we have a good experience with this place , my sister was in the ventilator machine for almost 2 years, with the good care giving her medication, keeping her clean, giving her physical therapy and all that my sister she finally could get out from the ventilator. on may 17th 2024 I went to visit my mom in this facility. it was very evident that she was being abused. she had a pic line in a main artery that was completely black and left in her for weeks for no reason she had a bed sore so bad it ate through her tailbone she had no railings on her bed she suffered many falls and broke her wrist which they never treated they took her off her diabetic medication and she ended up in the ICU for 13 days they took 17 liters of wat out of her and she was admitted for cardiogenic shock. I do not recommend this place and if u have no choice visit as much as possible they removed the google reviews and the facility of google and google maps after i posted my moms story in the reviews it's not on google maps anymore either read more

My father died from medical negligence due to a CNA. This place should have been closed down years ago. Why is my father dying because of their nurses half assed duties. Horrendous nursing home. I just attended a wonderful event at Northern Manor multi care , Nanuet, New York. Yes, there was a great entertainer singing songs that were familiar to both young and old. A lot of the residents and employees were dancing. They had many tasty treats that were served by the staff that looked like waiters and waitresses. If there were a 0 stars that would be what I would choose. My 94 yr old mother was placed here for rehab for a couple weeks and it was the scariest most heartbreaking thing to leave her in an old, run down place that we didn't feel safe leaving her but we had no choice. The day we had her transferred from the hospital, we were told we had to take a covid test at the front desk (we thought this was great) but it was scary to see signs everywhere about a previous covid outbreak they had. Then the guy at the desk just pointed in the direction of her room and that was it. There was no one to greet her or the family. The EMTs that transported her, although they were very nice, they did their job, shifted her from the gurney to the bed in a raggedy room. No one from the Nursing Home/Rehab was there to greet us or tell us what to expect. We were left to fend for ourselves. The room she was in was shared with a roommate, separated only by a curtain like a hospital room. The dressers were old, falling apart, the room shares a bathroom with another room so 4 people use it and there are no locks on the bathroom door on either side. There are no lysol wipes or anything to wipe down the seat after use. The first night was awful, we stayed for a while to make sure she got settled and quickly found out that they do not come when you ring for the nurse. My mother is blatantly flagged as FALL RISK, but NO ONE comes when she calls. In fact, when she did call the next day she was told by several different aides that they cant touch her because they will get sued. So, my mother was forced to get herself out of bed to use the bathroom or pee on herself. This was inhumane. She is thankfully able to get herself up but again - She is a FALL RISK - so she shouldnt without an aide. No one seemed to care. The next morning when my mother went to the bathroom there was a puss like substance on the toilet seat. (which is exactly why they need lysol wipes) She said the food was awful, and that they rarely checked on her at all. We had to call my mother every day several times a day to ensure that she was okay because we were afraid she would fall or get hurt. I wouldnt leave my dog at this place. Please DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE. read more

This place should be shut down ASAP. But where would all the unwanted elderly go?? My husband was supposed to get better there but the place is not geared towards helping people but barely keeping them alive. He almost died there twice!! He was on oxygen and his tank was empty and no one responded to him!! Thank God, he called 911. He had wounds and maggots were found in his wound from the flies in the place. He would improve in the hospital and then be returned for a short time and then get so sick from lack of care and be admitted again. He died at the age of 70. My father was moved here after having surgery on his cervical spine, and given a tracheotomy and a peg tube. He was bed bound, had very limited strength/mobility in his limbs. The rehab seemed good; he made progress and gained a little more strength and mobility. The trach and peg tube were removed after two months. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. I always ask my dad how he feels about the care, his feelings are generally positive/thinks the place is decent (he is uncomplaining by nature too). He complains that some of the aides are a little rough when changing him. Cons: I have never gotten through to a nurse when I call. The food is really bad. My biggest grievance is that visiting/COVID policies are not what I wish they were- I see front desk staff unmasked all the time. You have to show recent proof of a negative COVID test to enter (or take a rapid test right there). Other hospitals don't allow visitors without proof of vaccination, which I prefer. read more

