The nice thing about this practice is that there are so many practitioners, so don't hesitate to rotate through to find out which ones you like. The doctor we saw initially didn't do a great job at answering a lot of my questions, and I wound up crying the whole drive home. I was worried that if I made an appointment with one of the other practitioners that I'd offend the first one or that it meant I was being a bad parent. I finally made an appointment with another doctor after three other medical professionals gently recommended that we try a different doctor. It's not that the practitioners weren't competent (they were!), but the communication style left a lot to be desired. It's so important for your child that they have a doctor that you as the parent can also trust. Definitely feel empowered to find the doctor you feel most confident with. Other great things: - Once we found practitioners we did click with - they were absolutely fantastic. Easy to communicate with and answered questions clearly. - I've only great experiences with the front desk staff. I'm not saying this to invalidate the other reviews, just saying that I've had a totally different experience. They've been responsive, friendly, and helpful. - They offer walk-ins, a 24/7 nurse line, and house calls. We haven't had to use any of these, but I feel so secure as a parent knowing that we have such accessible care in the event that it is needed. - Great book selection in the waiting room. I've now been to each of the Weissbluth locations. I have a coworker who goes to this location and so I knew they had better parking in general than the Bucktown location. Also, the doctor I selected for my daughter's "official" pediatrician, Dr. Asha, is here so I figured I'd need to go here if I wanted to use her. Though we haven't been able to see Dr. Asha but for the time she was on rounds in the hospital after I gave birth a few weeks ago, we have been able to see Dr. Akta, whom we also met in the hospital. Dr. Akta is great, very friendly and good with my newborn. The check-in staff were friendly as well, and the nurse asked if we wanted her to wear a mask (yep! Still masking when out and about and especially with a newborn who has no immune system). The waiting area is similar to the other locations, with books, an aquarium, and whatnot to keep little ones occupied. This location seems particularly large and has a second floor--though I don't know those are exam rooms; it seemed like it was a space for something else. They also have several parking spots in their private lot, and given their location in the South Loop there's lots of street parking around as well. read more

I was looking for a pediatrician and this office was recommended by my hospital. I checked their website and saw they offer meet & greets which seemed really nice. I called the office and completed the registration for the first available pediatrician Dr Gal for the next day. I was informed by the medical assistant I would receive a link via email to complete the final steps of the registration before my appointment the next day. I waited to 2pm as I had called earlier that day and I did not receive a link. The medical assistant explained whoever completed my intake form didn't not save my information which is why I wasn't sent the email. The office has no way of saving callers information or they do not have a notepad/caller ID. The medical assistant explained I would still have my appointment but on the day of the virtual visit no link or call was received by this office. It is safe to say I will find another pediatrician offer for my child. read more

We took our newborn to this pediatrician a day after we brought her home from the hospital. Dr. Patel asked us if our newborn had her hepatitis B vaccination. We told her no, we opted out of it. She said we had to have her up to date within two months, or she couldn't be a patient there. I asked why that was. Dr Patel stated she didnt know, that it was the CDC guidelines and she just does what shes told. No explanation on why. Then, two days later we took her to see the lactation specialist Sarah, cant remember her last name. She was manhandling our baby to the point of knocking off our newborn's umbilical cord stub. It fell on the floor, and she laughed and asked us if we wanted to keep it before throwing it in the trash. She was very unprofessional. Most of the appointments were about her addressing me, not even making eye contact with my wife and giving her the help she needed. It was my wife that needed assistance with feeding our baby, not me. It was borderline offensive. Our daughter was having symptoms of feeding taking 60-90 mins, she would fall asleep on the breast every 5 mins or so, bad and consistent hiccups, excess gas, leaking milk at the sides of the mouth. clicking while trying to latch, and nipple pain for my wife. We elaborated on these symptoms in detail, and both Dr. Patel and the lactation specialist said that this was all normal and she was perfectly healthy. We didnt like or agree with any of this experience or medical advice so we took her to a different pediatrician. Long story short, she was diagnosed with a lip, tongue and cheek tie which requires surgery. After all this I filed a Google review stating the first part of this complaint which was immediately removed by the company. I filed another review stating that they took down the first review and restated my issue. They responded stating that my review was false. I then called the company asking to speak to a manager to file a formal complaint. I was told to leave a message and no one ever returned my call. In response to your comment: The vaccination issue is the least concern with this practice. We are not anti vaccination. Certain ones are tried and true. What is too young to get vaccinated? A newborn getting a hepatitis vaccination is not acceptable to me. Who is responsible if our baby has an adverse reaction? No one. The other issues stated are more important. The mis-diagnosis is the serious problem and the lactation specialist ripping our baby's umbilical cord stub off four days after birth and laughing about it as she picked it off the bottom of her shoe. We just started with this practice with our newborn. It's obviously a very stressful and scary time with COVID-19, but we have found that Weissbluth Pediatrics is taking the strictest precautions to protect both my wife and I and our newborn daughter. My wife is a physician as well and feels confident in Weissbluth's precautions. Of course, the administrative staff and healthcare providers have been top-notch as well. I read Yvonne's review below and sympathize with her frustration. But given all the unknowns around COVID, and the federal government's lack of preparedness, all health care providers are updating their policies and protocols in real-time, as more information is available. Even at the hospital where we delivered on Saturday the policies around COVID were changing by the hour. Furthermore, as my daughter is a new patient of the practice, I am quite heartened to see that Weissbluth is engaging in the most cautious possible response when encountering a potential COVID diagnosis, even if it may have resulted in a miscommunication. read more

