My experience with this management company was extremely disappointing. During my final month living there, management scheduled approximately 30 tours of my one-bedroom apartment. I felt that my schedule and privacy were not reasonably accommodated despite communicating availability concerns. Communication from management was often frustrating, and I did not feel that my concerns as a tenant were taken seriously. The frequent tours significantly disrupted my daily life and enjoyment of the apartment during my final weeks there. After moving out, I also experienced delays receiving my security deposit. More than 60 days passed without receiving it, and I had to repeatedly follow up with management regarding the status of the check. The process was stressful and unnecessarily drawn out. I highly recommend you don't live here is included in your rent and they don't turn it on half of winter. Their management office is also never open and they don't respond to their emails professionally when you need assistance. Overall management is never working and never in their office. They also are very unprofessional and you can honestly find better apartments to live in where they take care of their tenants and don't freeze them. read more

I currently live in one of the apartment buildings owned by northlake Management. We have an insane mouse and rat problem. It is more extreme than I have ever seen in my life and it is unsanitary and super disgusting. After throwing a rat body the size of a small cat out in the trash today I contacted the office to try to get out of my lease one month early. I know every time I contact the office I have to contact them multiple ways in order to get a response so I called the office and got screamed at by one of their office personnel Kaylee and then she hung up on me when I asked her to stop screaming at me. I'm going to contact news and media to see if there's some way I can get a story published about them so that I can get out of this. Great floor plan and size units. Laundry facilities on every floor. Well kept property with a responsive maintenance team. Parking facility for tenants a plus given the site of this complex. Many amenities within walking distance on a pet friendly & walking neighborhood. Coffee shops, C-stores, restaurants, gas stations all around this complex. Resided on this property for four great years. Northlake management also has many adjacent properties within the area. Definitely a place to highly consider calling home. read more

My daughter leased an apartment in the Baxterly. Her rent was always paid on time. the bathtub clogged up due to the extremely old plumbing. they blamed her and charged here over 300 for having a plumber in. When the tub clogged again I cleared it for her in 15 minutes. later my daughter became mentally ill and problematic so they asked her to vacate. She spent 3 weeks away in hospital. They claimed the apartment was "abandoned" since she had not been there for 3 weeks and she had lost her keys. They would not allow my wife and I reasonable access to the apartment to remove her belongings. Then they put all of he stuff in bags on the curb damaging much of it in the process. We watched as the people cleaning her apartment walked of with her TV and other of the more desirable items. When challenged they said it is trash fair game on the curb. A $ 500 air conditioner has also disappeared. This company is operated by a heartless group with no sympathy at all for an individual in need. Our daughter is now wandering the streets suffering with mental illness. REad your lease very carefully. and even then be wary becasue these folks operate outside the law. read more

I lived in Emerald Ridge and I actually really liked living there, everything was updated perfect for myself. The reason i'm giving this place 2 stars is because I made an agreement with the management company that I was able to leave my lease 3 weeks early as they were able to find new tenants and I paid for the entire month of July. I was never given back the 3 weeks of rent I paid for, which was a little over $600. I was charged $70 for a cleaning fee and $35 for broken blinds, which to me is fine I can live with that but not getting back at least $600 is a problem. I hope this could be resolved soon just a bit disappointed. By the way Becky is an amazing employee :) read more

* first time renter* My first worst apartment experience.i hated this apartment and management. they allowed maintenance to walk into my apartment (while I was here as a female that lives alone) without giving me a warning. I've had multiple mice in my apartment and I told maintenance to "patch up" some holes but they never did because I still seen mice. Our water pressure was low and water was sometimes a different color FOR MONTHS.They kept saying it was the cities fault but didn't lower the rent or anything. I wasn't even comfortable showering or drinking water from the tap. They've also had roaches and did some exterminating and I didn't see more after that. If I would've known what I know now I would've never even signed with them. DONT DO IT!!!!!! save the headache and worry read more

