There's something so nostalgic about this mall for me. Though now they have many new stores here since the last time I stepped foot inside, a lot of it stayed the same. I just remember growing up, we used to go apple picking down the street and we'd always stop by afterwards for some Chick-fil-A. The Chick-fil-A in Northshore Mall was one of the only locations that Massachusetts had at that point in time (I believe?) or at least the only one I had visited as a kid because the ones near me had not arrived yet. Northshore Mall is the only mall in MA to have a JCPenney now. Still a pretty lively & busy mall when I last visited about a week ago! As I walked through the mall, it felt a bit dated compared to the other malls (Natick, Burlington, etc). Very early 2000s kind of vibe with a mix of some popular stores you'd find at most shopping malls, along with a couple small businesses... they've even got a barber shop in here! Overall, I find that not much has changed at Northshore. Seems like an okay mall for quick, casual shopping. Nordstroms will be gone soon and replaced with a Dick's Sporting Goods. I wouldn't go out of my way to shop here, however, it was still nice to visit! read more

I'm nostalgic for malls. I also stare in awe at some that are in disrepair, the ones that are ghost towns and those that are disappearing at an ever quickening clip. The "dead malls" is a weird YouTube genre to be into but count me as a fan. Eastern MA has/had a few and thankfully many have been torn down (I'm looking back at you, Woburn Mall) but we should be very lucky to have at least 3-4 malls within a 25 mile radius that are STILL going strong. Northshore Mall is one of them. I can't believe on a recent rainy weekend that I actually enjoyed the 5-6 hours we spent here on an afternoon without a care in the world. I've grown to hate retail experiences as I age. But my kids have kind of brought that back around for me full circle. They can spend an hour in the Lego Store or another half hour in a toy store and we aren't being pressured to buy something or be given looks that they just want us to leave. I probably would have considered five stars if the food court offered up more than like 5-6 options. It looks to be in the middle of a renaissance so that's good, but it's not there yet. The one at Rockingham, NH has them beat and is the current area model for a full sized edibles smorgasbord. We were at JC Penney's over the crazy holidaze and it was packed like it was 1994 all over again, I couldn't believe my eyes. The Nordstrom is still going strong, they have an excellent cafe inside. Those anchors really are the foundations so as long as those can continue on, a place like NSM will be around for a long time. There are many chain stores left going on inside that you would be happy to find, even if they aren't all high end. Easy to get to from the highway, ample parking, excellent larger restaurants like Legals and Cheesecake Factory. For the suburban American, what's not here to love besides an Apple Store? read more

Fairly large in size, uniquely laid out, seem to be a lot of eating places which is nice, but we did not go to LA as we went to find a pair of shoes for the New Year's Eve party that night most of the same stores that most of the other malls have, so no surprises there. I had a pushy salesperson at the Queenia multiple times ask if i needed help while in the fitting room including after having *just* stepped in. I spent little time in the store. I thought this was an unusual incident. Today, months later, the same thing happened to my mom except this time the salesperson just intruded while she was in the middle of undressing. And then again to pull up her zipper even though she hadn't asked, this salesperson just reached out and grabbed her before getting an answer, thus my mom nearly flashed her. Crazy. She also wouldn't allow me and my mom to talk and kept interrupting with her opinion on how "nice" the dress is. Come on you've said that about every dress in the shop. Even more sketch, there's no returns just exchanges so thankfully we didn't buy. Although that wouldn't have ever happened with this quality of customer service. The dresses were overpriced anyway. The rest of the mall was normal! The JCPenny curiously smelled of sewage. read more

As a newb to Boston I'm still getting familiarized with the lay of the land, which includes any surrounding malls. While driving home from Salem, I spotted the Northshore Mall off the highway and resolved to visit in the future. This mall seems pretty new and up to date. The layout is kind of confusing but malls are sometimes designed that way on purpose. Some of the stores I visited included Express, White House Black Market, Zumiez, Vans, Journey's and Spencer's. The food court had limited options for vegan food - luckily there's a few restaurants that are more accommodating. My husband and I ended up at the Cheesecake Factory for their Impossible Burger for some post-shopping noms. Parking is plentiful BTW, which is a major plus. I'd give this mall five stars if they would just take care of two things: the kids' play area and the amount of vendors who try to lure you into a service. As a parent of two young kids, we bring them to the mall JUST for the play area as do many other parents by the number of parents and kids that are there throughout the week. It's a great way to do some shopping but keep the kids entertained. I went in today and the area reeked of vomit. On top of that, they haven't cleaned the carpet in what seems like MONTHS. There are stains and food spills on the carpet in the space. Secondly, the number of vendors waiting to pull you aside seems have increased. There are the hair straightener people, the skin and beauty people, the shoe cleaning people, etc...I can't make it from the food court to Macy's without being asked at least 6 times to try a product. There was one instance where I saw a vendor FOLLOW someone at least 10 feet to get her to sample a product-this is not ok and I hope the mall can monitor this. read more

