I don't know why anyone would go to CVS or Duane Reade when they could get their prescriptions filled by Rachel or Halina. These two amazing women are old school (not old!) pharmacists, who'll take time out of their extremely busy day to make sure you're taking your drugs properly. I had one Rx that could've damaged my liver if I'd had even a sip of alcohol--something my doctor hadn't bothered to tell me--and they made sure I knew. Everyone who works there is friendly and efficient. Plus, they have a great selection of upscale soaps and haircare product. The place is jam-packed, but the staff can locate anything in a flash. This pharmacy rules!! I absolutely LOVE the women here. Everyone is extremely helpful and always has the best reccomendations. They always remember me by name and I only go about once a month. It's so rare to find the small town charm in such a big city. Whenever I need my prescription refilled she greets me and fills it right on the spot, I dont even have to tell her what it is, she just knows. I never have had to wait more than 5 mins. Friendly, fast, and cheap! I used to fill my prescriptions at a RiteAid, but recently my doctor called in a prescription hehe. And I'm a convert! In the past 3 months, I had an opportunity to compare prices of two medications between Northside and my local RiteAid. None were covered by insurance and going with Northside saved me a lot of money. 1) Oral typhoid vaccine: $60 here vs $75 at RiteAid 2) Allergy medication, 2month supply: $35 here vs $180 (!) at RiteAid I'm a very happy customer. read more

Everyone is so nice and helpful. They always, ALWAYS take the time and help you find things, answer your questions (without making you feel like an ass), and give you advice. They are super quick with getting your prescriptions and when my insurance wouldn't cover something they gave me some tips to get them to cover it! First of all, congratulations to everyone at Northside on their new home. The space is beautiful and i hope you have many happy years there! I have been a loyal customer for more years than I can count (even when i lived in Park Slope) and will be for as long as I remain in New York. Halina and Rachel are the pharmacists of your dreams--warm, knowledgeable, efficient, and they always go the extra mile for their customers, old ones as well as brand new. They wrestle with all the sticky and incredibly boring insurance issues, an increasingly difficult and time-consuming aspect of all our lives but especially theirs, and still never pass the buck till they have done whatever they can do on their end. And in the midst of their busiest days they will still take the time to call and let you know if there's an issue with a refill, just so you won't make an unnecessary trip for an order they couldn't fill or that wasn't quite ready. So I've never written a review for any place other than a restaurant before, but I had to extend my review writing repertoire for Northside. The women who run this place are phenomenal. They are on a first name basis with most of their clientele, and when it comes to getting prescriptions filled, they go above and beyond to make sure your insurance (if you are so lucky) covers the cost for extra vacation pills and things like that. And the best part is, there is hardly ever a wait to get your prescriptions. The staff is warm and very helpful with questions one might have about their medication. This is my neighborhood pharmacy. It's very European and run by the nicest people on the planet who know who I am, my name, and ask how I am. It is so much nicer than going into a big CVS with a robot behind the counter. On several occasions, my doctor hadn't called in my prescription and the pharmacist gave me a few pills to hold me over. Another time, I forgot my wallet and she did the same. The pharmacist even wrote me note when my employer questioned me about an illness. They go above and beyond. Plus, their products are AMAZING. Best luxury brands and some regular brands too. They only stock the best things. And they give my dog treats. Northside might be my favorite place in the neighborhood :) I don't know how I'll ever go back to a regular pharmacy. read more

Northside is the best pharmacy in New York. Rachel and Halina are kind, helpful and knowledgeable. They will remember your name. They will help you out in a pinch. They speak three languages that I know of (English, Spanish, Polish). They will let you know if there's a less expensive alternative. Let's face it, the majority of today's doctors are basically glorified pharmacists (except pharmacists receive far fewer kickbacks). I've only been coming here for a few months, but I am very glad I opted for this place over the numerous chain drug stores in the area. First, aesthetically, the place is beautiful. It is a tastefully re-done old store front that reminds me of a shop from another era. Service is personal, quick, and they are always willing to go out of their way for you. I was prescribed the wrong size of a medication and one of the pharmacists phoned my doctor immediately and rectified the problem on the spot. One time I was looking for a cream to sooth an itch, and the nice girl came out from behind the counter and presented me with various options throughout the store. Also, they sell many natural health and beauty items for less than Whole Foods, Duane Reade, and CVS. I highly recommend this place. read more

You know-- where they actually KNOW what they are talking about and not just filling up little bottles? This is the sweetest little pharmacy. I lived down the street and used to walk there to pick up my meds. I usually never bought anything more than advil or cold meds because a lot of their hair care products are expensive but they have a really good selection. Also, a notary public works there and she is wonderful and keeps great hours. They always have my prescriptions ready 10 minutes after I call! read more

Good selection of cbd / oils etc. Popped in after getting off the L train at Bedford to grab a few things and ended up spending a little more because of their good selection of beauty products and household items and pleasant atmosphere. This pharmacy goes above and beyond what I ever thought a pharmacy could be. I started using it when I lived in Williamsburg and now that I've moved back to Manhattan I still go back to Williamsburg to use them as my pharmacists. The service is incredible - they will go above and beyond to help you with your medications, call your doctor, call your insurance, find you a coupon, etc. They have done this for me on several occasions, and it wasn't special treatment for return customers - they were this good from the beginning. And they are genuinely nice people. The prices on the products in the shop are also very reasonable, and they have a great selection, which they manage to fit in a modest but aesthetic and well-designed space. This place is top notch. This is truly the best pharmacy I have ever been to, including the entire Tri-state area! Agree with all of the positive reviews on this place. Owners/pharmacists are such good people. They do everything that you might have expected from a pharmacy 30 years ago. They know your name, your doctor, your prescriptions and have common sense - in cases where I haven't been able to call in my prescription or lost my suitcase (w/my pills), they've looked at my history and filled my prescription to get me through the weekend until I could get my doc on the phone. They also speak at least three languages (English, Spanish, Polish) and maybe more. They're open 7 days a week. I cannot say enough about them. Great people, should be supported. read more

The pharmacists offer very little help in advising customers about new prescriptions even though you must sign something stating that you were advised. I can get the same customer service in Greenpoint - meaning the full gala of Polish dismissiveness. Do not be fooled by this place either. Their products are much more expensive than the larger pharmacies around the corner. Listerine, toothpaste, etc....all much much more at Northside. Their "specialty" products can all be purchased in Greenpoint for half the price as well. read more

Northside Pharmacy is the perfect example of why locally-owned and operated businesses are superior to national chains. If you call, a real person answers and your question is sorted right away. If you go in and visit, the ladies are super-knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. In all the times I've gone to pick up a prescription, I've never waited more than 10 minutes dropping it off myself, and now that your Dr. has to call it in, I've never had to wait at all. Also, they have a wide selection of products, from the standard OTC brands that you know, to the harder-to-find natural and homeopathic choices that I often seek out.