Please avoid Northern Manor at all costs. My wife went into a coma and was needed to have a lot of care, when she first arrived they were pleasant and easy to talk to. I was scared and had no idea of what to do, and for the most part was left on my own. I was not given information that would have helped with future decisions, medical records were not transferred to or from Northern Manor, to or from hospitals that were rendering care. I was under a lot of stress and was unaware of what was needed to be done or how things would proceed. One piece of information I received from my wife's first social worker briefly mentioned "Spousal Refusal" to help with long term care, I believed my insurance would be sufficient to care for her needs. My wife got sick after a couple days and needed to be transferred back to the hospital and stayed there for a couple of weeks while they were waiting for medical records to be transferred from the previous hospital or Northern Manor. When my wife stabilized, after I had to hand carry her medical records to the hospital as neither the previous hospital nor Northern Manor were able or willing to send them to the current hospital rendering care, they processed her as a new arrival and that caused a new billing from my insurance and thus a new copay. After a time, I received a call from Northern Manor that my insurance company was requesting a "Peer Review", which I was later was informed required a medical professional from Northern Manor to contact a medical professional from my insurance company to verify that care was still required. Northern Manor made multiple attempts to have me contact the insurance company who, after I informed them she was in a coma and required assistance I was not able to provide as she had a feeding tube and a tracheostomy, said everything was done on my end and Northern Manor should reach out to them if they have any questions, which Northern Manor blatantly refused to do. I also briefly inquired on the process they had brought up when she first arrived, as I couldn't recall the name of the "Spousal Refusal" at the time. They told me they had no information on anything that could help me with this. The person I was talking to from Northern Manor was either fired or had quit, and when I discussed what was going on with her replacement, she was able to help me get started on the Spousal Refusal application. My wife had a few issues here and there, however I received very little information on a few times when she had an infection and required to be sent to the hospital, at one point the hospital had called me to let me know she was there, even though Northern Manor had transferred her neglecting to inform me. After almost a year of her being in a nearly to non-responsive state my wife took her last breath, they informed me about this, I immediately started calling family to let them know. My wife's mother and father started up from Delaware as soon as they could as this was not directly expected. I arrived at Northern Manor as soon as I was able to as I am an hour away myself. After visiting her to say goodbye, I informed Northern Manor that my wife's parents were on there way to see her, I made arrangements with the funeral home to pick her up after they had a chance to say their goodbyes, the nurses at Northern Manor and the funeral home had talked on the phone and agreed that this would be possible. I returned home to rest so that I would be able to help my in-laws with their arrangements when they arrived. I received a phone call from Northern Manor insisting I have the funeral home pick her up immediately and she continually iterated that they do not contact them despite what they had told me previously. I told them I would call the funeral home and arrange for pick up. The same lady from Northern Manor called me three additional times while I was on the phone with the funeral home. When I had arranged for immediate pickup I called Northern Manor back and let the lady know how unprofessional it is the way she is behaving while I was calling the funeral home as she had requested while I was in mourning. I gave her the contact information again for the funeral home and I guess she also had gotten rude with their representative. Luckily my in-laws arrived just before the funeral home was able to pick up her remains, which they were rushed through their visit. Please, if you have any options, do not use Northern Manor for long term care. There are some truly caring professionals that work there, but from what I can see they have horrid policies and people that are in charge of care at Northern Manor are definitely not compassionate nor professional. read more

My mother in law was a long term care resident here. On times we visited the staff was courteous and helpful. Everyone seemed kind and friendly to my mother in law and genuinely concerned about her well being. The business office gave us good advice and were accommodating and helpful also. We were grateful for the staffs' caring attitude. My only suggestion is pay the staff a higher wage. They work hard to feed, clean, bathe, and care for the residents, something family members are unable to do themselves. My other suggestion is to modernize and rennovate the building which is looking shabby. read more