This is a nice, clean mall. There are a lot of really nice stores, some unique and local and some national chains, and lots of restaurants. The layout is weird because this was an outdoor shopping center originally. I definitely would recommend this mall, for shopping or food or just something to do! read more

Mall rats everywhere, parents dump em here by the van fulls to wander about until closing, so they can walk aimlessly in circles texting and being ignorant of others. Like I get older people walk the malls to get steps in and some people like to go there to just sit and look around or something but blatant disrespect by some of these kids is insane. read more

I absolutely love this mall. They have very good anchor stores such as Nordstrom and Macy's. Both of these stores are always very well staffed and the stores themselves are just as good if not better than any of the other stores in those two chains. They have a Village Silversmith here and that is one store that is not to be found in all malls in the Boston area. So it is nice to have a mall not too far from home that has this particular shop in it. There is also a great Bath and Body works plus a Victoria's Secret that I like to shop at. The restaurants here are very nice and they do have a Cheesecake Factory for those of you that like that restaurant chain. If you are looking to eat more on the less expensive side they do have a nice food court here as well with everything from Asian food to Chick-fil-A. Chick-Fil-A is not always easy to find in this area so it is nice to know that they have one in this mall when I get a craving for it. I will always keep returning to this mall and I always enjoy visiting it when I am out in the North Shore area. read more

This used to be my back up mall when I felt like taking a Drive and was needing a change of scenery from Square One... I needed to get some Bday Items this week & some Bras for me, so I took a ride up to North Shore, knowing I could go to Childrens place in the Mall & the Toys R Us outside the mall & then stop in Lane Bryant for me... So I get to the mall around 950, sit in the car for a moment waiting for the actual stores to open, I have no desire to just walk around a closed mall... so as Im sitting there a car pulls up next to me, parks & opens the door INTO my car SOO hard that it shook my car... 4 Elderly people get out & then all proceed to look at me as if I did somthing to them... So I get out & take a pic of their license place only to see they are Canadian (Go Figure - they are still mad about the Stanley Cup, LOL)!!! So I am already mad, I run into Childrens Place & get what I need then go to the big Infamous "Mall - You are here- Sign", only to find out Lane Bryant is GONE.... WTF is this about, Where is a big girl sposta shop in North Shore Mall now?? Because trust me the Plus Size Section at any Anchor store is NO MATCH to Lane... So Im mad & I storm out... Skip Toys R Us altogether & just go to Square One... So Im mad at this mall & Probably wont return again soon, because there is nothing here that I cant get closer... read more

I really like this mall. I enjoy driving down Route 114 here from North Andover whenever I visit my dad. Great variety of stores, plus it's conveniently located to some other stores such as Barnes & Noble and Ulta in case you can't find what you're looking for. Multiple entrances with ample parking space. Clean and has some nice comfortable seating areas throughout the mall. I particularly like going to the area by the Nordstrom coffee shop whenever I want a break from walking around. The food court leaves much to be desired and is oddly small considering the size of the mall. One of the few Chick-fil-A locations in Massachusetts is here though which is nice for something different. There are a lot of other dining options attached to the mall outside the food court such as Legal Seafoods, Cheesecake Factory, and Chipotle. Overall a nice mall if you're in the area and need to do some holiday gift shopping or just want to browse for a while. read more

I don't know why, but I like this mall. Well, I know... It's not quite stuffy like a higher end mall but it's not a dump either. Northshore Mall seems to have something for everybody, as the stores vary in quality and size. Plus the facilities seem to be well-maintained, even though parts of the mall are looking a little aged. The dining options are better than the average mall around here. Just having Chick-fil-a itself makes that assertion true. There's also a Legal Sea Foods, which entrance leads to another assertion: Northshore is a little quirky. There are smaller portions of the mall that have two floors and others parts of the mall that don't. Legal has a strange access way from the mall, which is a narrow corridor that passes through nail and hair salons. There are a few other businesses just beyond the parking lot such as The Container Store, Shaw's Supermarket, Toys R' Us and Barnes & Noble. read more

