Pork dumplings: there's a bit of Szechuan spice in the vinegar sauce. Pork meat was nice and juicy. Dumpling skin was thin enough but held the dumpling together. Great dish to share! I love Mian! Every time I visit the staff is always friendly, the food is consistent, and the restaurant is usually pretty quiet, clean, and relaxed. I've tried quite a few dishes here and honestly everything has been solid. I usually get the house beef noodle but this time I tried the braised pork noodle. The noodles had the perfect bouncy texture, the pork was super tender, and the bok choy added a nice crunch that helped balance the richness of the broth. My friend got the hot and sour chaoshou which was also really good. The dumpling skin was chewy and they were packed with filling. It's also nice that you can customize the oil level in your broth. We ordered the pig ears as an appetizer too. I loved the crunchy texture but the flavor was a bit underwhelming. The initial taste was mostly chili oil and then the flavor kind of disappeared. They have a lot of other great appetizers on the menu so I'd probably skip this one next time. Very authentic, very spicy, and very tasty. This noodle shop has a variety of different Szechuan noodles and appetizers. We usually come for the Chengdu zhajiang noodles, but also added on some cold apps and they didn't disappoint. Although still very spicy, the tofu with century egg dish had a calming effect to it that helped relieved some of the spices. Ive been going to the San Gabriel location for years and decided to try their other location. The chairs are extremely uncomfortable if youre over a size 34in waist. So i had to sit in a booth. The service wasnt that great as the worker didnt seem to care ehat was going on and they messed up our order. The food itself was ok. The golden soup noodle and dumplings weren't good at all. Weird texture for the broth. I've had these dishes at the other location and they were way better. The century egg tofu was good though, as was the toothpick chicken. I visited again for some quick lunch and decided to order the Chengdu zajiang noodles, an entree with mala spice. I've only tried the numbing and spicy sensation from mala a few times. I thought the mild version was my limit as anything spicier would've been too much for me. The tingling sensation on my tastebuds was a little strong even with mild spice. Food: Toothpick chicken 孜然鸡丁 (10/10) - The price justifies the portion. The chicken was juicy and the seasoning was perfect. Not too salty or spicy to override the chicken flavor. Chengdu Zajiang Noodles 成都杂酱面 (9.5/10) - The portion is smaller but it is enough for me to not feel too full. I ordered it mild spicy and I honestly didn't taste much spicy. They were generous with the topping though and the noodles were chewy/cooked perfectly. I also tried the House Beef Noodles and Hot Sour Glass Noodles from my friends. The house beef noodles were more oily and on the spicier side than Zajiang Noddles. I do not recommend Hot Sour Glass Noodles because it tastes mostly sour than spicy, and it doesn't have any toppings. read more

It's rare these days to find an establishment that truly excels at both great customer service and great food, but this place does exactly that. Speaking of ordering things: they have online ordering, FYI. The service is good, but you don't see them much, really. The dishes come faster than average, and I smelled the noodle sauce before I knew it. The first appetizer that came was the crispy cucumber. It was crunchy and satisfying, then I felt like Remy from Ratatouille tasting something he liked for the first time. They sure are right about calling it crispy. The second appetizer that came was the Steamed egg and minced pork in a mug. When I first saw it, I thought the egg was tofu because it looked so soft. It felt like this savory, tasty pudding. The third appetizer was the Chengdu style potato snack. It was spicy but I also felt the calm potato cooling down the spice. It had the right amount of everything. Not too far later, the noodles arrived! We got the house beef noodles, except I felt that if we got normal spicy level, I would not be able to handle it. It just had this irresistible smell and... Oops I think I ate it all! The other noodle was the Golden chicken soup noodle. It was like an Asian sichuan spicy version of chicken noodle soup! I would definitely come to Mian again. This is my favorite Mian location so far (I have been to a few other locations). I feel like their portions are generous (most intestine I have gotten) and the quality has been consistent. I recommend less salty and less oily if you want the cleaner taste of the soup. My favorite are pork ribs, pork belly and intestine noodles soup. Beef was just okay because it was quite chewy and tough last time I got it. I really love the texture of the noodles here. It is nice that you can order through your phone and choose the spice levels or customize your order. The orders come out pretty quick too. The ambiance was great. The place looked new and clean with decent amount of seating. I was surprised that it was pretty empty on a Friday night. Parking or seating has never been an issue. It was so juicy and the sweet and spicy sauce they used was so well balanced and had an umami explosion of flavor. I would come back here just for the dumplings. There was no line when we came on a weekend during lunch and we got to pick where we wanted to sit. You scan their menu and order directly on your phone. The food came out very quick as well. This place was not as crowded when we visited on a Saturday around lunch time. The parking lot here gets very packed because there are so many different restaurants and vendors in the plaza. The restaurant itself is very well lit, clean and has very nice decorations. The food menu is a QR code so you order via your phone. The utensils and water will be provided by the wait staff. They use to serve complementary mung bean drinks but they no longer do so. You can still have them at $6 a pitcher. The food came out not long after we ordered. We got the cold noodle, zhaijiang hot noodle, and pork dumplings with varying spice levels. Their Szechuan spice has got some bite to it and it will leave your mouth numb, so be careful when choosing your spice level. The pork Dumpling is definitely my all time favorite here. They're cool and refreshing to start out with before you move onto their fries. I know I know, it sounds weird, but their fries are pretty amazing. It's a nice mix of spicy and sweet that's unique from other fries you may have. Now, the noodles. The zhazhiang noodles is probably the first thing you should go for. Mix it all in for that delicious numbing spicy with a healthy side of veggies, ground pork, and egg with noodles. If you want soup, then the beef noodle soup is a great alternative. Lots of beef, lots of veggies, lots of noodles, lots of spice, can't go wrong with that. The mapo tofu was okay, it's not bad but I'm a little biased towards the one I make at home but I digress. Otherwise, service is quick, you order via QR code, and it's not too crowded that you ever wait long. Visited MIAN for the first time this past weekend as per my sister's recommendation. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by the staff. They bring out the water as soon as you sit. Each table has a QR code to access the menu and to allow each person in the party to add items. We ordered the appetizer set which comes with 6 different cold appetizers and the cumin fries. The cumin fries were delicious! The fries are crinkle cut fries who are seasoned with cumin and sweet spices...the contrast of the cumin and the sweet spices is exceptional, highly recommend this item! For my main entree, I ordered the spare rib noodle soup, the broth is spicy (mild level) and rich; comes with a generous amount of noodles and spare rib piece.
