I don't know what has happened to this company in the last two years but it appears customer service is now non existent. We have purchased a lot of windows and doors from Northwest Exteriors in the last 15 years for two separate residences without incident. It was the reason we kept coming back. Michelle always kept us apprised of timelines, delays, etc. She must no longer work for Northwest because they don't call and when you call them you're still without answers. We purchased a bifold door that took much longer than anticipated to ship and then be installed. After install, we were told we couldn't use the door because the wrong panel shipped and there is no door handle. That was a month ago. No one has answers, no return calls, nothing. I guess we just wait another 4 months until the correct panel arrives. Was going to order a 2nd bifold and a patio cover but will look elsewhere. It's too bad Northwest Exteriors! read more

If I could give them ZERO STARS, I would. My husband and I reached out to this company in the beginning of November to do an estimate. The manager, Joey, came out to our house and did the estimate. We ended up ordering 2 sliding doors from them, but the estimated installation date was January 7th. Because of COVID, I figured delivery times are typically backed up so we didn't mind waiting. My husband called them on January 8th after we didn't hear from them. He spoke to Joey and he told him someone from the office should get back to him regarding the status of our install on Monday when they resumed normal business hours. Today 1/11, we called the office and spoke to a lady who told us the install was canceled in December and that Joey should have called us about it. So, my husband calls Joey and he told us that lady should have called us to tell us about the cancellation. We were just given the run around by this guy. My major issue is that we waited two months only to be told it was canceled after several days of the installation date. THEY HAVE WASTED OUR TIME AND RAN MY HUSBAND'S CREDIT FOR NOTHING. I would not do business with this company nor refer anyone to them. For a company with a 25 year reputation, you'd think they'd handle situations like this more efficiently and professionally. We were very pleased with the install of our back sliding glass door. It is oversized and needed a custom fit. It took a while to get the door (3 months) and it's fittings but I assure you it was worth every Penny! They made the entire area look brand new and clean. We absolutely love it. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE USE THIS COMPANY. EVER..... My wife and I made an agreement to purchase windows from this company in July or August of 2021 for a total more than $14,000. They finally came out to install in November to install the windows. When the windows were being installed the installer noticed that one of the screens was too tight and the other was ripped. He advised me that her would let the company know and that someone will come and fix it. No one ever called me to schedule an appointment to fix the screens. So in early January I called them to report that cold air was coming through one of my windows ( That Shouldn't Happen) and an appointment was finally set for Monday January 24th. The installation guy calls on Thursday January 20th to reschedule for the Tuesday January 25th. He didn't show up. I called the office, and was advised that they would be here 1st thing in the morning Thursday January 25th. No later than 10am. No one has shown up. I called again and the young lady on the phone advised me that the installer decided to do something else. If I don't work I don't eat, my family goes without. So I sat at home for 2 days when I could have been making money. I also had to reschedule a doctor's appointment, just for them not to show again. They have a recording that plays when they have you on hold that speaks of their great quality and customer service. DON'T BELIEVE IT. That has shown to be a huge lie. I'm pretty sure there are more reliable companies out there. I'm pretty sure that the same windows cost less somewhere else. Find that company. After I had rescheduled multiple meetings to make the appointment work, and notified them I was not able to receive a call on my cell at work but would be at the appointment. They then no-showed to the appointment but expected me to again reschedule my life around another appointment "because I was unable to confirm", despite having told them I wouldn't answer my phone but would be there on the original call. Ended up going with another vendor because reliability is important to me and I can't continue to reschedule my life around missed appointments and excessive confirmation requirements. read more

