We had an enjoyable evening at NorthSouth Club over the weekend! We stopped by after dinner for a couple of drinks and shuffleboard. The ambiance is super cute with multiple lounge areas around the available games, which also include axe throwing. On a Saturday evening, it was definitely hopping but not too crowded which was nice! Service was friendly and fast - shout-out to Macy, who helped us set up shuffleboard and explained the game. She checked in on us multiple times during our visit - thank you! NorthSouth would be great for a date night or a group outing. They are also NA friendly which is great if you're visiting with family. We had a great first-time visit to NorthSouth Club. They have an excellent location, near good restaurants. The ambiance/vibe is great, especially when they can have the large garage doors open. The place is very clean, the equipment isn't shabby, and they have a large bar and offer minimal snacks. They also had very friendly service, and the pricing for 1.5 hours of deck shuffleboard per person was very reasonable. We visited in the early afternoon and were newbies playing deck shuffleboard. We received a quick how-to and then we were left to have fun. We had a great time playing and would return to play again. They have six deck shuffleboard lanes, and they take reservations. Axe throwing was fun but when I closed out during my company event, I got charged 22% for my tab. For eight beers I paid $74. All I had was highlife and bush light. They're ripping people off my boss paid $2000 for a group of 20 people to axe throw with a couple subpar appetizers. Not worth it. This was a really nice place to go with family. I have 3 young adult children. We really enjoyed the 1.5 hours of shuffleboard and would like to do the axe throwing next time. The staff was great from checking us in to the bartender who was quick to take our order. We had Spotted Cow, but we didn't eat this time around. So much fun! I came here on a Saturday night with family that was visiting town for the weekend. We were able to just walk in and get an open lane to try axe throwing! There was an instructor that explained how to throw the axe, and watched us each take a few practice shots before letting us go for it on our own. We struggled at first to get the axe to stick, but we eventually swapped out for a sharper axe, which was a game changer. We definitely improved as time went on! I also loved the North meets South concept of this place - Axes for North and Shuffleboard for South. Their cocktail menu was broken out with the same themes, super fun! Axe throwing of the north woods meets southern shuffle-boarding of the Florida retirees, and it was fun! This was an interesting concept, and executed well by the interior cabin-esque, palm tree accented space. I came here with a group of six on a Saturday night, having a reservation for 730. We arrived a little early to fill out the waivers (yes, you have to fill one out for shuffleboard). At first, I was not sure how the experience would go. Our reservation start time was running late, and it was difficult to be served at the bar. But around 745 a staffer found us and explained shuffleboard. The reservation of 90 minutes began and that was definitely enough time! Shuffleboard was really fun and surprisingly challenging. You get you own drinks from the bar (I hope they add more tap beers) and there are supes cute sitting areas by each shuffleboard lane. I would urge caution with the biscuits and that they can be difficult to stop. I saw a few fly off the lane and hit spectators' feet. Maybe a small installed lip would help to stop them. Towards the back are the axe throwing lanes, which I did not use, but would return to try. This was new experience, and I plan to come back in the summer when the garage doors are up! read more

NorthSouth club is a new bar that is just starting its soft opening (grand opening on August 3rd) and it is one of the most exciting places opening in Milwaukee! It is both an axe throwing space (north) as well as shuffleboard space (south) with a full bar. I got to go to a soft opening and was amazed at the space. First off, the space is huge! Very high ceilings, big open areas to gather, huge garage doors that open during nice weather... It's a really large open space that does not feel cramped in the slightest. Despite being so open it also feels extremely cozy. With hanging string lights and big couches you'll always find a comfy spot to lounge and either wait for your turn or just hang out. If you choose to do axe throwing or shuffleboard you have to check in first and sign a waiver. You may want to get there early to get it signed and order a drink or two while you wait. You will have someone explain the basics of axe throwing or shuffleboard rules depending on which you do. I did both, and it was a lot of fun! I'm not so good at either but it's definitely a good time. The owners of this bar also made Axe MKE so if you've been there and enjoyed the axe throwing you will like it at NorthSouth as it's the same. The bartenders were nice and attentive. As it's a soft opening they were all pretty new but they crushed it! Had so much fun with my friends and cannot wait to go back. read more

This place is so much fun! It has a really great and social vibe. They have both shuffleboard and Axe throwing which are both a great time, especially with a group of friends. First time coming here to "blow off some stream" after a tough day. Upon arrival the check in staff member was really welcoming and nice! We came earlier and she let us know we could walk around, grab a drink, or try other activities there while we waited for our lane to be ready. The bar wasn't too busy and some of the bartenders weren't that friendly which was a bummer. They didn't greet you right away or acknowledge you were standing there. I did finally get a good bartender who took care of me and remembered my name! That was a nice personal touch! Every time he saw me waiting he let me know he'd be right with me and remembered my order! Wish I remembered his name! Their drinks were reasonably priced! When we were placed at our lane Colin helped us throughout the whole process. He taught us how to throw the axe properly and gave us proper safety tips so we wouldn't get hurt. Very entertaining too! I upgraded for $10 to add confetti filled balloons to our lane. That was such a fun addition they offered! I loved the atmosphere here, it is so pretty!! The lightening and layout has a great feel to it. Will come back and bring some friends! read more