Not what I expected...but better! This mall was huge, ritzy and had everything I needed. I was not expecting to find an LA-style mall in Boston. It was super clean, had all the usual chain stores I was hoping for and then some. The food court as modest but had a great selection including the all-important Boston staple, Dunkin' Donuts. The parking was also great and the restrooms were clean. You can't ask for more than that. I was there on a rainy weekday so it wasn't too crowded. I stocked up on all the sale merchandise I could've hoped for at New York & Company, Ann Taylor Loft, Sephora, Hallmark and Macy's. I was even surprised to see they had a UNI-QLO too. So this is the best of the three malls within the North Shore. Whereas it feels as though malls are struggling and closing, this mall seems to have plenty of patrons. The store options here are arguably the best being offered, as there are unique shops like The Village Silversmith and Na Hoku, and a couple of niche shops like Think Geek. Of course with the common mall stores like Spencers, Hot Topic, Sears, Macy's, Gap, etc. it is somewhat undiscernable from other malls. Whereas Liberty Tree has AMC Loews Cinema which has been updated to attract movie-goers, North Shore Mall has restaurants to attract patrons, and they expand on the property to bring new restaurants. At one point in time P.F. Chang's was a chain that could only be found in Boston. Now it's in the North Shore. Legal Seafood and Burton's are other options as well. The facility is always clean. Of course with the mass of people I don't enjoy going there, but I like that I can get nice chocolate at Godiva for my wife, and hit Game Stop and Newbury Comics. My only complaint is the kiosks and the shop where the workers harass you as you walk by. I ignore them, I hate doing it but it feels like if you engage with them you have to tell them no, repeatedly. Biggest f***ing complaint when I go to the mall. read more

This is a nice mall by today's very low standards, but there's one downside and it's a huge one--endless harassment by those stupid mall kiosk people. They can have up to ten or twelve of them at a time in there. The last time I went to do any kind of shopping one of them had an actual storefront and I unfortunately went in there thinking it was a place like Bath & Body Works. Let's say it didn't end well. What was supposed to be a quick look around ended up being over an hour. I said no to them about sixty times and told them not to touch me even though they insisted I try every product. They blocked the entrance to the store and said I wasn't allowed to leave until I bought something. I ended up screaming for somebody out in the hallway to help get me out and that's when they finally let me go. I reported them to the mall manager and security and they said they would have a 'talk' with them but I don't know if they even did that. By the way, it wasn't the first time I reported one of these con artist kiosk people. Nothing is ever done about them though. After that last incident, which was several years ago, I vowed not to go to this mall ever again. I didn't--until today. I had to return a pair of jeans I bought online. This company doesn't have a store at this mall, but I read on their returns page that the Northshore Mall offers 'easy returns' of their product--just drop them off with someone at the information desk and walk away. There was another location that offered the same thing but it was farther away. I figured it I would just drop off the jeans and go home. Nope. I returned the jeans when a man working beside the person I gave to the jeans to said the mall was sponsoring a contest. It was a fifty thousand dollar cash prize. I unfortunately signed up and then he proceeded to tell me that it was actually for some vacation club/timeshare deal and pressured me into buying this vacation package. I said I absolutely wouldn't say yes to anything today, but if I was given some more information to take home, I'd think about it. Of course, he had no information to give out and I wasn't allowed to think it over or call my husband because Salesguy was leaving town soon and the opportunity would be lost forever. I ended up having to yell 'NO' six times and finally I walked away when he wouldn't get the message. I'm even more pissed that these shysters are allowed to work at the information desk. All I wanted was to return a pair of jeans! I'm absolutely not entering this mall again for any reason! So if you still decide to go there--be aware that this mall is filled to the brim with these types of super aggressive salespeople and you will be harassed to death. All of the stores there have an online presence--there's no reason to endure this b.s. anymore. read more

I'm a jaded New Yorker, and I honestly found no fault with this mall! It's got plenty of the store that you know and love - H&M, Foot Locker, heck, they even have a LEGO store! Who doesn't still want to play with LEGOs?! Don't you lie to yourself! Clean and spacious, this mall gets you to work on your legs quite a bit, so make sure you have your walking sneakers on! The staff in every store I went into was pleasant, friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. Hungry? There's a food court, and, if you're still looking for finer faire, just walk outside to the P.F. Chang's or the Cheesecake Factory! Worth a trip if you have nothing else major on your agenda! Closes at 9PM on most nights. read more

