Went today to buy milkshakes, and noticed one of the teens there had shorts and tank top on, the floor in there is higher so when standing outside we could both her butt cheeks hanging out, and her entire bras strap with clip in the back hanging out, tank top was below it. completely in appropriate, not at all a family place youd want to bring your kids, with the way they allow their employees to dress. our milkshakes were chocolate and mine was good but my friends had a really off and terrible after taste. I love this place! Cute little building with delicious ice cream and every sprinkle you can imagine! We drove an extra 20 minutes to come here because they have BUTTERSCOTCH!! Its so hard to find a good BUTTERSCOTCH topping! The workers here are very friendly. My husband and I both had butterscotch sundae with the works. I unfortunately lost my cherry on the ground but it was still delicious! No pictures because I was overexcited lol. Prices are very reasonable, too! read more

I've been going to the Northfield Creamie since the mid 1960s when the Repeatas owned it. It's been a staple of Northfield life since the 50s. It has quite a following with folks visiting from Keene, Brattleboro and Amherst and more. It's known for the best soft serve around. They have always served a high quality product. The Bowens and their staff are always smiling and friendly which is refreshing as much as the ice cream! It's always like a social gathering because most likely you'll run into someone you will know. I'll give it 5 out of 5 Golden Scoops! Ohh and the Maple Milkshake......amazing! read more

A friend recommended this ice cream place and we never turn down a new ice cream shop. It was a dreary day, but this place made it feel sunny as we all enjoyed the various flavors we ordered. Ice cream brands are from various "local" ice cream companies (new to us). Ice cream sundae was excellent. We are looking to returning and trying new flavors. Service was quick and friendly. This little store is a gem. The people who own and run it are the best. It is the "third place" in town. Not your home or place of work, it's where people gather in the warmer months to hang out, catch up with the neighbors and have some great ice cream with grass, picnic tables and room for the kids to play. Northfield Creamie is a gem nestled into the Connecticut River Valley. Its on a quaint Main St with lots of grass and trees surrounded by old, well kept homes and neighboring farms. The ice cream is spectacular with a large menu to choose from. We have tried many items and have never been disappointed. They also have some of the best soft serve we've ever had. Between that and their frozen yogurt our kids are always happy. They have a grassy area next to the shop with tables where you can sit and enjoy your treats. Hula hoops are plentiful and good for entertaining young ones. If you happen to be there on a weekend they have live music and other activities so it's a great spot for families. read more

Cute little chairs and tables to sit at - sometimes you can catch a local playing guitar nearby. Open late until 9pm - they are closed on certain days so you need to know there schedule. Best time is the late evening when all the buses of kids have already passed through around 5pm. There can be a long line if you time it wrong. read more

Hands down one of the best ice cream places I have ever been to! The black raspberry chocolate chip frozen yogurt is to die for as well as their homemade waffle cones! Only one tiny complaint that I can live with: I heard they put a few M&M's at the bottom of the cones and I was sad to see that they did for me both times. We are frequent customers (like today--90 degrees) and run a neighboring business where we send everyone to the Creamie in the evening on warm summer nights--it's a peaceful five-minute stroll down the street. This weekend, a guest who went there on our recommendation had the nicest things to say about the ice cream, yes, but moreover, she picked up on the atmosphere that Tim and Mary have created there. The delicious concoctions, the decor, the music that's playing, the super friendly, ice cream scoopin' owner. It all works. Tim is a gentle soul whose spirit infuses every aspect. Creating an atmosphere is really hard at a walk-up ice cream business, but he does it. People talk about communities needing a third place--your first place is your home, the second is where you work, and the "third place" is where people can meet up and catch up and feel part of something, even if you grab your cone or dish and go. In the warmer months, the Creamie is one of the closest things to a "third place" and "first class" in Northfield. read more
