As a father of four children, I appreciate great medical care, a comforting office presence, and a warm atmosphere where people know us and offer a personal touch. This practice has always provided those things to me and my family. I do not typically write Yelp reviews (usually only when horrified, angry or exceptionally pleased). I am writing because this is MY family's practice and I am an educated consumer: -- my children get exceptional care here --my wife and I get to talk to warm, patient practitioners and staff and share our concerns --they know my family and treat us like family --the interactions that I witness while at NWCP are positive, engaging events where people are smiling and reassured and content There is a lot of nonsense posted here. I realize that it is impossible to vet every review, and no practice is perfect. Dr. Weissbluth (senior) seemed like a good man and we enjoyed his guidance with sleep training. He did not leave the practice-- he retired. His son briefly joined the practice and then left to start his own shop. We never saw the junior Weissbluth and cannot comment on his competence or bedside manner. We have seen the rest of the doctors and nurses who work at NWCP over the past many years and we love the practice. Our kids like going to see the doctor. They have the typical "small town" relationship with their pediatricians that my wife and I did growing up. They are warm, intelligent people who love children and love their job and craft. They appear to adore my children and that makes me happy. The care we've received from the mundane school physical to more acute illnesses has been wonderful. I still remember Dr. Li calling daily (for 3 days!) just to check in after a scary pneumonia in our oldest child. This is a practice that has a long history of caring deeply about the community in which they live and serve. You won't find a better practice in Chicago. End of story. read more

Love this practice and its staff. They've all been nothing but very professional and cordial every single time we've had to bring our children for a visit. We've been going to NCP for almost ten years now and to this day, I don't have any negative comments to make about this practice. On the contrary, I am more than ecstatic to say that they've been very dedicated and have always been there for our family health issues. Our girls see Dr. Unger and she is phenomenal, my girls love her and they have built a good relationship with her. On a second note, I have never frequent any physicians who have been willing to give out their cell numbers, I have theirs. How awesome is that? When Dr. Unger wouldn't be available, the other physicians and/or nurse practitioners have done an amazing job to take care of our girls. We have never felt rushed through any of our appointments. Actually located on the first floor of this building on the Lake Shore Drive side. I cannot say enough good things about this office. My (soon to be 3 year old) daughter has been seeing going here since birth, and they are efficient, and friendly. The nurse practitioners and doctors that we have seen have all been wonderful. My daughter sees Dr. Hirsh, and loves her, actually likes going to the doctor. She is fantastic with kids. One thing to note, is that they have special times (in the morning) for sick child visits every day (including weekends) that require no appointment. I highly recommend this practice. read more

**I DO NOT recommend Dr. Daphne Hirsh. Normally we see Dr. Aaron King (who is very nice, always does a thorough job and has a good rapport with my kids), but today we went in for a sick-child drop in. We were seen by Dr. Daphne Hirsh. I found her overall bedside manner to be rather cold and brusque, and she didn't spend very much time with us (less than one would expect from a doctor, as opposed to a nurse). My son was diagnosed with strep throat and an ear infection. She gave me a paper prescription--when I asked if she would call it in to the pharmacy to save us time and get my son the medicine as quickly as possible, she responded that "No, they (pharmacies) make us wait on hold for a long time. Are you kidding me? THAT'S HER JOB. Rather than be inconvenienced in the slightest, she'd rather have us drive to the pharmacy, drop off the prescription and wait. Which we did. On top of this, they neglected to weigh my son at the appointment, so when I mentioned my concern about that to the pharmacist (questioning whether or not that was an important factor in prescribing the appropriate dosage of medicine to my child), the pharmacist of course called Dr. Hirsh to double-check the dosage. Dr. Hirsh was then completely rude to the pharmacist. Unbelievable. Bottom line: This practice is very hit-or-miss. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT see Dr. Daphne Hirsh. read more

I have to say I'm new to yelp and after reading these reviews had to post one myself. First of all, I'm shocked but some of the negative reviews--I have nothing but positive things to say about this group. Second of all I'm even more shocked by some of the positive reviews for Daniel Weissbluth. We've been with the practice many years and the only time I had a bad experience was because of him. If the nurse practitioner had not taken it upon herself to call Dr. Sharma at home to get another opinion, I shudder to think of what could have happened to our child because of his lack of basic medical knowledge. I was extremely happy when I heard he left and I think it says a lot that he left on his own, taking no staff, even his father remains with this practice. That being said, I was initially referred here by my ob/gyn who told me her whole group goes to this practice. They have a great new office, that is very kid friendly and offers parking in the building. The walk-in has saved us many trips to the emergency room. I've seen world renowned specialists at Children's Memorial who have reinforced the excellent quality of staff at this practice and even know most of them by name. I noticed the complaints about reception but they've never been less than cordial. Frankly I could care less if the receptionist smiles--I bring my children here for the excellent medical care by the doctors and nurse practitioners and that is what I've always received. read more