We had our windows replaced by Northwest Exteriors in 2008 in our Bakersfield home. The windows were well-priced, professionally installed, and worked and looked great! The efficiency of the new windows helped to decrease our heating and cooling costs. Another benefit of the new vinyl windows was sound reduction. The house was so much more quiet afterward. They are dishonest. My neighbor called me today and told me that they came to his house and tried to convince him to hire them to build their patio. They told my neighbor that they are the ones who did my patio a couple years ago and that they can give a discount if they use me as a "reference." Straight up liars. Too bad they looked dumb because my neighbor knew what company built my patio and called them out on it. Last fall, I was cold-called by three different companies trying to sell a combination of Tex-Coat paint, windows, and/or HVAC systems. I normally get pretty annoyed with telemarketers, but I happened to be in the market to begin renovations on my home, so I heard them all out and made appointments with all three for estimates. Company #1: Elite from Long Beach, Ca area was patronizing and disrespectfully tried to trick me into a crazy inflated quote, Company #2 flaked on their appointment and had to reschedule, and Northwest was #3. The salesman was respectful of me and let me guide the conversation with questions as opposed to forcing me to listen to a spiel. He worked out the prices of the 13 windows with upgrades including a pet door in my slider and this beautiful etched glass. His price was half of the 1st company, and he was also half as pushy. When Company #1 came back out to tried to convince me to go with them, the price was still way too high and he tried to bully me into a decision. When I refused to be bullied, he left, and I called my Northwest Rep back out and signed the contract. The installers were hardworking and respectful of my crazy house. They did a great job of installing the windows, though they did leave a few scraps of stuff behind, not a huge deal. My new Anlin windows are absolutely beautiful. I seriously walk by and stop to stare at them so often. There was a tiny scratch in one of them, and Northwest got in touch with Anlin and got us connected right away to have it corrected. I would definately advise people to use this company. read more

To me, going door-to-door to solicit business is not the right way to do things. Most times I tell the person I am not interested, they thank me, and leave. Unfortunately this person didn't accept that and still tried to get me to take a flyer from him. I told him to leave his flyer on my door step as I do not open my door to people I don't know due to safety concerns, but I would read it later. He then had to ask a question about windows, which I answered to get him to leave. Ironically I may have considered this company when I do decide to get my windows redone. But the way door-to-door sales is handled is a big turn off. read more