Great mall. This is how all malls should be. It's a huge space and has practically every store you want, and more that you didn't know you wanted. The food court is very nice and has a lot of seating areas, as well as couches. Chickfila, Au Bon Pain, Taco Bell, Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, Pizzeria Regina, and chinese/japanese places to choose, or Cheesecake Factory or P.F. Changs for restaurant choices. They have a huge Macy's, Victoria's Secret, Pink, Sephora, Lush, Sephora, Express, Nordstroms, Bebe, Armani Exchange, Forever XXI, H&M, North Face store, Newbury Comics, Apple Store, Body Shop, Bath & Body Works, Brookstone, Teavana, and Gamestop, Lego Store, as well as others. I can spend all day here practically. There is ample parking space. There is also The Container Store, Barnes & Noble, and ULTA in the parking lot areas. The only thing you need to leave this mall and head over to the Liberty Tree Mall for would be Target, and Best Buy (and Panera). read more

There is a decent variety of stores here, though the layout is somewhat inconvenient. Too many hidden corridors and escalators. The food court is down to about three restaurants with no sign of new ones opening any time soon. It's been like this for two years now at least. I ventured over to the Orvis store. You have to exit the mall near Sears and then enter the store on the side of the mall. This exit/entrance is sketchy to say the least. Junkies hanging out everywhere, and a lot of "undocumented workers" loitering around, perhaps waiting for work? Trash all over the sidewalk, and no sign of security anywhere. Good amount of empty stores now which appears to be a trend at malls all across the country. More people are shopping online now and the brick and mortar stores cannot earn enough to pay the ridiculously high rents at malls. read more

Since I live out in Western MA, our mall selections are pretty limited. After traveling to the Northshore Mall this weekend, I was reminded of how large malls can be as well as how many stores there are. As we shopped at the mall we were happy to see that they had a little bit of everything. The stores themselves were incredible and this mall had a ton of great kiosk vendors which was nice. The mall itself was well maintained and clean. The food court had a ton of great options, and the staff at the majority of the stores were also polite and helpful. Shopping at this mall had to have been one of the best experiences I have had in the past few months. So much so that we came here two days in a row. Moral of the story, this is a great mall with a ton of great shops. read more

I have been going to Nordstrom for a decade now and I very like it. Today was the first time I had a bad experience, today I was getting fitted for a bra they were short staffed the sale-person brought me in to the fitting room to measure then said she will be right back. Considering that it's easier for me to get to Square One Mall or Galleria, I still prefer coming to this mall. It has all the stores that I love, H&M, Forever 21, Sephora, Lush, Nordstrom, etc. There's a lot of parking spaces and I've never had any trouble getting a spot. The food selection is pretty good too, they have a mix of restaurants and fast food options that would appease any and all picky eaters. This is my favorite mall in the area and anytime I need to go to a mall, I come to this one! read more

It has pretty much anything you'd need and it's worlds better than the Liberty Tree down the street but the constant hard sell by the folks running the kiosks is a pain in the ass. I find my self zig-zagging through the mall as I spot them spot me. This was by far my worst shopping experience ever. You cannot eat in food court but nobody tells u that and there r no signs. A guard comes over to tell u to n n eat outside. JC Penny and Macy's r both a disgrace. Penny's is a not very clean rummage and Macy's is the Gustapo. I love this mall. It's got a kind of funky layout, but that might be why I like it, it's all one level. I spend vast amounts of time here when I should be in class and I never get bored. There is everything you need: an Apple Store, Victoria's Secret, Macy's, American Eagle... The list goes on. The food court is one of the best I've seen, mainly because of the Chick-fil-a, which is hard to find. They also have Kelly's Ice Cream which is a great treat. Joe's American Bar and Grill is worth a try too, yummy and inexpensive. Just watch out for the cranky moms with too many kids and the old people who invade the food court. Keep your distance, they aren't very friendly. read more

Born and raised on the Northshore, this mall was home to many jobs of my teens. Back in the days of Jordan Marsh and Lord and Taylor, this mall was THE mall, and Liberty Tree was the dumpy cousin that you wouldn't even go to for movies because the theater only had 2 screens and Hollywood Hits was cheaper and had way more screens. Anyway, back to the Mall. Essentially Northshore Mall used to be what Liberty is now in terms of style and decor. A few years back it started a major renovation that added a two-floor wing and a roster of stylish additions like Nordstrom, Guess, MetroPark (now closed), H&M, Forever 21 (two floors of it!), PINK (stand alone store), Na Hoku, Swarovski, the list goes on and on. The floors were redone, the food court looks like a posh hotel lobby, and PF Chang's and Cheesecake Factory now anchor the JCPenney side entrance. This mall has everything you need and more, it's bright and airy, has lots of seating, and clean bathrooms. What more could you ask for? read more