Northlake management is nothing but fraud. First of all, whenever you make a maintenance request, they will never respond. I made a maintenance request when I first moved in, they never ever responded. Not once I went a whole year without any response. They didn't keep track of their tenants or what was going on. They say they're pet friendly, but demand access to your apartment with no warning, and if you don't lock up your pet they call it disobeying your lease agreement. They have no respect of their agreements and don't have any respect of their tenants. read more

When I originally moved to redwood apartments north lake management were not the owners. The original owners were the best apartment management I had ever seen. They didn't allow pets at all and the communication between us was perfect. I lived there for a year under their management smooth sailing until one day we got a letter saying they were selling the property to northlake management. I thought no biggie and thought nothing of it until the whole apartment building went down hill. North lake is by far the worst management in the world! They are thief's and con artists and I am surprised they are still in business after so many lawsuits. My first run in with them was when they started allowing pets and I'm not talking one pet I'm talking 2-3 pets to one apartment suite each. My complex had at least 20 apartment suites so do the math. My upstairs neighbors had multiple dogs and children so it was very loud and disturbing. From them stumping and partying in the middle of the night. To the kids leaving the security door open all night it was a nightmare. By them leaving the door open all night gnats, flies mosquitos and rats took over the building. There was so many rats I was forced to buy a cat for $200. About 6 months later there was a leak in my living room ceiling. I told management got no response. On the 3rd day I came home from work and my whole ceiling caved in. All my glass tables and lamps were shattered. There was plaster and water all over my brand new couch, which got molded. After contacting them so many times they finally had a maintenance man come and vacuum the living room and remove plaster. About an hour after the plaster fell my legs started itching profusely but I thought it was just a mosquito bite and went to sleep. I woke up hours later and my legs had red marks all over them I realized then that either the vacuum that was used was flea or bed bug infested or either the ppl upstairs had bugs or fleas that fell from the ceiling. Remind you they had 3 dogs in a very little apartment. I as a woman had to pack as many belongings as I could at 3 in the morning and sleep at my moms house. Little did I know I would have to spend the next 6 months of my life living on friends and family members couches because they would not fix the problem. I ended up having to take them to court. They had lawyers and made false claims and told lies on me as if they didn't have a crap load of open cases from other tenants saying the same things about them. I simultaneously paid them rent for 6 months and also paid rent to live with family members so I couldn't afford a fancy lawyers like them. I had to represent myself. Therefore, the judge only granted me $1,100 and they also stole my security deposit. I would never recommend anyone to them. If you ever come into contact with them, Run!! read more

I would have given this zero stars if I could. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Management never picks up the phone. I lived in CYNWYD for almost a year and it was the worst living situation I've ever been a part of in my life. My neighbor had to unplug her refrigerator to use her microwave because the electrical wiring is so old and shotty. Management was disrespectful, didn't have heat for the first month (they told me "just open your oven"), and was never able to contact the management in a timely fashion. A pipe burst in June and it took them until mid-July to "fix" the problem by painting over the mold growing on our ceiling. The apartment hallway always smelled horrible, and the day agreed to move in on our lease, we show up and they are just starting the construction to the room. Luckily we had a place to stay for the first day so we didn't have to get a hotel. Avoid them. Terrible company. read more

Truly would not recommend. I've had problems after problems and they take forever responding to your maintenance request. I've had 2 maintenance requests that's been sitting since last month and they haven't gotten back to me about them yet. My key fob has also stopped working out of nowhere and my fridge has currently stopped working as well. My fridge and key fob are two important things that are urgent and get they won't answer my calls nor my texts. I had got locked out my apartment building in my pajamas from letting my dog use the bathroom luckly a woman had helped me inside the building. read more

