Some of the better gas pricing in Orange County for many months when everyone else was gouging customers... especially for a 76 station. The pumps are hit and miss when it comes to how well they function. You could be unlucky and get one of their pumps that is notoriously slow, and the fume seal on some of the pumps seem defective somehow and the pump will shut off numerous times for no apparent reason. read more

This gas station was an emergency stop for me; I normally don't stop at very expensive gas stations. I purchased about 10 gallons of gas at $3.73 per gal. 09/02/18. The pump kept prematurely kicking off the whole time; I finally gave up and completed my fueling at an alternate gas station. I could not help but notice not a single other car pulled in on a busy Labor Day weekend. I mentioned the pump issue to an employee running the postage size convenient store and basically told me to go elsewhere! I go to this gas station because it's close to my house but I went today to vacuum my carpets because I saw someone vacuuming prior. I pulled up and it said 2.00 on credit card machine and had place for quarters and when I put in it did not work. The employee said it take 50 more cents which is weird because it said 2.00. Literally, the worst customer service ever. They were rude and disrespectful, cutting me off and ignoring me half the time. Want a really bad time? Ask for bill. Balding except for his unruly beard, he really knows how to get on your last nerve. I went to get an oil change (which for some reason took 3 hours) and bill was pretty much trying to get me to leave (probably because I had a punch card instead of cash). After leaving my car with these people, I went back after 3 hours because there was no way it could take this long. When I asked how long it would take, bill kept insisting on not knowing and yelled "45 minutes, at the least" like he was trying to get rid of me when he obviously was not busy. Guess who called 5 minutes later to say it was done when I had just gotten on the freeway? Bill. Beware if you are going to fill up here in the near future. They have contracted a auto glass firm to do a "free customer appreciation windshiled wash". That is what i was told when pulling in. As the guy was cleaning the windshield, I noticed he had a lanyard ID for Apple Window Glass. Now I realized what was going on. The "free" window wash was only there to see if I had any chips in the windshield that they could fix. I have seen this sales pitch used at car washes, but at a gas station? Most people do not want to pump gas then hang out for 15 minutes with an overly talkative glass repair person. Trust me, unless you like making small talk or listening to lame jokes for 15 minutes while they work on your car, go right ahead. While this station does sell gas again, the service shop is now closed. If employees are around you can buy a few candies and snacks inside, but there's no real market and no vending machines. The employees have no idea about the 76 promotions listed on the pumps. For example, if you fill up your tank you're supposed to get a voucher for a free Dodger pin. My husband went to drop his car off for a simple oil change. Our family and extended family have been going to 76 for several years. BUT NOT ANYMORE!!!not sure who this new guy is but totally the RUDEST, WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. While my husband was waiting and waiting the guy was just sitting there. They have advertisements and a cage for buying/exchanging propane tanks. I've used the service before since it's conveniently next to home. recently went in and the station attendant was behind the counter on his phone. Asked him for a exchange and while staying on the phone, he lied to my face and told me they don't do propane services anymore. He looked like a liar, his eyes wouldn't look me back in my own eyeball - a sign of a true shitpiece, his hands looked very soft and I doubt he is capable of a firm handshake. This dummy is obviously getting paid to be on his personal cellphone. I buy Surge soda here sometimes. My girlfriend loves it, so they have that going for them. I would stay away from this place. The only reason we go there is that we bought their one-year maintenance contract where we would get a few free oil changes and discounts on other services. They seemed nice enough and did call me back when the oil change was done. However when they called back from the oil change, they "found" all these items that NEEDED to be fixes. They would have been repairs of over $500! All after a $20 oil change! No, thank you! We only drive that car 10 miles a day average for commuting and the car is a 1993 Camry. It doesn't need that much investment for an old car. We'd rather take it to our regular mechanic (who is a little farther away but very honest) and have them check it out, pay them with our AAA discount. read more

This is an update to my previous poor rating of this 76. The manager called me and gave me a full refund, and asked to give them a second chance. Months passed, one of my tires blew right next to the station and so I pulled in. Things have definitely changed at this store for the better. For one, this 76 station is selling gasoline again. Two, the auto repair quality has returned. I changed my shocks there, and the repair was perfect at a reasonable price. I didn't have to leave my car overnight, and this time, they remembered to call me when it was all done so that I wasn't carless on the way home from work. I have been continuing to patronize this store for all of my car repairs and am happy to recommend family and friends to my honest mechanic once again. read more

