The theater itself is great. You buy your ticket before hand, the matinee prices are good and I really appreciate that you have leg room and an easy enter and exit. They always have a beer I like so that's another big plus. The food mediocre and often a bit slow. It was better before Covid and the shut down. For some reason they feel the need to remove things from the menu during certain times of the year, which I notice because they are my favorite items. I appreciate that they have specials and although I don't think they are usually very good I'm glad they try. The popcorn is good. If they had a deep fryer it would transform their business. Just say'n. Update: I went there again last weekend and I highly recommend the pizza. I think it's the best thing on the current menu. Mostly I'm happy they exist as I like having a theater close by so I forgive the food, but might go more often if it was better. read more

The movie theatre is local, shows select new movies, and has a decent menu. They serve the food during the movie which was a little distracting but not as much as I thought it would be. My party of 3 got our food more than an hour after we ordered, and one of our orders was wrong but the staff were nice during the process. They serve pizza, chicken strips, hot sandwiches, soda, beer, and wine. There were quite a few people seeing quite a few movies which might have attributed to the delay. Would recommend, and will definitely go back and see another movie there. I'll take more pictures next time! read more

Lot of variety here for the food and it's usually pretty good. Personally I have found the experience is very nice when they're not too busy. On a busy opening it is hard to see your food until the last 30 minutes of a film. Which is why I prefer to go there a few days or so after an opening premiere. Much prefer to go here instead of a normal theater because of the food and prices alone for snacks. It doesn't feel like highway robbery and you have tables to eat on. It is cozy, though I think they could use new seats. It doesn't matter much in the end; higher end theaters like regal give recliners but I ask myself to other reviewers, do you *really* need that? I grew up with standard seating which they have, and I think it would be hard to do that with the tables to eat the food on. So it is adequate for the set up, I just think they could do with getting new seats for the fact that they are getting squeaky and flatter. I won't disparage their name for this though; I think that's a bit much. Fact of the matter is, I think it's a fun experience to go to northern lights and prefer it over other bar theaters. Plus, I like supporting smaller businesses. read more

This is one of the best kept secrets here in Salem! Not only is the staff exceptionally friendly and hard working, but you can tell they truly care. Sadly we haven't tried much of the food there as we have a gluten allergy, but what we have purchased has been at a fair price compared to other theaters. We usually go during their sensory showings as our daughter has autism and the changes they make for these showings allows her to enjoy the movie more. Our last adventure there was to see Migration (great movie!) and they were even able to do subtitles! Definitely worth the stop... and they are a first showing theater now! read more

Oh wow! It was so much fun! I bought our tickets online and got to choose our super comfy seats ahead of time. We got our food, which was very good. Our favorite was the cookie sundae. It was really delectable. This was a live comedy show. The opening act was from New York and was very funny. The main act was down right amazing! It was interactive and very NOT politically correct. They were closed for 2 years during the pandemic. You'd think they would've used that time to replace the seats, paint, and renovate the space. NLTP used to be a great place for second-run. Now they have first-run for more money. Yes, they're cheaper than Cinebarre, but Cinebarre has great seats. NLTP increased food prices and decreased quality. The seats are awful, as if 300 lb people broke the springs so you sag into the seat. There's a stale smell in the air. They keep the lights dim BEFORE the movie so you can't see your seat number, but I really think it's so you can't see how disgusting and stained the seats are. The cider tasted flat and watered down. I paid extra for guacamole on my nachos (which used to be standard). The guacamole tasted bitter and ruined the meal. The only good thing is that it's $5 on Tuesdays. Unfortunately the movie sucked. I would've been better off getting takeout and watching something on Prime instead. read more

Outdated, screens ghost, seats are uncomfortable and worn down, service was terrible and rude, came for a 8:40pm showing and I showed up with my party at 8:20 so we could get drinks and try the food. Rude lady working said, "our kitchen is closed and we have no beer tonight.". A huge let down, the only thing going for them is a $5 movie ticket on a Tuesday, other than that I don't see how they can expect anyone to want to return here when they close their kitchen down for select show times and can't keep beer on tap, let alone maintain their theatre or make renovations after 20+ years. I'd rather spend the extra money and go to the Lancaster mall theatre. Such a huge and sad let down, was hoping to support local but not after this experience. read more

Whenever I'm in the mood to catch a movie, I always check with the Northern Lights first. This place is always such a treat! Not only is it affordable to get in, but they have a great menu that you can eat during the movie, it's not just boring popcorn. The bar is a really nice option too. I love the location as well because there's a lot of restaurants near the theater to enjoy before or after the show. Even an arcade. Love this place, I've been a customer since it opened way back in the day. The food is seriously lacking now tho, low quality ingredients and greasy. The popcorn wasn't good either. Great place to take the family for a cheap movie. The kids movies tend to sell out quick so I recommend getting there a little early.

Our first experience here...really enjoyed the comedy show but the guy at the bar was an azz. He had a bad attitude and was very unpleasant, unhelpful. My husband asked about the ciders...which one was the least sweet. The guy says "I don't know, I don't drink." He looked burnt out but he could have said a number of things such as well, the X seems to be popular, or we have X on tap and the others are bottles....something. He is a man in the wrong job...people are there to have fun and he just put a damper on our experience. Any question we asked he looked at us like we were idiots. If I had an employee with this kind of attitude....he'd be gone in 2 seconds. Also, wine is served in dingy ugly plastic cup. This place has such HUGE potential...can't believe it's not managed better...such a shame. read more

I am glad that this theater reopened! Our tickets were only $5.00 per person. Good quality food on a budget and friendly service! My son really liked the Polish hot dog. My favorite one was the chocolate chip cookie sundae - it's pretty big so better to share with someone :) They also have the best popcorn in town! LOVE this theatre. My son is medically fragile and there's not much to do for kids with disabilities. He's on life support, so he has a few machines that beep. They do a sensory showing of family and animated type movies! It's seriously amazing and we try to always support it. They post it a couple weeks in advance, but I don't always have nurses on the days they have showing or else I'd always go. The staff always helps me get to my seat (struggling with all the machines, bags, and emergency gear) and they always have a smile on their face. They always say hello to my son and make us feel wanted there. There's still a ton of places we can't go and do, so without this place my family wouldn't get to experience the movie theatre. We can't wait for Frozen 2 to play there (my Children's favorite). Please come support this theatre! Great staff and the food is really good. I really love the sauce on their burgers and the chicken nachos are delicious. We went to all the sensory Aladdin shows. read more