I always found the hallways to smell like urine, and the facilities didn't always look clean. My father recently passed away and we went to the nursing home so someone can explain what happened and the Director of Nursing was extremely rude and standoffish with us. She was defensive because we were asking questions as if we didn't have a right to know what exactly happened to OUR FATHER who died in THEIR CARE! They refused to autopsy the body claiming my father had underlying health issues. That's besides the point and we want answers. The rude lady's name was Annette Fearon . Why they make you place a star for a HELLHOLE like this should never be. This place should be CONDEMNED!!!!!!! The love of my life was placed here and because of it he will not survive his cancer. He had cancerous tumors removed from his spine and was sent here for rehab before going for chemo at Sloan. I blame it squarely on this place. He was supposed to have his surgical staples removed there shortly after being moved there and they delayed it by almost 5 days!! We had to harass them just to get a doctor or nurse practitioner to come in to do it. By then he had a fever because of the delay causing an infection. Two precious, critical weeks of his life without anything being done except putting phentanol patches on him and neglecting him. He was stuck in this RAT HOLE for 2 weeks for rehabilitation-and they did NOTHING, no real therapy on him but bend his legs in bed- never once got him sitting up or out of bed to try and walk. It was filthy, the staff "attending" him did absolutely ZERO, they actually complained that he was too far down the hall to get to him if he needed pain medicine!! You could find better food in a dumpster. Heartless, incompetent, lazy nurses. His sister found 2 workers sleeping in chairs out in the hall at 3pm when they should have been helping these poor patients. We have pictures to prove it. Even the woman at the front desk we caught dozing off!! Anytime I or anyone called to check on him we were hung up on. I wish I could say I was exaggerating about any of this but no. It took the 2 weeks to get an actual doctor to come and see him and he was so disgusted by what he saw he called an ambulance and got him rushed to an emergency room. Tragically, because of their negligence his chemo was delayed and now the cancer is too far spread to be treated. Animals are treated better. Our future together is destroyed because of this place. I am currently a patient at Northern Manor in Nanuet New York. I have been waiting over one hour after I rang the bell informing staff that I needed assistance. I placed a call through an outside line to the third floor nursing station, but the call was not taken. I called the facilities administrator to tell him of the situation, he promised me that he would look into it and get back to me. That was 30 minutes ago. Thank God I am not having a true medical emergency. As a double amputee, I require assistance and I have been waiting patiently. Please do not send any of your love ones here. Most of the workers do not actually care about your love ones, they are often neglected and just left to rot. They are given nothing to do all day but of course workers will lie to you and say otherwise etc. no visitation allowed because they are constantly understaffed. Worst place! I called today because my mom is being transferred there by a terrible misunderstanding. The admissions person Vanessa is super rude and that is the first person I was directed to contact. Can you imagine!!! The place smells and dirty laundry is all over the hallways. I really need to vent about incompetent care and lack of concern for patient well being. I picked up my mother from Northern Manor for the end of her respite stay. Usually when someone goes in for respite they are put in a rehab area or a room with a patient where they can be comfortable. When I dropped her off they had put her in a room with a screamer. I told them they had to move her. They told me that the lady just got her meds and usually stops screaming in a couple of hours. I told them that was not acceptable and the room needed to be changed. They told me they would probably move the roommate. I called and spoke with Henry an administrator and told him room needed to be changed. Also I called her case worker and told him to make sure her room was changed. Respite is necessary for the caregiver, me, to continue to do what I am doing. I called to check on her several times but needed me time so I didn't visit. So I get there tonight and the screamer was there the whole time. I said something to the nurse who I had spoken with previously and she didn't care. The administrator was in a meeting so I was led to the meeting as it was for families to complain. I wanted my complaint public not private so I told the room the complaint and that I videoed it without the patient's face. The administrator's response was am I trying to make fun of that patient. I was outraged and let him know that was furthest from the truth. I wanted them and everyone to hear what they subjected someone to. That patient could not control her screaming but they could control who her roommate is. The administrator is Henry Heinemann. In my opinion, an incompetent and uncaring ass!! What's an acceptable amount of time one needs to wait for a response after pressing a call bell for help. Five, ten, fifteen minutes? How about thirty minutes to an hour? If you answered less than any of the times I've listed, never come here. Over an hour and counting today and many other days I've visited. For the most part some very nice people here, and some others. The 30 or so minutes of physical therapy a day to get one back on their feet is not enough. The social, media, mental, therapy lady was fantastic. Food is like high school cafeteria ca.1950's. we were bringing in outside food. If they feel one is not progressing fast enough, You are out. The only reason we were here is that they do transportation to radiation. Otherwise... Smells in the hallways were not good. This is the only place we went to and my heart goes out to all the patients and the good people working there. read more

