The friedwald center was great with the physical therapy Joanne excellent care OT was right. They didn't really do a lot. I'm doing much better now that I am when I get physical therapy strengthening when I got out, nevertheless, Joanne made me feel like I was home that the people were really nice I was in there for a long time 10 months long time, but I survived .. out on my own, which is great ,thankful blessed, and grateful,, thank you for everything and everybody that helped me, God bless. Crude approach with sales to gain NURSING HOME Patients as the director and Human resource Fernanda call the innocent patients here IT is to be a Rehab center, not a place for " OLD SENIORS" Which is discriminatory. Adam has NO amount of caring for the patients here, it is all disgustingly about money and his DON follows suite. In My consulting there are far superior places to receive care AGE is a Gift and this unprofessional place discriminates against that They are trying to hire SALES Reps that can unethically get " the business " for them They call themselves Family Run There is NOTHING family about this place It is tragic that the advertise Vent and Dialysis yet fail to have adequately trained Staff to provide such services. The relatives that run this abode do not care about the innocent patients that are sent here .. they do not care about diagnosis or clinical outcomes. they care about making their family money .. and the unethical approch to gaining patients needs to be corrected ONE walk via their door lets all know the poor care the inexperience ownership. and YES I am protected to write this without fearing retaliation from the Administrator and his tribe. read more

Would not recommend. The quality of care is horrible and if you are a diabetic your blood sugar levels will escalate. The food menu is not for a diabetic. They aren't checked. My relative's blood sugar was 350. He was incoherent and knew something was wrong. No one checked on him. You must advocate for the patient or they will be left alone. The patient is made to wear diapers even if they don't need them. No physical therapy was given for 3 weeks when the physician stated it should be started in 2 days. Plan a funeral if pick this place. read more

My Father arrived here June 8 for rehab and winded up back in the hospital June 24 and diagnosed with osteomyelitis which he got under their care!! He died July 7. Stay away from this place. read more

My review specifically speaks to the "service" provided by the Aides in the sub-acute rehab. I watched my grandmother suffer in pain for almost an hour before anyone responded to her needs. She had been sitting in her wheelchair for several hours after rehab and started feeling pain from the bedsores she has on her buttocks and lower torso. She simply wanted to be helped into bed!! We pushed the call button and were told "someone would be in shortly". No one came in the room to help. After waiting for ~20 minutes we pushed the call button a second time, and this time, we were yelled at by an Aide in the hall who said she was busy and we would have to wait. After ANOTHER 20 minutes of NO response, I tried to move my grandmother to the bed myself to give her some relief but I was not strong enough and didn't want to inadvertently disconnect any tubes (she is on a feeding tube and oxygen). Finally, after about 45 minutes from when the initial request was placed (4:55 - 5:45), an angry woman entered the room - she was not wearing a badge/name tag - and did not identify herself. When I asked for her name she refused to tell me, then proceeded to yell obscenities at me and complained that they were "under-staffed". Then she told me I had to leave the room. Fear came over my poor grandmother's face. I said absolutely not. The Aide was clearly angry and annoyed with her situation so I demanded to stay in the room to ensure my grandmother did not bear the brunt of this behavior. After the Aide stormed out, the Nurse on duty entered the room to apologize to us for the Aide's behavior and said she would talk to her. My grandmother didn't want me to file a report against the Aide for fear of retaliation. (So sad.) Friedwald - HOW DARE YOU allow your Aides to bully and intimidate the elderly. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. I shudder at the thought of what goes on when we are not there. It is completely unacceptable for an elderly woman to sit in pain for almost an hour because you did not staff appropriately. Furthermore, it is completely unacceptable for an Aide to not identify herself and use fowl language. I know that finding a facility approved by insurance can be a real struggle, but if you have a choice of Rehab Centers, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. If you are stuck with Friedwald, be sure to keep an eye on the care of your loved one and don't allow these people to push you around. Like the other review, I too will be filing a complaint with the State. read more

I visited my grandmother and grandfather last month during COVID through a window while I sat outside. It was unfortunate, but I understood it was necessary for their safety when I was initially told this would be the case. I was DISGUSTED to discover that while I was forced to speak to them through the glass like prisoners, there were several aids/workers inside with the residents that WERE NOT WEARING MASKS. Absolutely unacceptable, and I'm sure this is why there have been many outbreaks at the facility just about every month during this pandemic. The hypocrisy aside, the management should be held responsible for both of my grandparents contracting Covid along with any other resident that also suffered. It is unacceptable to allow personal beliefs (religious, political, etc) to supersede basic safety measures. Wear a damn mask and practice social distancing when possible, especially with the elderly/vulnerable. read more