I've been taking my daughter to this practice since she was born, and we're very happy with it. As first-time parents, we don't always know what we're doing. But we DO know that we can call the practice any time with concerns or questions. The doctors and nurses are very responsive and accommodating. Every time we've needed to get in, they make it happen on the same day. Our primary doc is Dr. Hirsh, but we've worked with many others (and NPs as well). All are great. read more

I can't believe I've waited this long to write my review! But I haven't been on Yelp since my wedding and I signed on today specifically to write this review. I was referred to Dr Daniel Weissbluth by several friends before the birth of my son last 4th of July. I trusted their opinion so I never bothered to even look anyone else up. I feel like we won the lottery with this doctor! He has always been so wonderful with my son, and my husband and I both felt comfortable with him from day 1. I'm a first time mom and I can be a bit neurotic about things--he always listens to me, addresses my concerns and never makes me feel embarrassed about it. All visits have been relaxed and I never feel rushed. With his help, I was able to sleep train my son effortlessly and even share his tips with friends who've had success as well. I enjoyed the Friday morning New Parent meetings and attended them quite a bit when he was first born. Lots of helpful tips from Dr. Marc Weissbluth--it felt like meeting pediatric royalty. ;) When my son was 3 months old, we moved out of the city and to the suburbs about 40 minutes away. If anyone knows Chicago traffic, 40 minutes can sometimes turn into 90 minutes. Even so, we STILL take our son to Dr Daniel Weissbluth because I absolutely trust him with my son. I admit it's tough to get there for sick visits, but most of the time I can contact Dr Weissbluth for a speedy response or contact one of the nurses and they'll talk me through everything. My son had the flu last week and the nurses were patient with me, talking me through everything on several phone calls without having to put my baby with 102 fever in the long car trip. I've also seen several NP's there for different reasons and I've been very pleased. A few months back, I contacted Dr Weissbluth with a concern and received a follow up call a few days later from him directly----he just wanted to check on him. We also had an issue when my son was around 6 months old and I was confused on how to proceed. Dr Weissbluth layed out all the options for me and was very helpful with getting what I needed for insurance approval. I cannot imagine trusting my son with another doctor. I imagine we may eventually have to find someone in the suburbs--especially if we have more kids--but I have very high standards now and plan on staying with him as long as we can. To address some of the negative comments from other reviewers...... Reception: I admit they've never had any small talk with me, but they've always been professional and done their job. I've never even thought there was anything wrong with them at all. So they don't ask me about the weather or my favorite sports team......big deal! That's not why I'm there anyway. Parking: I have never had a problem with the $10 valet parking at The W Hotel just 2 short blocks away. I've never waited more than 5-10 minutes for my car. And there is a little waiting room with a TV and a bathroom to wait in while you 're there if it's too cold or too hot outside. Oh--and free water bottles! So...I have recommended several friends to this practice (and Dr Daniel Weissbluth in particular) and will continue to do so because I just think he is the bees knees! read more

I am honestly surprised at all of the poor reviews of this practice. I am a physician myself and have high expectations for a practice. I have had no problems at all with this one. I take my kids to Dr. Dawn Li, who is absolutely wonderful. I would recommend her to anyone. She is friendly and professional. I have waited up to 30 minutes (total wait time in waiting room and exam room), but most of the time the wait is less. I never have a hard time getting a well child appointment, which is not the case for other practices. The nurses are great with giving shots. I have never had any problems with the front desk staff, despite other users' comments. The only thing I feel could be improved is the space. The waiting rooms are very small with few toys. You have to leave your stroller in the waiting room, so things get a bit crowded. read more