This facility is both dirty and inconsiderate to the wellbeing of their patients/families. My grandfather had lived there for some months and we visited him everyday. Each time, we were met with rude staff (with the exception of a few) and extremely disgusting, below par living conditions. I really wonder how they would've treated my grandfather if we didn't visit him everyday. Unfortunately, my grandfather passed away in their facility on June 11, 2020. They offered us no more information about his death besides the fact that a staff member brought him to the bathroom and when that person returned, they found my grandfather unresponsive on the floor. He shouldn't have been in the bathroom alone in the first place since he was unable to get up off his wheelchair on his own strength. At one point, the staff used higher lift to move him. When I, with my mom, went to the nursing home the following day for the series of events that led to my grandfather's death, Annette Fearon , the woman who spoke to us, met us with a bad attitude. BEFORE we even greeted her. She rolled her eyes, made faces and treated us like we were dumb. This is THE DAY AFTER my grandfather had just died and we had no prior communication with her. There should be a level of respect and sympathy for a grieving family. Especially since he passed in THEIR "care." We weren't even able to see him for three months because of COVID-19. All we had were inconsistent FaceTime calls from the staff IF they remembered. If you have the choice, DO NOT let your family members stay here. My family and I are currently working with the state and filing a neglect claim on behalf of my grandfather's death. I wish someone had told us the truth about this facility and we are doing everything we can to help future families of those who have loved ones that require nursing home care. No one should have to go through what we went through and are going through at the hands of Northern Manor Multicare Center in Nanuet, NY. read more

This place is a horrible place to work. They can write you up and suspend people based on a fabricated story that the boss claim took place out of the work zone , while I was off duty, while I was in my car. Is a boss even allowed to approach a worker from their car without a delegate and write them up. The administrator does not respect females. He ignores and disregards everything a female has to say and does not treat females fairly. He based his decision on a past write then what really happened. He also does not conduct proper investigations towards any matter. He also deferred my present character, condemning me stating that the past write up is evidence. This job takes 1 month to give me my raise and then after they gave me a raise had the manager harass me and threaten to write me up because of other people's work. The FSD is unprofessional he makes unwanted gestures to females stating, " I am going to ride you" and "you are a very attractive female. In addition, he threatens a sickly female to work beyond what she is capable of , resulting in her crying. Also, This place has no compassion towards employees with sickly family members and write people up for calling out sick do to it. It is a evil place to work at and it is all about money and they treat their workers terrible. They also plan to remove soup and bread from the residence to save money and give them broth mean while they are paying for their service. People should not benefit from people in a nursing home because they end up wanting to save more money and give residence the bare minimum and it isn't right. read more

There seems to be a culture of either incompetence or just plain lack of interest in doing what's right. It starts from the top down. Wonderful place as a whole, there are some staff who care genuinely more than others. I have to praise the recreation part of the faculty because they have to be the most caring part of the building. They try to make the residents feel at home. The rehab is also great but there are some staff who can be a snob at times. There are 2 or 3 recreation staff members that have been working for a couple years now that are absolutely fabulous. They know what they are doing and how to take care of residents like they are family. One member I must praise is Patty Martin. She is the director of Rec and she is perfect for this job. She is not only coming to work to get paid but because she loves seeing her residents. Great place! read more

This is the worst facility and staff I have ever seen. My great aunt has been there a little over a year. In that year, she was "pinched" by an aide, which prompted an investigation and led to a termination. Supposedly, they let her go and rehired her two weeks later. We never heard the outcome of the Attorney general investigation. We have pictures of bruising on her arms and legs, along with pictures of aides sleeping on the job. We tried to move her to another home back in April but there were no open beds in another facility. We had a family illness from May through September in which we weren't able to visit my aunt like we normally would. My aunt then started to decline in health, and since we weren't able to see her for a few months due to another family member illness, I guess they thought it was okay to neglect my aunt. A nurse had called and said she had a "touch of pneumonia", but not too bad. We went there to find her in pure agony. This is outright neglect on the staff's part. She was feverish, in pain, and coughing horrendously. Instead of having her elevated in bed, they had her laying straight flat on a bed with an oxygen tank on very low. There was no nurse checking on her, and no button or alarm if she did have a breathing issue or coughing attack. My aunt suffers from dementia, so she cannot always speak for herself, which is why we trusted in a nursing home to care for her. Once we saw my aunt's condition, we immediately demanded she be transferred to the hospital. The staff at the hospital said she was severely dehydrated and her mouth was horrible due to poor hygiene from the facility's lack of care. They also informed us this isn't the first case they have seen from this same facility for poor patient care. We will not be sending my aunt back to this facility and will be alerting the Senator along with the state governing board on this facility's lack of care for patients. The way they treated my aunt is inhumane, and nobody deserves that kind of treatment. They should be investigated and thoroughly checked. read more