All they want is money and could care less about you or your family. They say everything is done by the book however these slime balls bend every rule they can interpret to treat you like trash. They are horrible! Management never answers the phone. They're trash dumpster is disgusting it's always flowing over they never have it picked up. The building always smells and they have bed bugs. If you decide to rent from this company, make sure you document EVERYTHING in photos, emails, etc. Many of my maintenance requests were never resolved, the apartment was still having construction done to it when I was due to move in, a cleaning crew was never provided to clean up the construction mess, and I was charged $80 for a cleaning crew when I moved out. $80 to clean what, I am not sure, seeing as how I left it in better condition than I was afforded. After each review, they try to discount the reviewer instead of owning up for their horrible service and money swindling ways. The countless reviews on many sites speak for themselves. DO NOT RENT FROM NORTHLAKE UNLESS YOU LIKE SHODDY LOUD BUILDINGS AND THIEVES AS MANAGEMENT! I was a tenant for years. I stayed under the radar for the most part, but heard horror stories about management from all my neighbors. My last year there, a neighbor moved in with a large dog that barked incessantly and made half my apartment unusable. I couldn't walk past my kitchen or the dog would hear me and go apeshit. I complained to management many times, tried talking to the neighbors, Northlake wouldn't do anything. The dog bit me in the hallway one day and Northlake said they would take care of it. Then weeks later when I followed up with them they said they wouldn't do anything since I didn't call the police at the time. Obviously I would have if they told me they needed a police report, but they told me they would take care of it. It was the most depressing year of my life - having to creep around my own apartment not making any noise so I don't awaken the neighbors poor dog they lock up all day and night. Don't get me started about the endless line of people blasting their music all day at the car was next door... Finally, when it was time for me to move, they milked every penny from my security deposit that they could, claiming my apartment was dirty. I sent them pictures I took for move out and they refused to send me any "dirty" pictures or back up their claims at all. They did however go in detail about their great record with lakewood courts and insinuates that I was petty for threatening to take them to court. So in the end, they win. It's not really worth it to take them to court to get the couple hundred bucks the SLIMEBALLS stole from me. Don't let them steal from you! read more

This is the worst management company in Lakewood and probably beyond! There is no communication. I lived in a building that was managed by another company and signed a lease with another company, but Northlake Management bought the building. The leasing information was confusing and they refused to return the deposit. Despite the fact that the apartment was left empty and in good condition. Please avoid Northlake Management at all costs! I hope you do not have the displeasure of leasing from this unethical management company. They are very poor at communicating and they are non-responsive. The building was in terrible condition and they did not have adequate trash collection. The building smelled and was in obvious disrepair. Sadly, Northlake Management is purchasing more property in Lakewood and they need to be stopped. Northlake Management is the worst! Avoid them and find a better housing situation. read more

I felt that they had great communication, if I had any questions or concerns they dealt with them in a timely manner, and to my satisfaction. The property i lived in and one of theirs across the street had cockroaches, large ones over an inch long. Dozens of them littered the hallways and they wouldn't even send someone over to sweep them up. They were unwilling to work with me or move me to a clean property and I had to fight them tooth and nail at every turn. The cockroaches made my apartment unliveable. After I'd see one on my bed or scurrying on my stuff I'd be too grossed out t go back in there for days. They are never in the office, so you can't drop by to talk to them face to face. After only living there 3 weeks I moved out and had to get a lawyer to get my security deposit back. These are the best properties you could ever rent...that is if you love sharing your space with cockroaches! Seriously though, this is the most unorganized, inefficient property management company I have ever encountered. First of all, they lost my check for my deposit and first month's rent. They called demanding that I pay them $1000 (again) if I wanted to move in. Thankfully, I saved the receipt, but that was a great welcome to my new apartment. They promised excellent communication, giving us numbers that we could call or text at any time if we needed anything. Unfortunately, if I ever used these numbers, I'd be redirected to other numbers to call, after several days of awaiting replies. There were times no one would answer, so I'd try to go to the office to get ahold of someone. However, the office was never open, even during normal business hours. This wasn't terrible, except for the time that I had standing water in my sink for three days and couldn't do dishes or have clean drinking water for that long. Also, speaking of maintenance. One time the lock on my door broke, which is something you would think would be fixed right away. However, it took over a week! Funny, not so funny story about that too: I had to go out of town with my lock broken. They fixed it while I was gone, but they didn't say that they had to replace the whole lock. So I didn't know when I arrived home at midnight that I wouldn't have a key to get in! I couldn't get ahold of anyone, so I had to find a friend to stay with. But that goes back to the poor communication: if you change the key, you should probably let your tenants know in advance before you render them homeless for a night! The worst though was the cleanliness of the complex. The common areas were almost never cleaned, so the walls, floors, laundry facility and everywhere was filthy! They did not regularly take care of pests, so there was an infestation of everything: ants, swarms of gnats, ladybugs, and enormous roaches everywhere! It took calling the health department for these problems to be fixed, even though management had been notified before that happened. And one final note: my building was supposed to be smoke free. It's what I signed a lease for. However, the hallways and rooms were so filled with cigarette and weed smoke that even my suite reeked of it. When I told management, they told me there was nothing they could do about that and advised me to leave an anonymous note to the neighbors and threaten to call the police. I'd say it was a good price for rent, but I can't even say that because they would have upped the price of my rent after a year had I not moved out! And when I moved out, I was charged for damage that was there before I moved in. read more

