Northshore was a fantastic company to work with. From the start, Cesar and Andre in the office were both very helpful. We got a schedule that suited our needs, and on the first day of service, the crew showed up right on time. The plumbers, Emiliano and Marcelino, were both terrific. The Repairman quoted a price of $175 to replace a 6 inch piece of pipe which had a pinhole leak. The job took less than 15 minutes, including the time it took to get the pipe from his truck. This plumber was recommended by Angie's List. Since I had just broken my arm and was in no condition to have a parade of plumbers give estimates, I had him do the job. Whatever happened to the days of plumbers charging by the hour? There is no way this job should have cost $175! What a rip off. read more

Unofficial motto = Don't call us, we'll call you. They did a good job when finally arrived but HORRIBLE customer scheduling experience. I've used them in the past a few times and they did okay work. So I tried to be loyal but you call and get an answering service EVERY time. Each time you call, give them all of your info, explain what you think is going on with the plumbing, they ask if it's an emergency and yes, it is, then at the very end they tell you someone will call you back. Then you watch your phone and wait for hours, so frustrating! Then will call again, thinking maybe they didn't get the phone number right and start right from the beginning again. Also side note about crazy spam emailing, don't give them your email address. We are literally still getting weekly emails from a service call like 6 months ago with repeated please rate our service on social media. What plumber emails you identical emails for months on end, even when you unsubscribe, and with worse frequency than a retail store? Enough already, here's my honest review. read more

They came twice and still couldn't fix the problem. Scheduling was a nightmare and seeing as my tennants had a rocky schedule themselves, it created an incredibly frustrating experience. The plumber even said, once realizing he'd have to come back, "If you give me a good tip, I won't report to the company that I had to come back". My impression was if you couldn't fix the problem that wouldn't be my fault as the customer. Eventually I did receive a refund from what the company charged me but not what I had to pay to angies list to get them out here. If the company gave me a $100 credit, I wouldn't use them for services. read more

Michael was very friendly and helpful. Our landscaper accidentally cut our outside gas line to the grill. After we had the gas shut off, it was very difficult to find someone to come out and fix the problem. Not only did Michael fix the problem, he came over first for a free estimate! My tenant reported water leaking from base of the toilet. I called NorthShore in the morning to have someone come out to fix it. They came out that afternoon and noted that the sewer line was not flowing. I have a 1 year warranty from a different company that maintains the sewer line for me, so I asked NorthShore not to fix it. They didn't charge me for this service call. I was shocked! But I will add them to my speed dial for future plumbing jobs. read more

We had three different estimates to replace one of our two water heaters and Yaser at Northshore was the only one who noticed that our tank was three years older than our house (builder used an older tank) and therefore past its warranty. He took the time to explain in great detail what the problem was. Their pricing was very reasonable and they were prompt, polite and tidy. Overall it was an okay experience. Good work, but scheduling was extremely frustrating. The initial appointment (Monday 3pm) turned out to be just an assessment because it was more than just a simple drain clog. My pipes had slumped in a section in my basement so they had to come back to replace a section of pipe and some connections. The reason for 3 stars is that we scheduled the service the following day (Tuesday) at 3pm. I had to get off work early each day and being active duty, it wasn't an easy thing to arrange two days in a row since I thought it would only require one day. I rushed home on Tuesday to make sure I was on time and the plumber was a no-show by 3:10pm. He was supposed to call when he was on his way, but ended up calling at 3:10pm to say he was on the south side of Chicago and wouldn't be able to make it that day. Needless to say I was pissed. He rescheduled to Thursday at noon since my wife would be able to let them in at lunch. They quoted me $350 for the replacement, which seemed okay to me. On Thursday they arrived around 12:30, 30 mins behind schedule. They found that they had to replace a little more of the pipe than originally thought and told my wife they'd keep the same estimate. They then called me and said they had to go back to get more supplies because they had to replace even more. The new estimate was $450, which was fine because at this point we just needed it fixed. Work looks good to me and job is done, but was frustrating overall. read more

New to the North Shore, doing an entire home reno in Lake Forest. The estimates from other plumbers were so completely out of line with other plumbers I've used in similar reno's in 4 different states. Andre's price was not only the best by nearly 30 percent, it was his explanation of how he would do the job in a timely manner including answering any question I had along the way. He shows up with his crew and reviews all details with them before starting the job. When the crew started, they worked together as a single unit, starting with protecting all surfaces from the front door to the room(s) they had work in. The work is excellent, clean and faster than I expected. My reno is being done in stages while we live in the house. The NorthShore Service employees are courteous to our personal space as well as to our pets. We are STILL in renovations, yet when we need the NorthShore Service Plumbers for each phase of renovation, they're just a phone-call away. One of the phases they were able to save time and materials, which I didn't notice till they handed me a lower bill ! ! ! Who does that?! If I could give this company a zero I would. They absolutely left me in the lurch. I had my water heater go out. I called this company and they had someone out in 7 hours from when I called. They scratched their heads for a half an hour and called to see if they had the water heater I needed in stock which they did. I was told they would be out to switch out the water heater the following day and that someone from the office would give me a call to give me a time. No call. I finally had to call the office and they acted like the service the next day was news to them and that they would call the plumber and have him give me a call which he never did. Now it's Monday. I get a call from the plumber and he said he was running late and I told him I had no clue he was even coming that day. His ETA was 9:40 am. 11:30 rolls around. No plumber. I redialed he plumber to see if he was still coming. He said "Didn't the office call you?" I said "About what?" He said let me call the office and they will call you and he would not elaborate further. An hour later I get a call. Evidently the water heater they had in stock was NOT the right one. They would have to order and it would be at least another week and that the quote given me now was $400 higher. I told them to forget it and that I would call someone else which I did. That someone else was at my house within 4 hours with the right water heater and installed it in an hour and was gone. The price was less than NorthShore's original quote. I will add that every time I called NorthShore about anything they had to have all my information over and over again as if it was not in any system by phone number or name. To constantly have to do that is frustrating in addition to dealing with people that appearently do not have a clue. I would never bother to call these people ever again. read more

I called Northshore Service Plumbers after doing a google search. I had an issue with both my bathroom and kitchen sink. The plumber/technician that came was Andre and he was fantastic. Arrived within the time frame that I was given. He was kind and courteous and took care of my problem completely. He also thoroughly explained how I can prevent the problem from occurring again. I appreciated the in depth information. In the end the technician even cleaned up the area around my sink and cleaned up the few dishes I had in the sink to prevent contamination from any back flow that may have occurred. The plumber arrived within a half hour of my returning his call. He worked fast to remove the largest glob of dark hair and goop from deep in the bathroom drain pipe. The price was low at around 165 dollars, less than plumbers who were closer in proximity. He mopped and wiped out the bathroom to clean up after his work as part of the service. He explained how the plumbing system works in my building. When I asked him for an opinion, he took a look at a different problem in the kitchen and gave me a theory about the leak problem to follow up. He offered to do the diagnostic and open the ceiling for close the same price to rooter the bathroom drain. I loved the service! I highly recommend Northshore. read more

North Shore deserved 5 stars for the last job they did here. In the current case, the plumbing work appears to be very good. Unfortunately other aspects didn't meet that standard. The work required them to jackhammer an old catch basin out of our basement floor. I would have appreciated more notice up front of what a mess that would make so I could have covered up with some drop cloths. A few gouges were left in woodwork when the catch basin was taken out of the house. And some other little issues. So, 5 stars for the hard stuff, maybe 2 stars for the job management. read more