I would have given this company 5 stars as the Door and window they installed are just beautiful. The workers arrived without mask or shoe covering. I called the office and was told that I did not ask for mask and shoe covering when I scheduled the appointment. They sent 2 installer. Pat was very disrespectful. The window was above the tub, I worked in as he stepped in our tub with his work shoes and no protection for the tub (I took pictures). Incidentally our bathroom was recently renovated. He yelled at me that he just removed the protection he had in the tub. Our cleaners came a few days later and showed us the scratched and chipped area of the tub. We are still waiting for the company to respond. Additionally they are double charging us for paying with credit card. Again waiting for them to respond. I wish I could post pictures of both the beautiful door and window and the nastiness and damage. If you hire this company beware!!! Their COVID platitudes on their phone is just that. Do not schedule an appointment with this company! Dishonest and unreliable. Scheduled an appointment with them at Kern County Fair. They failed to show up on day of appointment. They called the next day and acted like they tried to call on day of appointment. Tried to reschedule and I said no. Three days later a person calls acting like I have another scheduled appointment for following Sunday. I was upset and made sure they knew I was not going to allow them to bid on my job. We had been shopping for Windows for over a year and had multiple bad experiences with no shows and poorly trained sales people. Then we were telemarketed by Northwest Exteriors and from the get go we were treated extremely well. The salesman showed up not only on time he was also very knowledgeable about all the products available. He left us with a written estimate and we were not pressured in the least. A week later he called back and followed up with us. We felt that the price was higher than the other estimates but we felt that we were getting a lot for our money so we went with them. The installation was smooth and clean and our installers were great. Our house was cleaned up and no mess was left. Now after several months of having the Windows we felt we made the right decision. It's taken me awhile to write a review. I had my windows and sliding glass door done in February. I choose Northwest because of the good Yelp reviews. They did excellent work and I'm very happy with the job that was done. The new windows have already helped my PG&E bill which will be important come summer. The first month - a partial month - my bill went down $50. Last month it went down $80 more dollars from the first month. Plus I really like the look :) Thank you Northwest! Me and the wife had just been talking about how hard it was to open the doors and windows and in the summertime on the south side of the house we just bake. their salesman came out showed us Anlin's window and all there bells and whistles Low _E, argon gas, easy clean glass and lifetime warranty etc. long story short we bought them and love them just like my buddy it was an awesome experience from start to finish. Don't fall for the scam and let these ppl in your home. Your better off going with a local window and door company. They give you this big spiel about how amazing they are, why they are worth the price. Blah blah blah. Then get you on the hero program. That's fine bc not many ppl have 20k+ laying around for windows. Being in California we were told we would get a tax return of a few thousand to make the payment on the windows and when we filed taxes we got $100! That's it! Now we are trying to sell our home a few years later and are being told we owe more now than what our initial contract states. It's such a hassle and not worth it at all! The patio is wonderful. And the big front picture windows and new sliding glass doors all look great....from the outside....the inside is still unfinished, I hope. They said they got the wrong color trim from the manufacturer and would be back to finish Friday....Today is Monday and I haven't heard anything. I can't start making and hanging curtains until the inside is done, and I can't leave it uncovered cause you can see right into the bedroom and living room. Salesman was slick and friendly, the workers didn't speak enough English to understand or answer any questions. Northwest Exteriors removed our old aluminum windows and replaced them with new top of the line Anlin Del Mar windows. Our house is a 3,400 sq. ft., 2-story with 21 windows, so the job was not easy to do in one day. Northeast made it look easy and even though the installers had to stay until 7, Jason, Sean and Chris put in the work and got it completed in a day. The outcome was fantastic! The price was reasonable considering the size of the job, and well worth the cost. There was a manager that showed up 3 times to make sure everything was going according to plan and answered all of our questions. All of the workers were respectful, hardworking and made us feel like our satisfaction was important to them. The next day the general manager Jimmie Brown came out and did a walk around to make sure that everything was to our satisfaction. There was one minor pricing issue that came up at the end of the job and the Jimmie worked with us to arrive at a good compromise. I would highly recommend Northwest to anyone. They deserve their good reputation and are very professional. We got three other bids and one was cheaper, but it was well worth the extra money to have reliable, guaranteed work done by a company that cares about their customers. The sales person Ty came to our home on a Friday to explain what Northwest is all about and what programs could help us save energy through window replacement. We agreed to hear him out since we need to replace two small bathroom windows that the previous owners didn't upgrade unlike the rest of the windows. Well it turns out that Ty only explained the HERO program which we qualified for, but the only reason we even agreed to enter our info was because he kept saying he couldn't do an estimate of the price until we went ahead and entered to see if we qualified for the HERO program. We did qualify. Then he went ahead and measured out the windows and said it would cost $20,000 to replace! BUT with a discount that only they offer it would come out to $14,000. We said we were still going to think about it over the weekend. He said there was a 3 business day time frame in which we could cancel. After he left our home around 7pm, we noticed that on the form with the windows measurements that there was no price per window! So he basically just wrote a "discounted" price and a pretty steep one, based on what? I guess on the amount of commission he wanted to make! Then on the cancellation form he wrote down the following Monday as the last day to cancel! Giving us 1 business day to cancel. What happened to the 3 business days?! I guess he was hoping to tricks into the contract by giving us less time to catch his sneaky work. And to top all of this shady actions, during the explanation of the HERO program he said our first payment wouldn't be due until a year from the installation day, which is important for us since we are remodeling the whole house and we have a budget to work with, plus I explained to him our future plans for the fall in regards to school and jobs and how we don't need unnecessary bills. He made sure to calm our fears by saying over and over again that we won't have a payment until A YEAR! Well, when everything was set and signed, he says " oh, your first payment will be the amount of the first 6 months. So start saving towards that first payment." What the f@$#! I can not believe how this guys works!!!! I called the main office in Rancho Cordova on Saturday (which the way, he was only there cause he had someone meeting him but the office was technically closed) and the man who I spoke with agreed with all my concerns, I also spoke with the Fresno office and they also agreed with me. However, when I spoke to the manager in the Bakersfield location in which Ty works from, the manage defended Ty and said that by CA's law, Sunday is the only non business day.... ummm but your office isn't even open on Saturday. Point of all this long story, be AWARE! Don't fall for the lies these sales representatives tell you, no matter how nice they seem! There are so many more programs to help homeowners that many other (honest) contractors can also access, and if they won't give an estimate before you are forced to apply for any program, then they will most likely rip you off! read more