RUDE BEYOND BELIEF! The pump kept going off every 2 second when I was pumping gas. Owner was sweeping nearby so I called out for help. He ignored me. The fourth time I said, hello, he finally walked over. I told him what was happening (I'm sure it was no surprise as the issue was with the pump and not my gas tank). He reluctantly started pumping, and alas it happened to him too. He told me to pump it myself, and I said no. Then he returned the pump handle and walked away. Northwood 76 people are rude. Total and complete RIPOFFs. I was charged $95 just to "pull code" to see why the CHECK ENGINE light came on. (Note: Pep Boys does this for free.) I waited over 3 hours. (Note: Pep Boys is busy but they've done it for me in 15 seconds.) After, they said what the code was. They suggested a fix. When I asked, they said they would NOT apply the $95 diagnosis fee towards any actual fix. They suggested replacing a component (a sensor). The cost would be $160 for the part and $60 for the labor (that's for 0.7 hours of labor, their standard labor charge being close to $100 per hour). A total of $220. Disgusted, I declined. I did some research on-line and found videos on how to replace it and found out how much it cost. I later went to AutoZone and bought the part for $45 and installed it myself using a socket wrench in about 10 minutes. Northwood 76 people are rude. Total and complete RIPOFFs. I will NEVER go back and I DO NOT recommend them! I hope these negative reviews go far and wide in showing everyone how much they suck. BEWARE. I brought my 323i into this shop for a simple maintenance. First off they charge $1400 to fix my car and it just happens to break down a day later. Great another $600 I had to spend. This is one of the most unprofessional car shops I have ever seen. When opening my hood the entire transmission and thermostat were completely lose. Not to mention I was missing bolts and other simple parts. DO NOT take your car here. Thanks to this company I had to sell my car after all the problems I started accumulating after taking my car to this mechanic. Sad to say the customer service isn't any better. I used to take my 10 year old Lexus to the dealer for everything. Ever since I started going to this place for a smog check, I take my car and my husband's car in for any repairs/maintenance. The guys (Brian, Bill, Daniel) are all friendly, and their price is reasonable. I recently took my car in for a 90k, and their price to replace my timing belt, H20 pump, and the whole 9 yards was around $800, compared to $1800 that the dealer would have charged me. Also, I was told by the Tustin Lexus dealer that my transmission pan gasket was leaking, but the guys here told me that there is no leak. I knew the dealer was just after my money. I've been to a lot of mechanics in my days.... I'm only 27, however I've owned a lot of used cars that require a large amount of maintenance. Every single time I've come to this place for a quote I was met with rude, careless customer service and outrageous pricing. Anytime anyone in my family has gone there for repairs,,, same story (why they didn't ask me first is beyond me). They try to make you feel like an idiot and then milk you for all your worth ($800 for motor mounts?). I know how mechanic shops generally work. I realize they will point out every possible thing that's wrong with your vehicle in an attempt to offer repairs. That being said, I have never received so many unnecessarily recommended repairs in my life. Just be warned, horrible customer service, insane pricing and overall spotty performance. read more

Have been taking my car to this business for at least 7+ years. I have been treated professionally by all of their friendly staff . I'm always greeted by Bill when I arrive....he's got some great stories to share and he might show pictures of his grandkids if you're nice to him. Brian is the Manager. He's awesome. He won't sell you something you don't need. He will address any question I have as will Bill. I recommend their senior mechanic, Jeff. He's has been with them for over 10 years and is the best in the business at diagnosing your car's issues. I see them for every oil change, purchased a set of tires, free tire rotation, fixed a water pump, timing belt, you name it, they can do it. They don't sell gas right now but that's no fault of the staff's. Strictly a repair shop for now..... Lastly, they will give you a ride to/from your home/work if you're in Irvine, too. Why is it when you go into a mechanic to get 1 simple thing done, they come back to you and say, "well, this needs to be done and over here, this needs to be done too". The bill goes from 100 bucks to over a thousand in minutes. That's what this place does! How do I know that they are telling me the truth? Do they think that every person that comes in there for repair has over 1000 dollars to blow on auto service that day? The first time I went in there for an alignment and they did it. It was then still pulling to the right, so I took it back and had them do it again. Guess what? Still does the same thing. There is my time wasted and money spent on nothing. The second visit, I went in to have something quickly repaired and they come back and say well you will need this and that and so it will cost over 1000 bucks..(Yeah ok, sure I have a thousand dollars I can give you, no problem"..