The billing practices are atrocious. My wife went to the office with our newborn daughter, and they told her that we owed an amount not paid by our insurance due to our deductible. My wife insisted it was paid but they kept asking and asking for payment. My wife, having just given birth to her first child, was vulnerable to that pressure and paid. Well, we had actually paid that bill weeks before. It was clear double billing. They did refund us our money but it was only after multiple calls. Also,, Marc Weissbluth, M.D, the founding doctor of the practice, did leave me a message apologizing and saying he would look into this matter. By what followed, he obviously did not. Recently, I received notice from the billing service that the bill for the date of service that we had paid twice for had not been paid. This practice keeps billing my insurance company for a date of service for which they were already paid. My insurance company keeps telling them that they are double and triple billing but they keep doing it. Now, they have threatened to go after me personally even though the bill was paid months ago. I did call, and the billing person told me I had a zero balance. I asked why I got a notice and she really could not explain why. I'm hoping this is over, but I wasted my time calling their billing office again. If this office cannot handle simple billing practices, it makes me wonder how they can handle complex baby and children's care issues, including immunizations. It makes all their treatment practices look suspect. To date, I have no complaints with the treatment provided to my baby. Their doctors seem experienced, knowledgeable, and patient friendly. I, however, urge any parent taking his or her child to this practice to make sure that there is no double billing and that appropriate care and treatment are provided. read more

We started out at a different pediatric group affiliated with Northwestern. It was a bad fit and I felt minimalized by the pediatrician even when asking about medication dosages. Thankfully, a parent at our playground recommended we come here. This practice is THE BEST! Front end staff is friendly and efficient even during the seven (YES, 7) day a week sick call where you don't need an appt., You just bring your sick, sweet baby in at the prescribed times. M-F at 8 am and S and Su at 10 am. When I have called to schedule an appointment, I have always had courteous staff willing to work with my schedule as well as Dr. Sharma's. When I have called regarding my child's illness, I usually get into voicemail easily and with plenty of time to state all the details. I have NEVER waited much more than 1/2 hour before receiving a soothing call from a nurse with clear instructions and/or an appointment time for that day. I appreciate that the nurse makes the appointment for you right then without a transfer to front end staff. We have seen most every physician and NP in this practice. All are very patient and understanding with my child and her parents questions and concerns. I have never felt rushed. Exams are thorough. The nursing staff are amazing at getting in and out with shots and blood draws. Seeming to know just how much comfort (or little) your child requires of them. My child tends to scream longer and louder with others present. Finally, I have always found both waiting rooms and exam rooms to be very clean and orderly. read more

My review is not about the whole practice or the doctors, I happen to think the doctors are great,the receptionist are friendly and helpful, the lactation specialist Erica is so patient and kind, even our last nurse Jenna was probably one of the best nurses we've encountered anywhere. But unfortunately i cannot say the same about the nurse manager Angela Hence. Her bed side manner and how she administered the oral rotavirus to my 4 months old daughter caused huge concern, I feel the need to share my story and warn other parents about her. On Tuesday June 2, my husband and I took my daughter for her 4 months visit. When Angela came in to give my daughter her shots, the following happened 1. She did not greet anyone of us, her face was stone cold and went straight to get the shots started. deal" 2. She started giving the rotavirus to my daughter, as a 4 month old, my daughter is a little scared of new faces, and is a still a bit colicky, so she started crying as soon as the drops hit her mouth. Again, Angela was stone cold, did not even make any attempt to comfort her. she simply stood at a distance to continue to squeeze the liquid, not along the side of her cheeks, but all the way to the back of my daughters throat, the liquid was coming out fast, because my daughter was lying down, and crying, immediately all the liquid started to pool in the back of her throat and she started chocking. At first, she was coughing, but Angela didn't stop squeezing the liquid in her month, and all of sudden my daughter stopped coughing, and started gaging and gasping for air, and could not catch her breath, her face turned bright purplish red, at this point Angela didn't even care to stop. so I picked my daughter up right away, so Angela can longer give her more liquid. We also had my mother with us, she kept telling me "the nurse need to stop, tell her to stop, the baby is choking". It took my daughter a total of almost a minute to start breathing normally, she was still gaging, coughing and burping after almost a minute. The entire time Angela just stared at me impatiently, didn't say a word. At that moment, I was so upset didn't know what to say except to Angela "do all kids choke like this?" she gave me a one liner response "some kids do, some kids don't". 3. All i can think about at that moment is "don't over react, it will be ok, and she needs all of her shots". so i did let Angela give the rest of the shots, it went ok, she then picked up her stuff, didn't say anything and left the room. After I dressed my daughter and was about to leave, she was still burping from gasping and coughing earlier, I then went outside and demanded to speak to someone about what just happened. Another nurse asked me what happened, I started telling her about the situation, then Angela came by, she was annoyed and argued with me and said "your daughter was fine, she wasn't choking, i would've picked her up if I thought she was choking. I asked her "how do you define choking?" she said "when they couldn't cough and gag". I told her "She was gaging, She couldn't cough until i picked her up and her face turned purple". she then condescendingly told me "She was crying, that's all ,and she spit out most of her medication anyways. I've been doing this for years, she's fine" after hearing that I was too upset to talk at that moment and had to leave. I am a firm believer sometime kids just needs to tough it out. But not in this instance, I understand crying babies choke on liquids sometimes, but my issues with Angela are the following 1.Angela failed to stop immediately when my daughter started choking to allow her time to recover, instead she continued to force the liquid down her throat. 2. She used a condescending tone when addressing this issue and continue to lie and argue that my daughter was not choking. i might be a first time mom, but i know when a child is choking. I would've been completely ok with it if she apologized for being a little too quick and forceful with how she administered the oral vaccine. But she didn't, she acted as if it was my daughters fault that she choked. 3 Her bed side manner was horrific, she didn't care to greet anyone or say a few comforting words to a terrified 4 months old even when she made her choke. one more thing to add, I called the office manager Cindy Chavez to discuss this incidence that same day, it's been 3 days and no response, I doubt that they would address this issue, but I hope my review can help other parents. I do like the doctors and some of the nurses here, so I am not going to switch pediatrician, but you can be sure that Angela Hence will never come near my child ever again. read more

