Knew names of 2 nurses that stood out for their professionalism and care : Edguardo (4th floor)and Renee(3rd floor) RN Joanne appeared to act better than the others but was actually the worst - spoke to visitors with an attitude. She took away from the decent image I took Sky View for. CNAs did the best they could with the staff that they had each day. Seemed to exhibit comradeship. Food was well prepared -- Dining Room staff is scarce. Took nearly 1 1/2hrs to have 80+ y.o wait for their full lunch. Have entertainment/patio BBQs/ "gardening" using an elevated window box - holiday parties(those are actually impressive and memorable to spend with your loved one) Won't say I wouldn't recommend, but like ANY Nursing Home, yes it's a Nursing Home, you have to do your homework and be ahead in the know at all times with what occurs.

Their programming is. engaging and very positive. Sheree and Serena do an amazing job and our father just loves them both! The doctors at Artis have changed his medications and he has regained quite a bit of autonomy. They really seem to understand the aging process and how to best support independence. The best is that our father is happy! He has friends and he loves to be with them. Artis embraces the members families and welcomes the families to be as involved as possible. We find this refreshing and we go to visit almost every day! We are very grateful everyday for Artis.

There is a hefty fee for an independent living apt and a large upfront medical fee as well, but you are guaranteed an assisted living apt, rehab and nursing home care as well as a section for mental decline if you ever need any if these services for the same monthly fee you pay for the independent living apt. In the long run the initial expense is worth it. Kendal itself is wonderful. People greet you when you are in the common areas and staff members are as nice as the residents. The activities which are resident conceived and run are varied. Many intellectual offerings ranging from book clubs, interesting lectures, concerts and opera films. There are craft rooms which the residents run as well and an indoor pool,,o physical therapy and rehab. I live here and love it.

Due to several upsetting incidents, we asked about placing a camera in their room. We were informed cameras were NOT permitted by Kendal on Hudson (except in independent living). After our loved one passed away, our family arrived to clear out their room in the Sunnyside section and were shocked to find it had been left unlocked since our loved one had been taken into the hospital. Upon entering the room it was obvious many items were missing. We informed the administrator and were treated terribly. Ultimately, the incident was reported to the police. It was an awful time for our family, made so much worse by the treatment we received, and the complete lack of accountability or responsibility for protecting our loved one's property. Kendal's policy of no cameras throughout areas of the care sections, including residents' rooms, allowed them to completely control the narrative. This really made us question some of our earlier concerns. I wish we had a better experience because our loved one sold their family home to enter this facility. Unless Kendal on Hudson has changed their policy, I would suggest you consider a facility with a camera-friendly policy, as it's often the only witness these vulnerable residents have.

She lived in a large studio apartment that was great for her. She was able to keep her beloved dog, Nelson, at the assisted BWL at Mahwah. That was a great comfort. My mother was also on a lot of medications and the wellness center was able to manage her medications perfectly. The senior administrator, Mariolla. was so helpful to our family during my mom's stay at Brandywine as well as when I had to clean out the apartment due to my mother's passing. Unfortunately Social Work fell for Matthews sales pitch and contracted with Sunshine. Matthew repeatability and consistently reported back to Social Work that they were waiting for initial authorization from NYS Medicaid- this continued for over 30 days- When no progress was made in hiring a Nurse- Social Work contacted Medicaid directly and SUNSHINE Homecare Services HAD NEVER EVER SUBMITTED the claim for authorization!!!!!! MY SONS DISCHARGE WAS DELAYED 30 DAYS because Matthew and the company are full of S__it!!! DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY!!!! DIO NOT WORK FOR THESE A---holes!!!!!

Lucy has been more than accommodating by helping to make my mother in law feel welcome and settled in . She has updated our family with daily texts , pictures etc . She has eased our minds( my husband and his 2 siblings ) and is very approachable. We had concerns since we made the decision to make the move and Lucy helped to ease our minds and nerves . She is very hard working , has a wonderful disposition and shows love and patience to not only my MIL but all the residents . We visit often and thanks to Lucy and her staff we are very pleased with the move to Thrive!
