Finding GOOD orchards with friendly people, amazing produce and excellent prices is a blessing. The folks here always have a smile and are willing to help - whether you want to pick yourself or just grab a flat of tasty fruit. Selection can be hit-and-miss depending on the season and growing conditions. But, what they do have is always top quality. We grabbed a couple bags of freshly-picked cherries; one bag of Chelan (dark) and one bag of Rainier. Brought them home, de-pitted them and canned - all the while trying hard not to "sample." There was enough leftover from the excess of canning to allow one bowl of goodness each. Incredibly sweet with a nice, firm texture. So, while we have a greenhouse and (small) orchard of our own, we'll be coming back, often, to Columbia View as the season continues.

We were greeted with so much kindness and a hearty welcome by the owners, their staff, and the resident doggos! Friday night offered a festive happy hour with plenty of people sharing good vibes. After our tastings, we came away with multiple bottles of wine and a jar of fresh garlic herbs. I recommend the Aurore and Ancient Secrets Foch. It was a privilege to have tasty treats and dip that Victory made herself and the stories told by Loyalty will be cherished. The easy elevation walk down to the gorgeous Columbia River was less than 300 steps. We took our beach chairs and visited that scene that was so peaceful. Arlie the owner is one of the kindest gentlemen I have met in my life, We were humbled when he offered to do our laundry for free, and shared stories and experiences he collected throughout the decades he had been running the place. Beautiful artwork and authentic old furniture is part of the ambience of this wonderful place. There are shared bathrooms that are also kept in spotless condition. I was wondering what kind of motel would be in that area and we were recommended to the Circle Motel. It didn't look that great from the outside but the rooms are comfortable (including the bed and decor) and the owner is friendly and helpful. If we are ever in the area again, we would definitely stay.