I was very loyal to this practice for 5 years because it was the only place my son had been since birth. I recently made the decision to run for the boarder... These people have become so arrogant and unresponsive that it is sickening. It used to be a great practice but since Daniel Weissbluth left they are showing their true colors. After the first 4 hiccups I tried to endure and stay but this last time has officially burned the bridge. I wouldn't recommend this place to my enemy; the service has declined remarkably. Yes the office looks nice and some of the doctors are knowledgeable and great with kids but the nurses and staff could care less if they had your business or not. You share a concern with them and they basically say join the club... I never received any type of apology or explanation for such horrible treatment and/or customer service... beware, it is not what it used to be. Mind you, this practice received ONE STAR because I didn't have the option to give them 0. read more

I have nothing to say but great things about this practice. I have 2 kids (ages 3 1/2 and 2 1/2) that I have been bringing to NWCP since birth. i have met just about all of the NP'/MD's in the practice and have felt that none of them have been less than outstanding. My phone calls are answered typically within the hour and I have had good experiences with the same day sick appointments as well. The nurses have all been happy and upbeat and the front staff does greet you with a smile. My kids like coming here because everyone that we have seen has taken the time to get to know our family and eases my families anxieties whenever necessary. I wouldn't take my kids anywhere else. I know the medical care we receive is top notch!! WE LOVE NWCP!!! read more

My wife and I have been bringing our children to NWCP ever since we moved to Chicago 6 years ago. We primarily see Dr. Li and have also interacted with Dr. Sharma and Dr. King. Being physicians ourselves, I can confidently say we have always been impressed with the care and attention our children have received here. Each physician was knowledgeable, professional, and most importantly, genuinely engaged with my children. The nursing and administrative staff are friendly and accommodating. One day I showed up with 3 kids in tow only to realize my actual scheduled appointment was the following day. Recognizing the effort, they offered to get me in with a different physician that day. I highly recommend this practice to everyone. read more

I went to this practice for 3 1/2 years, over the span of two children. Over this time period I've had several challenges with the practice, specifically with billing and the patient care. On a few occasions when we were forced to do walk-in we saw Dr. Daniel Weissbluth who does not deserve to have a medical license, in my opinion. In one experience, he dismissed my concerns about my daughter who had a cold for 6 weeks, then scolded my child in front of me for interrupting us b/c I was trying to discuss the situation him. Ultimately, he mis-diagnosed my daughter telling me it was impossible for a 2 1/2 year old to have a sinus infection. When I threatened to leave the practice my doctor, Dr. Goldstein, finally intervened and diagnosed the sinus infection which at that point required multiple rounds of antiboitics to cure. I don't believe Daniel Weissbluth even likes kids (and definitely not parents)!! Additionally, I have regularly received inaccurate and delayed bills. The time I have spent calling the billing department to straighten our account out is ridiculous. Additionally, the billing staff is rude and unknowledgeable. They refuse to offer so much as an apology and take zero accountability for the billing. As one billing person recently told me..."it's the system that does the billing, they are just hear to answer questions." I believe there are talented and caring doctors at this practice but in the end the practice is only interested in pushing through patients and making money. I think the notoriety of Dr. Weissbluth's sleep book has caused the practice to loose focus on patient care by simply treating children as numbers and parent concerns as silly or not worth their time. Things have really gone downhill since I began going there in August 2007! If you decide to go to this practice, you better have LOTS of patience and be willing to accept mediocre (at best) care from the doctors, np, nurses and administrative staff. read more