The shuffleboard here is actually quite fun, once you get the hang of the game. Axe throwing isn't for everyone, and you can really quickly realize that it's not as fun if you're not successful hitting the target (kind of like bowling). For a visit, I reserved a party for 12 to celebrate a birthday for axe throwing and shuffleboard. The reservation and arrangement of the lane was disappointing. The minimum reservation is for eight people and groups up to 16 only get one lane. The space between the axe lane and shuffleboard lane we were using was only 6 feet wide by about 12 feet long. So when everyone was active on something, it left very little room for us to navigate, and people were bumping into each other. We were asked on a few occasions to squeeze ourselves back together again when folks who were waiting starting standing near a lane that was next to us, even though that lane wasn't being used. Also, although we made a reservation for 12, one person did not show because of an emergency. The cashier would not change our price to account for one less person in the group, which was unfortunate. What made this worse is that the cashier said that we should have just reserved for the minimum and just accounted for the entire group when we arrived. It's disappointing to be changed for more people than active, especially when there's no change to the number of lanes we have, or the amount of time that we're able to use the lane. Overall the experience doesn't encourage me to go to any Bars and Rec venue moving forward. If you do decide to go, do yourself and under-reserve so you don't have to waste money. read more

north south club is the latest bar addition hopping on the axe throwing craze, but my favorite part is what it's added for its creative flare -- SHUFFLEBOARD. for what I found to be a fair price per person, you had an hour to spend with the sticks hurling the pucks back and forth on the large court. the friendly staff was quick to greet and teach the rules as well. only thing to consider is you max out with four people on a lane, so our group of six needed to be separated (on adjacent lanes so no biggie). I think shuffleboard will keep people returning vs axe throwing (which, while fun, in my opinion is something that loses its novelty after trying once or twice). drinks aren't cheap here but they have a full bar with anything you could ask for. normally pretty empty, but it might also be worth calling ahead and reserving a lane (because why not)! read more

We had an amazing time having my daughter's bachelorette party here. From the time we got there until the time we left, we all enjoyed the atmosphere, drinks, and snacks. Madeline was amazing as our axe throwing instructor. We all had flannels on and she wanted to match us so she threw on a flannel just for us. We had such a great time here last night. The building is well suited to safety in the Covid age. Large with super tall ceilings. Everyone has masks in the general areas. Started out with Axe throwing and Tristan was great setting us up. Had a blast. Then Colin showed us shuffleboard. So great to be able to have fun in a safe environment. We just had our 2nd event at the NorthSouth Club. The first one was Shuffleboard and the 2nd one was Ax throwing. Our group had the best time. The team, Miles, Molly and Rob from NorthSouth Club were awesome! Very friendly and accommodating. It is so well organized from the time you walk through the door. They walk you through the rules of the games, safety precautions, etc. You can order food and they have it all set-up and ready to go. They also have a large bar with cocktail and Mocktails. Meh. After a fantastic work related axe throwing event in Salt Lake City, we thought we'd try it again here in Milwaukee. As it turns out, the quality of your axe throwing experience is directly correlated to the quality of the facility and the personnel, both of which are weak at NorthSouth Club. Our alleged "host" barely spent 2 minutes teaching us how to throw, and then was impossible to find after he left. Why did we need to find him? Because of our group of 12 able men, only 1 could get an axe to stick more than once in dozens of throws. The lanes were also messy, and the boards were in terrible shape. When we did axe throwing in Salt Lake City, our host was with us the entire time, and made sure everyone could throw and stick an axe before we truly got started. She also helped us pick a variety of games and helped us keep score. NorthSouth offers none of this experience. Additionally, the food is atrocious. We got a charcuterie board, pretzels, and nachos. They are all awful. The nachos were nasty, the pretzels made no sense, and the charcuterie looked like it was assembled by someone who had never eaten from a charcuterie board. I'd give this place 1 star - but the beer was cold and the bathrooms were clean. Find somewhere else to learn how to throw axes and definitely don't bring a work event here. read more

The newest installment from the Bars and Rec Milwaukee entertainment/bar group, following Splash Studios, Nine Below and Axe MKE. This is another axe throwing range, in addition to adding a shuffleboard court and a full bar. There seems to be much more space here than at AXE, not to say that place was small, but there just seems to be more room to walk and spread out here. We came on a Saturday morning right at 11, so it was pretty dead, but we were able to get our choice of the axe ranges. It was only the 2nd time I'd done axe throwing, and it was just as fun. Everyone in my group enjoyed themselves as well. Service at the bar was fast, and they had quite an impressive craft beer list, specifically with WI beers. All the employees there were super friendly and helpful to myself and my friends. Sadly didn't have time to try the shuffleboard, but overall I had a great experience and would gladly return. That said, any experience of value starts with people... and they have a mistake within their ranks. Shawn spoke to us in a derogatory manner. Pre-judged us for some unknown reason? Explaining rules with swearing involved? Also, lecturing us in mask behavior while others were utilizing Nothing? Really confusing? We requested and were granted Jack.