I would like to add on to a comment from Drew H. The management company had replied about the windows. I too had to completely clean my apartment because the window company did not clean up after themselves. They also did NOT re-install the blinds. The window guy told me that I needed to put them back up myself the next day because the windows needed to settle. Which doesn't make sense because the blinds don't interfere with the window at all. Also, maintenance is horrible. My power was out once and the maintenance guy called me to say that the meter showed that my power was on. I was in my dark apartment and assured him that i had no power. He told me that he "finds that hard to believe." He pretty much called me a liar. He didn't even come up to my apartment to check it out. Even though I had looked and told him that a fuse had blown and needed to be replaced. He ignored my comment and continued to say that he is sure that I had power. Eventually he brought up a fuse. He handed it to me and walked away. Really? Is it not your job to do that? They are lazy and cut corners on everything. read more

Run... as fast as you can... amongst the list of nasty, horrible things I had to endure... roaches... rats (these were no tiny field mice!)... they stopped trash pick up for months... black mold caused by a constant leak from upstairs (no the leak was never fixed either and I always had water coming down), when I begged for the 4th time to get it fixed I was told "we can just tear out the ceiling and you won't have one at all, would that make you happy?" The owners were pretty terrible people as professionals. Although I was paying for the entirety of the last month I was there, they threw out roughly $1,500 worth of my belongings with absolutly no reasonable (this term is important) notice. They have never denied doing this. They refused to answer any questions regarding it via email or phone (which was not uncommon to begin with). I was advised by mutiple lawyers to pursue legal action but unfortunately did not have the funds to hire one of them and do so (which I believe they counted on) or even put the money down for small claims court. They are incredibly petty people. In previous replies to my comments they have also shared my past financial issues as well as my dad's personal email in public comments. Incredibly unprofessional. Please avoid at all cost. On top of this, they waited over 7 months replace my shattered window. They also left a huge leak in my living room ceiling that was on and off fixed for around 3 months. Their records should show this as well as the pictures I still have on my phone. Horrible! Avoid at all costs! I was so excited to relocate to this area and they have ruined my experience. There is absolutely no communication from the management company. I went for a month and a half with my electricity going off and on. They blamed on me repeatedly, only to find out that it was due to a ceiling fan that they mis-wired. Their contractors trashed my apartment during window installation and damaged my belongings. I sent pictures to the management company and received no response. I was without a working refrigerator for 3 weeks. The building was advertised as secure, and a buzzer system to unlock the door. The doors no longer lock, and the buzzer has never worked, I was told by management that this was not a priority for them. They are refusing to turn on the heat, in spite of the fact that it is October in Cleveland, and it is consistently only 62 degrees indoors in the day time. They should be shut down by the city. read more
