i love this COSTCO gas because of its Location! Hands down its the best for me, easy in and out in theory when driving off the freeway to get gas. The reality is : the only thing is that getting into the lot for gas can be a little like the hunger games, Costco version. Why you ask? It's a self-service gas station, sometimes busy & sometime not. Depending on its location, it is usually cheaper than brand names. And if you have a Costco credit card, I think you get 5 Points per dollar spent. It's a good deal. Don't know why Fullerton Costco's gas line is always 20-30 cars deep and every other Costco is somewhat normal. Came here around 9am on a Saturday and there were like 5 cars getting gas. I was in and out in 5 minutes. This Costco is kind of hidden and in an industrial area, but if you're in the area and need cheaper gas, hit up this Costco. read more

Needed to head over to the other Costco on technology for gas, pumps were down on Heather Ridge. I wasn't the only one that was over here on technology. So as always its Costco and its gas. They are almost always cheaper than surrounding areas. So why 3 stars? The lines was insane and very convulsed making getting in and out difficult and time consuming. Its near several mall type areas so its pretty crowded to begin with. Busy as always. There are 4 islands, with 3 pumps each (24 nozzles in all) and they have a middle pump which is hard to get into if the slot behind is still full. I didn't see anybody try to parallel park in an empty slot, and there were cases where the the front most slot was empty for a bit because a car didn't want to try to go around (it can be tight, and not possible to pass if somebody has their door open). I really like the use of one 'tap' to both validate your membership and pay, if you have a Costco Citi Visa card. I would strongly recommend getting that if you pump here regularly (for less hassle, and the 4% cash back for ANY gasoline purchase). This station also has lights at the top of each island that show if a slot is empty or not. Not sure if it is harmful or helpful... with a middle slot being marked green, are you suppose to try to parallel park into it? For me, that would be too stressful. Plus, I'm not sure how the sensor knows if a slot is being used or not. I saw a motorcycle in one of the slots, and the light showed that it was empty. read more

Like all the other Costco gas stations, you got a wait in line for a very, very long time in order to pump gas. Been here a couple of times to pump, gas, and most of the time it's super busy and you have to wait in long lines that wraps around the block. They do have cones and arrows to direct traffic, which is somewhat helpful. You do save $.30-$.40 per gallon pump in here versus the surrounding areas, but is it worth the extra 20 to 30 minutes you spend. read more

I mean, it's a Costco gas so there should not be much to talk about here...but as expected the pricing is a bit lower than nearby competitors. As mentioned in other reviews, there's lanes with 2 pumps or 3 pumps. Costco could definitely do a better job with directing traffic, as I attribute most of the confusion and jams due to drivers who end up grid-locking other drivers in line. Some people will completely ignore open spots and then the drivers behind will just pull up from behind and directly into slightly shorter lanes. It's chaotic, messy, and can be frustrating but it's the price we all pay in order to save 10-20 cents per 9/10 gallon of gas. As long as you keep your eyes open and you don't easily panic or stress, it's pretty easy to navigate around absent-minded drivers to find a shorter line so that you may receive your gas in a reasonable amount of time. On the plus side, it can be entertaining to watch people fail at paying for gas, cars randomly honking at each other when they take too wide of turns, or cars that aren't paying attention and have another car swoop in and take their spot. It's great that Costco at least installed the spot vacancy signs above each gas lane to indicate if a spot is open, and the key fob makes it easy and touch-free to pay for gas (also the receipt is emailed automatically). Terrible misleading direction from parking lot of the warehouse to the gas station, it was just bad, some parts of the parking were blocked off, but then the entrance of the gas actually was 4 lanes of the parking lot with cars still parked on both sides, in order to get to the station main entrance, scientifically proven this could be cleared to prevent bad traffic during the busiest hours, yet they refused to fix it. And only 2 pumps on each sides not 3, not 4 but 2, for real though, and the people just sat in their cars because they didn't want to go the opposite sides of their gas tank to get gas, which is why it took forever and clogged up even further. Finally is their pumps didn't print out receipts, please fix that. The gas price here is 10 cents less than a regular Costco location, not a big significant change, so if you are not in a rush to fill up your tank. Maybe go to a different Costco. read more

