This was my second visit to the pink elephant tavern and just like the last time they did not disappoint. I got "The Usual Suspect" which is two eggs, bacon or sausage and smashed potato. I got mine with the sausage patty. The patty is very thick, I would say about an inch or so, and whatever the recipe or brand is for that sausage I want it. It was very tasty. Had just the right amount of spices for flavor not overly salty, spicy or sweet. Eggs were cooked to perfection over medium just how I like them. The whites were set, but the yolks were still soft. The mashed potato is just what they say, it is a baked potato that has been placed on its side and smashed onto the grill to get crispy skin on both sides. What a great idea and use of leftover baked potato, I'm gonna have to steal it. The portions were large enough that I ate both of my eggs about a third of the sausage and a couple bites of potato, and the rest came home with me and was enough to add eggs to for two more breakfasts. If you're looking for bread, I believe they said they had biscuits or croissants, but they do not have any bread for toast or English muffins or anything like that. read more

They have four pool tables that appear to be in excellent condition. They require quarters and there is a nearby change machine. There is a Touch Tunes jukebox connected to Bose speakers, which sounds amazing. I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries. The patty was juicy and bacon crisp. Their house-made sauce was very good. Overall, a great experience and I am looking forward to returning here. read more

INCREDIBLE!!! On the recommendation of Salem Bites we came to try their burger. The service was outstanding and the ambiance was clean and tidy. We ordered a bacon cheese burger $16.50 Crispy fried onions, thick cut bacon, smothered in house cheese sauce, lettuce and baconnaise on a buttery bun. I can't say enough about this tasty burger. The chef must love what he does because this burger is over the top delicious. The house cheese sauce was the icing on the "cake". The burger was perfectly cooked and lightly seasoned. I was pleasantly surprised the bun held this epic burger all together. The burger comes with house cut fries, I used the left over cheese sauce as a dipping sauce YUM!!!! Don't judge a book by its cover. I've been here a few times off and on over the last 20 years. They always have the best food. You would be surprised the chefs put together some of the best salads I've had to date. The chefs were exceptionally gracious. Shortly, after our steak salad and house salad arrived, we got croissants that would make France blush. read more

Statement Regarding Food Contamination at The Pink Elephant (Lancaster) My partner and I went to The Pink Elephant on Lancaster to watch the Alabama football game and have dinner. We ordered a pizza and a bacon cheeseburger. When the food arrived, everything appeared normal. My partner began eating her half of the burger. When I asked how it was, she said it was "okay." A short time later, I reached for the other half of the burger and noticed something unusual. At that point, my partner had already eaten her portion. I disassembled the burger and discovered a folded paper-like material lodged underneath the patty on the bottom bun. Based on its appearance and condition, it did not resemble any edible ingredient. I notified the manager. She stated that the material was wax paper from the cheese. However, the material shown in the photos does not visually match standard cheese wrapping or food-grade paper. While I attempted to document the item with photos, the manager tried to remove the plate. I declined until documentation was complete, then returned the plate. I requested the owner's name and contact information and was told it would not be provided. At that point, other patrons attempted to weigh in, though they were not present when the item was discovered and could not see the material clearly. Because part of the burger had already been consumed prior to discovering the foreign material, we are now seeking medical evaluation to ensure there are no health risks related to possible contamination. read more

Dinner was disappointing. Service and overall atmosphere was great as always. We have eaten dinner here a few times the food is always prepared perfectly the cook does a great job and is very friendly. The quality of the meat is what is the main issue. The chicken itself was inedible. No way either of us could bite through the chicken on our sandwiches. Will not be going back for food because it's the quality of the meat purchased not the cook. That will not change because it's the cheapest option and it seems to be ok for them. Just a warning for anyone who doesn't want to eat dog food quality meat. read more

This place isn't much to look at from the outside, although it is pink with pink striped parking. But upon entering the nondescript door, the inside has the perfect 'dive' look and feel. The bartender was friendly and immediately attentive. The drinks are good and very fairly priced. Our party had burgers and fries. The fries are cut in house and are my favorite kind. (Maybe a little less salt.). The burgers rival Salem's best with flavorful bacon and good beef regardless of which burger you order. The cook delivered the burgers to our table with a flourish! This restaurant's parking lot was just remodeled and looks good so I thought I'd stop by because I was really hungry. The server was very unprofessional. She didn't even greet me with a hello or how are you but with the look of what can I pour you. The food looked so very over priced with the bartender also being the cook. Nothing to eat under $11. Dollars. $12 for a house salad??? I won't return even though I live in the neighborhood. This is a nice dive bar. It's a good location to watch the game, hang out with friends or play pool. The customers here are almost always a friendly bunch so it's very welcoming. The bar is well lit and has more sunlight coming in then most bars. Their menu is full of good deals and they have a decent food menu. It's usually pretty relaxed inside but it can get busy on the weekends. They have a juke box if you want to play your own music and outside seating is an option as well. read more

We are regulars at this bar; But it's a shame that we were treated like bad customers when we are very much regulars. When the bartenders are off the clock they get extremely drunk and hang around our crowd but when they are on the clock they are very strict and consistently cutting us off. It was my bestfriends birthday and we sang to her and we immediately got told that we were cut off. After all we did was sing to our best friend happy birthday. Such an aggressive night when we went to celebrate our nephews 21st birthday, not only did they keep the aggressor in the bar but they kicked out the people who were innocent in the situation. When we decided to get our last drink and tab out, we were told that we were cutoff and that we purchased too many drinks when we were buying for a table of eight. When we didn't a tip due to the explanation of the drinks we purchased weren't for us, we were told our tab was over what they could serve to one person. No understanding of the split orders left it to the party we were with. The security did great and we did tip them, but the bartender confronting us for not tipping is over the top because we totally would have if they wouldn't have kept serving the aggressor in the fight situation. read more

