    Swim Lessons

We've had a great experience at the YMCA. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by friendly staff. My husband and I use the gym regularly, and it's always clean. If something needs to be fixed, it's taken care of quickly. The gym has everything you need: machines, a few squat racks, free weights, a Smith machine, and a decent-sized cardio area with a good variety of equipment. The only thing I wish they had is a chest fly machine. There are classes going on all the time, and there's a turf area where your child can play while you work out. The turf has outdoor toys, ride-on vehicles, and large Legos, which is a great setup. We use the kids club for our daughter, and she loves it and always has fun. Childcare was the main reason we chose this gym since no other gyms in Cupertino offer it, and it ended up being an amazing decision. Our daughter also does swim lessons here. Brian is very patient and makes her feel comfortable in the water. She has learned how to float, hold her breath underwater, and is beginning to swim. She used to hate swimming, and now she looks forward to going every week.

Just started going to the YMCA. This one is in Cupertino, and is imo the best, compared with the SJ, Mountain View, and even Palo Alto west locations. The gym has lots of great equipment, both cardio and anaerobic. There are two power lifting stations for those who got work to do on the olympic bar. However, by far the best PERK at the Northwest YMCA is the pool. Super clean, space for lap swimmers (please mind the etiquette of either splitting the lane, or swimming in counter clockwise fashion) and a separate section for kids/kids classes. The memberships are quite affordable, and you can go to any of the YMCA-SV locations. Highly recommended to anyone who is getting started or returning to the fitness journey.

One of the best YMCA locations in the Bay Area, it's new and clean. I particularly appreciate the locker rooms and the pool. While I haven't explored the machines, weights, and workout areas yet, they seem to offer a good variety of equipment. My only complaint would be the low and weak water pressure in the showers. I understand this is likely due to water conservation efforts, but it results in longer showers, negating the intended savings.

We tried the swimming class here and it was too crowded. Class sizes are big and not much one on one attention. Cleanliness of the facility is an issue too. We ended up going to another swim school. The gym is nice though and has great equipment.

A warm space with a friendly vibe. If you want a communal environment with a variety of offerings to explore in the health, wellness and fitness area this place definitely meets and exceeds those expectations. The staff are friendly and very helpful. They really take the time to answer questions. They are also constantly offering new types of classes including aqua yoga, RPM, GRIT (interval training) and BodyFlow. This specific YMCA has high quality yoga, taiji (tai chi), and qigong instructors. They are all extremely knowledgable and teach to the students; not just instruct a choreography. A steal in comparison to other gyms with what you pay for -- swimming pool, gym with functional strength equipment.

Hello! I've had some bad experiences with open showers, nothing personal, but some people are really disgusting. My question is this, are there open showers or semi-private showers? At least sections that cover person to person? Thanks

Take a tour and you'll see there are private shower stalls (handicap accessible) as well as a row of open showers. This is in both male and female locker rooms.

There is never judgment from the staff or the people who work out. I love them all. I am proud to call this gym my gym and I'm so happy to be part of this community. Are the equipments best in class? No. But I will come here because of the people and honestly - to be fit all you need are free weights, cardio equipment, and a little help from your friends. The trainers are always so helpful and the manager, Nico is so fun and friendly. For training I recommend Edwin. He has the most transformative training I've ever seen. I have seen his clients transform to their goal body. He takes his job seriously, corrects you while training and understands that proper form is key. He's given me tips and has also helped me transition my training to something suited and better for me and I've seen changes in the way my body respond! So- kudos to Edwin! The front desk staff from Chloe, Mayra, Lance, Andy, and Rishi are so approachable and always there with a smiling face. Jose Luis - the trainer's manager is also super helpful! Sometimes- it isn't about the equipment - it is about the people you surround yourself with that genuinely roots for you that makes a place a second home. Yes, this is my second home. I assumed it was something her new teachers say, but she quickly corrected me: "No, no, Andrea says hurry up!" She then went right back to playing, laughing and calling out, "hurry up hurry up!!" That moment alone speaks volumes about how much Andrea means to my daughter. She started at Happy daycare when she was just 1.5 years old. As a first-time mom, I cried on her first day, and Arti sat with me, gently reassuring me that we just needed to give her time to build trust. I can't express how much it meant knowing they understood this was her first time away from home. Within a week, the tears stopped. On her last day, I was the one still in tears because Andrea wouldn't be caring for my little girl anymore. Andrea is incredibly kind and patient. She cared for my daughter with so much warmth that even on weekends, my little one would ask to go see her and this happened more times than I can count. I never had to worry about food it was all taken care of at the daycare. During a medical emergency with my daughter, both Andrea and Arti stayed with her until I arrived, then remained by my side as we figured out the next steps. My daughter still misses Andrea to this day, and I know she will for a long time.
