$35,000 DISASTER FROM A SIMPLE CLOGGED TOILET!!! We called "Emergency Plumbing" with a clogged toilet in August 2024. After their plumber visited us, we ended up with THREE ROOMS DESTROYED BY WATER AND SEWAGE, costing $35,000 IN REPAIRS that took SEVERAL MONTHS, and then later getting dropped by our brand new homeowners insurance due to the claim! "Emergency Plumbing" happily took my several hundred dollars in payment for "clearing the clogged toilet". They have offered no recompense for causing our massive loss. But, to their credit, they did say "sorry" a couple times. THE FULL, DISGUSTING, DANGEROUS, SAD STORY: In August 2024 I called about a clogged toilet I couldn't plunge clear. They were able to schedule a plumber for early in the morning. The plumber arrived, and first wanted to see my septic tank. He started to hand dig a bit towards the tank. A minute of digging got nowhere, so he decided to come inside and look at the toilet. He tried an auger to clear the clog, to no avail. So, he asked to see the sewer cleanout. We went to the basement, where things were about to go DANGEROUSLY BAD. We located it above a ceiling tile in the finished basement. He held a up small garbage bag and opened up the cleanout... A FIRE HOSE RIVER OF SEWAGE immediately began to spray out onto him and our finished basement. He panicked and asked for garbage cans / bags to catch the sewage river. My wife brought down some large utility garbage bags. The plumber and I held up and filled about 3-4 large bags of sewage over our heads during the next several minutes before the flow finally stopped and he could cap off the cleanout. He reassured me by saying, "sometimes stuff like this happens". We were both drenched in sewage from head to toe. Some had splashed in my eyes and mouth. He started to hand mop up the large sewage puddle with some paper towels. I told him "don't bother, this all will need a mitigation company". He replied, "all you really need is some soap and water". Ummm no. We dried off, shedded clothes and went back upstairs. The toilet still wouldn't drain, so he said he'd drive back to get the larger auger. He asked if I had any toilets upstairs, and I replied yes. He said "OK, you can use your upstairs toilet and shower, just don't use the clogged one down here". He left and I started to shower. After showering I came back down to the main floor to discover that SHOWER WATER WAS GUSHING OUT OF THE TOILET INTO OUR BATHROOM AND HALLWAY!!! More fun! In the second panic of the day, I tried my best to dam up the NEW RIVER OF WATER now FLOODING my main level hardwood floors. I ran downstairs to see even more water now soaking many ceiling tiles and raining onto the sauna and floor. I called the plumber and the head plumber agreed to come join the fun. He arrived, I explain the scene, and he said "Oh no, he should never have told you to use the fixtures upstairs". Oh no! The first plumber later returned with the larger auger. They managed to clear the clog with it. They did some hand mopping up of the now destroyed first floor powder room, hallway, hall closet, and living room. They asked for a check for several hundred dollars, said sorry for the problems, took my check and left. The next day we opted for a water & sewage mitigation company, rather than the plumber's recommendation of "soap and water". Over the next couple days, my wife and kids truly enjoyed watching the hardwood floors, powder room, drywall, and finished basement get ripped out of the house we had purchased just months before. Then we had four days of loud industrial fans and dehumidifiers to hopefully prevent any mold. Then a few weeks enjoying a half ripped apart house, no working first floor bathroom, rough hardwood cuts, nails, etc. Lots of fun for kids and wives alike. The insurance claim process and reconstruction took place over the next couple months. We had to cancel our Thanksgiving party, as we were still wrapping up the rebuild by then.In the weeks after the plumbing adventure, I texted and called the plumber, hoping to get some recompense for this disaster, maybe cover my insurance deductible, maybe even my money back? We talked on the phone once and I made my case. He didn't offer anything at all. Haven't heard from them since. I would love to avoid going to court and just have them do the right thing, make this right for a family of four whose second half of 2024 was ruined by their work. We called Emergency Plumbing to deal with a dripping shower head at our new home in Highland Park. The house had been mostly vacant for a few years so I'm sure no one thought much of the shower head dripping occasionally. Except that the issue was bigger, the cartridge and rough valve were leaking behind the wall! Vadim offered a few options, including cutting the tile. We balked but to their credit, Nick and Constantine stepped up to explain the situation. They offered up a great tile person and we worked out the steps to do the following: * Cut out the tile and damaged drywall * Re plumb and replace the shower valve and head (we were all up in there - why not?) * Give us time for a mold remediation person to get in there * return that day to install new tile, fix the drywall on the backside. If you've ever done work like this before, you know that we were looking at a multi day job with multiple trades. Second; my