If you can get past the shady location of the four corners district in Salem, then the Pink Elephant isn't so bad. The bar itself is quite small but has an array of video poker machines, pool tables, and friendly bartenders. You'll find people of all ages here from 25-65, its a very good mesh of people all in one area. The smoke may be a bit heavy for those nonsmokers out there so, thank goodness the door isn't far way. Drink prices aren't outstandingly high with beers that range from $3-7 a bottle or can. A nice place to spend with friends, jukeboxes and big screen TVs. read more

The only reason this bar gets two stars is because the service and drinks were good. Now the "Bouncer" excuse me security guard took his job way to seriously and portrayed himself to be an on duty police officer. Me and by good friend were cut off well before closing time due to asking him what kinda of fire arm he was carrying and so forth and so on.... I love this bar been a long time loyal good tipping customer. however recently it's just not inviting anymore. Last night when we arrived at 730 on a Saturday with 6 cars in the lot. Ordered drinks and a pizza. Over an hour later, 4 beers drank moderately (you do the drinking math) still no pizza. I asked about the pizza three different times. When finally received The security staff overreacted and needs to take courses in reading the threat and art of de-escalation. When the gentleman in our company asked frustratedly about the time it took. His jumping in and not allowing the customer to express themselves escalated the situation and then told us to leave. It's one thing to be alone and busy but when I ordered it was not overly busy. It's another to not be humble when you know you didn't communicate or treat the customer right. It's even another when security takes the job way to seriously. I seriously love my raspberry lemon drops made there, but it's not a biker bar and not everyone is out to get someone. The right way would be to allow the bartender the ability to make things right, to not jump at every frustrated question as a physical threat. Don't make half ass excuses for poor services and don't make it worse. When you push out all of the long time mature customers because you treat them poorly, all that will be left is no tipping youngsters read more

The pink is my and my husband go to! Josh and Emily are the best! The food is awesome all the bar tenders are great. The environment is friendly parking can be crowded ar times and so many pot holes but heck they make up for it! Cant wait until the covid19 is over with so we can enjoy a cold one with Josh and Emily again! Miss you guys read more

Ok so it was my best friends birthday so we parked in the parking lot to walk to the adult shop in the next space. When we came out of the adult shop we sat for only 10 minutes trying to figure out where to go next when a lady comes out and starts yelling and screaming at us telling us to move. It would have been fine if she was polite and asked nicely because I understand some business have different policies and stuff but she was just rude straight off the bat. I obviously have a yelp account but rarely feel compelled enough to write a review, but last night's experience at the pink elephant was one I feel the need to express. It was this years St. Paddys, which fell on a Saturday, and I was with my girlfriend and her brother. We were in North Salem which is littered with dive bars, which I have no problem with, primarily what I care about is good service, well poured drinks and having a good time. We were on a mission to find a place that would serve Irish car bombs, being that it was St. patricks and my gf's brother had never had one. Our 3rd stop was the pink elephant, the other bars either ran out or didn't carry Guiness. I headed straight to the bar to ask if they served Irish car bombs. The bartender, a bigger/taller woman with blonde hair (not to be rude but I never caught her name & no other way to describe her) was behind the bar. She was talking w/ a patron who seemed to be a friend and obviously wasn't ordering a drink, and pretty much ignored me as I waited for her to ask me what I'd like to order. After about a minute of me standing there, she finally makes eye contact with me, mumbles something about having to make coffee then walks away. I'm thinking...okay, I guess I'll just wait. So she comes back after a couple minutes and asks me what I want to drink, in a very non-friendly tone as if I'm being a nuisance for being there and making her do her job. I ordered 3 irish car bombs which she said she could make, but that she needed to see the 2 other people. My reply was, "why do you need to see them? there's a bouncer at the front door and everybody in here has been carded." Mind you I wasn't trying to argue or be an ass about it, I was just curious because it seemed unnecessary. She responds in an even more rude/aggressive tone of voice, and says "look, you're not getting your drinks until I see the other people." I say "okay, whatever you say," and given, I have a pissed off tone in my voice at this point because I'm not used to bartenders/servers giving attitude for no reason. As I'm walking away to get the 2 other people, she says "you know what, I'm not going to serve you." At this point, I'd had enough and was glad to leave this place and go on to another bar. I know this review has been very verbose and wordy, but it was a very frustrating experience and there was no reason this situation got to where it did. Overall the bartender made things personal when it didn't need to be, and because of it lost her bar revenue, a tip for herself, and potential future business. There's a reason they refer to a bartender as working in the "service industry," being that the key word is service & this bartender failed miserably in this area. Maybe she was having a bad night, but a professional doesn't bring it to work with them and take it out on their patrons. read more

Two words: DIVE BAR. But in my vocabulary those aren't bad words. I've been going here for about 8 years now, and it's only gotten better. As for the last reviewer it's clear he hasn't been there in a while. Its no longer smokey (oregon law), they've built a covered patio in back for the smokers. Food is your typical greasy bar fair, but lets be honest, we don't go to these types of places for the food. Its mainly there for when you get the munchies. So I and my partner go there often to play the machines and at times have a drink. Any who we went about 1:20 am on a Saturday night. And the bouncer ID us, so we played the machines. So around 2:10 we needed change so I went to the bar. After standing there for 3 mins I asked the guy bartender could I have change, he then argued with me saying I just got there and basically called me a liar. I responded and said I been here for awhile and I don't appreciate being called a liar. He then said " I don't like my customers lying and wasn't giving me change". I then left and was upset.