Not sure how you can hate on Costco gas , it's cheaper than most gas stations and if you're going to Costco already why not? Trade off is there can be quite a line at times but I do think Costco has done a better job of maximizing the space so that the waits are shorter. I like that they have the screens showing when a station is opened up. It really helps drivers navigate. The longest I've had to wait is probably 20 mins but usually it takes 10 minutes max. read more

The lines here were a little long but the price is unbeatable! It was only $3.99 per gallon while everywhere I have seen in south OC is over $4. The gas station is also near the food court, which is different from other locations where the gas station is further away. I ended up getting a chicken bake and fruit smoothie since it was on the way out. The food court is a little smaller than food courts at other Costco but perhaps this is just a smaller Costco overall. Regardless, I was happy to get gas below $4! read more

Pro-tip (you're welcome): you can gas your car up from any side, for example if your gas tank is on the left side of your car you can still pull up to the pump that services the right side... the gas lines stretch and go across the back of your car so you can still fill up. They have 3-pump (and 2-pump) lanes available! Typical Costco gas where you'll likely have a long line trying to get into one of the gas lanes. That being said, we've been able to sail right up to a pump during these COVID times without needing to wait behind another car. They're pretty much across the freeway from Irvine Spectrum, so it's not difficult to reach from the freeway. But you likely need to maneuver through Costco customers' cars to get to the general gas pump area. Prices are higher in this part of OC than other parts. It may actually match nearby gas prices from other retailers. We've only really come by because we were heading to Irvine Spectrum and it's pretty close to the freeway. read more

Once my office relocated to Irvine, I had to find a Costco Gas to fill up. This one is down the street and when I come (typically around 630 am), its not very busy. I haven't had any issues getting in and out in a reasonable amount of time I did reduce a star, as I have only been here twice and the second time, the receipt machine didn't work so boo on that. Overall, I have been getting Costco Gas for a long time, and will continue to do so. I have no issues with anything and I appreciate the cost savings that Costco provides its members (especially in the southern California area). read more

This gas station is a little awkwardly positioned so that the line to gas up your car goes right into the parking lot for shoppers at Costco. It's fine during the day when it is not crowded. However, when it is crowded on weekend, shopper must wait for the gas line to let them out and exit. The gas station itself is well kept, clean and it provides lots of room to gas up. There is space to pass up a motorist so you can get to the front pump which is a big plus. The pumps are fast and efficient. The gas prices are among the cheapest in town. Perhaps another solution can be made to give people who are gassing up a better option. Blocking in people really does stink. read more

