to navigate. They have a lot of different options and special ways to order making it slightly overwhelming when I first saw the monitor.

Waited closed to 45 mins for my take out and the restaurant only had about 6-7 dining in.

Got here at 7:35am and saw a customer trying to open the door but was locked. Supposed to open at 7:30 according to the sign. Came back 20 mins later and it was opened. Went in to use the self ordering kiosk for the first time and the only option I see. One of the staff was nice and helpful when asked for assistance. Placed my order at 8:01 but was not ready until 45 mins later. Had about 6-7 people in total at the dine in area, few came before I ordered, and few after. Nonetheless they all got their food way before I got mine. My sister from out of town asked for this place, but if it was me I will never come back due to the slowness of this place nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone. There are other options around this area that I am confident that have better service. I'm not a fan of places asking for tips prior to receiving service and food. This is one of the places that does. What is their justification?

Do they take phone order now after the new ordering system? Or need to wait in line with dine in customers to order inside the restaurant?

They introduced a brand new phone number today for phone orders. The cashier mentioned that it will be connected to your credit card. The new phone number is (909) 895-7791.

Are these hours on Yelp accurate? Also what is the best way to contact them? Their website shows almost everything out of stock.

    You can now order online

Are they open yet? It said hours update a week ago! Called in still no answer...

Yes. They are open and it's much bigger and nicer than before. They are having problem with their phone line, so you just have to go in to order, or just stop by to see how nice the new place is. They did move to next door from the old spot.

Does anyone know if they're open back up again from renovation?

    Still closed

Are they open now, or still closed for renovations?

Their opening date keeps getting pushed back. Curiously, there is a new Chan Kee in Rowland heights across from Puente Hills mall. Not sure if they are abandoning this one and moving?

Does anyone know if the tan colored sauce for the rice roll consists of peanuts? Thank you

    Yes

    Are they open for dine-in?

Yes, they are open but their phone# still pending

    Do they have outdoor seating?

    No they do not

Do they sell frozen fish shumai?

    No, they do not.

Is it common that their phone is not available?

No, i saw the waitress using a land line.

I haven't been to your restaurant yet, but would to know if you guys would consider making fish siu mai (魚肉燒賣)? I lived in LA for 18 years and have yet to see a restaurant carry that item. You'd make my dream come true. :)

you can find fish siu mai at Sheng Hui Dim Sum. https://www.yelp.com/biz/sheng-hui-dim-sum-west-covina-2?osq=dim+sum

Fortunately, they serve both. We both love siomai, duck, and crispy salted squid so we ordered the trio. The siomai was fresh. Tasted as if it was just off a lunch cart. It's delicious and the serving size is quite generous. The price is unbeatable too. We really enjoyed its balanced taste. Sometimes, siomai can be a bit bland but this was packed with flavor. The Peking Duck was great too. Reminded us of our time in Hong Kong. Less oily but still delicious. The buns were great too. We both enjoyed every bite. The sauce was excellent too. It had sweetness to it from the pineapple sauce. The salted crispy squid is balanced. Salty yet a bit sweet. It's definitely more of the indulgent side of things. Best paired with rice. We skip the carbs that night, but we'll definitely order this again paired with something else. The service here is great. Everyone is welcoming and helpful. It doesn't feel like rushed service. Ambiance here feels like your typical Chinese restaurant. It's clean and you can tell it has aged over time. You're here for the good food though, not the aesthetics. This will definitely be our local go to. We genuinely enjoyed the food and can't wait to explore more of the menu during our next visit.

My family said to arrive at 10 AM because it gets really crowded and of course around 10:30 AM it was definitely crowded. The wait time range from 30 minutes to an hour depending on your party size. This place still has carts where the staff would push carts around and serve the dim sum dishes around the entire restaurant and you get the pick and choose, and whichever you choose, they will stamp on your paper form and it'll be added up within the end for your total. We ordered a ton of different dishes. My favorite were the shui mai, it was actually everyone's favorite. I also enjoyed the pork spareribs, chicken feet and sesame ball. Unfortunately, the inside of the restaurant did have an unusual smell. I laughed when my son said it smelled real bad inside and had to remind him to be respectful as we are not too sure why it smells like mildew or off water. It was also so loud and a bit chaotic that I felt super rushed eating for some reason I think the combination of everyone moving around talking loud and the off smell wasn't a good experience for me. Overall, it was a bit expensive. My family did pay a pretty big price, but we had a party of 10. The restaurant also had plenty of live fish and other crustaceans for seafood dishes and they are displayed near the entrance. I am not sure if I would come back on my own just because of how chaotic it was, but my family does enjoy coming here for nostalgia reasons and I do enjoy being around them here. In the morning, this plaza has plenty of parking near the end, but it can get really crowded once it gets towards lunchtime around 11 or 12Pm. If you do come, the elevator is always being used so try to use the stairs if you do not want to wait long the plaza is full of various stores and there's more parking underground, but luckily it was so early that we were able to find a parking space nearby.

Our waiter was fast, friendly, and really on top of things, which made a big difference since it was packed. Ordering is simple, they give you a paper menu where you mark what you want and hand it back. We ordered tea for two and picked a bunch of dim sum: jumbo shrimp har gow, shrimp fried wontons, steamed rice noodle roll with shrimp, baked abalone sauce BBQ pork bun, poached Chinese broccoli, and custard egg tarts. Everything came out fresh and hit the spot. The har gow were plump and juicy, the rice noodle rolls were soft and silky, and the BBQ pork buns had that perfect slightly sweet, fluffy texture. The egg tarts were a great finish--warm and flaky. Also... we were so hungry we totally forgot to take pictures of the rest of the food Overall, a good dim sum spot, however I felt like the prices were a bit higher than the other dim some places I usually go to.
