I tried to like this place because of their selection of beers but that's the only good thing about this place. I've been here a handful of times. Their quesadilla is great but the condiments they give on the side always smelled expired. The customer service each time I have went has always, always been extremely terrible. I have gone early in the day, evenings, and weekends. Each time, each bartender was a terrible experience. The chef is nice the bartenders can learn a thing or two from him. Even with the expired smelling condiments. The bartenders act like they're too good to take your order. Each time I've went I have to wave my hand to get their attention or walk to the front of the bar for them to take my order. Even on days when it's just me and one other person. Kraftworks has an amazing beer selection! All the beers they have on tap (I'm guessing over 20 beers) are all great, local craft beers. In addition to great beer, they have great food with a pretty large menu. We ordered the cheesesteak sandwich and a grilled chicken salad. We loved both! The cheese sauce was so good on the sandwich, I'd put that on anything. My only complaint is there were few tables available. We ended up sitting at the bar which was fine, but we would have been more comfortable in a booth or at a table. read more

My most favorite sandwich that they serve here is the philly cheese steak and I am so happy that they've kept the recipe after a whole year I've been gone! Curly fries on the side is the way to go! The collection of hot sauce they also bring to your table too!!! Muah! Elevates the whole experience even further! I've been a pretty regular guest here since opening day! Amazing food, amazing drinks, and amazing service. Definitely a staple of the downtown Salem bar scene. COVID has been hard on all of us so it's very nice to see a business that operates with everyone's public health in mind. One day we won't have to worry about accidentally transmitting the disease to our friends and family who are part of a sensitive population group, but until then, I'm happy to see businesses like Kraft enforce public health guidelines. I ordered a beer that was absolutely atrocious, took 2 swallows and asked for something different. Got the bill and was charged for it. Thursday night and hardly anybody in the place. My first place to check out cleanliness of a business, is the bathroom. No toilet paper, and they were filthy. So it wasn't a surprised to find something stuck to the beer glass. Saw somebody eating nachos that looked OK, but I wouldn't touch anything. One of the most disgusting places I've been to in a long time. read more

To start with, I don't need my hand stamped on a Friday night at 9pm; either just close to minors at 8pm or train your bar staff. Next up, after getting faux branded and sitting at an almost empty bar, I was faced with a pair of annoyances: I) an extremely boring beer list II) neither looking one of the two bartenders in the eye, nor placing a credit card on the bar so much as drew any sign that there was life back behind the high polished wood... The menu is boring, the chipotle "aioli" is vaguely pink-colored ranch & the bison burger is both lacking in seasoning and charred on one side only. Would I stop here for a draft? Perhaps. Dinner? No. With friends? No. I'll give it 6 months and try again. read more

Back in town for Thanksgiving and stopped in for a drink with my oldest sister. We got there around 11pm and I wasn't super impressed with what was offered on tap...not the biggest deal, a drink is a drink. My sister ordered a grey goose and soda and they only had some sort of mango grey goose or something weird. The bartender/owner was fine. Not the friendliest, he seemed to be annoyed, who knows. It didnt bother me because my sister and I sat at the bar and caught up, it was nice. My sister bought a song on the jukebox and i watched the bartender with his "what the heck is this song" face...go and look (side note it was eddie vedder and how dare you scowl!?) He changed it! The song didnt finish and i saw him pick up a remote and click aimed at the jukebox. I thought it was super rude, considering she paid for it...and was the only one to have requested something in the mostly empty bar. So that rubbed me the wrong way. But again, let it go. My sister went downstairs (not blocked off) and came back up when she realized it was storage and extra booze or whatever. She got scolded by the bartender which fueled my building annoyances. It eventually got brought up again - by the owner....to the guy sitting next to us at the bar.... For how not big of a deal it was i thought he was being unnecessarily condescending and rude. It really set me off and I asked for my tab and to get the hell out of there. So all that to say. It could be a rad place and maybe we caught it on a bad day but my first experience was terrible and I promised him i'd never be back. YOURE IN OREGON BE NICE. Its not hard. read more