Well, used to LOVE this place - we saw Dr. Marc Weissbluth - who was AMAZING. He abruptly retired and we made an appt with Dr. Hirsch. We called to see if she was running on time 45 min before our appt and was told she was. It was snowing and we were concerned that if we had a long wait, we would be late picking up our other child. After waiting in the room 15 minutes, I went out to check and see how much longer it would be and explained that we had to pick up my daughter. Dr. Hirsch then stuck her head in and in a very snotty tone, told us it had only been 15 minutes and "15 minutes is considered on-time for a doctor" and slammed the door....REALLY?! She didn't really take the time and discuss things with us like Dr. Weissbluth did - we're going to interview other pediatricians later this week to make a switch. read more

Since Dr. Weisbluth left, this practice has gone done hill. Last time we were there we saw Dr. Rebecca Unger for a well visit. I have 3 children. I felt very rushed. I asked that I be in the room when the doctor was talking to my kids, but as I was in a room with one child, the doctor was in with another child without my knowledge. Dr Unger started to tell my daughter about the HPV vaccine. I told the doctor that I do nor want my daughter to have this vaccine, but Dr Unger continued to explain it to my daughter and said it was her decision. No, she's a minor Dr. Unger and I'm her mother and I said NO. It was unbelievable thar she persisted. The same child then told the doctor that school stresses her out. Dr. Unger immediately got our her pad and jotted down a psychologist in our neighborhood. I took the Dr out in the hall and said, "What are you doing? She has normal stress, she is a teenager. You need to minimize this, not make this child alarmed. ". I felt like she really wanted to refer a colleague instead of helping my daughter. Although she has the years of experience, she is not a good listener and is very rushed. We will not go back. On the same visit, another child of mine was given a couple of shots. The doctor did say that it may cause fainting in some children. Since my daughter is very skinny (10%) it was probable that she would faint. The nurse gave her the shot when I wasn't in the room and left her alone. ( I was with my son). Luckily, I happen to check on my daughter who was about to faint and said she say the that room was getting foggy. I called the nurse who gave her some juice and she was fine after 5-10 minutes. Poor bedside manner, rushed service and arrogant doctors. I really miss Dr. Weisbluth, he was an old school doctor. read more

I have been going to this practice for 10 years. All of the physicians, nurses, and staff are wonderful. Dr. Goldstein and Dr. Hirsh are the primary physicians for my children. The practice has always been very accommodating. I really am grateful for the care we receive from this practice, and highly recommend to friends and several family members. read more

The pediatricians are good but they are dwarfed by the completely incompetent billing department. I spend months after each year's well child appointment providing the billing department proof that my insurance company paid the bill. And if they don't want to correct their error they just charge your credit card on file for the full amount of your visit. read more

When we were pregnant and looking for a pediatrician we wanted to find an office who was affiliated with Luries and came across this practice. At first I felt like they were a good fit but as time went on and things came up with my son I realized they operate based on their own agendas and not personalized to the patient. We saw Dr Li and any concern we brought to her she was never concerned about or reassured us wasn't anything we should worry about. He had a rash that ended up being diagnosed as eczema and instead of giving us ways to reduce and prevent flare ups, we were given a steroid cream prescription and no follow up to check back in. we were also concerned about his circumcision and again told its normal and didn't give us any instructions on how to manage the extra skin and then he developed adhesions and needs them surgically removed.Lastly, we deferred the 6mo shots due to a 102 fever at home the day of the apt and they never thought to take his temperature during the appointment and we had to seek out someone as we were leaving to have it checked. We came back for the shots, a shot appointment is only available during limited hours during the week, and were never told he needed the flu booster since it was his first time getting the vaccine. I will never return or recommend this practice to anyone who asks me where they should take their child. read more

