It was a Sunday followed by Memorial Day, so we pretty much sat for two days waiting until everyone returned from the weekend. Tuesday after the holiday, a doctor was assigned to us and the testing started. The doctor that was assigned to my wife was very knowledgeable and ordered test after test and scan after scan. Everything came back normal, but one test showed something that eventually became a the root cause. I grew up with a sickly mother and I know bad healthcare when I see it and this hospital was nothing but caring and compassionate throughout the entire 6-day ordeal. Several of the nurses were exemplary and the doctor was just super. We could not have asked for a better experience given the unpleasant circumstances. If I could give more than 5 stars, I certainly would.

The doctor, counselors, and nursing staff knew exactly what I needed, and they acted on it immediately. I was able to eat, walk around, and actually sleep throughout the process. A huge thank you to the doctor, Porsha, Alicia, and Mike (the skinny guy with the long hair)--your genuine concern and expertise made all the difference. While the snack cart takes a minute to get around, the staff is quick to help if you just ask. It's rare to find a place where everyone seems so genuinely concerned about your success. My only complaint would be the lax way they enforce their smoking policy. There's someone smoking right outside the ER entrance. You have to walk through that noxious cloud to get in the door. I would like to sit outside at the picnic table but there is too much cigarette smoke stinking up the place. There's very visible signage out there but no enforcement.

I have trusted Emory Johns Creek multiple times with imaging, and they continue to fail me. One time, the technician failed to take my allergy to contrast seriously. It was quite unfortunate seeing my clear bad reaction shrugged off, rather than... I don't know, following proper procedure and getting a doctor to evalute me? Most recently, the highly incompetent staff provided me an inaccurate estimate for my pre-payment amount. I am currently owed $125 by Emory and they have not provided this refund in a timely fashion. If you have to have anything done at Emory Johns Creek, please be careful with pre-paying. I know I personally will never pre-pay for another procedure within the Emory medical system after this nightmare of trying to obtain a refund of cash I am clearly owed.