Okay, so first off, the reviewer Lacey P. is a moron. And evidently a liar too. Lacey, you did not almost get hit 500 times, that's simply improbable. While this is not the Mall of America nor the giant never ending mall I went to in Long Island, the Northshore Mall is a proud example of a high quality mall with a large selection of moderate to slightly upscale stores. There's not a lot of "filler" here. By that I mean, all the no name and trashy stores you typically have to skip over that you find in malls like Liberty Tree or Holyoke despite the fact that there may be some gems within. Northshore mall has evolved itself time and time again, and is moving up another notch with its recent Cheesecake Factory addition and Nordstrom that is currently being built. I've seen this mall grow from a Pretzel Time, 5-7-9, County Seat, Friendly's mall to a Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, Coach, Nordstrom mall. All they need now is a MAC store or a Sephora and they'd be close to perfect. I do miss my beloved Sam Goody though, where I worked through high school and on and off through college. I saw that place go from having a cafe to a techno room to an abandoned storage area used merely as an attempted escape route for mallrats and their stolen Manson cds. needed cute/dressy flats or sandals but not sparkly Jesus sandals for a christening that i didn't know i was going to until that day... that's what i said to the girls at Nordstroms and they really stepped up to the plate. All 3 of us came away with cute shoes. there were 2 salesgirls helping us, kinda tag-team kinda cat fight "it's MY commission damn it!"... i tried on endless pairs of shoes, set my eyes on a bronzy pair of ballet flats and then the girl killed my shoe high with "would you like to see our shoe of the month?" asked me if i preferred black/brown/tan... and then disappeared for a couple minutes... so i figured they were another pair of cute shoes... and then my hopes were dashed when she whips out a hideous pair of black granny sandals - really? i didn't even attempt - i just flat out said "those aren't my style... sorry." on the way out had to come back to buy a pair of pedi-socks b/c i forgot to look for them in the mall... i told the girl at the counter "i'm in a time crunch, i just need these socks"... the phone rings... instead of ignoring it she ANSWERS... and i said HERE'S the money, i don't need a receipt/bag, just give me the socks. read more

I hate to say it, but this is probably one of the nicer malls on the North Shore. It has many of your mall "staples" and much more anchor department stores than it actually needs. I mean, why does a mall need a Sears, JC Penny, Lord & Taylor, Macy's AND Nordie's? (Nordie's is the best out of all those, btw). The food court is pathetically small IMO, and it needs more seating, especially on weekends when it's jam-packed. The restaurants that are there include Cheesecake Factory, PF Chang's, and Joe's, all of which are OK. The mall is mostly one-level, which is nice for walking around and window shopping. All the department stores are multi-level, and they do have a handful of stores on the lower level. However, you have to be Sherlock Holmes to find any of the elevators because they are practically hidden (I always have my baby/stroller with me and need to use elevators). But, I do have to give them props for having sitting areas throughout the mall with comfy couches and coffee tables. If you looked at the parking lot, you would think there was ample parking here, but that simply isn't true on weekends and during the holidays. My other gripe is that there are stores on the same lot, but you have to drive to them (like Ulta). Seems a little disconnected to me. read more

After visiting several malls in the area, I can safely say that the North Shore Mall is probably one of the best. Aside from the fact that the food court sucks, there's other restaurant options onsite including The Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs and Bertucci's. I loved the selection of stores, even though I tried on like 100 things and only found 1 item I liked well enough to purchase. I can't vouch for this place around the holidays, but like any American mall, I'd imagine it must be pure insanity. read more

Awesome mall!! I love near here and this place has everything. He food court is packed and they have everything there. If you do foto the food court get the Chinese food it's amazing. The map has lots of stores for clothing all the way down to shoes. Very big mall and of course there's an Apple Store. I don't rate things 5 stars unless I know one really deserves one. Oh and and also a pro tip right down the road is the first mall that got out in around that area and it is the liberty tree mall. Wow, every store I need from AE to Francesca's to Sears and JC Penny. The food court was nice too, not only the chairs/tables (they have diner seating too), but the people who worked there too! Free samples and hellos from the people that worked in the various food stalls, I didn't know that still existed. There's plenty of seating and charging stations around the mall for you to rest and recharge. And thankfully mall directories in the most strategic areas like when you get off the escalator. read more

I loved it! It was clean, felt new and had many fabulous stores. What I enjoyed best was the variety of pricepoints. For example they have H & M as well as Nordstrom and White House Black Market. So depending on your budget and your needs, Northshore seemed to suit a larget population. Their food court was nothing extravagant but did the job of curbing our hunger via Taco Bella, Chik-fil-A, and Au Bon Pain.