If you love your family you would never subject them to this terrible place. This is hell on earth!! My grandmother passed away due to their LACK OF CARE. She got septic because they didn't properly clean her and she got an infection in her blood. This was painful for my grandmother and an agonizing way to pass. This was hard on my entire family. They stole her wedding band and her gold cross, then they preyed on my grandfather who has dementia. They convinced him to pay a supposed outside company $10,000 to file paperwork to separate out his assets from my grandmother so they wouldn't be financially responsible for the medical costs incurred while she was staying at their AWFUL facility. Then when my grandmother passed they claimed the paperwork hadn't been filled and that my grandfather was responsible for a $32,000 bill! This story doesn't end here unfortunately but I hope this gets the point across. If you have a loved one here, I urge you to take the time and find a better place for your loved one. A crooked establishment like this should not be in business and the empties of this establishment, week have threatened by grandfather should be jailed for their unlawful behavior! read more

Approximately 2 months ago my mother entered Friedwald with a severe shoulder fracture From a bad fall, and a somewhat broken spirit. Today, thanks to the fine medical team, at the age of 85, she is back living in her apartment with a fully recovered shoulder and in excellent spirits. On behalf of my mother, I would like to express my gratitude and admiration for the high standards of professionalism and compassion demonstrated by everyone at Friedwald. My sister was 57 years old and suffered from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and on a ventilator. That being said, she was bedridden. She was in and out of Friedwald and local hospitals several times during the summer of 2019 before she passed away. Some aspects of the care she received in the subacute care section was subpar. There was one nurse in particular who was very nasty to my sister, cursing at her, telling her when she went to the hospital she wasn't coming back (meaning she was going to die), having another nurse come into my sister's room with her to intimidate my sister not to anything to anyone about them. Upon lodging our complaints, we were told that this is just that nurse's personality, that she talks like that to everyone. The facility was okay with her treating the patients that way so they were not going to reprimand her in any fashion. We had to ask several times that this nurse not be allowed to take care of my sister because of the way she treated her and the anxiety and fear she instilled in my sister. My sister had no way of defending herself against anyone if they wanted to get physical with her. She kept a sign with her on her bed with her husband's telephone number on it (because it was difficult for her to speak being on the ventilator) so if she felt threatened, she could have someone call him when he wasn't there. My suggestion is to keep a very close eye on your family members in this facility if they have to be there. Someone tried to stay with her as much as possible to make sure that her physical needs and ventilator needs (her ventilator tube would pop off and the ventilator alarm would go off. There were times no one would respond very quickly and she struggled to breathe) were properly and timely tended to. At least if we were there, we could put the ventilator hose back on and suction the mucous from her mouth if she needed it. Keep a close eye on their physical wellness, mental wellness and if they exhibit any fear...there may be a valid reason for it. I don't care how "good" a nurse may be, to instill fear, anxiety and curse out any patient, regardless of their physical or mental status, is reprehensible. read more

I spent about 7 weeks as a resident at the Friedwald Rehabilitation Center following a complex surgery. The staff was outstanding. In particular, the certified nursing assistants were friendly, helpful, and always encouraging, as were the RNs and other staff. The physical therapy and occupational therapy staff was incredible. Despite my complex medical condition, I was able to make important improvements with their skilled support. I would not have succeeded without their professionalism, humor, and ability to know how to challenge me. What really separates this facility from other medical facilities (I have a clinical background and have worked in many medical settings for more than 40 years across the country) is the culture. It starts at the top, but is felt everywhere among the personnel. They pride themselves in thinking outside of the box - they decide what is best for the patient and then look for ways to achieve the needed result, often taking innovative approaches that cost more for the facility, such as buying equipment that meets the unique needs of the individual patient (I experienced this while there and know of other examples as well). The staff have fun as they work, are quick to help each other and patients who are not their direct assignments, and humor is used (appropriately) constantly. It is an upbeat place, which was a blessing given that we (the patients) would, of course, rather be at home. The positive environment and culture that I experienced there is rare in medical facilities in my experience. Prior to my surgery, I did not anticipate being in a subacute rehabilitation facility, but feel exceedingly lucky that I ended up in the Friedwald Center. I have never done a Yelp review in the past, but wanted to share my experience with others who may need a rehabilitation faciilty. I give Friedwald Rehabilitation Center my absolute strongest recommendation for anyone who needs the types of services it provides. read more
