Coming to Tifton this morning I consider the typical Cracker Barrel and Waffle House. Last night I happened to see this restaurant. An old fashioned local restaurant. Nothing fancy but very good food. Definitely my go to place now. read more

Traveling through Tifton and wanted something different from our usual. Read the reviews and thought I had found a gem...WORSE BREAKFAST WE HAVE EVER HAD. Hard to imagine you could screw up breakfast that bad! Ordered eggs over medium, yokes were hard and whites were burned, grits so cold the butter wouldn't melt, biscuit gravy was OK at best, bacon was burnt and tiny pieces stuck together. Northside cafe is a staple in Tifton Georgia. It is the place for breakfast like your mother made on Saturday mornings. Fresh biscuits, eggs however you choose, and the meat of your choice. Good grits or roasted chopped potatoes ( hash browns from scratch). An endless cup of fresh coffee, and good local folks that treat you just like your home. Then it's lunch time... mom leaves the kitchen because these are the recipes only grandma can cook!! The flavor of everything is just like grandma does it. Fried chicken with that crust that rings in your ear when you bite into it. Hamburger steak with homemade gravy over the top. Yes please!! Tomato pie? Just try it. Loaded with cheese and not something you find from a town that it snows in. This is the epitome of what South Georgia is all about at the table. By yourself? Don't be a stranger. FOOD FIND ALERT!!! We drove to Sarasota FL today. We started driving at 5am. At 8, we searched for a breakfast place in Tifton GA. What google found for us was a great little place that is as local as can be. This is a place that would be featured on Diners, Drive-in's and Dives. There's so many great things to say about this place but I don't have enough time to tell you everything. The best way to describe it is if Mel's Diner and Cheers (for those too young google these two TV shows for more info) had a baby, it would be named The Northside Cafe! I'm really not sure where the good reviews are coming from, or maybe we caught them on a bad day, but overall the food was very disappointing and we instantly regretted eating there. We immediately went to the Wal-Mart across the street and got Tums afterwards. Very greasy, heavy, and some things were almost inedible. read more

The place needs some updates and they need to start serving their coffee in real cups with real silverware and plates. Styrofoam cups and plastic silverware is just awful. The omelette was good but the coffee was weak and the pancakes were tasteless read more

It's a small run-down building that could use a little TLC inside and out, but the staff and owner are very friendly and attentive. Don't expect anything fancy. It's a very basic menu but everything we had was quite good. read more

While in town for work I wanted to grab breakfast and one of the ladies at the office I was working at recommended I try this place out. Upon entering I found the place filled with regulars. It seemed like the waitress knew everyone there. I think the owner of the restaurant was also sitting at one of the tables. I ordered 2 eggs, 2 sausage patties, 2 pancakes and it came out to be $5.30 after tax. Very affordable! I ordered to go and it took around 10 minutes to get my food. The eggs were cooked perfect, the sausage was a little more done than I would like however it was not overcooked. The pancakes were extremely tasty! This place also has a drive through which would be very nice if the weather was bad. Overall I would come back here again. The price and quality of the food was great. read more

We were there for lunch today. Thee food was cold. The roast beef was tender and the soup (Brunswick Stew??) was hot. Everything else was cold. We will not be back nor will we recommend this restaurant. It was a waste of hard earned money. read more

Stopped on our way on I75. About a mile off the interstate - small, family diner that serves southern style breakfast. It was delicious - and served with true southern hospitality. If you want a delicious, affordable breakfast that isn't the standard Waffle House or Cracker Barrel, this is the place. We will definitely be back soon! read more

THERE IS COUNTRY AND THERE IS COUN-TRAY! KNOW THE DIFFERENCE! This place was a bit too authentic for me because it was very rundown, needed a good scrub and did not have a varied menu. We stopped in for breakfast and I was feeling a bit adventurous until I spoke with the waitress about the breakfast options. Sometimes "Southernspeak" requires its own interpretation and you have to listen very carefully. For example when asked about the cheese options we were told sliced and shredded instead of specific types. We also received a similar response when we asked about the breakfast sausage. I am accustomed to hearing options like turkey sausage, turkey bacon, chicken sausage and reg sausage and bacon. Instead I got smoked sausage, pan sausage and link sausage, (obviously all pork options).. The veggies are non-negotiable when it comes to my omelet. When I ask about veggies, I don't mean peppers and onions and when I specifically asked about spinach and broccoli and was told "Oh no we don;t carry all that stuff". Listen up people, this is a restaurant with no fresh veggies!! I decided to just stick with the glass of water. My husband ordered an omelet, with breakfast potatoes and toast. Everything seemed to be deep fried except the toast. It was bad but he was starving and ate it all. The serving size was actually small so he actually had to order more food when we found another restaurant that could make a veggie omelet.for me. Found this little local spot on Yelp as my husband and I were traveling to Atlanta. As we walked in, we were greeted by the owner, Bubba. Everyone knew everyone by name and had a very homey feeling. Food was great and the prices were amazing! Before long Bubba came up to our table asking where we were from and what brought us here. I told him we found his restaurant on Yelp. I was in Tifton visiting my Mom. She suggested the Northside Cafe'. The food is amazing. They have the best breakfast I've ever had. You can order from the menu or, just tell them what you want. We chose Northside Cafe per Yelp reviews and we were glad we did. This quaint cafe was very clean with a friendly staff. The owner Bubba, personally greeted everyone upon entering. When leaving he asked "did you have enough?" and we did. We had the smoked pork chop and hamburger steak, each with two sides. Tomato pie is amazing; with layers of tomato, onion, cheese, croissant and Italian spices. The food was flavorful and the portion/price was great as well.