I had been taking my daughter there since she was born and always had problems with the billing department. Almost every time I called to make a check up, there would be some kind of hold on the account, stating that I needed to pay a balance. Yet, I never once received anything in the mail or even a phone call regarding said balance. Thankfully, my daughter has been pretty healthy, so the only time we really needed to see her pediatrician was for her regularly scheduled check-up. I just called to schedule her 4 year and surprise, surprise: another hold on the account. It turns out that they never did the change of address I notified them about when we moved last year, despite my being there to give them the new address in person. They sent bills to my old address, and finally sent it to collections (a whopping $650, for what I don't know. She only ever had check-ups and two $25 nighttime calls), all without notifying me at all. Now I'm battling with the billing department (who aren't claiming any responsibility for their own mistake), and I have to find a new pediatrician before school starts to boot. The doctors and nurses were great, but the office staff and billing department will make you want to pull your hair out! read more

We saw Dr. Goldstein for the last year and were very happy with him and this practice in general. He is very kind and knowledgeable and was also always running on time for our well-child checks. We were there often this winter in the walk-in clinics and saw a number of NPs and Dr. Blegen. Dr. Blegen was terrific, the NPs were also really good. The practice in general is efficient. Once, I arrived on the wrong day for a well child check and they managed to squeeze me in anyway which was amazing! I also love that they are open so often for sick visits, it makes it really easy to be seen and avoid urgent care/ED. I would recommend getting there a little early for a walk-in visits as it's first come-first serve and sometimes the waits can be long if you arrive late (especially on the weekends). read more

Fantastic practice! Don't let a few negative posters who appear to have had billing issues dissuade you from considering this excellent practice for your children. We have been taking our children to Dr. Dawn Li at this practice since 2008. She is superb with both of my children, has a great bedside manner, remembers us every time we go in and her diagnoses are always spot on. We also have seen just about every other doctor and NP in the practice and are pleased with all of them. They have dedicated sick visit times EVERY DAY, which is a huge bonus. My younger child had several recurring ear infections in the first 18 months (he eventually got tubes which eliminated the problem) and we NEVER had a problem getting him seen same day and often with no notice at all--even if we didn't make it to the practice during the "sick visit" time. The receptionists have always been courteous to us; they are not rude, I think they just recognize that a parent with a sick child does not have time or the desire frankly to make small talk when they just want to be seen by a doctor. The doctors and NPs don't over prescribe antibiotics. We have gone in several times suspecting an ear infection and walk away without a prescription because there was no infection. This practice must have too many clients,since they don't really care about service. Be ready that if you're 15 minutes late (which is normal when you have a baby) you'll be refused an appointment and forced to reschedule. Needless to say that doctors are always busy and your best bet for the nearest check up appointment is a nurse practitioner. Instead of calling you with a reminder they expect parents to call letting them know they are coming in or running late (because this is exactly what you do when you have a sick baby or are trying to get everyone ready and leave the house.) The point is they need to step up their service and the way their staff talks to their clients otherwise their ratings may start going down. For now their reviews are great, but this practice is just average and definitely not anything out of this world amazing. The competition in Chicago is strong and the word (especially via social media) travels fast. read more

We having seeing Dr. Scott Goldstein since our son was born 3 years ago. We have had zero problems/issues with the practice. They are on time for every appointment and all the staff and assistants are helpful and professional. I always leave their office feeling like a great parent, since they are very reassuring and kind. read more

I highly recommend this practice, especially Dr. Daniel Weissbluth as pediatrician/s. He has been my daughter's pediatrician since her birth and has always been extremely thorough,he has never rushed us through our sessions and has always patiently answered all my neurotic questions. Yesterday, my daughter G had her first high fever and as first time parents we were extremely worried and frantic. Dr. W was easy to get a hold of, gave us sound advise and was there to greet us early this morning for our sick visit. As first time/new parents nothing can be more comforting than having an available, responsible pediatrician. read more

This practice is amazing. We see Dr. Daneil Weissbluth and he is incredibly intelligent aqnd caring. Our baby sleeps like an angel thanks to him (and the Weissbluth Method) and as a first time mom I always feel like my concerns are treated with respect and compassion. Dr. Weissnbluth also invited us to call him directly, not just call the practice with our questions, which I really appreciate. Everyone at this practice could not be nicer and I recommend it to everyone I meet who is looking for a pediatrician. read more

