Stoked Yelp pointed me in the direction of The Country Creemee. Simple little shop with quite good soft serve. A kiddie size was perfect and reasonably priced. Service was friendly if not speedy. One lady, she looked a little old and had some eyeshadow on rolled her eyes at me when I asked for some more sprinkles. BTW there was a whole bucket full of sprinkles and I had probably 1 spoon full of sprinkles. After she rolled her eyes she took a heavy breather and mumbled something under her breath. The rudest person and some staff, no people skills the prices have just skyrocketed and if you stop a hour it half hour before closing theyll just send you away because they can't understand what posted hours are! I actually live in Turners Falls and I am a big fan of the Country Creemee. As you would expect from an ice cream stand, the ice cream is great as are their presentations. The servings are very large and delicious. But what really impresses me is the food. It is terrific. Interesting fare and so well prepared. And the owner and her staff are always helpful and very nice to me. All in all, it is a great place and a stop for all my out of town visitors. The only thing I do not like is that they are closed for the winter. But they are worth waiting for until they reopen in the spring. They are great. read more

Waited all day to get something after work because they're open until 7pm. Says online that the place is open and open until 7pm. I went there today 9/25 at 4pm and its closed. Real nice! Their posted hours say they are open until 8 pm. We arrived at 7:48 and were very RUDELY told that they were closed. They were not at all apologetic for closing early. In fact, the man who spoke to us was snarky. We will not be returning, and I suggest that you do not waste your time trying to spend your money at an establishment who cannot be bothered to maintain their posted hours, nor to be courteous when they cannot. read more

Come here for the ridiculously generous roast beef sub and the delicious mocha milkshake, not for the friendliness. Service was fast efficient, and borderline sullen. The woman who sat at the register looked and acted like she would have rather been any place but where she was, and made me feel like I was an imposition. Delightful re-use of an old bank - as a fan of such places I'd probably give it three stars just based on the great venue, but the ice cream was delicious. We couldn't determine the origin of the ice cream and the staff were a little rushed with a trainee when we were there, so we didn't press. We appreciate the outdoor seating and proximity to the new Mystic Pinball and the adjacent visitor's center near the river. Parking may or may not be an issue depending on when you visit. read more

Never in my life experienced such rude behavior from an establishment. It's insane and clearly I'm not the only one. You'd think after hundreds of reviews about this (check out Google reviews) they would start trying to be a little more polite. We spend at least $20 bucks a week in here between my little one and my teenager and her friends and their entire tennis team. If my daughter has one more bad experience with the nasty woman at the counter I'm going to come down and settle it. Being nasty to a child is unacceptable. We spend our hard earned money here, lose the nasty attitude and practice the manners we all learned in kindergarten!!! If you're that miserable, maybe this isn't the job for ya! read more

Yesterday we tried out The Country Creemee after hearing about this location from some friends who grew up in Greenfield. I have to say that the praise they had for this ice cream stand was spot on and we are happy we found this little shop. When we arrived the place was packed and we had to wait a bit but we were lucky because it only got busier. The staff here was fairly nice but a bit short because of the rush. When it came time to order we didn't know what to expect so I bought a two scoop no sugar added vanilla while my wife bought a brownie sundae. When both items came out we were floored. They were both gigantic and my wife's sundae made it to our freezer for later. The taste was great and it actually didn't melt quickly like some other shops in the area. Overall, a great place to grab a cone and we hope to try their food soon. The only minor critique was that standing in line between cars to order was a bit awkward with people trying to park. read more

Having been forced out of its old location by an Evil Company (the saga playing out in the local newspapers), CC serendipitously moved into the old Twisters place on Avenue A in downtown Turners, and opened for the season several days ago. Off of the first visit, my feelings are mixed, and while I dislike downgrading my rating, this is no longer a 4-star experience without some changes. First off, the menu's a good bit smaller, and it's not as if their footprint is *smaller*, far from it, so I'm at a loss there. Unfortunately, it's been paired with sizes getting smaller and the prices for ice cream being jacked from quite reasonable to quite high: I paid nearly six dollars for a malted milk shake handed to me in a 30-oz cup, and my wife five dollars for about 12 oz worth of ice cream in a cup (a/k/a = about a buck more than it'd cost to pop into Food City a few blocks down and get a freaking half-gallon of ice cream). Several menu options weren't available, which may have been first-week growing pains. Beyond that, the prices for grinders were insane: a large roast beef or tuna, for instance, topped out at $9, the highest in the area. That may have been what they were charging out by the airport (for all I recall), where they were the only game in town, but with a Subway across the street and the excellent Turners Falls Pizza House the next block over selling subs for $2 cheaper across the board, I don't foresee them peddling many of those. The quality hasn't changed, thankfully, and they *are* the only game in town for ice cream, but. Maybe they're getting crucified on rent, but I have to go with the value I have as a customer, and that's suffered significantly with the move, IMHO. read more

The Country Creamee is a must visit for anyone passing through, and is a regular stop for the locals. They have the most generous portions sizes I've ever seen, and they offer great food. Soft serve ice cream, hard, milkshakes, baked beans, grinders... You can stop in for anything! I bet you'll come again. read more

Firstly, the food and ice cream here are amazing, large portions and decent prices, and everything is of high quality for this type of establishment. This is the only reason I give The Country Creemee two stars instead of one. I have a major issue with the staff here. I have come here two or three times this spring/summer, and each time, the person who waits on me has an attitude of seeming to want to be doing anything but waiting on me. I felt like I was putting them out by being a customer. I'm not saying that I expect the staff to be bubbly and excited, but I do expect staff of any business to act at least somewhat pleased that they have business and paying customers. SUPER good ice cream, but don't come expecting friendly service. They close EXACTLY at 8. Do not arrive after 8. It's kind of hilarious how firm they are about it... we got stink-eye walking in at 7:56 tonight. One in our party who ordered first was eating his ice cream waiting for the rest of us to order; he sat down at a chair and a woman who worked there told him to leave (she was cleaning and I guess didn't want him to drip ice cream or something). They are only open half the year... you'd think they'd want the extra money because whenever we're there before closing it's packed and people get turned away! And we've been there during the day too and still unfriendly. I've been here twice. The first time I had a chocolate milk shake, and it was great, 10/10, this is where you should go for that, and I'm sure their ice cream is great too. You probably shouldn't order a grinder here though. I got their veggie one, and it consisted of about a pound of the wettest lettuce and tomato available between two pieces of low-end grocery store bread. I just moved my shop, The Domestic Darling, into Turners .My waistline wishes that we weren't just down the street from The Country Creemee. Good prices, huge servings, with all the works, or none of the works! Sometimes I feel like just a plain vanilla cone and when I buy it, it's the size of my head! Often, after a long hot hard day, I stop for the best hot fudge sundae around, often they serve it a cup for on-the-go. Each week they offer a different flavor ice cream and frozen yogurt in addition to vanilla & chocolate. It's across the street from a small airport.
