Honestly insane experience…read more Walked in to two receptionists trying to answer the phone. The male receptionist is being really rude to the Korean woman receptionist. I felt so uncomfortable right away because his attitude towards her was awful. Then I filled out my form and gave it to the male. He calls me over and immediately after I tell him why my doctor referred me he goes "we don't do that here, you need an ophthalmologist" so you're telling me, my NEUROSURGEON referred me to the wrong type of eye doctor? And in addition you don't test pressure behind eyes?? Isn't that like a common part of ANY eye exam? These people actually called me after my doctor made the referral. So they saw my reason for being referred, called me to schedule, just to tell me they can't help. INSANE.

Place was clean and welcoming. The doctor was fast yet efficient which was nice. They have this new technology where they hold up the iPad/tablet to your face with the frames on. It takes your measurements instead of relying solely on self measuring. That way it's accurate, HOW COOL IS THAT! My glasses came in so fast too not the week they had originally given me. My only down side would be not having a hard case or glass cleaner pad when given the glasses. It comes in a baggie and apparently the baggie can be used to clean it as well which didn't quite work for me. Luckily I have an old cleaner that works fine. Would still definitely recommend!

Today's appointment I saw the "guest doctor" and I'm sad I didn't get his name but he was just as warm and friendly. The ease of my appointments are always unmatched. After procuring my new prescription I naturally browsed the selection of frames in LensCrafters which is always abundant with what is trending and also classic style frames. The brand selection is always top notch and everyone is beyond helpful with recommendations. Fran and Nikki helped me pick my frames and did an amazing job. Two years ago I had trouble scheduling an appointment on their website because we have a larger family than their system would accommodate, I called to ask for help scheduling direct with them and was refused service and directed back to the website that wasn't working for me.. We didn't get in that year as a result. A year later I needed to get in before my insurance changed. I went on their website to give them a second chance. Scheduled the appointments. A day or two before I realized I hadn't gotten an appointment reminder, so I called them and was told we didn't have appointments and that "sometimes the appointments in our system don't go through." they rescheduled me to the Puyallup location. That was fine. My son needed a diabetic eye exam which I Scheduled that at the same time and provided my sons medical insurance at the time of booking. Two weeks later, on Friday afternoon, I got a call letting me know they needed a referral from my kids doctor that day or they would reschedule the appointment. "I don't understand, I gave you the insurance information 2 weeks ago, why am I only hearing back now?" to which she replied, without empathy or apology "Do you want to reschedule or not?" this place is just not worth it. GO ELSEWHERE.

Every minute I was here was well spent, and I walked away with a corrected eyeglass and contact prescription (a previous store overcorrected my eyes). The manager looked at my insurance with me to make sure I was getting the best deal possible (I had to choose between using my insurance for my glasses or contacts). The doctor here is very good and provides a wealth of insight to help take care of eyes. Overall I feel satisfied with America's Best. Tacoma Family Eyecare is located in the optical section of the Tacoma Costco (37th Street). They…read morehave appointment booking capability from their website, however, I was already at Costco when I decided to pop in to make a new patient appointment. They were able to get me in within the same week! The receptionist was helpful and friendly, with the ability to answer my questions regarding insurance and what the eye exam entailed. I opted for an appointment that would give me both my glasses and contact prescription. The day of my appointment, I filled out a quick questionnaire to establish my care as a patient, and one of their techs performed the initial eye exam ($40 out of pocket, covered by certain insurances, but a very important eye exam as it checks your eye health). Dr. Kathy Kim was the optometrist I saw the day of my appointment. She began with asking if I had my glasses with me ('dOh, I forgot to bring them!) but I was able to tell her the power of each eye from a prescription from 1.5 years ago before I moved to Tacoma. Th usual eye exam commenced, with having to read the letters with one eye, and then the other. Dr. Kim mentioned the slight astigmatism that I've heard I've had for a while, but hadn't been corrected by other optometrists/ophthalmologists. She gave me the option to do the regular contacts I was accustomed to, but also suggested trying toric contact lenses to adjust for the astigmatism. Dr. Kim explained that these type of lenses would reduce squinting, and help with driving at night, reducing glare. Her receptionist was able to give me trials for both the regular contacts with my updated prescription (same day), and ordered trial torics which came in several days later. What I loved about Dr. Kim was her demeanor. She was professional, and able to build a great rapport during the quick 15 minute exam! She allowed me to look at the eye health screen (your vision is priceless, it's worth the $40!) and let me know that they have a 90 day follow up policy to have the lenses adjusted, should I not love the trials before ordering my contact supply. 5/5 highly recommend! (P.S. I don't believe you need a Costco membership to utilize this clinic in Costco).