I've loved this place since they've opened and they just keep improving; it's a fresh place downtown and completely different vibe than the usual bar or Taphouse. They've got their taptree installed and have nearly doubled their taplist (they had 29 the last time I was in). If you're looking for a varied selection of good beer, Kraftworks is a place to check out. They've got some well-known favs plus many unique beers you won't find elsewhere. I'm always very impressed with their darks on tap and am very happy that they always have a nitro available. With summer, they've doubled their outdoor seating, but I'd really like to see more seating inside. Especially now that they've finally got a full menu, sometimes you don't want to sit at the bar and they're getting bigger crowds....so, more tables inside please. Ok, so the menu. It always been good, even when it was limited. Since they've had the full menu rockin, you'll be hard pressed to not find something for everyone's taste. Carnivores will love the ribeye and the bison burger! Kraftworks has been hit with a few harsh reviews related to staffing. Stopped by here after I didn't make it on time to the Convention Center Beer Fest with the brothers and lady. Friends met up after they left the beer fest. This place was pretty roomy. I didn't get to try any of their beer at the time (Psh...I know, right?) but I did order their nachos and it was pretty good. Atmosphere was cool and it was a pretty chill spot. A vast improvement from what used to be in this location. Great selection of beer on tap which is why you come to a taphouse! They also have a full bar in case there are people in your party who like that sort of thing. I cant speak for the food. Didnt have any. Pros: seating, nice woodwork, games (Big Buck Hunter), outdoor seating, live music on Fridays. Cons: food is overpriced, LONG wait times (even on super slow nights), poorly made mixed drinks, multiple owners who never work, filthy bar, filthy bathrooms, filthy tables, filthy floors, flithy walls, broken foosball table is filthy, artwork on walls is a mess, rude doorguys, outdoor seating (which is a negative too because you share your seats with vagrants and drug addicts), poor beer selection (even though they have 30 taps), and constantly running out of key liquor which means drinks can't be made right if at all. It basically means this is the last bar in downtown Salem you should visit. Even a dive bar on the outskirts of town would be a better choice because you wouldn't be over spending for your drinks. read more

This is the best bar downtown. While Coin Jam gets a lot of (well-deserved) acclaim, they only serve beer which leaves something to be desired amid all the great arcade games. Kraft has a wide variety of liquors (including some unique infused liquors of their own) plus a great spread of drafts. They've got a jukebox and excellent music selection even when the jukebox isn't playing as well as a few gaming options (Big Buck,foosball,cards,pinball). Their outdoor seating is a welcome relief when it's packed after midnight like it usually is. The bartenders are funny, friendly, and knowledgeable. The food is always great, I've eaten here plenty times and am always impressed. The new menu items like the stir fry are so damn good. I wouldnt trust the other reviews regarding bad staff based on one experience. I've been coming here since the place opened and the staff has always been courteous and fast and continues to get better. Don't sleep on this spot downtown! read more

The woman bartender who was wearing all black with black lipstick and black hair was literally the rudest person I have ever seen. She was not interested in customer service whatsoever. In the time we were there she claimed she did not have a credit card for a patron that she did, swore at multiple customers, shamed them for not having one single drink order for multiple people. She had zero patience for patrons of the bar and absolutely ruined the experience. Her fellow male bartender found he aforementioned card and serviced his side of the bar at least twice as fast as her and was SO nice. read more

One of my favorite bars in downtown by far! The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you are well taken care of. The new art that has been going up really makes this bar stand out. I feel like it's the neighborhood cool kids bar;) there's always something going on and local hip hop?! Brilliant. I love the vibe this place creates because it's comfortable yet hipster. Went to the night lizard show. Friend ordered nachos which were the perfect ratio of toppings to chips. We made it through almost all of them! They had a basket of hot sauces to choose from! Had some amazing pineapple cider too! For as busy as they were they were great at getting drinks pretty fast. Food took a few but there were orders ahead of our. Great experience! read more