water heater went out on a weekend. Wow. Wow! Wow!!!!!! I moved into a new house and recently finished our basement. The old owners had an Old Watch Dog system in which the cables were in terrible condition and every now and then the battery would beep randomly. I was getting tired of it so it was time to buy a new battery backup. After days of research I was sold on the Wayne WSS30VN. Bought it off Amazon with prime, got it within 2 days and then when I opened and compared it to the old Watchdog I was like umm yea, time to call for some help. Found Emergency Plumbing online and thought I'd give them a try with all the positive reviews I saw. Man am I so happy I hired them. The business resides in Cary so the commute for them isn't crazy for emergency plumbing situations for me. They gave a very reasonable quote, I agreed on, they came on time and did a empacable job. Within an hour they took out the old Watchdog system, adjusted some PVC tubing and installed my new Wayne WSS30VN. Once it was done they brought a hose they had with them, tested the system and also told me about some other things I never knew like flushing out sediment once a year from the water heater. After install, he would not even pick up your call ** added notes for clarification that this review is for Konstantin from emergency plumbing I got it installed in June 2020 (invoice #454) and have sent email in aug 2021 and called you back then and even today. You are a dangerous person who did not even have the carbon monoxide vent out sealed. My hvac guy who came for replacement of furnace showed me that it was not even sealed. After your installation, i get hot water in my cold faucet for some time. The water leaks from the power vent unit above the heater which needs fixing. You removed a tube from the older one saying all that is not needed in the new and the previous person was an idiot. What all proof do you need from me? read more

Emergency Plumbing came out to my client's house on a very short notice on a Saturday night! Max did a thorough inspection and figured out what the issue was that was causing the leakage. Though it was not an emergency per se, it was really important for my client to have the shower fixed before upcoming Wednesday, since she is hosting Thanksgiving and the guest shower is much needed. Emergency Plumbing was assigned to us for a couple running toilets, through our home warranty. They handled that job, no problem- while they were here I mentioned an oder in our basement, so Nick checked it out... the seal on our sewer ejector pump was broken, so again- fixed it, no problem (and no smell for over 2 weeks now!) While in our basement, Nick noticed our water heaters were over 20 years old (I KNOW!! How did we even have hot water?) He wasn't the first plumber to point it out, and our home owners insurance also insisted we needed to change them out. I braced myself for another astronomical price quote, but was thrilled when I got the quote for 2-50 gallon heaters (and all the labor) for less than what we paid for 1-50 gallon water heater years ago in our old house. (Also so much lower than any of the quotes we've gotten in the year we have lived here). So I figured the catch would be they couldn't do it for months... wrong again, they were able to install them the next day! (Side note- I also had them quote me for cleaning my HVAC air ducts and servicing my whole system... not only did they once again SHOCK me with great pricing, the didn't even try to sell me a monthly service plan that I have no interest in but have been aggressively offered from many other HVAC companies in this area) Back to the main story- After the water heaters were installed, they cleaned everything up (even swept up some extra glitter and pine needles from our Christmas storage area). Fast forward a week- I went back down to show my mom the new water heaters, and walked into puddles of water, lots of water. Turned out one of the pipes into the new water heater had a tiny crack and was slightly spraying water for that entire week.. which really starts to add up. It was a terrible accident and this is where I was sure my 5 star review would become 1 star.... WRONG AGAIN!! Nick, Konstantin and crew showed up at the house within 30 minutes of my call- loaded down with dehumidifiers, and a plan. They fixed the water heater immediately, they started drying everything out, and where water seeped into some floor boards, they pulled it all up, dried it all out, and have since reinstalled the floor (even fixing some of the original imperfections in the rest of the floor). They cleaned everything up beautifully, and it's like nothing ever happened. I have read so many nasty things online about plumbers ignoring calls, refusing to fix something like this and worse... But not these guys... they went above and beyond to not only make it right but make it better!! What could have been a disaster was no more than a small inconvenience for us. I would recommend these guys to anyone and everyone!! And will use them for every HVAC and plumbing need I ever have again! Mistakes happen, especially in older houses and when it comes to plumbing. But how a company handles the situation is what makes the difference between just OK and Excellent! And Emergency Plumbing is undoubtedly EXCELLENT! (they are also really really nice guys!!)