After a decade+ of filling up in Cypress, THIS station is by far the best, even when it's busy. Stay to the LEFT side pumps as there are 3 on each side, SO the line goes FASTER. This was NEVER the case in Cypress. That may change, now that the Cypress Costco Gasoline Station is getting a major renovation, but we will see. (Why Cypress, some 20 miles away? This Costco gas station is now upgraded to have three pumps per island. Let the cheap gas flow! Even with the upgrades though, there is normally a longish wait time during peak hours (especially the weekend), so come here in the early morning or mid-week afternoon unless you want to wait 10-15 minutes to get gas. If you are really unlucky, you may receive an additional benefit of going to Costco Gas besides the cheap prices - a free life lesson in patience! Why you ask? Because you are still at the mercy of all the people who are pumping gas in front of you; an inordinately large number of whom seem to be confused by the concept of pumping and gas and act as though they have never encountered a gas pump before! You might notice that it seems to take these individuals 10 - 20 minutes to complete the presumably simple task of filling their gas tank, most of which is spent figuring out how to use the pump. This is despite having to use a gas pump 2 - 3 times a week for many years. Fortunately the filling area is also constantly monitored by a Costco employee, who can assist those who struggle with life upon request and can resolve the occasional dispute when someone tries to cut in line. The pumps themselves are no different than the pumps you would find at any other gas station, and in fact they are new so they are faster and appear to be very well maintained. Everything in the pumping area is also kept clean and trash free. There's even window cleaner in the squeegee tanks and functional squeegees. Talk about deluxe! (Filled-up 11/13/18 TU @ 1:00pm): The price of gas was cheap, but it may cost you your patience and sanity as you tried to get here or leave! I seeked out Irvine's Costco Gasoline station because I wasn't sure if there was enough gas in the tank to make it to my next destination. Along with the numerous rental properties I managed, various clients, events and projects I also worked for and on took me all over Southern California, so inexpensive gas was a must for all the driving I did. On average, Costco's gas prices were usually about $0.20/gallon cheaper than the going rate everywhere else, and I was always about value. However, this particular location wasn't visible at all off the nearest freeway (i.e. 5) nor was it easy to get to once you exited the freeway. How did this location compare with others within the chain and in the area!? PURCHASE 87 Unleaded Gas ($34.01) - I was at the ¼-tank marker, and this location was right off the Interstate 5 Freeway in the direction I was heading, so why not fill-up for less before I sat in traffic!? Based on the wait in a long line, you would've thought there was a gas shortage! More than fifteen minutes later, I finally pulled up to a pump and fueled up. After 10.31 gallons of gas at $3.29/gallon, my "Brave Little Toaster" was stuffed and ready to blow this joint! SERVICE Unless there was something wrong with the pump you were at, the machine was out of receipt paper, or your Costco membership card wasn't working, it was all self-service. Unfortunately, my Pump #4 flowed at a slow pace. I recalled a couple employees who milled around for any customer support. Sadly, it was a shame they couldn't help direct the rapidly growing queue of cars so things wouldn't bottleneck. PARKING (n/a) None specifically for the gas station. There were numerous ways to enter the area which created major traffic jams that spilled into the surrounding parking spaces while only one way to exit with no space to maneuver once you pulled into the gas station area. There was plenty of natural lighting during the day and appeared like fluorescent lighting at night. There were no TVs or background music. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Costco Gasoline's Irvine location served its purpose with its low prices, but any positives ended there for me. The distance from the freeway wasn't convenient nor was it easy to find. But, the real negative was the layout of how you queued to get gas which made no sense as I witnessed a couple customers who finished shopping were trapped in their respective vehicles because they were blocked in. This location appeared to share the same daily extended hours I've seen at others which was great for commuters. I found good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $34.00; no applicable discounts/tips). We live at the halfway point between two Costcos, but always choose to come here over the two in Laguna Niguel one because of the its location and spacious parking lot. The Irvine branch is just off of the freeway off of Barranca Parkway. The other one is on Cabot Road where they are doing a lot of construction and with much less parking. The other one off of Alicia Parkway has even less parking and we always end up parking in the back and walking all the way around the warehouse to the front to enter. Our family loves shopping at Costco! Costco is such a great place to stock up on everyday essentials and groceries along with other fun items like bebe sunglasses, a trio pack of succulents, the latest Disney movie on blu-ray or another large pot to add to your back yard. They have it all...IN BULK and at great prices. They also have great samples! Especially if you come midday on the weekend, you'll be able to sample anything from Jelly Belly jelly beans and Special K strawberry yogurt bars to caramel and cheddar cheese popcorn to orange chicken and pork meatballs. We've come on days where at the end of almost every other row there was yet another sample to try and we all left feeling pretty satisfied after just walking in a little hungry. Costco also sends out these great coupon mailers every month with the latest sale items, which drives people in hoards to come back and shop even more. Sure you just bought and are fully stocked up on Charmin toilet paper and Lysol Antibacterial Wipes to the gills, but they're on sale this month and how often do they ever go on sale? Well just to be sure and take advantage of their sale, we must go back and buy some because you never know when they'll go on sale again. Of course people especially LOVE their excellent return policy. Apparently people return EVERYTHING under the sun and are able to get their money back. I know this for a fact because I've seen them do it. You see them standing in line with their old produce and opened boxes of food and products that they're unsatisfied with. I don't know how people do it. I know that I've definitely had my share of mold on fresh clementine boxes I had just purchased from them and burnt batches of newly opened boxes of Wheat Thins, but I'm too embarrassed to even try to take them back. I guess to me I feel it's not even worth the time or effort. Anyway, you get it. They are great on returns, which is yet another reason people keep coming back. OK, seriously, why don't all Costco Gasoline locations have three gas terminals per aisle? This blows my mind. There's so small of a line too. Why the 1 star hatorade? Seriously though I want to know why there's so much hate here. It's like the ones reviewing this place with 1-star reviews have never been to Costco Gasoline locations in poorer areas of Southern California. Try Montclair or even Fullerton. It's a nightmare at 10 AM on a weekday, with lines backing out not only into the street but as far as the next major traffic light intersection! I am not kidding here people. Costco Gasoline here is a cakewalk by comparison. And the fact that there are three terminals per aisle and a spacious parking lot makes it even more accessible to customers. Every time I come here, I don't run into lines and I come at different parts of the day.
