I had a wonderful experience at Northland eye care. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I knew what was happening for each eye exam and they explained and sanitized everything well. The people at the front desk helped me find frames that fit within my insurance and looked great! The staff is very friendly, but I was fustrated with them on multiple occasions. Initially I went in for new frames. They told me they wouldn't be able to supply me new ones because my prescription was expired. Okay, but appointments are 2 weeks out. Went to the appointment. Explained in great detail my need for one pair of frames and some contact lenses. Got my exam, had the consultation with the doctor and he verbally called in the front desk person and explained the exact type of contacts I needed. Was told it would be 2 more weeks to get my new frames and I would be instructed then how to use the contacts. I get a call 2 weeks later telling my frames were ready. I inquired about the contacts and the individual on the phone seemed to not know what I was talking about. I explained I was to be prescribed contact lenses and they should have arrived at the same time. I was then told I would need to make an appointment to pick up my frames? I asked "can't I just swing by and pick them up?" I was told no. So I made another appointment to collect my new frames and was told I needed to make another appointment to have another exam done in order to get contacts. I was pretty confused at this point, and was told to "listen" by the front desk when I expressed my confusion to why I was one, not told about another exam when I was there the first time for an "exam". She replied that they had the lenses there but they needed to measure my eye? I'm was thinking why wasn't this done the 1st time I was here for the 1st exam I had sceduled a month ago? I told her that the doctor had explained to her in detail the lenses I needed during the consultation and she acted like I was misinformed or uninformed. I asked if I could order second lenses for my old frames with the new prescription and was told I would have to make an appointment and bring the frames in so they could send them in? Well thats another month. Very confused because the frames they sold me are still on display and thought being a eye glass provider they would be able to just pop in and out lenses if they ordered them. Why do you need my frames? I was so fustrated I was speechless and asked for a reciept and my prescription and walked out. I'm not sure I'll return. Still need contacts and new lenses. I will be investigating new lenses online and another store to get contacts. read more

Don't come here if you value punctual service with people who clearly know what they're doing. This is the first time I have gone to this doctor. At my original appointment, I was impressed with how informative it was. However, the receptionist kept repeating that she needed more caffeine every time she got mixed up or confused. I tried to schedule the pupil dilation when paying and she said, we'll just do it when you pick up your contacts that you ordered. I agreed to do it then. I didn't get a receipt, and the doctor said they needed to retake a picture of my eye because it was blurry, which didn't happen. I had to follow up to ask for a receipt because I wasn't given one. Then, I get a text telling me I needed to schedule the pupil dilation; this indicates to me that the receptionist was mistaken. When I went for pupil dilation, apparently if someone gets sick or injured, the office can't function well. They text and say if you're more than 5 minutes late they will reschedule, but when they leave you sitting around because one person can't make it to work, they don't seem to care. When you mention this, they just give lots of excuses that indicate they don't really care. I didn't see a single person moving quickly or that they were trying to speed things up. They just stand around or saunter around. They had the receptionist dilate my pupils in the waiting area. Not much about that felt very sanitary or even safe when the receptionist is doing things that techs should be doing and clearly didn't wash her hands before touching my eyelids and administering eye drops. It doesn't instill a lot of confidence while you're waiting and they're trying to explain to each other how things work and who should be doing what. They called me back into a room at one point then said nevermind and made me get my pupils dilated in the waiting room. I don't have confidence that they know what they're doing, and if someone should get sick or injured, then the office can't function. I won't be going back to waste more of my time. I still didn't get a retake of the picture of my eye because I had been waiting so long and was going to miss the bus. I'd rather go to Sam's Club where everyone is professional and punctual. read more

A good start. Arrived. Clear signage at the door which is locked. Return to your car call let them know that you were here. They come and get you. An excellent plan. A similar plan was navigated to get me into the exam room to begin the initial testing. All employees wear masks, and continually wash their hands. The doctor was my kind of doctor not in a suit coat. If you're looking for that, this might not be your place. Over-the-top friendly. Stephanie patiently waited for me to figure out the frames that fit my face while sporting are rad masks! She kindly stepped out of the room allowing me to see the full appearance before purchasing. Heidi who answered the phone and help me through the computer paperwork was Very pleasant to speak with and kind. I have forgotten the name of one person, she did the initial testing and was over the top sweet too. I will definitely make my annual visit to this office during my summer time. read more

Hands down the BEST place to get your eyes checked! I've pretty much been to most of the eye doctors in town and haven't been too satisfied with my experiences until now! Everyone was genuinely friendly, helpful and professional! The optometrist here was incredible! I found out my previous prescription was too strong, which is why I had been getting headaches. I also overheard the doctor and his assistant talking about my options for contacts and they truly were figuring out what my best options were and when presented to me, I discovered a new (new to me) type of contact lens that no other doctor had ever mentioned, would be my best option. Nothing was ever pushed on me; I felt that they truly gave me every option for my personal preferences. I've never had a more kind and knowledgeable optometrist! In the end when I was picking frames, everyone was so helpful and friendly and helped with what type of frame would fit my face shape best and what options on the lenses would be best for me. Everyone here has had many, many, many, years of experience and I've never had this amazing of an experience at an eye doctor's office before! I highly recommend this place! read more

While my experience there was disappointing at the time, I had to update and raise my ztars. I received a letter from the Optometrist apologizing for the problems and refunding my money. On top of this they paid for my next pair of glasses too! I was AMAZED at such an old school gesture. Therefore, I must assume that the multiple troubles with my experience there were truly an anomoly. I find this company honorable and will now throw my whole recommendation behind them. read more

Similar to the reviewer below, I ripped my contact while on a business trip in Flagstaff and hadn't brought any back ups (silly me). Everybody at Northland was extremely nice, they even called my eye doctor on my behalf to request my prescription. I left within 40 minutes with two pairs of contacts when I only needed one for one eye, free of charge! Thank you for being so accommodating on such short notice. read more

I am a somewhat at-risk patient due to eye conditions that run in my family, but I have complete confidence in Dr. Thomas at Northland. The opticians are genuinely kind and helpful. The little bumper nose piece fell off my glasses, and they were willing to fix the problem for me even though I got the glasses from another eye doctor in another town where I used to live. Heidi took my glasses in the back and took care of the problem in a matter of minutes, and now they're as good as new. It isn't often that you find people willing to go the extra mile. Horrible eye doctor. You will be dragged into more visits than necessary, which equals more money spent and then they will take your visit fee our of the insurance money you should be getting towards your contacts. Steer clear of this place if you want a good eye doctor at a reasonable price. read more

Dr. Thomas did an excellent job. He was very thorough with the examination and in fitting me for new contacts. He seemed to listen well to what I had to say. The reason this review is 1 star is because of the front desk workers. I called to schedule my appointment and asked what kind of insurance coverage I would have. I was told that I would get a certain discount offered through my insurance coverage. So, I made the appointment. After the appointment was over, I went to the desk to pay. The person at the desk gave me the discount we had discussed previously. I thought everything was taken care of. Then, I received a bill from Northland Eye Care for a remaining amount that was not covered by my insurance. I feel that I was mislead by the person at the front desk, who told me my insurance had coverage and that I would not owe anymore money. I was told both before and after the appointment that the insurance discount was applied, only to find out a month later that it had not. I am disappointed in the level of customer service. I feel that I was not given honest and accurate information regarding the insurance accepted at Northland Eye Care. read more