We have been seeing Dr. Goldstein for the past four years and have felt like we were always in good hands. He has a way of knowing which things to focus on, and which things to just offer a quick word or two of reassurance. On time for well checks. We have only had a couple sick visits with other physicians but they were good too. This summer we were able to schedule a well check first thing in the morning - previously not before 10 AM which was frustrating so I hope they continue that change. We have always been able to get same day appointments for sick visits though often with a nurse practitioner instead of a physician, however when I have requested to have the supervising physician come in at the end of the visit someone is always available. I like the walk-in hours, and when I have requested a physician I have always had one (maybe the wait was longer). My child loves the train table - last visit it was hard to get her to leave the office after our appointment! We are moving out of state and I am so worried about finding a new pediatrician where I am confident we are getting excellent care, not to mention this practice is so friendly and easy to work with! read more

I am a physician myself and I am pretty confidant to say the physicians of this practice are good, competent doctors. However, here are some of the problems with the group that we have been dealing with: 1. Physicians are not readily available. The practice does not allow you to directly talk to the doctors over the phone. 2. You must talk to the nurse practitioner for any inquiries over the phone. From our experience she does not return our calls. 3. The business manager accused us of making a scheduling mistake and would not allow us to see our doctor when we showed up at the time we were supposed to be there. I tracked down the clerk who made the appointment and got her to admit her mistake. Even then, no apologies. 4. They kept charging co-payments for our son ($20 each visit) when our insurance at our time did not require co-payments. After multiple phone calls, they refunded us the money. I advised them to not make this kind of mistake but they kept asking for co-payment for future visits. 5. Our insurance was changed but they kept billing the old insurance company who obviously did not reimburse them. They kept sending us the bills and I kept telling them that our insurance has been changed and that we have been using the new card and have made co-payments each visit...of course, we still get the bills. All of the these problems are completely UNACCEPTABLE. If only a few of these problems occurred, then I would give them more leeway but the fact that all of these things have happened means that there is something fundamentally wrong with this group. I would not recommend any of my friends to go to such practice unless they address these issues. read more

I am dumbfounded by the one-star reviews. We have been going to NWCP for over 8 years (so we cover the pre- and post-Weissbluth period), have two daughters, one of whom has respiratory issues resulting in frequent visits, including numerous sick visits (i.e., walk-in without appointment), and have never been disappointed with the service, the way we've been treated, wait time, follow up/response time, etc. I cannot think of one single thing we have been less than satisfied with overall. We primarily see Dr. Goldstein but have seen at least six other doctors and a handful of nurse practitioners as well. The receptionists certainly do not throw confetti and give hugs when you enter, but the doctor's office is not a birthday party; the receptionists satisfy the required need for scheduling, check in and check out. The doctors are literally available around the clock and never, ever make us feel foolish for a middle-of-the-night emergency call. They are in tune with our girls, proactive about health care and give honest, practical advice. We moved out to the suburbs but will not stop going to this practice until our girls grow out of it. I feel so very confident endorsing NWCP. read more

We switched from the Ravenswood Advocate Medical office to Northwestern Children's Practice because we just couldn't take the wait times and the doctors were good, but not great. Anyway, we were recommended to see Dr. Goldstein, and we have been super happy with him and the office. Suddenly going to the doctor with an infant (now 3.5 years old) is no longer stressful because we get seen immediately! And I mean immediately. Dr. Goldstein is ON TIME, and that is priceless when you're dealing with a toddler and potentially stressful doctors visits. We've also gone to the walk-in hours, where you wait longer of course, but no complaints from me--I'm just happy we can walk in any day of the week. I've also called the on-call doctor after hours twice and have received a call back very promptly (last night I got a call back in less than 5 minutes). They do bill for this service, and I have absolutely no problem with that. I'm just happy to be able to get an answer to urgent or even non-urgent (but still time sensitive) issues after the office closes. We have not had any bad experiences here. I highly recommend Dr. Goldstein and the office in general. Dr. Goldstein asks a few key questions but doesn't do a lot of crazy developmental assessments, which some may miss, but which frankly has de-stressed me a lot because my daughter is doing just fine, and some of the milestone assessments at our old doctor's office just made me feel super stressed that somehow my daughter might not be doing ok. And if we have questions, we ask them and he is happy to answer. read more
