Response to Mike's response, starting from the bottom up: If you have such an "awesome" attitude, how come fully half of your Yelp reviews are from customers giving you low ratings for customer service (this includes the one "not recommended" - because the reviewer isn't very active on Yelp - review)? I called you on a Saturday, using the number associated with your business, because you advertise Saturday hours. I called to ask you if there was anything I could do to mitigate the bleeding of the grout before you were coming out again to finish, as you said you would do. I wanted to know if I had to act quickly, since you had just done the work the day before. After listening to your diatribe for 15 minutes (something your other negative reviews also note you do), as well as your telling me you weren't going to fix it for free (something I never suggested), you finally answered the question. Now I see that you apparently knew by then as well as the 2 subsequent times you promised me you would be back out that you were never going to return. We did nothing to the bathroom floor and told you when you did the estimate that we had no idea what our contractor had done. We did not know the issue with that floor was haze. That's your job to know and in your response, you say you only realized it when you arrived after your tech had tried and failed to remove it. When you mentioned you needed Blaze, we told you we had it - we had used it to remove haze from glass tile elsewhere in the house. If you had figured out and told us from the beginning that the floor had haze, we would have produced the Blaze from the get go. If you didn't know that was the issue, how can you expect us to? And no, you did not remove all of it - there is still haze around the tub and toilet. But, now that we know that's what it is, we'll remove it ourselves. I would have had no problem with your using epoxy bond on the shower floor. The problem I had was that your tech could not tell us what color it would dry at. He showed it to us in powder form and only said it would look lighter. Why wouldn't you have brought a sample of the finished product so we could be sure it would be a close enough match to the grout already in there? When I suggested this on that Saturday phone call, you agreed to do that. But, of course, you had no intention of returning. As for all the chips in the countertop: I've since had someone else come to repair them. He explained to me that all the tiny ones were just minor, would not grow, and were part of the manufacturing process. That was a very satisfactory answer, so there were only 3 chips for him to do. It's too bad you either didn't know that, or didn't bother to explain it to me. I am not a perfectionist, but as I'm sure most homeowners feel, I want the people who do work in my home to be. In your response you admit that you are content to merely do work that would "make most people happy." Thank you. I'm now relieved you never came back. read more

We hired Mike to service every tile and marble surface in our house, and he did an amazing job. Our walk-in shower was badly in need of tile repair on many surfaces, and he repaired it to better-than-new condition. In addition, he removed nearly 20 years of haze from the shower walls. They look better than ever. He removed a messy grout mistake from around our soaking tub and regrouted everywhere. It looks clean and neat, and best, is now fully protected. He carefully cleaned and sealed our Roman tile entry, hallway, and powder room, taking special care with the travertine transitions. Very good work done, we had our new granite sealed. Only reason this isnt 5 stars is because I really had to fight (practically beg) for an appointment. Email after email, call after call, I didnt get an appointment for weeks. Appointment rolls around, guy is nice and on time. Then it's another couple weeks before I get the invoice. I realize the owner is handling everything, but as far as customer service goes.. theres definitely room for improvement. read more

I highly recommend Mike (now doing business as Northwest Tile and Stone Care). I hired him to seal the granite in my new home after I stained it so that I could avoid future stains. He could have removed the stain for me and charged me for it, but instead, on his own time and at no cost to me, he taught me how to do it myself. He was giving with his time and advice after normal business hours even though he had a newborn baby at home. He did a great job sealing the granite and again gave me some excellent advice on maintaining it. I think he's great and I'd use him again in a heartbeat. read more

We used Clean Grout a couple years ago to clean and treat our tile and granite surfaces. He did a good job so we called to have him come back to do this again for us. We called him 3 times. The first contact, he was driving and said he'd call us back. He didn't. We left 2 subsequent messages for him and he didn't call us back. He did call us back after I left a 4 message for him telling him about his poor customer service, that evidently he didn't need our business and that we were calling other grout cleaners. I was on the phone with I for approx 15 minutes. During this conversation he tried to blame us first (we told him we were going to be out of town and to call and leave a message - which he did not). Then he launched into how busy he is with a 1,000 customers and that the work is hard, he has to work 12 hours a day and is tired when he gets home. I told him I DON"T CARE!!! As a customer, I don't care what his circumstances are. He chose this business. And at the VERY LEAST he could have done and kept our business now and in the future, was to call us back. Very simple. The only reason I'm giving the rating I'm giving is due to the complete LACK of customer service after the job was done. The initial bathroom cleaning was amazing and we were very satisfied with the job that had been completed. Unfortunately after the job was done a piece of grout that had been redone popped out of the floor. We called Mike about the problem asking him to come by and take a look which he said he would. This took him at least two months to do. I can understand being busy, but his lack of communication with us was absolutely horrible. WE had to keep calling him to find out if or when he was going to come out. I would have rated Clean Grout Northwest a 5 out of 5, but the horrible customer service after the job was done ruined my experience. read more

I contacted Mike at Clean Grout NW after being referred to him by Shoomadoggie in Poulsbo. I had discolored tiles on my shower floor, and Mike did two things to earn my 5-star rating. First, over the phone he taught me how to clean my shower drain myself in case that fixed the problem. It didn't, but it saved me from having to call a plumber. Second, he came to look at the problem and showed me a popular online forum so I could see how common this situation is and how it isn't worth spending a fortune to rip out my shower floor.