UPDATE: The practice responded here, and it's a little frightening that they know they're breaking the law, they're just choosing not to care. I don't want to take my kid to a practice with those kinds of medical ethics. This practice faces constant staff turnover, there are new nurse practitioners seeing my child every time I come here, but that's not why I leave a poor review. I had a billing issue with my insurance, which was resolved, but Weissbluth originally withheld my daughters medical records over the issue. People throw HIPAA around without understanding what it means, but refusing to release medical records is a violation of HIPAA. The practice claimed they have the right to do so because they are a private practice, which is a little frightening that they either don't understand or are pretending not to understand basic healthcare law. It doesn't make me feel like they're competent and I would be hesitant to return. read more

I am new to Weissbluth as I gave birth recently. Needless to say, it's been a tense and stressful time. I was incredibly nervous and worried to go to a doctor's office with my newborn. However, I have been very impressed with Weissbluth's precautionary measures regarding COVID-19. With so many unknowns regarding such a contagious and potentially fatal virus, I am pleased to see such a careful and deliberate approach. The practice seems to be taking no chances regarding COVID exposure, which is music to my ears. The office administrators even sanitized and disinfected my insurance and credit cards before handing them back to me. I have also loved the three providers I have seen - Dr. Weisbluth, Dr. Kaufmann, and Emily Santolin. All very warm and knowledgeable, and also sympathetic to the unique challenges and stresses of being a new parent during this time. read more

Highly recommend, for parents that are looking for a practice with expertise in sleep "training". Parents know their children best, but we have gone to Dr. Dan and his colleagues when our son was 1 year old, and then recently again at nearly 3, for some level-setting advise around sleep issues we were experiencing with our child. On both occasions, we found the advise to be practical, tailored and ultimately EXTREMELY helpful. Sleep, blessed sleep. We also chose this practice - and have stayed with them for 3 years - primarily because of their flexible hours, comprehensive operational structure (e.g. great prenatal offerings, excellent response times even during nights and weekends, and fantastic nursing staff). read more

Nurse practitioner Amy is an absolute delight, polite, professional and with a good bedside manner, and would be the reason we stay with the practice. The rest of the staff outside of the medical team is why I had such a negative experience today. They seem like they can barely be bothered to be there, and are sleepwalking through the process. My two month old got shots this morning, and the assistant that gave them complained that I requested to hold her during the process, something I never got pushback on with my son. It is very frustrating to have a 9am appointment, arrive on time, and not even get checked in for 25 minutes while I'm managing an infant and a toddler. read more

Dr. Tim is great with our kids (9/8/5 year olds), he makes the visits fun. We highly recommend their team. Best practice around. All the nurses are quick and good with kids and all the providers give comprehensive care. They even have cute parking space signs which is not even the best part because parking is free! They email back so quickly and are always responsive. This practice is run by incompetent doctors and nearly cost us our daughter's future. We were observing our daughter having spasms upon waking up that began soon after one of her visits to the office, likely caused by one of the vaccines administered at Weissbluth. After several phone calls and emails describing what we saw, the doctors at Weissbluth never thought anything of it, so we took matters to our own hands and took our daughter to the ER. Sure enough, her EEG confirmed SEIZURES. Dr. Mina had been extremely condescending when we had asked about our tiny baby being vaccinated in the first place. Her bedside manner was always moody and we never comfortable with her. One day she would be happy and bubbly and the next visit, she would be sarcastic and rude. Not only did she miss the seizure diagnosis, but she and the nurse practitioners also missed my daughter's lip and tongue tie diagnosis. Overall, we are extremely dissatisfied with Weissbluth and hope that no other children are harmed there. They run like a capitalistic business not keeping the child's best interest in mind. Please keep your babies safe and away from them. Thank goodness we have found a much more caring and holistic pediatrician for our daughter, Dr. Zumhagen, who is well worth the drive, and our daughter is now thriving. read more

The pediatricians are great there. We always feel like we are in good hands with them. They are knowledgeable and patient. Unfortunately, most of the nurses isn't that great. Today was the tipping point for me. I called to ask about my constipated baby (sorry TMI, with blood in his stool) a nurse told me to bring in a stool sample. When I called again to see if I need to bring my baby in, the receptionist said we don't need to make an appointment and we can just drop the stool off. But when my husband showed up with the stool today, they turned him away because we didn't have an appointment for the doctor to see the baby nor he brought our baby with him. When I called to inquire, the nurse asked if we still had the stool because there was "miscommunication." It was not fun saving stool for a whole day and then she acted like she was doing me a favor when she double booked us to see the nurse practitioner tomorrow. She said it's better for my baby to be seen earlier than later. (Um.. if it's urgent then she should have took the stool sample for it to get tested first!) The nurse said to bring the baby in with the stool tomorrow. But if he doesn't poop in time (because helloooo he is constipated), we will have to go back and bring in the stool sample. They saw in their documentation that inquired about the blood in his stool (sorry TMI again), so why wouldn't they test his stool first and then have us make an appointment to go in? It is a waste of time and my anxiety on the well-being of my child could have been avoided if they can run the test first and then have us make the appointment. read more

The practice is ok. I feel rushed every time we go. The only doctor that didn't make us feel that way no longer works there. We only continued to go because of the location convenience and Dr. Mina Kim. This place nickel and dimes you, especially when it comes to forms. Make sure you get your daycare form the day of and let the doctor, nurse, front desk know that you requested it. If not, I think it's a $20-25 charge. I only let the doctor (not Dr. Mina) know the last time and she didn't note it down. Luckily they were kind enough to let me have it for free this time. We are also transferring out of the practice and for them to send medical records to the new practice is also another $10 dollars! My new practice thought that it was weird since it's doc to doc and not being released for personal usage. So it's just the little things like that and feeling rushed. It makes you feel like they don't care. It's about quantity over quality. read more
