We came here recently after a not so good visit at another office. A previous doctor told us our son would need glasses after one exam and wanted us to purchase them right then and there. He had one eye that was slightly off, however, he had no complaints about his vision. Anyway, we came here and saw Dr. McHugh. She was extremely friendly and thorough. She was great with our son, and asked him exactly what problems he had, which he told her were none right now. He totally understood he may need glasses one day, and she did tell us the one eye was just slightly off being 20/20, but that there was no reason to go right to glasses yet, especially with as expensive as they can be. She did all the needed tests, filled out his high school form, and even had them make a copy to have in his file, just in case we needed it again. I felt that she took her time, explained what she was doing to him, and he was comfortable as well. The office staff was pleasant, we didn't have any problems with the desk staff. We will definitely be staying with this doctor/office for all our future needs. read more

Dr Rice-Kelly and ALL of her staff is extremely professional and kind. Every time we're there they go above and beyond your normal eye exam for glasses. One a specific occasion the doctor found an issue with my son's eyes and referred me to a specialist. If not for Dr. Rice-Kelly we would not have caught an issue requiring surgery. Terrible. I went here as a child (about 15-17 years ago) and remember it being okay, although my mother told me otherwise. I returned recently since my boyfriend needed glasses and an exam and I was somewhat familiar with this place. He was pleased with the exam but when it came time for glasses shopping the staff was not helpful, seemed annoyed, and didn't get up from their seats to help. They were not accomodating or willing to go the extra mile for my boyfriend who has a large head since hes a big guy (6"3) and help him get frames that legitimately fit his face. I also wear glasses and was due for a pair and when I found one I was in love with I went to the desk and asked them if they could jot down the style # for me so I could remember it when I got my new prescription. In response I was asked about what type of insurance i had, where my card was, if i had a copay, if i had a file here, and other financial questions by this one Russian or some kind of eastern european woman who frankly, is very rude. She ended up not writing this style down or helping me because she told me i did not have the insurance information she needed (i am insured but i guess what i presented her wasnt sufficient but then again why do you need my insurance info if i want a style #?) anyway i came back about a month later hoping to buy those glasses the rude woman didnt help me with and when i came back she had no idea what i was talking about. she told me i should have asked whoever was in the time i was in prior to write down the style # so it would be easier to find. i told her i did ask someone and actually i asked YOU and you wouldn't write it down because you found some discrepancy with my insurance. Now they were nowhere to be found and she was far from helpful in searching for them...this woman is rude. we managed to stay out of there for a while and returned recently when my boyfriends 300+ dollar glasses broke (that he bought tehre) because a screw came off and the arm bent. She half-heartedly looked over it and handed the glasses back and said she was sorry but tehre was nothing she could do for us (we then went down the street to a place by the HIP who went above and beyond in an attempt to fix his frames). instead she again asked my boyfriend for his most recent insurance, his card, what payment plan he has, HSA, etc. Mind you he always pays upfront and we have no outstanding balance that would warrant this many questions. instead of trying to fix them she was pushing a new appointment on him and some new glasses and said that she could have him go in right now but he'd pay out of pocket because his plan changed at work #shady. when we denied wanting an appt, i asked her what the plan was because the only contacts he had were in his eyes and it was the weekend. she said she couldnt do anything for us because his prescription was expired by a month and she couldnt give him contacts to hold him over. this woman is so rude, lazy, unable and unwilling to help and frankly a little bit dumb i believe as she had a dead fish in a bowl in front of her which i pointed out to her and she countered me and told me that's just how beta fish act...no... read more

After my lasik surgery, in order to keep the warranty on the lasik procedure, I am required to see an optometrist annually. I've been a patient of Dr. Rice-Kelly for two year now and I absolutely love coming here. She is very personable and knowledgeable. She likes to keep her patients well informed and because of this, wait time is quite long. I've been in the office 3 times in two years and each time I've had to wait awhile to be seen. But once you're in the room with her, her number one concern is you and you will have her full attention. read more

This review is on the staff. The staff is horrendous! I saw them scold an elderly women about a bill then talked about her after she left, then the other people leaving, they complained about their children, we could hear it all. WOW! who does that!!!!!! And this is a professional doctors office? Then it was our turn, rude, mean, inconsiderate, and let me know we were taking to long picking out glasses. High quality and wonderful service. I read some of the other reviews on here and was confused to how someone could put this place down. Doctor Rice is an extremely personable and experienced doctor who cares about her patients. The interior design is beautiful and they carry popular and quality frames. As to the negative reviews, I wouldn't stake your judgement on one bad experience because you would definitely be missing out on the great eye care you could be getting here. read more

Update: What a difference from 4 years! Today I went in for a strange lump I have under my eye and it's been getting bigger called to make an appointment last week and they gave me an appointment for 4:30 walked into the office at 4:20 and the receptionist said " Your 4:30 appointment will be later there are 4 people before you" I explained that I had a physical therapy appointment at 5:15 and can't wait she then tells me "well you can come in March 31st". Really?! You can't give me a courtesy call to let me know you are running late instead let come in then give me an option to come back 10 days later! It's not like I'm coming in for a check up! I told the receptionists that's ok I'll find another Doctor. Both couldn't care a less! Very disappointing! I would recommend finding a Doctor who's front desk people can at least pretend they care! read more