A salesman from Northwest Exteriors showed up at my door one evening trying to drum up business. He explained a new Government financing program called HERO that provided low cost loans to finance energy saving home upgrades. We were told that all of our windows that were not "energy efficient" would need to be upgraded to qualify for the financing and an inspector from HERO would come to audit our home to insure that was being done. Northwest Exterior's program required that we sign a contract that evening to qualify for their 'first call' discount or the price would go up approximately $7K. Against my better judgment, I signed. When I investigated the HERO program the next morning I discovered we did NOT have to upgrade all of our windows to qualify for the HERO financing. It is possible to finance as little as one project or as many as you qualify for, your choice. When the salesman finally got back to me I was told I "misunderstood" what he had said. Then he tried to say he didn't understand the program. Then he tried to say he would provide even further discounts to keep the job. I can probably assume there would have been no HERO inspector/auditor ever show up at our house either. As always, use EXTREME caution when contractors come a calling... You have three days to cancel their contract without penalty and it needs to be in writing. Mail or e-mail will work. read more

These guys did a door-to-door sales blitz in the neighborhood. My father, who is 80 and living alone, fell for the sales pitch and bought $9,000 worth of windows + labor. Later, Kern Home Improvement: a business who is only 2 1/2 years old showed up at his doorstep and sold him a new roof. Kern Home Improvement was recommended to my father's address by NW Exteriors. Hmmmm. Wonder why? I don't know how these guys can sleep at night. To me, it's obvious they were taking advantage of a gullible senior citizen. Obviously, the elder care issues are a separate issue that my sister and I need to address. But SHAME ON YOU, Northwest Exteriors! Why can't you acquire customers through a more honest and less pressure-intensive means? If disoriented 80 year olds are the only people buying your products and your labor, I'm guessing you won't be around for long. I hope other businesses don't take advantage of YOUR parents like you did to my father. You really should be ashamed. read more

Hubby and I decided to take advantage of the HERO program and do some much needed energy upgrades to our 50+ yr old house. New windows were a no-brainer, so I called a few places to get quotes. I had educated myself on the cost and installation charge for Anlin and Milgard windows, so I knew what to expect. Northwest sent their salesman, Todd, to my house to give an estimate. He didn't try to hard sell me at all, and his quote was very good. So good, in fact, I called him back the next day, and we 'doubled' our order to replace all the windows. As anyone who's ever done home improvements knows, you almost brace yourself in anticipation of being screwed in some way during the process. Northwest was so easy to deal with! Everyone we dealt with was courteous and professional, appointment times were honored, and I never had a hard time contacting anyone. It took about a month for our windows to be made and shipped, but they were installed the next business day. The installer, Tomás, did a very good job. It took two days, because he actually had to do some wood fabrication to install an oversized sliding door. He sealed the windows well, and installed trim/finish to make them look great. He cleaned up after himself, and explained how the mechanisms work for each window. Our oversized sliding door seemed hard to open and close, and with one call to the office, the installer came back out to troubleshoot. He really tried everything he could to make it roll easier, but it's tremendously heavy. Tomás promised me that with use, it would roll easier, and that does seem to be the case (or my arm is just stronger now), so we are happy with it.
